Every dish is cooked perfectly and made with high-quality ingredients that you can truly taste. I used to come here all the time and tonight reminded me why. Food is always fresh and delicious. Though it's an old building, seating is outside overlooking a beautiful lake which is perfect for a summers day. Friendly and attentive staff and reasonably priced. Truffle Ricotta was a massive hit, creamy and bright. Also seemed to be extremely popular as anyone coming out of the kitchen was carrying a plate of it to bring to a table. Arugula Salad was solid, asked for rare steak and came out perfectly cooked. Pork Chop Milanese was outstanding. Will definitely not be waiting so long to make a return trip. read more

So as my previous review gave 4 stars. We were a large group and we had a good time. I guess the company we were with was a driving force for the 4 Stars. Unfortunately I feel that I have to take one star away with this visit. Allow me to explain. First it was a rainy dreary day. Parking, Oye, very limited and difficult pulling in and out. It took a minute to seat us but not a big deal. Only one bathroom in the restaurant which was a bit uncomfortable. We estates on the rear deck where there are plastic or vinyl windows. As I mentioned it as rainy and cold and the cold wind was coming through the windows. They have heaters on the rear deck but they were not very effective. I had the Rigatoni Bollonese, which was very good. My wife had some kind of chicken. Not the greatest. I know they get good reviews but this day was a bust. read more

Came here with some girlfriends for lunch. It's a nice small place on the water with good food. I did ask for corn to be on the side of my dish and not included on it and it came with it. The waitress said she told them to put it on the side but luckily I could remove it. I know it was an appetizer but it looks like they just threw it on the plate. I went the other night with a friend and we sat outside. It was a lovely, summer night. Our waiter was Sean and he was very sweet and accommodating. We ordered appetizers and entrees. I had the tuna tacos for an app, my friend, got the scallops and for entrees, I had the pork chop milanese and my friend had the halibut with risotto. She also had two glasses of paumonk resling. The bill was about $152. Each glass of wine was $15. The meal was good, but quite expensive. I wouldn't say, its a place I could frequent often, due to the high prices. It is nice for a special outing. The outside setting by the river is quite beautiful. read more

Made a reservation ahead of time days advance, we were a party of 7 celebrating my mom's birthday. We were very excited to come and try this place and left disappointed. We were treaded poorly. Staff was rude when we tried checking in and we were sent away. After finally letting us check in they said they didn't have a table for us that they're too busy. And we over heard that they were setting space a for a party of 40. Again, we also made a reservation an advance. We couldn't get a table at all and ended up leaving the restaurant. I wish we were told that. Staff was not helpful at all. Overall it was not a good service. Poor communication and customer service. Do better read more

