Our original plan was to go to the 1 North Steakhouse for happy hour since it was listed to be from 6:30-10. When we arrived at about 6:30, we were abruptly told by the hostess that this was a mistake and happy hour was only from 5-7p. At this point, we were there and decided to have dinner. We were seated immediately and water arrived at the table. Although we had the address, the location is a little off the beaten path. It has a very nice decor, very clean and pleasing to the eye. We were given menus shortly after being seated and ordered our drinks. My brother ordered a beer and I got an Aoerol spritz. In looking over the menu, we both decided on the house ground prime beef burger medium which came with all the fixings for a burger and shoestring fries. The burgers came out shortly after and in retrospect, we should have gotten them medium well but they were both delicious nonetheless. We finished our meal and were given a dessert menu which was tempting but my brother opted out and I got a double espresso. Our waitress was attentive and accommodating and was very knowledgeable about what was on the menu, what had been taken off the menu that partticular evening, which desserts were available, etc. She did check on us during the meal and at the end of the meal to see if we wanted any dessert. They have a wine list which was presented to us when we initially sat down. It is a pricey endeavor but this is to be expected at a steakhouse. For those who did not want steak or meat, there were also seafood options-shrimp scampi and salmon. It was a pleasant experience and I would recommend and will return. read more

We came with a reservation on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy. I loved the outside with a nice seating area around colorful florals. The building looks like a mini lighthouse. Service was efficient and friendly. I got the truffle airline chicken and my partner got the strip steak. Overall the flavors were pretty good. The sweet potato fries came with a cinnamon sauce. The mushroom demi glace and the cauliflower puree were delicious. My partner's steak was unevenly cooked with half being medium and the other half being medium rare. For cocktails, we got the strawberry lemonade, which was more sweet than tart, and the bourbon cherry sour. For dessert we got the smores chocolate mousse, which came with toasted marshmallows, graham crackers, and Hershey's pieces. It was good but too sweet for me to finish everything. Came here for dinner and had a very pleasant experience. Was sat promptly and within minutes, our server came over. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees. I highly recommend the Birria tacos and the chimmichurri flat iron if it's available as a special. Everything was well cooked but could have used a slight dash more of salt and the purple rice some slight more flavoring. Other than that, everything was great. A simple but very good steakhouse. Looks nice on the outside, small and maybe a little dated on the inside but it's clean and serves its purpose. The staff was incredible; friendly and attentive. Drinks were delicious- really enjoyed my dirty bleu as did everyone else at the table. The appetizers were tasty, but on the smaller side. If anything, that's my one knock on this place... Definitely go for the steaks (although I hear the pork chop is pretty good too) and what's nice is you actually get a potato and side included with your cut. Quiet Sunday night dinner! Made a reservation but it was not packed. Ordered the $50 pre fix that came with app, entree, and dessert. For app, I got the heirloom tomatoes with cheese. It was simple yet delicious! Balsamic glaze was drizzled on top and it was a healthy portion. For entree I got the NY strip which came with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. My daughter raved about One North Steakhouse, and I could not wait to go back after many years to experience it and enjoy our family celebration. I have to say it was exceptional food, service, and atmosphere. We were a large group, and the waitress Sandy and her assistant were incredibly attentive and friendly. They were spot on for service. Water is put on table before you sit which I thought was a little plus to the exceptional service. Food & cocktails were delicious, but my only beef (no pun intended) was that I offered to pay with cash - a large amount of the bill with a small amount on credit card - which would have lessened the $22 credit card fee. Asked if they could amend bill for me and they would not. So if you don't mind that extra charge, then restaurant is Wonderful! read more

It's hard to rate this against traditional a'la carte steakhouses because every entree come with a choice of 2 sides. Way better than J&Rs for all the locals who are familiar. The prices are reasonable for the type of meal you are enjoying. The staff is courteous & we were greeted with many smiles. 1 North is a good size restaurant & appeared to be clean. I have had the NYstrip there before which was very good but this time enjoyed a veal chop that was amazing! My lady had the chophouse burger & said she good taste the quality of the meat so being in her words she only likes "real food" I hold her option in high regard. From start to finish, a spectacular dining experience. We were greeted and seated immediately by the super cordial Jenny. Our waitress Aleasha was equally friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We kicked it off with some of the best Crab Cakes ever, all killer- no filler. Expertly cooked and served with a corn salsa. A special of Pan Seared Diver Scallops with a Truffled Pea Puree was out of this world! Onto the main event, meat. The 24 oz. Boneless Ribeye arrived with a beautiful char, accompanied by Roasted Mashed Potatoes and Green beans. The Grilled Veal Chop with Truffled Demi Glace was absolutely incredible! Since we had no room for dessert after this feast we ordered the Homemade Blueberry Crumb Cheesecake, a couple of Black Sambucas and Cappuccinos. A perfect way to end this perfect meal. Was conflicted over Porterhouse (whereby often either filet is overcooked or strip undercooked) vs. Ribeye. Went dry-rubbed