We started with the fried calamari, which were delicious. The service was a highlight of our visit. Our waitress was not only lovely and helpful but also ensured our drinks arrived promptly and with a smile. When I requested a plain marinara Bolognese, the accommodation was made without a problem, which speaks volumes about the kitchen's flexibility and the staff's dedication. Did I say that the service is excellent? The restaurant itself is large and clearly a popular venue--a wedding was hosted during our dinner, and the music was on the loud side. First off, we made a reservation less than 24 hours ago knowing it was last minute and for Valentine's Day. Long story short, they were short staffed but not a shocker for the industry or holiday. That being said, the staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone's working in overdrive and you can't ask for more. Our waitress Melissa was absolutely awesome despite having a bunch of tables on a crazy night. She was super sweet and helped us navigate a very inviting menu with so many tempting options. Appetizers, we did the burrata and the Cupid salad off the special menu. Both were delicious and plenty of food for first plates. Dinner, Pork Ossobucco was unreal. I definitely need a nap after eating that monster. My wife got the pork cappraciossa and it was also delicious. The tartufo dessert was also a very nice way to wrap up a great meal. Were wait times a little extended tonight? Absolutely. Was that at any fault of the staff? No chance. Stopped by for a quick lunch at Ruggero's the other day. The server was very sweet and I love the overall look of the business! It's located in the East Wind Shops and has a nice greenhouse room attached to it (wish I got a picture!) My mom and I started off with the Mozzarella Fritta which was delicious. We each got a Neapolitan flatbread for our entrees which was pretty good, and my mom loved her Garden Salad! It's her favorite thing to get there. read more

He was funny, charming, quick and helpful. My two cons were the tortellini I got was a little bland. Needed something I'm not sure what but SOMETHING. Also maybe it's an unpopular opinion but I hated the bread and butter. No thank you. And unfortunately my Diet Coke was going flat. Had lunch at Ruggiero's for the first time. Very disappointed, and will not be going back anytime soon. My friend and I were there for over 2 hours! It took about 30+ minutes to bring out 3 tiny pieces of an eggplant rollatini appetizer. The fried calamari was rubbery and barely warm. Mini cannolis tasted a little stale. There were about 4 other tables that were occupied with 2 guests, so being busy was not an excuse. Last time we dined there for dinner, the experience was ok. The family rode out east on such a beautiful day. It was lunchtime and we were at Eastwinds visiting the shops. I noticed a place for lunch & asked if everyone was hungry?. Everyone say yes, so we tried this place. Well, to put it in words, it's fabulous. The restaurant is beautiful, the wait staff are very attentive, the beer is ice cold, the wine choices are good & the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend a stop here if you're in the area. Don't think you'll be disappointed. Didn't get any names of the staff, but all were friendly and courteous. To start off, I understand that holidays are busy--and Valentine's Day is no exception--but our experience was unpleasant. When we arrived, there was a line at the door consisting of both guests with reservations and those without. At no point did anyone distinguish between the two; it was first come, first served. We had made a reservation on Tuesday the 11th for February 14th (tonight), which in my opinion was last minute, but that's beside the point. If having a reservation doesn't guarantee any benefits, then why offer the option at all? Once inside, we were seated by the bar at high-top tables. Our bartender, who also served as our waiter, greeted us promptly and took our order for drinks and appetizers. Both arrived in a timely manner, and the mozzarella fritta was absolutely delicious--perfectly crisp and paired beautifully with the marinara sauce. After finishing our appetizer, we placed our entrée orders. This is where things took a turn for the worse. It took nearly two hours for our food to arrive. The restaurant is severely short-staffed, and while this isn't the fault of the waitstaff, bussers, or hosts, it clearly reflects poor management. Our waiter/bartender was juggling both bar service and table orders, which only added to the delays. It also seemed to be a common issue for our entire seating section, as other tables around us experienced the same long wait times. To make matters worse, waiters were bringing incorrect entrees to us and neighboring tables, highlighting a clear lack of organization. By the time our food arrived, it was 9--two hours past our 7 o'clock reservation. We began growing impatient and restless. At that point, a man we presumed to be the manager stopped by, apologized for the wait, and offered us more bread and refills. We began looking around for