My friend and I went to Cooperage Inn to try out the menu for Restaurant week and I was very surprised at how well the evening went. Our waitress was wonderful and greeted us and gave us a menu for Restaurant week as well as the regular menu. The dining room was cozy and the decorations at the entrance were beautiful. We started with calamari from the regular menu, as well as chicken pot pie rolls with cranberry sauce and baked clams from the restaurant week menu. Then for my entrée, I got the flat iron steak with gorogonzola and chimichurri sauce, and my friend got the catch of the day which was a mahi-mahi. We both really enjoyed our meals and had a lot of leftovers. I liked the steamed veggies and mashed potatoes that my steak came with and she really enjoyed the fish then when we got to the end, we each got to pick a dessert and we tried the cappuccino mousse chocolate cake, as well as the chocolate ice cream. Then on the back of the receipt, there's a stamp for 10% off to purchase pies at the window outside from their sister location, NoFo Pot Pies. We had a great time here and service was excellent. I've been to the Cooperage Inn in the past and loved the food the atmosphere and the service. I went there on Saturday and sadly things have changed. First the waitress was annoyed that we had made a reservation for 10 but only seven of us showed because three people were ill. She was rather rude about it and made us move and put the seven of us at a table that was clearly meant to seat 5 comfortably. When we received our orders, everything was mixed up. We decided just to keep what we got because we had waited so long for dinner to arrive . My drink had no mint in it as described on the menu,My flat iron steak was tough and chewy and My mashed potatoes were cold . Thankfully, the people I was with, I love and that made the night enjoyable, but we could've done that anywhere and not have paid so much for a very disappointing dining experience. read more

Beautiful location with delicious food. We were attending a family lunch that was preplanned after a funeral service and had a private space. The service was great, kind and attentive. We had access to bathrooms right next to the space as well. The predetermined menu offered choices for salad, entree and dessert. We were asked about drinks upon arrival and refills during our meal, as well as coffee with dessert. My garden salad was full of a variety of greens and vegetables and the vinaigrette dressing was a perfect complement. Others at my table enjoyed the Cesar salad option. My entree was enormous, a perfectly cooked and very large piece of salmon. Served with rice and steamed veggies, it was yummy, filling, and satisfying. 12/31/25 we had an incredible lunch early dinner at the Cooperage. We started off with drinks and the fabulous Bloody Mary. I ordered the shrimp bisque which was delicious. For dinner we had the amazing Rack of lamb which was a generous portion of lamb with 8 bones! It was cooked perfectly and was so delicious and tender. The ladies ordered the braised short rib with a pappardelle pasta which was delicious as well. Everything was great but I do have to personal gripes. 1. No crackers for the soup and 2. You have to order bread and pay for it. I was surprised by this and wasn't happy about that. But I'm not going to knock off a star because the food was great. But to pay for bread, C'mon man. We came around lunchtime and were seated upon entering. It has a cozy, home-y feel. Like you just sat down at Grandma's for dinner. We have been here quite a few times but this is my first review. I've never had a bad meal here ever. Today was no different. Their creamy garlic dressing for their salad is the best dressing I've ever had and I had the pot pie, which looks small but it's deceiving. I could only eat half. Wow! How have I not done a review on this wonderful gem of all seasons is really beyond me. Whether it's for fall harvest festival fun, an intimate family event or just a night out for dinner, the Cooperage Inn fills my heart with warm memories. There is a seasonal menu that changes regularly but the main staple items are there as well. This time around I chose the sweet potato crusted sea bass. So good! It was worth the risk of stepping outside of my foodie comfort zone. For us, it's the chicken pot pie that is ALWAYS good. It never gets boring! Regardless of the time of year that you stop in, their food, service & ambiance are always on point. I suppose that's where the memories are made because the experiences here are special. Made a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. Have always wanted to come here for many years! It was such a warm and cozy experience. They have a wide array of entrees and appetizers. Drinks were reasonably priced (not $20 like most places) We ordered the bread basket which comes with an assortment of breads. The zucchini bread was AMAZING! We decided on soups for appetizers; seafood bisque and french onion. Seafood bisque was rich with some clumps of crab. French onion was classic. We were already full after finishing this and still had bread left over. For my entree I choose the marinated grilled flat iron steak. Great portion size, steak was perfect. It had chimichurri sauce and gorgonzola cheese. Garlic mashed potatoes were fab. My partner ordered the stuffed shrimp. You can choose between 2 or 4 for a few more dollars. He loved it as well. No complaints at all. Service was great. Staff was lovely and attentive. Highly recommend a reservation as it is always busy! Came with family, party of 8 on Sunday before Christmas. The Cooperage has a warm & cozy cabin feel too it with rustic decor. It was packed, but i appreciated so much that there was ample space between tables. Even though it was crowded, it wasn't loud at all. We