We have been going here for many moons and the quality of the food and flavors are Always consistent. My favorite is the Rueban and my husband loves their burgers. We have eaten other items on the menu and have never been disappointed. We have also brought family & friends to eat with us here. The restaurant is always clean as are the bathrooms. They also have a bar counter where you can sit and have food. You can also play quick pick there too if you're so inclined. I have never had any issues with any staff members every one has been nice that we have come into contact with. The wait for food is normal , your not waiting forever for your food to come out. Stopped in the Friday before St Patrick's day for lunch. Seated quickly, and my pint o' Guinness showed up quickly too. I ordered the short ribs and my wife ordered the Shepard's pie. Short ribs were way overdone. The meat was tender yet way too hot, like it had been excessively heated or microwaved. The gravy was a very dark brown, overdone and just way too heavily flavored. My wife's Shepard's pie actually seemed to be using the same overdone gravy. Thick layer of mashed potatoes and the thinnest layer of barely there meat/ground beef and vegetable(corn among them). Came with a slice of soda bread that was butter soaked and way overbrowned on the griddle. We've been going there a steady 4-6 times a year few for the last 20+ years and had our son's 21st birthday there as well. Food there has been on a downward spiral for a while now. read more

From the outside, Diggers looks like a dimly lit hole in the wall serving up Chili's level food. In this case, appearances are more than deceiving. I visited near closing time on a weekday. There were a few patrons hanging out at the bar, but not much beyond that. I can best describe the ambience as an Irish dive bar. The bartender was attentive and friendly. I was promptly served a drink and my food order was taken within a couple minutes. Despite it being prime rib night, I order the Hot Wings and Pub Fries. The wings were nicely fried and have plenty of hot sauce of them. They came out crispy and hot, and were served with an above average restaurant ranch sauce. The wings were huge, and really hit the spot. Next I tried the pub nachos. If you are a cardiac patient, I don't recommend them, but for everyone else, I highly recommend. Perfectly smothered in a mix of shredded and melted cheese with bacon. I was looking for a tasty heart attack on a plate... and that exactly what I got. I was pleasantly surprised all the way around. The only good thing about this place was that my companion said the chicken vegetable soup was very good. I ordered a hamburger medium. The hamburger came out as a burnt crust with a filling of completely raw ground beef. Once I broke through the burnt crust, it was as raw as a package of ground beef from the market. It was disgusting. The chicken fingers and fries were just okay. I would give it one star, but the soup earned it an extra star. read more

Diggers is exactly what it's supposed to be; a neighborhood staple w a solid selection of whiskey, really good bar food, and a few elevated dishes that some people will complain about because they loose sight of the fact they are eating in a a bar (Diggers ALE and eats. It's in the name gang. Pay attention) It ain't fine dining. It's good food and good booze served by people who aren't going to fold your napkin when you go to the bathroom. Diggers is an iconic Irish pub in downtown Riverhead. We have eaten here before, and I must say that their burgers are outstanding. Hubby had one of their signature burgers, that had pastrami, swiss cheese, grilled onions, and of course an 8 ounce burger on a brioche bun. He enjoyed it very much. I read about their new chef in a local paper and I opted for one of their specials that was offered. A seafood linguine, and although it was tasty, I think I should have opted for the duck confit , I will do that the next time we eat there. Last night my friend and I went to Digger's for dinner, our favorite restaurant in Riverhead. We both ended up ordering the same thing for dinner - French Onion Soup (Digger's has the best so far,) Pork Nachos Starter and the Nutty Irishman Specialty Coffee for Dessert. As always, everything was delicious. The staff is very friendly, and their service is excellent. First time here. Very famous bar and I can see why, bartenders are amazing and very friendly. Got there before the team showed up. I sat at the bar and it appears, happy hour is really happy. People having a great time. We were a party of ten with no reservations and we were seated immediately. Now that's service! Water was out in no time and waitress took our drink order. They must have known we were from the city. I ordered a Caesar salad without meat and I got a whole head of lettuce which I managed to finish between talking and laughing it vanished. Went there with my son on Father's Day we had the lobster rolls and they were delicious even the charcuterie board went over well. Great food, service and beers. I really enjoyed this place. What I didn't like was the customer service charge they added on our bills. We had a party of 8 adults and 2 kids. Reasonable menu. This is our 2nd time here. Both were for lunch, both times with my kids during day hours. They do have a kids menu. Would love to come for drinks at night and catch some adult fun. I had the fish and chips special. Unlike other reviewers, mine was very good. Crispy breading, not greasy, generous piece of Irish soda bread with waffle fries. I did not leave hungry. $6 kid menu, how can you beat it? $4 for a root beer? I think is a little excessive for a dive-ish Irish pub. Same with $3 for a soda in a small glass with lots of ice. Will that stop me from coming again? No. Food is good, and food prices are reasonable. Place is clean. Good for large groups too. Another Irish Bar under my belt and another 5-Star review!!!! My wife and I finally checked off a bucket list item and came to Long Island for a mini staycation. Again, with the help of Yelp!, I found this place and we decided to give it a go. ***** Let me start out by saying this... If you GPS the address you may get a bit confused on where you can park - especially the day I was there and there was a street fair going on and the road was blocked. But, have no fear! Make a right (or left, depending on which way you're coming from) onto Peconic Ave and there's a parking lot to which has plenty of free, close parking to the restaurant. We arrived about 5:30ish and upon entering, two things were very noticeable... 1, it was popular and packed, and B, it was packed, so it must be popular!! It was a Holiday Weekend, Sunday, and not a seat to be found at the bar, but as luck would have it, two people were just finishing up and we scored two seats. Even though it was a madhouse of bar patrons, the bartenders were on point and very attentive. The bartender whos name escapes me.. John, Jeremy, Justin..? Crap.. Don't remember, but he certainly took great care of us! I ordered my go-to, Black and Tan.. Perfect pour! For eats, I saw wings and a steak sammach come out that looked incredible, so we ordered some wings for an app, and they came out piping hot, very meaty and with a char finish! Pretty damn good wings! For my meal, I ordered their Marinated Steak Sammach, with a side of Waffle Fries: Marinated Filet Medallions, melted mozzarella on a garlic club roll. Served with horseradish. Perfect sammach!! So, my wife and I had a couple drinks and had a great time! We will definitely return if we're ever in the area again! Thanks again!! We have stopped in for drinks a couple times and enjoyed the bar atmosphere with friendly patrons and friendly, attentive bartenders. The other night we brought the kids for dinner and we were really impressed with the food we ordered. My jerk chicken bowl was delicious and plentiful. My husband steak was as good as some steak houses without the steakhouse price. I tried a bite and found it delicious as well. My son and daughter enjoyed their burgers. We really did not expect too much from a sports bar type restaurant but we were all pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. The friendly staff a nice bonus as well. Stopped by for a random lunch, wife had the 8oz burger, crispy perfect waffle fries, I had the Rueben...(that I get about all the places I go on my travels). Sausage/ cabbage soup was ordered as well. Amazing is all I can say. Best Reuben I've ever had, hands down. Seriously, And I've eaten a bunch. Service seems fine, the people are courteous and attentive but that's all I believe is done well. The price for add ons doesn't align with menu prices ordered an 18 dollar burger added 3 things and the price jumped to $40. Decided to give the place another try with the Duck Carbonara it was very very underwhelming the dish had good flavor but had virtually no sauce whatsoever and the "duck breast" is more along the lines of a few small pieces of semi shredded duck meat, I can definitely tell that it was not a full ducks breast worth of meat in the pasta very disappointing for the price of 36 bucks definitely not worth it read more