Day tripping on Long Island came to an end with this amazing place. Let's start with seating.. there is a deck which is covered with plastic type walls. Don't make reservation for this spot. Make tour reservations to sit outside. You're sitting right in-front of the lake. They have many tables in the shade and tables with umbrellas. Great place for pictures, watching kayakers float by. They have Adirondack chairs where you can wait for your table and get a drink. We went for lunch but decided to sit in the Adirondack chairs with some drinks and music that we ended up actually having dinner. We started off with then bbq shrimp which came with guac and pico de gallo - amazing.. Not what I expected but dang was it good. We then had Caesar salad which was so creamy, delish. I absolutely love this place. I was last here in 2018 and prices were a bit higher. I remember they served duck back then. Was here a day ago and I love that prices have come down. Dishes are delicious and affordable. Plus, you can't beat that view! I love sitting by the river. I went on a Tuesday and it was relatively packed. I can't imagine visiting on a weekend I believe this place does take reservations. I highly encourage doing so when coming on the weekend. I ordered a mojito and it was delicious as well. Drove out east for the day to celebrate my wife's birthday with her family. To start, the parking is absolutely abysmal - there are only a few spots in front of the actual restaurant, and the spill over lots across the street make you rely on a gap in traffic (which on Main Street Riverhead is always a gambit) I'm not being too critical on that just based on the location, but it would have been nice to maybe have a cross walk or SOMETHING so it's safer to cross the street. Reservation was made for 6pm and we arrived a few minutes early, but for some reason were not sat until 30-40 minutes later. I understand that it was a Saturday night, but if you claim to not take walk ins, then there must have been something going on with the way they sat people. -1 star Once we were eventually sat, it did take some time for our waiter to come over, which he was very pleasant. There were a number of really good dishes on the menu, and with the party we were with, there was something for everyone. We tried to place a simple order of pasta without butter for our kids, but there seemed to be some sort of issue with that, which I found weird. I ordered the Tuna Tacos which were good, but needed a little bit of salt to tie them together since the cucumber overpowered the whole appetizer. My MIL got the shrimp salsa which was fantastic (I got to try it and wish I got that instead). I ordered the duck breast, but my wife and MIL's order was incorrectly placed (the gnocchi special was with a pesto sauce and the regular was with a tomato base sauce, hence the confusion) with the kitchen so but the time all our food was at the table, the moment has passed and half the party was almost done with their entrees. -1 star Overall, I thought the food was good, not great, but with the location being right on the water, it's definitely geared more towards a romantic couples date night. Came for a birthday dinner after hitting up a vineyard, this restaurant is at a prime location right by the water. We enjoyed a bunch of their appetizers such as the mussels, clams, and ricotta. This is my favorite restaurant in Long Island. Not only is their food and drinks amazing, but the views are to die for! The restaurant is nestled right on the Peconic River, with outside and inside dining options. Their lunch menu is updated daily, and dinner menu seasonly. We went for dinner and started off with cocktails. Then ordered the Goat Cheese Bruschetta and Seared Tuna as appetizers. I chose Salmon for dinner, which was pan seared over sauteed spinach with creamy risotto, and let me say, best Salmon plate I've ever had! Farm Country Kitchen advertises themselves as the essence of rural North Fork living with the freshest ingredients, and they are absolutely correct! We've been here quite a bit since my last review and I have to say that each time was amazing! This past visit was more of the same amazing food, service and atmosphere. We always like eating out in the enclosed patio, and in the cold winter months they have their heaters going, which make it nice and cozy. The view is beautiful and it was just perfect during out last visit with the snow all around. I had the halibut which was cooked to perfection. My husband had an amazing steak and our friends had the duck. Every dish was perfect! They also have a great wine selection and awesome cocktails, which we all started with. We all had the margarita's which were delicious. I forgot to ask if they still allow you to bring your own wine, but even if they don't, their selections are great and their prices are very reasonable. This place gets really crowded in the warmer months, but it was also very crowded when we went. It's a good thing we called ahead and made a reservation because the place was packed. I was surprised since it was an extremely frigid night, but that is how great this place is! We are lucky to live so close, but if you don't, it is definitely worth the trip! read more

We made a reservation for Father's Day and chose to sit on the deck. There was a little bit of a wait as they were prepping the table. I was disappointed that the covering to the deck blocks the view of the river, unless you're standing. Sitting outdoors by the river would have been a better view for sure. We had the fried artichoke appetizer which was really tender on the inside and expertly fried on the outside. We got 2 cocktails to start off the dinner. I got the lamb chops which were made medium as requested, really delicious, with vegetables and potato. I would recommend the warm apple cobbler for dessert. Looks different than usual but really has all the flavors to round out the meal. They have extra parking lot across the street. I would return next time if I'm in the area again. read more