throughly enjoyed the space and time we were there, as we were not rushed at all. Loved that it was the regular menu, not abbreviated holiday menu as most restaurants do this time of year. Everything we enjoyed was outstanding. Everyone raved about their food, and we sampled plenty! Appetizers, dinners and desserts. The taste and the presentation were too notch. Our server was a nice gentleman. We are a high maintenance group (not me...others in our family party) and he delivered with a smile. We used to go here every easter and spring holiday. They held buffets in the morning. I believe it's stopped since covid but the food is just as good. So charming and quaint. The ideal place for family brunch. the food is heavy and warm in the best way. I always get the chicken pot pie. And don't skimp on the desserts, they make the meal. We were not rushed at all despite the restaurant being quite busy. The holiday decor was inviting and the fireplace toasty Three of us enjoyed the Grouper special and boy was it ever delicious. Served over garlic mash potatoes and sautéd spinach. One person ordered the Francaise chicken and shrimp and another had the fabulous steak. Came here for a Saturday night dinner for two on a random fall evening. During the fall at least, I would definitely recommend a reservation, it was very busy around dinner time and without one we wound up waiting around for over an hour (which was the expectation they gave us). Since the weather was nice, we were at least able to enjoy waiting outside in the outdoor area they have on the side of the restaurant. Once we finally were sat, service was very friendly and pretty quick to boot. Ambiance felt very homey and I knew we were going to be in for a comfort food delight. We started off with the simple bread basket, but there really isn't much better than hot fresh bread as far as I am concerned, although I usually prefer when it's complimentary, I can't complain that they at least kept it a fair price. For dinner I ordered the short rib stroganoff and my date got the single porkchop. Both were delicious, but if I'm only picking one, I think mine was the real winner. Portions are generous and quality isn't lacking with the quantity either. We both really wanted to try their claim to fame of pies (both savory and sweet!) but we were too stuffed to have another bite. But that just gives us a reason to come back for more. I've come here for a few different occasions: baby shower, fancy dinners, and (best of all) their fall festival. A room was reserved for the baby shower and they made it a lovely afternoon. The staff was very accommodating as I had to arrive late but they saved a plate of food for me. This is a popular dining spot in the evening, an upscale place for a nice dinner. Excellent selections, especially fish, and interesting sides to go along. They always have a great menu for Long Island Restaurant Week! I'm personally not a fan of their key lime pie, which has a whipped consistency with cream cheese. Their eggplant fries are absolutely amazing though! The BEST part about Cooperage Inn (in my opinion) is their fall festival, which is held outside every weekend in the fall. They offer excellent comfort food and drinks (I love their hot apple cider). You are not allowed inside to use the restroom but there are (pretty nice) porta-potties outside for fall festival customers to use. There are also activities and animals for children to enjoy, so it's definitely family-friendly. The only complaint is how loud they play the music outside. They did turn pre-recorded music down upon request, but when there is a live band it is really too loud for conversation. There is usually about an hour before the live band begins each day for the fall festival, so arrive early if you want to be able to comfortably converse with others! I definitely recommend Cooperage Inn for a casual lunch outdoors, or a fancier meal at dinnertime. read more

Good American cuisine. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Pet peeve was after asking for my meal to be wrapped up to take home I'm simply given a takeout tin. After wrapping up leftover appetizers and two dinners I need to go to the ladies room to wash my hands. When bringing it to the waitress and managers attention I received a phony smile and I'm sorry. The person I was with was so annoyed at the attitude they didn't finish their drink or order dessert. There are some great servers there whom I should have asked for. I won't go back. read more

Dinner was steak and veggies. The steak was OK, just ok. However, for the cost of dining out these days I do not expect to be served boiled mixed frozen veggies. I mean they had freezer burn. For Father's Day, my wife and daughter treated me to a wonderful dinner, and the experience did not disappoint. The food was both delicious and plentiful. I ordered my usual flat iron steak--perfectly cooked--and the ever-tasty mashed potatoes. One of my favorite appetizers, calamari, started the meal, and here the chef did not miss a beat. My wife chose the Chicken Parmesan, prepared a bit differently at this restaurant: a thick cutlet of chicken, roasted pepper, and fresh mozzarella atop tri-color heirloom tomatoes, spinach, peas, and fettuccine, all bathed in a creamy pesto sauce. My daughter had the chicken pot pie, a house specialty, while her boyfriend went with the penne alla vodka with shrimp. Everyone raved about their dishes. For dessert, my wife and I split a "vanilla" cheesecake crowned with a generous layer of chocolate ganache. The cheesecake itself was excellent--especially that rich ganache--though the crust leaned a tad sweet. My husband & I live nearby & have frequently visit the Cooperage. Food is always delicious, service good & the ambiance cozy. Our most recent visit was with a group of 12 celebrating the upcoming holidays. Some ordered wine or cocktails, others no alcohol. Some ordered the most expensive item, others less pricey. We asked for 5 separate checks. Cooperage policy is no more than 3 checks per table. Waiter talked to the manager. We asked to talk to the manager, who did not appear. Many of us felt disrespected. Our group will not be visiting the Cooperage again. Why the 3 check rule? It is a just little more work for the server to make check for each couple. read more

