Got introduced to this wonderful Cuban restaurant when they were in Queens over 30 years ago. They closed that location and now operate out of Huntington and New Hyde Park. Their food, service and hospitality has been always been five star. So when something is so good why change, just expand. We visit the Huntington location quite often. We start with Pina Coladas and Cuba Libre (rum and coke), for appetizers the chorizo and tamales. While there is an assortment of meats, fish and chicken, our favorite is the ropa veija, tender shredded beef in a wonderful sauce with the best steamed white rice and of course madoros. Another hit of ours is the breaded steak and my new favorite, the broiled flounder. Our next dish will be the paella. Just need to call ahead. The Flan, Tres Leches cake and Cuban coffee is always a good ending. The service is always top notch. Red and white table cloths. A bar area with a separate dining area. You may even be lucky to catch a unique celebration song and dance by one of the staff. Make sure you have your camera ready. And a special thank you to Raul. The last time we were there, I tried a new dish that was good, but not something that enjoyed. Don't you know it, Raul surprised me and sent me home with a serving of Ropa Vieja. This is probably the best Cuban food I've ever had. We've been here twice for takeout. The first time I got the special and the ropa vieja; I found the special (some sort of steak) a little wine-heavy for my taste, but that ropa vieja took my breath away. Easily the best ropa vieja I've ever had, bar none. It tastes slow cooked; the taste is rich and is perfect in every way. No stringy or tough parts, it just simply melts in your mouth. The black bean soup (which we also paired with the rice for a delicious bite) was not slept on either; sometimes restaurants can be lazy with their beans but not this restaurant. The beans had flavor that complemented the ropa vieja perfectly. We also had a side of maduros (sweet plantains) and they were great. No disappointments, I know yelp's review system only goes up to five star but it was 10/10 for me. As for service, as long as you place your order ahead of time I can't see there being an issue. They are honest about wait times (I think it was a 20 minute wait) but it was totally worth it. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for a while so glad we were able to come in for lunch. It has a cozy vibe and the staff was so welcoming and friendly. We got maduros for a side and they were really good. My husband got the chicken soup which was hearty and comforting on such a cold day. He also got a Spanish omelette. The special of the day was a chicken stew which came with rice and beans. Everything tasted authentic and service was great. They give you a complimentary chocolate berry shot, which was nice. We decided to go on a Saturday night with very little notice and they were able to accommodate our party of six -a sure win to start. We waited for about five minutes in the bar area and were seated promptly with a great table and the waitress came immediately to offer us drinks for the kids and for the adults as well. We tried almost everything on the menu for the adults and they had some great options for the kids to eat, and while we were never rushed, there were plenty of celebrations for birthdays going on around us, and we were able to sing and enjoy other people's special day. The service was fantastic and the food was also incredible. We ate appetizers and just about anything else you can think of on the menu and it all tasted authentic and true to its form. We had seen this reviewed many times and this was our first trip, but it certainly won't be our last. We look forward to coming in and having the great ambience of being in a new world and a rustic feel. Parking is fairly simple in the back because as you come in through the alley, there are perhaps two dozen parking spots, and the entrance was decorated nicely for the holidays with lights in the trees, and a nice warm entrance. read more

Food is hit or miss here! Sometimes it's great and delicious and others not as enjoyable. If you eat inside don't be shafted like we were with 1/2 pitchers just get the whole one even if you don't drink it all it's cheaper then 1/2 we asked the waiter and he suggested we buy 1/2's. Also dessert was fair. Overall though the times we were sitting down inside and not takeout. Was enjoyable. I gave 4 stars based on that one time. Take out not great, and expensive. She can make anything, but do yourself a favor and order the Coconut Mojito--perfectly balanced, smooth, and bursting with tropical flavor. It was like a mini vacation in a glass on a winter night. For dinner, we went with two traditional Cuban favorites, and both were outstanding. The Oxtail was incredibly fresh, tender, and packed with deep, rich flavor--comfort food at its finest. When I'm craving great Spanish flavors I crave Rincon Criollo. I've tried the Lechon Asado (roasted pork topped with onions) - the Vaca Frita (shredded beef in a garlic sauce) and the codfish fritters. All were so flavorful and delicious. They also have THE best black beans that come with your entree - infused with a pork flavor (I don't even like black beans!) Service is attentive and friendly - restaurant has a cozy family style ambiance - like I'm at a friend's mom's kitchen. I'm from New York City, so that's YUGE for me. Each staff member with whom I've connected -- from the owners, Rudy and Esther, to the servers, namely Darlyn and José -- is genuine and warm. If you're a seafood fan as I am, I suggest both the breaded shrimp and shrimp scampi dishes. As a side, the maduros (fried sweet plantains) are my absolute favorite! Love the ambiance and hospitality at this location, although my heart is still with the Corona location. They definitely had a slight edge. However this location is bigger than the Corona location. Food and service was outstanding. Had the ropa vieja with arroz blanco y tostones. It was so delicious and the tostones were so fresh but it is a small portion. I've been here MANY times over the years and even visited their Queens location once. I *love* the food here. The flavors remind me of the food I grew up eating. I don't get it very often since I moved from New York to California. Now that I am a vegetarian, I am grateful that there are still things that I can order here so that I can have the comfort and experience the memories that this delicious food brings. I usually get the white rice, black beans, platanos, yucca, and avocado salad. It's more than enough for me, and I am able to take some food home for later. The flavors are always on point and the food is consistently cooked well. I really love that they use recyclable paper and aluminum containers since I recently stopped visiting restaurants that only use plastic to go containers. They also make yummy cocktails here, I've seen other tables order these, though I've only tried the margaritas. From time to time, they have events around sports matches and the owner is almost always at the restaurant, making sure that everyone is having a good time and enjoying their food. Delicious Cuban food and service! We had the smoked pork chops, boiled yucca, moros, black beans, oxtail, fried grouper, flounder in garlic sauce, and a salad. We also got ham croquettes and the extremes platter (Cuban antipasto) as an app. We cleaned almost everything on our plates due to how good it was, and also had some flan for dessert and churros and tres leches. I was so tired of eating the same food. I wanted a different taste. So we came and tried this place. It's a cute spot. The waitresses were nice. I got ground beef and rice for the kids it doesn't look like much but it is so well seasoned and tasty. The empanadas I was alittle disappointed because they are so small. I also barely tasted the ground beef. It was mostly potatoes. I got steak with peppers and onions. The steak was alittle tough but again I enjoyed the flavor. I did enjoy their rice and beans combo made with bacon that was different. I love plaintains so of course I got two orders and it didn't disappoint. My husband got oxtail stew with white rice and that was very good! I would definitely come back and get the oxtail. I left nice and full. Oh I did enjoy the white sangria as well. We were greeted immediately and seated within minutes. Our drinks came cold and frosty. Our server took our orders and gave us some suggestions. We ordered a few different appetizers that were great. The yucca were crispy as were the chorizo, and croquettes. Our main meals came out hot with more than generous sides. The breaded palomilla steak was crispy and huge. The chicken was well seasoned, the pork chunks crispy and plentiful. We loved the morro and black beans - amazing. We would have preferred more dipping sauces, but they were described perfectly and did have a hint of heat, which was a bit too strong for some of us but perfectly hot for the others. Portions were so much we ended up taking most home. Next time we will get less apps despite being crowded, service flowed. We would recommend reservations. read more

The desserts were on the house- Thank you again !! ,I had 1 tiny gripe, as nice as they all were , they could have been a bit more attentive .
