The cheese curds were delicious and made for a great starter. I had the Cuban sandwich, which was very good, though I think it could have used a little more sauce. For dessert, I enjoyed a brownie topped with ice cream, which was the perfect way to end the meal. But I don't give out five stars for bird inspiration alone. Any local bar that scores fresh kegs of my holy grail - Maine Dinner gets a minimum 4**** review from me regardless of expense or food. $12 a pour is well worth the absolute pleasure of a freshly tapped keg that holds a nectar of the Gods. So good - I had 2. Lisa E. and I had just finished a nice 4 mile walkabout visiting my hometown. The sun broke through the clouds and we were able to take our well earned beverages curbside. Decided to walk in with my boyfriend here because we wanted a quick lunch. We've been here once before but just to sit at the bar and have a few drinks. This second time we came here was for lunch. We both ordered the Sausalito Sandwich with shoestring fries and came with a pickle. The sandwich was a decent size, it had a thin grilled chicken cutlet, guacamole, chipotle aioli (which was a little too overpowering, and could've maybe been a little less intense), tomato and lettuce on toasted rye bread. The sandwich was delicious but it was very messy and needed extra napkins for it. Otherwise the waitress was very sweet, very accommodating. The whole place is small but I liked the decor which made it feel comfy. Overall this place was very good and I'd love to come back here again to try more food! read more

It's got a great fluffy croissant laying on top of creamy chicken and veggie goodness, don't pass this one up! Also, did a split portion between my guy and I of the beef stroganoff, so good just a touch salty (not mad at it though!).... This place really really has a good menu of "homey" and comforting foods.. great selection of beers, and good prices. Will be back! I go to Huntington frequently. Sometimes alone, sometimes with someone or a couple of someones. Huntington has many options. I mean, you know that already. And that's one of the first-worldliest of the first world problems: too much choice. The cavemen probably had a single fire they could crowd around. And their menu choices were likely limited to "catch of the day." But now, even though there are plenty of cavemen around us -- just look at the political climate -- we've got choices of not just individual things, but even GENRES of things. It can make your head spin. My head is spinning right now, but for a number of reasons for which I may need to call a specialist. But you arrive in Huntington and you park your car or maybe you live within walking distance from the village in which case I HATE YOU WITH ALL THE SEEPING JEALOUSY and anyway you wonder where the hell to go for a drink and something to eat. Some places have good grub but terrible beer options, while there are also bars that serve food fit for someone drinking several beers. Sapsuckers had become my go-to spot in town. And by that I mean I GO TO it almost every time I'm in town. I've sat at the bar, at the bar tables, at the regular tables, outside in the back, and even outside in front of the establishment, where I stare at people and sometimes they stare back. I'm a bit of a beer snob, so I appreciate a beer menu that doesn't list Stella Artois as an import craft selection. The rotation usually allows me to try something new, or something familiar that I normally wouldn't find on tap -- like, say, Gulden Draak -- and I can play the big fancy beer snob, sipping from a tulip glass. The menu is extensive. But again, here we go with all the choices. Fortunately, I've found a couple of things I like -- really like -- so I don't stray too far from them, and the routine brings me comfort. The shawrama is top-notch and comes with fries that are so good but which I shouldn't be eating. "Oh, I'll just have one," I'll say to no one, or everyone at the bar. And then I've eaten them all. AND THEN I HAVE EATEN THEM ALL But I've been trying to make better choices lately, so I've more recently been opting for the Greek salad with grilled chicken. It sounds boring (unless you're Greek or maybe from Cyprus), but sometimes (not always) you can appreciate something simple that's made well, and that's this salad. It almost makes me forget that I chose a salad over a dish called the GORDOMAKER. I rewarded myself for the salad choice with a dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was a little too dry, and didn't pair well with what I believed what a vanilla gelato or nondairy ice cream. The only other drawback is that the joint gets really crowded, and people sitting at the bar tend to grow roots that adhere them to their stools. But the staff is great. The main bartender resembles a cross between the musician Jack Johnson and the actor Diedrich Bader, in the best way possible. And the hosts and waitstaff are nothing AND I MEAN NOTHING but friendly and attentive. So yeah, there are many places you can go in Huntington, but this is usually my first choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my little salad but I have to say I was a little put off by the price tag. $10 for an appetizer sized salad, which I wanted and $8 for the 4 shrimp I ordered. It was cooked nicely and the salad was tasty. My husband had the burger and he thought it was excellent. I stole some fries. They are exactly how I like them. Super skinny and crunch, almost like matchsticks. Nice vibe and great service. Other than the big price tag on the salad, it was a perfect experience. I probably should have said something but I didn't. Unless they give four shrimp on the entree size, they should adjust the price to add on the protein for an app size, IMHO. I'm a fan of this place but after tonight I think I'm permanently turned off. All I wanted was a steak sandwich and I'm not picky about it either! I decided to order their Philly cheesesteak some mixed reviews on it but again I'm not picky. Man this sandwich was just bad. It had to be an off night in the kitchen this Monday night. The bread was really great but the cheese American cheese one of my faves was just bad! And The steak just so flavorless even my fave caramelized onions couldn't help it! Came here one time in the summer for their blueberry beer and was VERY impressed. It tasted amazing and I could see why my friend was raving about it. All the food was amazing. I went in my birthday and ended up getting the French onion soup, deviled eggs and Birthday Sandwich since it was my birthday. I loved that the deviled eggs weren't typical. The yolk that's usually inside was spread underneath the eggs so you could eat it with a spoon or scoop into the egg yourself. I went to Sapsuckers last Wednesday with a friend for lunch. The food was super yummy. We shared the homemade Pierogies. I had their version of a Beef Stroganoff, and she had a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. The Pierogies were amazing!! Next time I go I'm not sharing them. The Stroganoff was delicious with fresh ingredients. My friend said her salad was really good. The service was a little slow considering the place was not full. Also, the place was very loud. If you want a little hidden jem in town this is your place! Very cool, upbeat, small town bar that has some amazing food. Went here for lunch the other day and had a nice time. We were sat immediately at a table and had some pretty good service. For my lunch i got the lieutenant dan po boy sandwich which was amazing. It was topped with Cajun style frys and sauce...omgggg..... My wife got the alabama sloppy hammer which was also very good. It was served with a side of their red wine beef gravy which was honestly some of the best beef gravy ive ever had. My only complaint is small but its that they told us they had homemade fresh lemonade...it was 100% from the packet. Place is a little small so id guess it gets packed on the weekends and for dinner. After years and years of coming here just to drink, I finally had a chance to try their food and it was delicious. Stopped in on Labor Day around 3 ish and scanned the cocktail menu for a healthy version of a drink, which you can never find and what do you know, Sapsuckers had one. I ordered a drink with titos vodka, soda water and muddled lemon and mint. Sure, this sounds like a doctored up vodka soda, which is exactly what it is but I don't want to be one of those people who asks for a vodka soda with muddled this and that so it's nice to have a drink like that, give it a name and be able to order it. $11 is for sure steep for that, but it takes a minute to make so I was cool with it. The bartenders as always are friendly and so knowledgable about all of their products. The girl who was helping us behind the bar knew everything there was to know about every beer, very impressive. We shared the pulled chicken tacos, which were served on corn tortillas with feta, black bean puree and white rice and they were so flavorful and delicious. Their menu really looked awesome and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more things. Came here on a Sunday after brunch nearby. No drink specials but the gentleman next to me was having a beer in a wide sniffer glass and I knew I wanted what he was drinking. It was a Belgium Strong Ale called For the Thrown. Not a beer drinker per se but it was my kind of beer. Light with a high abv lol.