our server, as he was no longer by the bar; instead, he was stationed by the kitchen, seemingly waiting for the entrees to come out. He never returned to update us on the delay. Again, this isn't entirely his fault, as he is a bartender, not a dedicated waiter. Keep in mind that both our seating section and the bar were full. Even when we finally requested our check, the manager had to send someone else to deliver it. At no point were we offered any form of compensation for the inconvenience--not even a free cannoli. When our entrees eventually arrived, the experience was mixed. The eggplant parm was delicious, but the chicken Francese lacked the classic zing and zest, and the pasta on the side tasted plain--just buttered pasta. Ultimately, the food did not make up for the overall experience. Overall, the staff failed to communicate the delays effectively, leaving us unsure when our food would arrive. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and stressed, which impacted the attentiveness of the service. Given the busy holiday and the promise of reservations, we expected a smoother experience, but the service fell far short. While the ambiance and some food quality met our expectations, the numerous service issues overshadowed what could have been a great night. read more

This is my updated review. This restaurant continues to be awesome and is following all safety guidelines while ensuring everyone gets a great meal and excellent service. We just ordered today for Christmas Eve from their catering menu. If you haven't yet decided where to go or don't want to cook, I highly recommend checking out their catering menu. Even if you can't have a big Christmas gathering, they have half trays for 6-8 people that actually will feed more. Their portions are big and very delicious, and they are just so accommodating to your needs. Total disappointment with this place. I should've listened to the reviews before coming here. First off, we arrived early to our reservation and were promptly seated, so the first impression seemed a little promising. Wrong. We did not have our waiter come to us for a good 15 minutes and that's only because I had to flag someone down. Monday is pasta night, so a drink, salad, main dish and a choice of dessert came with my meal. I ordered a coke which tasted absolutely awful. It must have been an off-brand because it was not the normal flavor. To pass the time, I asked for an order of garlic knots which THEY. DO. NOT. HAVE! What?! How do you call yourself an Italian restaurant if you do not serve garlic knots??!! That's a first! Caesar salad came out which was fine. I mean, how can you mess that up? My boyfriend ordered a chicken dish which he said was pretty good. My pasta was horrible! The sauce was completely absent so I had to FLAG our waiter down to see if they can bring out extra sauce. Still, was not good even with the ridiculously chunky sauce. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate cake and my boyfriend ordered chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. Ice cream comes out and of course it's without the sauce. We predicted something would be messed up at that point. Cake was pretty good and I'm just guessing that's because it was not made in-house. Honestly, one of the best kept secrets on the North Fork. We've been coming to Ruggeros for several years for the great food, terrific ambiance and super attentive service. The restaurant is one of our family's favorites for good Italian food. The beautiful glass room behind the main restaurant is perfect for parties of 30-75 guests. Yesterday, we celebrated my daughter's baby shower and could not have been happier. From the moment we met Allysa who assisted us with planning our event, we were confident that we would be well taken care of. The night before our event, she reviewed all details and allowed us access to the room so that we could get set up, then we enjoyed yet another great Rugerios dining experience. On the day of the event, everything went flawlessly and the staff quickly responded to any of our guests needs. In addition to Alyssa, many thanks to Carlos and Jonathon our servers, you guys were great. Our guests were served family style and many could not believe how many dishes kept coming. The opportunity to bring home delicious leftovers was greatly appreciated. We received so many compliments from our guests about the food, ambiance and staff. After a rather long day my spouse and I went here for dinner. Our server was fantastic. The soup special was a seafood chowder that was delicious and huge. I was completely shocked at the size of the portion but my spouse helped in consuming this delicious chowder. My spouse ordered the penne a la vodka with chicken which was delicious. I ordered the lobster ravioli with traditional cream sauce which sadly was too salty and I regretfully returned and exchanged for a delicious rigatoni. No malt vinegar was offered, so I asked for marinara...which showed up well after we had all finished eating, this rendering it useless. I'd understand if it were busy, but the server had 3-4 tables. We