Old school style with lots of wood, quiet ambiance & very attentive service. The "Eggplant Tower" was ok. The Porterhouse Steak was very large, however the seasoning felt bland as did the grilled onions on top. The baked potato was comically small and way out of proportion to the large steak. First let me start by saying I am a local resident of the area. I'm not sure why I never tried this restaurant. The ambience was lovely and cozy and very welcoming. I ordered one of their special cocktails that was delicious. I chose escargot which was very good. I ordered veal piccata for my main course. Our waitress told me that if I wanted capers on my veal piccata it was $4 EXTRA !!!!!! Now I am a home cook and have always used capers for this recipe. I came home and went on line and EVERY RECIPE HAD CAPERS. I HAVE NEVER EVER GOTTEN AND UP CHARGE FOR CAPERS!!!! Both in upscale restaurants and more moderate priced restaurants!!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS. We were a party of 4. We received bread that was enough for 2. Upon asking for some more bread we were told there was an up charge of $3. Our waitress told us " the restaurant pays a fortune for bread and had to pass this onto us". Again, never ever had we been charged for some additional bread!!! Not "good" as the stars above recommend using, doesn't begin to express how not good it really was. The whole experience e was miserable. The four of us walked in the door and as the waitress approached, she asked if we had a reservation, we said yes, she walked right past us to talk on the phone. This was at 530 pm. As we were left standing there, I was looking around when the waitress reappears and begins to reprimand me for looking at the other tables. She said in a loud voice, what are you doing?? You can't just sit where you want. I have another table coming in. She seats us next to the only table that has customers at it. She had the foulest attitude of any service personnel I have ever seen. I have been there before, and I was reminded by one of my guests that we had the misfortune of having this sourpuss as our server on a previous occasion. In addition to having to contend with this women's surly attitude, the food was horrible. The duck that was ordered was luke warm at best, rendering it inedible. Another guest had chicken salad and said it looked and tasted like water had been sprayed on it. Was that some sort of resuscitative attempt? If it was, it was, it failed. Also, inedible. Another guests' meal was also unsatisfactory and cold. It was supposed to be my 91st birthday celebration and was looking forward to a pleasant evening. The only pleasantness coming from the server was when she was bringing over the check. She can only muster a smile when it comes time to tipping. Needless to say, it was very unpleasant. We will never be going back there again. My advice to you is to not eat there, unless you like to be abused by the server and pay premium prices for low-quality food. read more

Came here for an early Mother's Day celebration on Saturday night and was able to get a table for two by calling ahead. We were warmly greeted at the front, and despite being 15 or so minutes early we were able to be promptly seated. The interior of Villa Paul is absolutely beautiful. It's charming and feels kind of "Old Hollywood" to me. There are two separate dining rooms with a bar in between that was incredibly busy. Every seat was taken! We sat at our table and started the night out with dirty martinis, which were impeccably made. The entire menu looked delicious to us, but I was really sold on the specials of the day (a fried swordfish tidbit appetizer and a prime rib). It must have been a busy night at Villa Paul, because our waiter Perry informed us they were out of several things including the swordfish appetizer and Prime Rib. She must have saw my face fall when she told be about the Prime Rib, because a few minutes later as I was forming a new plan of action for a main course she came back to say that they did in fact have one left, which she reserved for me while we ate our appetizers. We kicked things off with clams casino and escargot. I know this is such an annoying thing to say, but I recently went to Paris and have to say that the escargot here is just as good as the authentic version I had during my trip. I loved that you were able to choose what size clams you'd like for the casino. We went with cherry stones because it's go big or go home for me when it comes to seafood. It was delicious as well. The prime rib was well marinated, but less rare than what I typically like. I guess that's to be expected since it was the last one! The stuffed flounder special was excellent as well. We were stuffed at this point, but couldn't leave here without trying their homemade bread pudding, which was absolutely a stand out. All in all I really loved this place, my only regret is not being able to try more of the specials that sold out. Will come earlier next time! read more