Went last night with a party of 4. This place is great ambiance it makes me think what old world Italian NY on the island should be. Food is great, Angelina was out server and she was amazing. Definitely get the bread service it's worth it for $5 although seems like a cash grab. When you have $30 entrees on your menu, give them the bread.... Food was good everyone raved about it. My French onion soup, although cheesy, the soup was bland and the cheese seemed to be one note, one flavor. The short rib pot pie was good but inside it had varying temps almost Like microwaved then topped with the crust and placed in the oven to finish. We had a great meal here for my husband's mother's birthday. Reservations were easy, but on OpenTable, they require a credit card and warn that changes to the reservation might incur a charge to the card. I did not experience this but was worried at first. I initially made reservations for 5p but there was a huge funeral procession for a fallen NYPD officer that recently passed, so obviously traffic was sluggish on the LIE. We were able to push the reservation back and even called up to inform them that there might be a delay on our arrival that was out of our control and Hade, the hostess, was very understanding. She said it would be no problem and ensured that we would have a table when we arrived. Once we got there, there was ample parking and the holiday lights welcomed us. Entering the restaurant, you do feel like you're in an inn. It's got a very homey vibe. There was a decorated Christmas tree right inside the front door, a cozy fire and a chair with a Valentine's Day bear sitting, just waiting for a photo op. They have an option of high chairs or boosters, so Hade grabbed a booster for our big girl, and showed us to our table. The dining room feels like dining at Grandma's. There were lots of families seated. Dan was our server for the night. He was very attentive and very nice. He took our drink orders and then returned for our food orders, ensuring that our Little received her food first. He also checked in on us throughout our entire meal, making sure we were all happy with the food and to see if we needed anything. Grub Rundown: Bread Basket - yes, it costs five bucks but it's worth it. It is a substantial bread basket and if there are only two of you, you'll likely have bread to take home and all of it is yummy. I had what tasted like a soda bread as well as another sweet bun-type of bread. They're all warm and the basket is served with whipped butter and hummus (ask for extra of those). Baked Clams - these were great. There were 4 to the order and they're super flavorful. The birthday girl and I shared these. Caesar Salad - this is an oversized portion and it IS huge. I added some shrimp and they were OK. I would have preferred larger shrimp with a nicer grilled char on them. The salad was kind of meh. It tasted ok but I've definitely had better. Crusted Cod (?) - I believe this is what my MIL had. She enjoyed it and finished her entire plate. Double Pork Chop - hubby had this and it was soooo juicy and thicc! It was topped with yummy apples that were cooked down, along with garlic mashed potatoes. Amazingly good. Only get a double of you're really hungry. Hubby didn't finish his and we brought one home for my son who also couldn't finish it. Chicken Parm - my Little got this from the kiddie menu. They breaded tendies and used them as chicken parm, three pieces. I like that because they were nice and juicy and small enough for my daughter to handle. The chicken was served on top of linguine with a thick blanket of mozz on top. I would probably ask for just a sprinkle of cheese and more tomato sauce but the kiddo liked it. During our phone call to inform the restaurant of the possibility that we might be late, we also let them know about the birthday occasion. They brought out a yummy flan with candle, ice-cream and whipped cream. I also ordered some chocolate ice-cream for my Little, which she appreciated. As we were leaving, Hade took lots of photos of us near the tree and fireplace to commemorate the occasion. So yummy! Our server was wonderful. We stopped in and made a reservation day of for 4 people. We did not know that it was restaurant week so what a treat! We all got meals from restaurant week so we started mostly with salads, but I got the crab cake. For the mains, everything was so delicious, flavorful and rich. I like that the portion sizes for dessert weren't big because we had already boxed up much of our main dishes due to getting quite full! The place is very cute. It was a little dark but I think that might have been because we were there pretty late. Overall a great experience. Hate to be "that guy". Walked in as a party of 3. Party of 2 walked in front of us and were told "3 minutes" for a table. Said "hi there, party of 3." "An hour and 20 minutes" I just looked for a minute and said "didn't you just say..." and just turned around and walked out. It's obvious they didn't want me in there for some reason. Plenty of tables were empty. Parking lot was 1/4- 1/2 empty and a party of at least 30 just walked out as we pulled into the lot. There's too many restaurants to deal with this kind of crap. 2 stars for the frozen pot pies outside. Zero for the restaurant and 2 stars for the host being a rude douche bag.