Asked about dairy allergy and server tried to tell us all bread has dairy (the item in question was brioche which is dairy, but simply wanted to substitute white bread or roll) to which she questioned me and said all bread has dairy. Pulled pork was worse than theme park food, ordered a dozen wings and only got 6, and again rather than offering to check with the kitchen got told we can't eat bread and we're wrong even though my girlfriend is the one living with the allergies; I know what she can and cannot eat, as well as the standard ingredients for normal bread lol. Overpriced as well, and water cups were stuck when we sat down to a clearly dirty table ( wouldn't care but cups were upside down so the part you sip was stuck to table from filth) read more

Absolutely horrible service. Stopped in on a Sunday with a small group to have a quick lunch. We waited behind a group of 2 to get seated, and after about 5 minutes, the group of 2 got seated. (The restaurant was nearly empty at the time). About 10 minutes after the group of 2 got seated, we were still waiting to be seated, completely ignored by staff. We asked the bartender when we would get seated because we couldn't get a straight answer from the wait staff. Absolutely horrible experience, I will never return. Beyond that, I should have listened to the other reviews. The wait time was inexcusable. The waiter said that the kitchen was "so backed up" because of all the meals being ordered, however, for lunch, there was barely anyone there. The table next to me was infuriated that their meal was taking so long, and I felt the same way. All we ordered was wings and burgers/ Drinks, and we waited for over an hour to be served. What can I say? I don't really agree with the pictures (mostly from the business owner) and some reviews you read about in regards to this place. Granted, I've only eaten here once, and I may give this spot another shot, but my experience was completely opposite. The pictures I'm posting should explain why. I ordered the fish and chips for lunch from their lunch menu. The cod was heavily breaded and fried in oil that didn't seem to be changed in a while. The "Irish soda bread" was a joke. It look the pre-made bread was from a piece of French toast with raisins that they simply threw a boat ton of butter on the griddle and refried the bread, while completely burning the raisins. You gotta see the pictures the get a better idea. The restaurant itself is dank and dark. Not that I mind that atmosphere, sometimes I prefer that look. It's just that, the place looked like it needed a good sweeping is all. I haven't tried most of the food on the menu, and Im just judging this place based on first impressions. I normally wouldn't write a review on a place I visited only once unless it blew my socks off, or in this scenario, disappointing from the get go. You decide. read more

I came here in order to watch the jet game with my fiancee. In order to see the T.V. we had to sit at the bar which we didn't mind at all. The bartender was super nice and friendly and very helpful. For food we decided to split some wings and nachos. The nachos were huge deff enough to split with two people probably even more. Also the wings were good as well! As for a drink I saw they had Truly on tap and the bartender offered to make me a mixed drink with it and it came out amazing. This place is a great place to come and grab some food and a few drinks! If I'm ever in the area again I will be sure to stop by. read more