Had the eggplant parm and friends had fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, veal Marsala and veal saltimbocca with prosciutto. The only little complaint was the bread basket. Went to Villa Paul For a New Year's Eve dinner ...prior to going when I made the reservation I asked about the menu and they said it was a regular menu ...when we arrived we got a paper with a price fixe menu for $98 a person!!! ... you got an appetizer an entrée and a small dessert. There was nothing posted on their website about this and it was literally the regular menu. We had another great dining event at V P. Last bought (2/13/21). We were greeted with a smile by the manager upon arrival and were taken to a lovely table in the corner of the dining room. The crowd was a nice side, but the tables spaced out very well. Social distancing and staff with masks and gloves were evident. Our waiter Miguel and busperson Saoulda (I hope I got the spelling correct) took extremely great care of our table. Saoulda made sure that the bread and butter stayed full and the table ckean. Miguel started us off with drinks, espresso martinis, beer all were perfect. We ordered our appetizers (fried calamari and a seafood mac n cheese with shrimp, dinner portion). The appetizers were delicious. The fried calamari were light and tender with a side of tomatoe sauce for dipping. The mac n cheese was a big hit too, nice and creamy with an aldente texture with a crispness from baking. (My mouth's watering) For dinner, we ordered chicken florentine, ravioli, and 2 roast ducks. The roast duck was a beautiful portion, the skin was a nice crispness, the meat very moist and tender, full of flavor topped with a nice cherry and wine (best guess) reduction. The duck , as always at Villa Paul, was perfect. The chicken was delicious as well as the ravioli. Dessert was also amazing, I do not remember what was ordered, I know a toasted almond joy dessert was ordered and delicious, I had a single shot espresso. All in all, dinner, nor the service has ever failed us at V.P. It is always a nice treat to go to and we should go more often. Total cost for dinner was $245 for 4. Villa Paul is the best and perhaps last of Nassau County's "Fine Dining" restaurants. It is actually NOT an Italian restaurant, in the traditional sense, which is a good thing. Rather, Villa Paul is a very fine, "Continental" restaurant. Sort of a survey course of European Culinary Traditions, mostly French and Italian, tweaked to American tastes. They've been doing it for over 50 years and Nobody, does it better. Their Roasted Long Island Duck, served stuffed, crisp and with homemade Cherry Sauce is a standout and worth a trip on its own. Their seafood, locsl Flounder etc is clearly well sourced. The service is professional "Old School" To top it all off, they bring you amazing desserts like the famous Peanut Brickle Cheese Cake and Classics like amazing tartuffo, pistachio mousse and Creme Brulee, etc. The prices are not cheap but compared to NYC, where I'm from, are an absolute bargain given the quality, and service. Bonus: the wine list offers extremely well priced bottle options and top notch reds and whites at $12/glass! Always a good experience dining in but recent large order for take out ($1000) left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Miscommunication on the restaurants part lead to the food not being prepared and packaged as expected. When I called to discuss with the manager, he lied and indicated he overheard the order being placed and implied the miscommunication was on our part. When I pointed out, the woman taking the order was at our table and he was no where in site, nothing was said. I got the feeling he didn't really care about my dissatisfaction with the service provided. Won't be going back as a result. He offerred nothing but attitude. I recently hosted a celebration of life luncheon at Villa Paul. They were super accommodating and understanding. I wasn't sure what time the funeral services would be completed and so we arrived very early en mass at the restaurant. We were greeted graciously and welcomed to come in as they set up. The food at Villa Paul never disappoints and was plentiful and delicious. The service was professional, polite and very helpful. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Villa Paul! I'm a Southampton local and I'll admit that I haven't been to VP in a very long time, but when a friend wanted to go to dinner "someplace we haven't been", this gem came to mind. The service was friendly and attentive even though they were understaffed. The calamari and clams casino hit the spot. And we all shared the fabulous ravioli, the linguini with white clam sauce which was a straight on, no frills classic; and oooooh, that duck with the black cherry sauce. Oh, boy the stuffing... This reastuarant is the worst. I got yelled at for not wearing a mask for one second as I was leaving the restaurant to get into my car. There was 1 customer. The waitress was not wearing the mask the whole time while talking to customer. This is ridiculous. Also the food is trash. They say filet mignon but the piece of meat that I received I wouldn't even give it to my dogs. Trash place. So rude, called my wife a bitch. Only reason why I cannot give 4 stars (almost NEVER give 5), is that my lobster stuffed flounder was like warm (temperature wise). Being a special, is of thought it would've been better prepared. As usual however, all was just fine. Service was good, the venue is always comfortable, and as we've been patronizing Villa Paul's since 1976, it is a nice, steady establishment. We always go back. Fast forward to this past weekend (2/1/19). My wife & I took her aunt out for an early dinner by the fireplace. We had the liver special, veal stroganoff, and the penne pasta carbonara. EVERY dish was fantastic. We had a very nice dining experience, albeit the place started to rapidly fill up & get busy and the service dropped off a bit. This establishment has been around for a few generations- which we all know is not the norm for any restaurant. There is a good reason why. It is consistently very, very good. read more

This place was good, the porterhouse was cooked rare to perfection, the shrimp scampi and clams with white sauce were also super yummy, their red sauce and their chicken parm was a miss - sauce was too sweet and the chicken wasn't crispy.
