A smallish bar-restaurant off the lobby of the Hotel Indigo at the western edge of Riverhead, right by the LI Expressway's Exit 72. The vibe is modern and cool; all the TVs are tuned to sports channels. The menu offered a few interesting dishes, including cold lobster roll with crispy fries and lobster mac 'n' cheese, both of which were ordered by my party. The lobster roll was small-ish but was filled with whole chunks of fresh lobster meat. Prices were very reasonable. read more

My wife and I have stayed at the adjoining hotel, Indigo, several times in the past years. Bistro 72 is a major part of the reason we drive all the way from Astoria, Queens. The restaurant serves good but not spectacular food at reasonable prices compared to what we pay in NYC. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, but the service is sometimes uneven. It depends on the staffing levels (usually understaffed) and the dedication and skill of the server. This time around, on a busy evening during our 5-day stay, a young woman who normally works at the bar part of the restaurant noticed us waiting and jumped into service. Her name is Jenny. She was efficient, genuinely friendly, hospitable, and was able to multitask in a way that impressed us greatly. We will return. read more

I'm sure this place is lovely as a hotel bar, or restaurant for people who can take their time and enjoy a quiet, slowly paced meal. This restaurant cannot accommodate an advertised brunch. We were here for Mother's Day Brunch with a group of about 8, and 2 small children. We were there for approximately an hour and a half before any food came out. When it did come out it was wrong. We had to ask many times for additional place settings and drinks. It was incredibly disappointing especially since looking around, it didn't seem like there were more than a few other tables sat for this event. When the food did come out it was wrong (my children were asked if they wanted chocolate chip pancakes, they said no, and got chocolate chips in their pancakes. Thank god no one melted down over this) among other things. Eggs were cold, etc. Unfortunately we will not be back. read more

My stay at this hotel has been a memorable experiences in my personal opinion. It is so great to be surrounded by good people, who are kind and professional. From the moment we arrived at the front desk we are greeted by the amazing front desk staff who have made our day amazing, then we have the restaurant staff form the kitchen, manager and servant are awesome (thank you Michael for serving us and be so helpful and professional). I love every minute of my stay at this location I definitely want to come back soon to try more of the amazing food and in summer the pool. I am in love with this place that I can wait to book my next getaway. Additionally, this property is confortable, and is basically around the corner of Tanger outlet. This hotel is very clean in all areas from the rooms, bathrooms, hallways. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a great menu with good quality food along with most importantly amazing service. They also have live music played by musicians that come to the hotel and interact with customers. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Indigo Long Island and I would recommend this amazing place to anyone!!! I haven't been here since Fall 2019! So glad to be back. The hotel has a resort spa feel and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. It's new American modern meets cozy. Onto the restaurant. There's indoor and outdoor seating available. The outside overlooks the pool and there was very good live music playing. (Please tip your musicians.) The dinner menu is small which means everything they make is fresh. Their prices are at prepandemic levels and a good value for what you get. I had the juicy steak sandwich and asked for substitutes for the fries. The waiter offered mashed potato, baked sweet potato and I opted for the tasty house salad at no up charge. My dining companion had the excellent crab cakes which I was told only select Baltimore crabcakes could beat. They offer a quality beer, wine and cocktail menu at reasonable prices. My glass of Argentinian Malbec Reserve was very good and $13. Wine is $11-$14 by the glass. Cocktails are $14. They offer Happy Hour daily (except Saturdays) from 4-7 p.m. select wine- $9; beer $7, and cocktails $10. Stayed here for a wedding and went to bar for the after party and enjoy with friends but ended up being berated and cursed out by the bartender. Customer service from her is lacking. Nasty and rude. Told me I should go "f myself" who says that to a paying customer. Hotel was nice just a few minor things that I reported to the gentleman at the front desk. He immediately rectified one of them and said that the others would be handled in morning due to no overnight maintaince guy. Very professional and cared about the issue. Do better read more

My wife ordered medium rare NY strip steak. The steak that arrived was raw with a shiny center. We are not the type to complain about the doneness of a steak, but this was not even "blue" it was raw. We had to flag down the waitress to have it sent back. The chef proceeded to cut her steak down the center, and told the waitress to bring it back to us because "that's what we ordered". The cut exposed an even more raw, shiny dark red center. That was honestly an unprofessional and unacceptable way to handle the complaint. We then waited about 20 minutes. The same cut up steak came back extremely well done. Our server said the chef "might have gotten carried away" and asked if it was okay. It was not, but after that wait and the vibe from the kitchen we did not send it back again. It definitely seemed like a retaliation. Service was mostly inattentive. The bartender was the only person who checked on us. For the price, the experience was mediocre at best. Big mistake for an anniversary. We will not return. read more

We arrived just after 10 for brunch when they opened and stood there for almost 30 minutes without an employee acknowledging us. Tried to ask an employee if we could be seated and even scheduled a reservation online to try to get anyone's attention but much like a parent hoping the other parent would wake up and deal with the baby, everyone did their absolute best to avoid eye contact. Hi Yelpers! Great shopping in Tanger and Riverhead, but ALWAYS stay the night and really enjoy well prepared food. Tonight we loved the tuna tartare with chips, then mushroom risotto, special request of tuna soft tacos. My wife eat out all the time and enjoy good food, services and a non rushed environment, Bistro 72 has go it to a T! My friends and I rented a cabana and had a day pass for the pool at the Hotel Indigo for a birthday and we decided to do the birthday dinner at the hotel restaurant, Bistro 72. It was the highlight of the day and I was pleasantly surprised how good my meal was. We were a party of about 14 we didn't have to wait long for our meals and it all came out at the same time. I had the filet mignon and it was nicely seasoned. The sizes of the filet was inconsistent my friend's was almost twice the size of mine. Mashed potatoes were delicious and perfectly prepared. Cocktails were okay. Michael was our server and he was fantastic. We sat outside and was entertained by live music while we ate. read more