were very disappointed in the Veal Marsala, the sauce was awful and mom couldn't eat it. The lasagna was not hot when served. The Monday/Tuesday $24.95 pasta special with wine, salad, entree, small dessert offered a lot for the money. I have been wanting to try Ruggero's for a while and a dear friend invited me for lunch today. The restaurant is beautiful and the food and service was excellent from beginning to end. The bread they bought out with the herb butter was fresh and delish as was the salad that came with my lunch entrée. My chicken francese did not disappoint. Chicken was cooked perfectly and the francese was so so so good. I'll be enjoying the other half of that meal for my dinner tonight :-) Our waiter Damien was the best and an absolute pleasure ! September 4, 2023 around 2:30pm. Bad customer service of an establishment usually reflects how unprofessional their manager is. In this case, do not terminate the inadequate untrained female server, fire Carlos who blamed (and seemed proud) that his staff including the kitchen cooks made mistakes. He wouldn't apologize until he was asked to. We moved to Riverhead a year ago. We usually like this place which is the reason why we bring our family here when they come to visit us. So why one star? The usual server who was helping us was busy so another server (Caucasian female) "tried" to help us. She doesn't seem to know much but we kept giving her positive vibes until she gave our food to the next table, who ate our food until they realize it's not theirs (?). After more than 20 minutes, that family complemented, the server apologized, took the (our) dishes back and gave them their food which was on the kitchen counter all that time. We waited for her to give our food or at least ask us if "everything is ok" Apparently, we did not get an apology from her after waiting for more than 30 minutes. We felt disrespected and left. We saw her at the cash register and asked her if she made a mistake giving our food to someone else. She admitted it with no remorse. No, we didn't get an apology either. We called the restaurant and spoke to the manager named Carlos. Instead of apologizing, he kept defending the mistakes by his staff including that waitress and all the kitchen staff. He kept explaining why it happened without saying "I'm sorry for your bad experience." He kept defending them! This is just plain bad customer. It's unfortunate that no one wants to apologize as if we, the customers, deserved to be mistreated by their staff. Such a horrible experience that we have to walk out. Please forgive the length of this review as I really really enjoyed my meal. Tonight for my wife and I anniversary we decided to try out this one. The meal I had tonight far exceeded any expectation I have ever had of this restaurant. Ruggerio's is going to become a new destination for me. from the moment we walked in the door when we were greeted by the hostess who had such a pleasant smile and made us feel welcomed. We're escorted to our table where we were greeted almost immediately with warm bread and a smile. To begin we started with fried calamari. It was light and crispy and not saturated in oil like I've had it many other Italian places. It was absolutely cooked perfectly. I luck out when my wife and I order this because she likes the rings and I like the tentacles. This was a good mix of both. Our waiter Damien was so attentive throughout our entire meal. He made recommendations on the entrees that were spot-on. The specials were well thought of and perfectly executed. My wife and I ordered two separate meals and a plate of broccoli to share. Normally when we order broccoli we always ask the chef to put extra garlic and you might get one or two pieces this was loaded with garlic and out of this world. I had a beef short rib pasta where are the short ribs fell apart. The noodles were cooked al dente just the way I like it. The salad was the tricolor salad on special and it was amazing. It was perfectly dressed and perfectly seasoned. For dessert we ordered something called a chipwich. to be honest with you we expected little tiny cookies with a little bit of cannoli cream in them. This dessert I would like to gush over. The cookie was soft and the cannoli cream was one of the best I have had in a very long time. the table next to us talked about how great of an experience it was as they were leaving and I didn't understand what they meant until we were enjoying our meal. Damien was such a wonderful server he was funny and attentive and genuinely cared about the table. Not only am I recommending ruggerio's I would also love to give my recommendation to ask for Damien as your server. He was hysterical. it was very nice to be able to go out without the kids tonight and we did not feel rushed at all. We could choose from pasta nite pre fix or family style. We went with family style. Apple walnut gorganzola salad, ceasar salad, calamari and fried mozzarella balls. Penne ala vodka, pappardelle with short rib, meatballs, shrimp with linguine, chicken francese and eggplant parmesan. Everything was hot, delicious and plentiful.