I really wanted to like this place. After my recent, third (and last) visit...I give up. There are so many nice things about it: Its not easy to get to, which makes it kind of cool. Management has done an admirable job of creating customer parking, the building itself is very nice. The view and the vibe are excellent. The staff are all warm and friendly. Unfortunately, food is a significant part of the restaurant business and the food here just isn't good. Goat Cheese Bruschetta was toasted bread with a shmear of what I guess was goat cheese, topped with whole berries: strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Bizarre. My half duck arrived Luke warm and dry from an obvious re heating, covered with a jellied demi glaze. It sat, inexplicably, on a bed of wilted arugula. Sides of limp green beans and pasty sweet potatoes were served separately. My wife's gnocchi were almost full defrosted. They arrived in flavorless red sauce topped with cold balls of mozzarella. I asked for a glass of Merlot. The server returned to notify me that "we don't have merlot, but we have a moltepulciano, which is the same thing" (it is not the same thing) I could go on, but feel I have made my point. Oh, almost forgot, the above plus a cocktail rang up to $75pp including the tip which, a note on the menu asked me to leave in cash to offset credit card fees that restaurants pay. (Not my problem) So, as a local resident who really wants to support the local dining scene in Riverhead, I cross yet another place off the list. Sad. read more

Today, I had an amazing lunch at the Farm Country Kitchen, a charming rustic eatery nestled on the banks of the Peconic River in Riverhead, NY. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly staff and the inviting atmosphere of this colonial home built in the late 1800s. We started with some delicious Baked Clams topped with garlic and special seasoning, and the Guacamole, Salsa, and Homemade Chips were the perfect complement! For the main course, I indulged in the Sliced Steak Sandwich, grilled to perfection and served with garlic seasoning, melted mozzarella, and a fresh spring mix salad. The Carmine was another highlight--breaded chicken with sautéed broccoli rabe, prosciutto, and melted provolone on Italian bread with basil pesto. Absolutely divine! I couldn't resist trying the Rigatoni Bolognaise, a rich blend of home-ground filet, veal, and pork, finished with ricotta cheese and grilled basil pesto bread. The Tomassio Pasta was equally delightful, featuring angel hair pasta tossed with fresh tomatoes, roasted garlic, and goat cheese. It's super hard to find, but once you know where it is it's worth the quest to get there! There's no parking at the actual restaurant, so if you're traveling east bound, turn on the street right before the auto place...on the left there's a parking lot. So, once you find it, and climb down the stairs if you want to eat outside...the view is STUNNING. There are picnic type tables but with actual chairs and it's akin to eating in a park with good seats. Service was...relaxed, which was fine for a Halloween in the high 70's! We were in no rush, but figured I'd mention in case you are. Food was very good. Sales, sandwiches, fun apps...I love that they had an entire specials sheet with Halloween themed choices--so fun! We all shared the fried artichoke hearts--they were fine. A bread crumb crust. I've had them before with a flour and egg batter and preferred that, but these were tasty. Also, the baked clams--YUM! Sandwiches; there were two steak sandwiches and one portion. Everyone raved. I got the "Transylvania Salad". This should always be on the menu. The shrimp were huge and cooked nicely. Salad had lots os arugula balanced by the crunch of red cabbage shreds. Homemade croutons, small balls of fresh water mozzarella...but the best part was the Basil dressing. I'll admit, I was nervous. SO many times you order an herb-based dressing and it's awful dried herbs. Not the case here--super fresh basil and grated cheese gave it an almost pesto flavor. SO delicious. My only disappointment was I asked for another dressing and our server brought something different which I didn't taste before dumping it on my salad. I think it may have been the Lemon Basil? I much prefer the Basil dressing...again, should ALWAYS be on their menu. I would go here again in a heartbeat. I'm curious to experience it indoors when it's colder. Oh, also, we didn't even realize there was a bar until we were leaving...might have ordered a glass of wine or craft beer had we known. Farm Country Kitchen is a hidden gem! I found this eatery while kayaking the Peconic last summer and am thrilled I finally tried it. Sitting along the river, nestled in greenery, it's like dining in a forest fairy wonderworld. I enjoyed my Montauk sandwich, which included fried shrimp, avocado, tomatoes, and remoulade on a potato bun with a side of potato salad. My grandmother had the crab cake sandwich and kept talking about how delicious and fresh it was. We took lots of pictures, especially when our juicy, fruity mocktails came out. Beautiful views while dining, but keep your eyes wide opened to find this place as it easily blends into the landscape as a typical cottage from the street. Farm country kitchen is located on a very, very busy Main street as cars in both directions come whizzing by. There are no stop lights, stop signs, or pedestrian crosswalks. I may have to dress up as a school crossing guard to slow/stop the traffic just to get to the other side:) NOTE: There is parking across the street marked for the restaurant, but the lot is small. Limited parking in the front and you have to park head in, just be careful backing into the main street when you leave. If weather permits, the outdoor seating is beautiful. The view of the lake is refreshing and picturesque, just like a scenic painting from the Great Bob Ross. We sat inside as the weather was windy. We ordered the following: * Baked clams - butter and seasoned bread crumbs. * Sorrento Panini - breaded chicken cutlets with spinach and sun-dried pesto cold side salad * Roberto pasta - boneless chicken, penne pasta, romano cheese, garlic, cherry tomato, asparagus, onion, garlic, and cooked in a creamy basil pesto sauce. * Blackberry ricotta cheesecake - smooth, light, fluffy and semi dense perfection. Great with a cup of coffee. The clams were garlicky delicious as we're the seasoned bread crumbs. The Sorrento was moist but sort of one dimensional as the chicken was bland and could have used more seasonings. The Roberto pasta was delicious since the pesto infused cream gave a bright and herbaceous flavor. This was my favorite dish. The service was top notch and prices reasonable. This place is 2.5 miles from the Tanger outlet, so this is a great place to recharge your batteries so you can go back to your shopping. read more

