Great time celebrating my husband's birthday dinner last night. Waitress was quick and attentive give. Fried calamari was fresh and loved the sauce that came with it. The bread was nothing special - just plain bread, and they didn't give it to us unless we asked. My husband's short rib with red wine sauce was fantastic. My chicken fingers and fries were ok. Came here for late lunch/early dinner. Looked at the menu and saw it wasn't inexpensive. Was Leary that a place on the water would be charging just for the ambiance. I was surprised at how good everything was. The server, a young man with reddish hair, I can't remember his name, so I apologize, he was great! The drinks we got were awesome. We got nachos as a family appetizer, could not have been better. I got shrimp tacos, they were perfect, so good. My wife got the mussels, they were cooked and prepared perfectly. We walked in for Saturday lunch on a hot summer day and were surprised to find it so busy. Luckily we were seated right away because there were some tables inside, though the outside patio area looked great. I got wine, which was really forgettable, and we ordered just entrees as we weren't keen on having any leftovers for our ride back home. I got the seafood linguine which came with a heaping full of clams, mussels and a few plump shrimp. My friend had the lobster roll, which was the Maine style mayo kind and came with fries. The seafood linguine was good. I felt there was a good, generous amount of seafood and the sauce was that slightly spicy marinara. I had a bite of the lobster roll and it was good as well. I like buttery warm lobster roll better, but honestly this was not bad and had thick chunks of well-cooked lobster. Overall, this place was pretty solid for a last-minute lunch pick. Enjoyed a great meal with really pleasant service at "On the Docks." We sat by the window and enjoyed the view of the water and the sky even though it was too cool to sit on the deck. We had the clams in cajun broth with toast which is really full of flavor and one of my favorites. Then my husband and I shared the lamb chop dinner with fresh delicious broccoli. It was cooked just as requested and was very well prepared. Enjoyed it. A bit disappointed bc they were out of the tall chocolate cake. Will have that on next trip! read more

Beautiful harbor view with water and sail boats, the environment is very calming. The interior design is also somewhat nautical with its color scheme and decorations. Staring out the large windows on a beautiful day is really a treat. Our group of seven certainly enjoyed the atmosphere. As for the food, we were able to share a bunch of different dishes from the menu. Honestly nothing too special, but also nothing bad either, so mostly middle of the road. My favorites were probably the Shrimp Po'Boy and French Dip Sandwich. The Baked Grouper, Potato Gnocchi, and Rueben were all decent. I didn't try the salmon, but my friend said that it was great, and it was a huge portion. Our servers were very friendly and have the sharpest ears ever. They heard what we needed and fulfilled our needs quickly. The only unfortunate thing was that they weren't able to come by as often when the restaurant got busy, therefore our glasses were often left empty. What I have come to realize about the far east on Long Island is that there are many beautiful restaurants that offer average food, but always provide nice decor and solid service. Usually the prices are a bit high, but the portion sizes are also quite reasonable. On The Docks follows that exact formula and I don't hate them for it. read more

Drove 30 minutes to get there. The drinks and bartender were great. We asked to move to a table to eat and closed our tab. Upon ordering we told the server we wanted 4-5 appetizers and she said we couldn't have a table unless we ordered an entree. My husband asked for the manager because we couldn't fathom this decision. Four to five appetizers are more than an entree. The manager came out and confirmed the policy and we couldn't believe it. We explained there was no way we could fit 5 appetizers at the bar. The manager stood by his decision so we left. We hit another restaurant on our way home and ordered 5 appetizers and spent over 200 bucks. I will never go back to this restaurant. I came here with some friends for a first time visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Two of us had the shrimp tacos, and my other friend had a salad with grilled chicken. The tacos were very flavorful and had a generous amount of grilled shrimp in them and we enjoyed the crispy french fries as well. I would definitely order that dish again. We loved sitting on the covered deck overlooking the marina and were in good hands with our waitress who was very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is located not too far from my house and it is somewhere I frequent. Between the seafood, to the salads to the meat options, everything is so fresh. The portions are sizable and it's quite reasonable! What I appreciate about this place is year after year, the quality and standards are so consistent. The service is fantastic. I had a server named Amanda I believe who was so knowledgeable and constantly checked in on us to make sure everything was ok and that glasses were constantly filled. Kudos to her for doing a great job! The restaurant itself is so lovely. It has a nice indoor area with A/C and a lovely outside area right on the water. We were sated in the back as the dock was closed due to high winds. Again greeted with a warm smile & very hospitable waitress. We order and my wife asks for the NOFO salad with a piece of Salmon that was on the menu (no modifications) she was told they cant do that? they can only do shrimp or chicken? I asked why and it was explained that the Chef cant's because where they prepare the salmon it is on the other side of the kitchen? when the server came back i told her i am in the hospitality business for many years & I never heard that kind of reasoning. I am a manager & our motto is the answer is yes what is the question? she had the shrimp tacos (soso) and I had the fried very small shrimp We always like going to on the docks when we are out that way. They didn't scoff at us when we refused dessert and mentioned we were heading to Snowflake next. Instead, our waitress called over a local wait staff to comment on the best homemade ice cream around. That alone deserves extra stars! My linguine clam sauce was more like linguine with clams. I haven't had any dish with so many clams perfectly cooked. The clams were just over the raw stage, like poached eggs, perfect. The broth was not heavily salted nor buttered. It was delicious enough to spoon after all the pasta was eaten. It was a good thing the dish came with a spoon. I forgot what my husband had to eat. I was too busy enjoying my dish. Linguine with clam sauce is my go to dish for Italian seafood restaurants, and this by far was the best. (Second to Siracusa.) The service was great and the ambiance by the water is beautiful. I took away 1 star because there were multiple flies inside the restaurant that you had to constantly swing away from your food. We also asked to be sat outside (it was empty) and the hostess told us "no". However, 5 minutes later she sat 3 other couples outside. The salad was fresh with added chicken, also delicious. No desserts Our server was extremely professional, I believe his name was Ryan. Restaurant was very clean and appeared adequately staffed.