Porterhouse, no regrets- cooked medium-rare-plus (which sounds like a bullish*t cooking time & probably is LOL) but strip wasn't raw or stringy, filet not dried out. Baby potatoes, creamed spinach (which was creamy but still left spinach shine), & sweet potato fries (which surpassed expectation) as sides. Eaten in plenty of Vegas steakhouses & have a favorite in NY metro area. What I appreciated about this meal, it wreaked of technique not tricks (no sticks of butter melted over top every square inch of meat buried in a salt crust), but solid preparation & execution that allowed each component to shine. The surroundings & service are simple (feels like what old fashioned steak house in your home town might feel like). I'm sour over bill. Steaks were $65 & $62 with $20 wing appetizer, yet bill totaled $185. I drank water, husband iced tea, & didn't order bread or dessert. This leaves roughly $38 unaccounted for on an unitemized bill. Either menu prices were inaccurate, sides were additional, tip was pre-included, or someone made mistake- any of which is unsettling. I deeply regret excusing this. 9/1/22 It's always an interesting and strange experience at 1 North Steakhouse. We have eaten here many times in the past 10 years with neighbors and friends and found the consistency to be lacking. The steaks are prime and beautifully cooked and pricy ($50-70) and we have no issue with that. The last time we were there (it was pre-Covid ) I ordered a veal chop that was so chewy and tough I had to return it and that is not something I usually do. This evening I was in the mood for a porterhouse steak which I ordered medium rare. Again the steak was very tender and beautifully cooked, perfectly seasoned. The accompanying roasted potatoes had a very odd flavor and I didn't enjoy them very much. The grilled asparagus were very grilled , kind of dried out and overly peppery. (if I had to guess they were cooked well in advance.) The Au poivre sauce was thin, watery, with no peppercorns at all. Hubby found his burger to be adequate but nothing to write home about, flavorless and a bit dry and he needed to ask for extra ketchup as the thimbleful that was offered to him was not enough for his burger and fries. I want to like this venue very much but the little things that bother me mean that we will probably not be returning in the near future. read more

This restaurant is one of our favorites in the Hamptons. We probably go 5 times a summer, but never on a weekend. Friday nights they have loud live music, which is more annoying than enjoyable when you are unable to have a conversation at your own table. Saturday nights are overflowed extremely loud and uncomfortable. The our favorites appetizers: sliders, sautéed baby clams and tuna, scallops with corn salsa (spicy). Wedge salad and Caesar salad were very good. We have NEVER had a bad steak here, all cooked to perfection. Our favorite entrées are steak, Long Island duck and the pork chop. They lose a star for the service. It's basic, like a diner, if your waitress is a little older. It's the season. We deal. No one goes out of their way for service in this restaurant. Generous bacon and a thick slice of red onion on the plate. Enjoyed every last bite. The Steak Fries are huge and crispy. Not very tasty, kind of bland. The Onion Rings are light and crispy. Everyone enjoyed them. My brother had the Ahi Burger. He raved about it. It had a topping of seaweed salad. It was his first time having Ahi or the seaweed and he said it was delicious. The only other complaint was that I asked for my burger Med-Rare and it was more Medium-Well. My brother asked for his Ahi Burger to be Medium and it came out Rare. I'm sure if we had said something they would have made it right but we were with another couple and didn't want to hold up their meals. Being a pescatarian, a steakhouse isn't my first option but after I looked at the menu, they did have options for me so I didn't mind. I did like they had a vegan entree as well as that is not normally an option at a steakhouse. Our waitress was the sweetest! Very personable! My friend and I got the watermelon rose sangria. Delicious!! We both really liked our drinks a lot. We got the sautéed clams and bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer. The clams were very good-a bit on the salty side..but good! Everyone LOVED the scallops. I got the shrimp scampi. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Everyone else got steaks and they all RAVED about how much they loved their meals. Cooked exactly as asked. And everyone said their side dishes were delicious. We all got desert. I had a special raspberry cheesecake. So so good!!! Oh, what a night!! I forget who sang the song but it was memorable. We took a shot at leaving campus on the north fork and ventured to One North in Hampton bays. The experience was like the first time if you get my gist?? The night was truly a 5-star experience. We weren't looking for a fancy night but we got way more than expected. We aren't Covid deniers but feel the risk is worth our supporting locally owned business. Chris and Lauren are hands-on owners who deserve the 5-star rating. Easy location on Montauk highway with plenty of parking. The grounds were perfectly manicured and outdoor seating was available. We chose the bar as we often do to get a feel for what the place is really like. Our masked bartender Troy greeted us and quickly served us an adult beverage ( the old fashion was perfect!) Great bartender! We split the Ceasar salad and my wife had the burger and I went with the Salmon. Ok, I wished I got the burger but the salmon with asparagus and jasmine rice was the best I ever ate. Oh yeah, I had a taste or two of the burger and fries and it too was over the top. Having sold meat in a past life I can tell you One North pays attention to the beef they are serving. Tasting it you will quickly understand the difference between goods, choice, and prime. Their beef is the real deal. Even the cappuccino was one of the best I ever had. how many times can I say that? The bottom line, it's a steak house and pricey but you won't mind paying for something that is of value and this place