There are 3 separate lots so check each one for parking. Restaurant is in the back along the river. Hostess greeted us promptly and gave 2 options for seating. We choose outdoor along the river. Started with guacamole and chips. Sent it back as chips were stale. Seafood mix with linguini was a large portion, served hot, sauce had no flavor. Added salt to every bite. Date ordered duck with sweet potato and string beans. Duck was flavorful with lots of fat, string beans were raw, needed to be cooked more, sweet potato was soft but again had no flavor. Many Choices of beer in cans and bottles. Lovely seating along the lake although some table ate benches. For $42/entree, every seat should have back support. As far as the food, tonight's steak quality was on par with Texas Roadhouse, the first time that brought us back was Michelin star, I'm so disappointed as we came here for a special occasion. The issue starts with the quality of the meat itself was bad, very chewy and hard to cut. The way it was cooked was even worse, I asked for medium rare filet mignon & half my steak was medium well & the other end was medium. My date asked for medium strip steak and received well done, picture included. We brought it to the attention of the wait staff helping us and they offered a complimentary dessert which was nice. Service was fairly quick, drinks came out almost instantly. The drinks were outstanding. Very flavorful and interesting cocktail menu. My table had pasta dishes and they were both fantastic. Desert was also great too, the creme brûlée cheesecake! We spoke to the chef outside and he seemed like a lovely person who takes a lot of pride in his work. Very personable. Wow! Just wow... I've heard so much about Farm Country Kitchen so when finishing an afternoon out on the north fork with a friend we decided to go here on a whim. Our whim turned into an amazing dinner. We were sat right away in an outdoor/screened in space. The place gives off farm vibes but with a hip and fun twist. Like you know they are throwing hoedowns in the dining spot closer to the Peconic River til all hours of the night (at least I hope they are). By the way, the river is totally viewable and is such a cool feature to the restaurant. Appetizer - Baked Clams...TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!!! One of THE BEST Baked Clams I have ever had. They are kept whole with the perfect amount of breadcrumb ratio. Blown away... For the main event, I had the Crescent duck salad. Whenever I can get duck, I try to partake because I will never attempt to cook it at home. When I saw The Crescent duck salad on the menu I knew I need to jump on this opportunity. The fruit that was in the salad was perfect with the tangy dressing, and my duck was cooked perfectly. My friend had the rigatoni Bolognese and she enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed my salad. A hidden gem in Riverhead that is right on the river. Came for lunch and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. At first, I was a little confused on where to park and where to go to be seated. Once we were seated, we had a great experience! There are many seating options, but we chose the picnic table in front of the river. The employees were very friendly and helpful.