Was here for a week for a work trip and ate almost every meal here for breakfast and dinner since there aren't many options in the area or options that are open late. Got to know the wait staff well and they were pleasant people. Service can be slow to actually sit down and get a table since there was often 1-2 people working at a time during our stay. There was usually more people on staff at night when this place would really get busy. Things I tried: Nachos - Order them! Creamy, cheesy, greasy heaping mound enough for several people to share. We ordered them at almost every meal. They are the best thing on the menu along with... Crab Cakes - Hands down one of the best things on the menu along with the nachos. The corn sauce was soooo good. Shrimp tacos - Pretty good. Fresh and a little kick to them Chicken tacos - I would pass on these. messy and not that great flavor wise Lobster mac and cheese - Pass. This isn't what you are thinking it's a cream sauce rigatoni pasta with hardly any cheese flavor. I was expecting a southern style mac and cheese. Pass on all the breakfast options in the restaurant. We didn't like any of them, eggs weren't cooked well, eggs benedict were dry and gross. We didn't try the french toast but if the other options were any indication we just stopped ordering breakfast items alt but did like the free breakfast options. Especially the sandwiches and the bagels. Chicken Sandwich - Didn't eat this myself but co worker said pass on it Burger - You can get better elsewhere. it was a thick and dry patty The Pizzas - Tried them all and I would pass on them. We have been several times to Bistro 72.. and each time it was the same conclusion... Great location, atmosphere.. love the live music.. and the small plate menu is delicious.. BUT... they cannot seem to be able to figure out how to make a good drink.! Unless it comes in a bottle.. or from a keg... every single bartender we have been dealing with is incapable of making drinks. Long Island Ice Ts taste like gasoline... Gin and Tonic becomes Gin and Seltzer... Cosmos tastes like sugary lollipops... etc... Every... single... time... For us Epicureans.. the drinks are as important as the food.. it's part of the experience. During my stay at Hotel Indigo, we had a lovely dinner at Bistro 72 that exceeded my expectations. The bar area was lively alonglive entertainment that added much value to the indoor dining experience. We split 3 dishes...Greek salad, crab cakes and lobster Mac & cheese...all dishes were fabulous! Hotel indigo as well as Bistro 72 was a fun trendy hotel and the staff was very pleasant. This location is a great place to stay to visit the local wineries as well as the local shopping. Interesting find. Going out to the East End, I've driven by Hotel Indigo and never knew there was an elegant bistro located inside. Bistro 72 would be at home in Garden City, to have it located in Riverhead near the Tanger Outlets makes Bistro 72 a hidden treasure. My wife & I were out east, she had to swap out some clothing for my youngest son and we had plans to stop for dinner. Walking into the hotel, you'll see the restaurant space to the left. We ordered cocktails as well as an appetizer, Sesame Crusted Calamari with a Spicy House Marinara. When you overcook calamari, the fish rings turn tough, its like eating a rubber band. What I noticed was how light the batter was and how the fish was so soft. It was a well executed fish dish. I was in a fishy mood so I also ordered the Fish & Chips. The presentation of the plating was impressive. Here's another impressive fact, the fish was local. Braun Seafood Company in Cutchogue provides the protein on my plate. I just enjoy that even more, I'm glad I'm able to enjoy the bounty from Long Island waters. The fish was light and flaky, it was a large portion that was cooked to perfection. Reading the menu and seeing the local items has me jazzed. The menu is well thought out, you can order USDA prime steaks, Racks of Lamb and Local Fish?? Went to splish splash over the weekend with my wife and family. We were wondering where we could eat some good food. Searched on google and bistro 72 came up, literally 5 minutes away from the park. Drove over after we reserved our spot on open table, to top this all off, it was my wife's birthday and she was so happy with the type of whines available and food available. This was the next best decision after going to the water park! Lots of space, very clean and the food was amazing. A pool side view and outdoor dining is available. The customer service was nice and the food was done very quickly but still very yummy. Here's what we had, shrimp tacos and chicken tacos, loaded nachos with chicken and a margarita pizza; everything was amazing! The quality of the food at Bistro 72 makes me regret some previous 5-star reviews I've given out. I attended a rehearsal dinner here on Friday and it was truly the best meal I remember having. We started with drinks. I had the house Chardonnay which was one of the best I have had. The table shared fried calamari, chips and guacamole, and a mediterranean platter. I couldn't have the calamari but everything I tried was delicious. For my meal, I chose the salmon. Although the menu has a little "gluten free" symbol, none of the entrees were marked gluten free. When I asked the waiter if any entrees could be made gluten free he checked with the chef and found that 3 of them could. I went with the salmon, which is what I was hoping could be gluten free (I forget which other two can be gluten free). It was the best salmon I ever had. I never finish a full plate of food and I ate every bite of this one. Everyone at the table seemed to really enjoy their food, and between us I think we ordered just about every entree. For our group of 25 people there was 3-4 waiters/waitresses helping continually throughout the night. There was constantly someone there to check in, get drinks, get food, etc. Empty plates were cleaned up immediately, without ever feeling rushed. They were truly top notch. read more