offers value. Was an out of towner that got a table for one. The service was slow to even take my drink order, let alone food. I sat there so long without attention that one of the patrons at a table nearby mentioned it. All I could say was, "hope it's all worth the wait!" I ordered the lobster bisque and ribeye. The lobster bisque, to my disappointment, was exactly how another Yelp!er described it -- watery and seemingly out of a can. (I've had better bisque at a diner back home for a 1/4 of the price.) The steak was ordered medium but came out well done and charred on the outside. The steak fries and asparagus were good. They did remake the steak for me after I mentioned the temperature issue. The re-attempt took awhile and was charred on the outside again. I think it was the dry rub burning when they try to sear? I would forego the dry rubbed option. But the temperature was closer this time. FYI- The chefs love pepper. Hope you do too. (Everything is peppery, even the soup, and they offer to add more pepper to it.) I was told I would be given a free dessert as an apology. The dessert was promptly forgotten about. I got there at 8p and they kept me there to 10 minutes until close (2 hours!) so I didn't have the interest in trying to fight for a free dessert I was promised. $75 gone. Living on the East End has caused us to spread our wings to find the type of quality restaurants were used to...seems like everything is 25-30 minutes away. We chose 1 North in Hampton Bays primarily due to their really good reviews on Yelp. And, it took about 28 minutes on 27 from Shirley to HB... The venue is quaint, a stand alone bldg with a light house. We were pleased at the casual atomosphere from the time we walked in and with the attention paid to us by the staff. The bar is rather large as you enter and has TV's and a good crowd. After being seated we ordered cocktails...Bon got her usual Patron Tequila Kamakaze and I the GG shaken up with 3 bleu cheese stuffed olives and served in a traditional large martini glass. The menu is limited and has specials such as Columbus Day. Their selections of Steak are for singles and no for two on the menu. For Appies we ordered Tuna Tartare on crisps and we shared a delish Wedge Salad. For Mains Bon got a special Grilled Veal Chop and I got the Confit Duck Leg...both delish and substantial portions. For dessert we shared a combo Sorbet of Mango and Strawberry...fresh, cold and a perfect finish for a great dinner. read more

We went for burger night. It was not crowded at all and our food took almost 2 hours to come out (4 burgers) which were over cooked and burnt. The waitress was extremely polite, took a burger off the bill but $175 for the time and lack of communication (saying food would be out soon, food was right behind her, a table that came in 45 minutes after us who had food didn't have burgers when they did, etc.) was absolutely horrendous. They claim to be a steakhouse but it looks like an old chilis. Don't go to this place. It was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant possibly ever. The welcome and service were great at the beginning. Wine and drinks selection is very good. Oysters as starter were fantastic ! My wife had flounder, which again was excellent. I had the aged strip steak which was dry and incredibly chewy. Major disappointment, more so when I mentioned it to our server who changed her attitude from there on. I would suggest, not to ask me how the steak was if one cannot take the truth. Dessert was also excellent. To sum it; a rollercoaster ride of an experience. It's not just dinner, it's an experience. One of the best overall experiences my wife and I have had. We're originally from NY but have lived over 15 years in NJ. The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the patio as you enter. Arrive early so that you can start your experience by enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine outside. From the second you enter to the time you leave, you will already be planning for your return. The service is incredible (thank you Tammy). The food and presentation was art. Their steaks are delicious but do seem to be a slight bit overcooked, so if you like your steak medium I'd suggest ordering medium rare. But still delicious anyways. "No red, no pink, I want it brown, and warm all the way through..." I was ready to throw a bread roll at him, bless the waitresses heart for keeping a smile on her face and letting him cut into it before walking away to make sure his burnt/dry steak was to his liking. Food -Steak: If you don't order your steak well done like a heathen, it will probably be one of the best steaks you've ever head. My suggestions is go with medium rare, though I tried some of my dad's medium steak and that was still extremely juicy. They marinates they offer along with it is also very good. -Sides: we ordered a bunch of sides to go with the steaks. They were all very good but the creamed spinach stuck out to me the most. 1North is a quality steakhouse. I was able to make a reservation for my group of 9 by calling the restaurant in advance and we were seated promptly on arrival. There was live music the night we went (a single guy singing and playing a guitar) and it wasn't too loud, just some nice background noise. We started off with two appetizers (wanted to save room for the main course!) of oysters in the half shell and bacon wrapped scallops. The presentation of both was very nice and I really enjoyed the scallops. For entrees majority of the table got steaks (filet, ribeye, hanger, and strip) pictured below is the ribeye. I ordered the pork chop (pictured) on the bone and it was so super juicy, I loved it. Also pictured is the burger which was massive. Our other meals consisted of the Tuscan chicken, and the lamb entree which also looked delicious. A couple of my girls that ordered steaks said they were a little over cooked for how they ordered (ordered medium rare and was more close to medium/medium-well) but the meat was still very tasty. Our waitress Christine was also very nice and helpful, she even gave us recommendations on places to get drinks after dinner. Overall, I really enjoyed this place.
