I was shocked at how good the food is here, and how approachable our bartender was despite the extremely swanky atmosphere. I came in for happy hour during the week and ordered a bunch of the appetizers that were on special. The focaccia bread with whipped ricotta and honey was outstanding. The bread tastes freshly made and was so fluffy. The baked clams were hearty and delicious, served on a bed of Himalayan sea salt which made the dish feel elevated. The pizza we ordered had an extremely thin crust that was perfectly crunchy and had just the right amount of sauce and cheese on it. Trivia was about to start after happy hour which I wish I had time to stick around for -- it looked like the teams that were forming were some stiff competition. We were at the Canoe Place Inn for a comedy show and decided to dine here just before the show. Wow what an amazing meal and experience we had here. Our server brought out this delicious focaccia bread with a side of whipped ricotta and honey. The bread was seasoned with herbs and super soft and pillowy. If you do want extra serving of bread you do get charged for it. For drinks they have cocktails, beer and spritzes. We were there just after St. Patrick's Day so they had some drinks and food off the special holiday menu. I got the Captain's punch which was very balanced and fruity. Everything on the menu sounded great it was hard to decide what to get. The host and server both recommended their stone baked pizzas since they said the restaurant was known for it. We decided to grab it as an appetizer. We ordered the basic Neapolitano pizza since my husband isn't super adventurous in taste. It was light, very flavorful and just enough crispness. We ended up saving a couple of slices to take home. For entrees I got the olive oil poached halibut and my husband got the short rib special. We both loved our dishes. It was just the right amount for entrees. The halibut was super flakey, light and flavorful. I liked the earthiness the veggies brought to the dish paired with the delicate halibut. The short ribs were also very good according to my husband. He said that it was super tender and was really good with his mashed potatoes. We also got dessert of their doughnuts that came paired with a sweet caramel sauce and fresh raspberry sauce. The doughnuts were nice and warm, light and airy. It paired well with the sauces. We were so stuffed that we took the rest home as well. I would definitely recommend booking a reservation with them since the restaurant can get packed pretty quickly especially if there are special events going on in the facility. We were lucky that we went when they opened so we got a table right away without reservation. Maybe an hour later there were definitely patrons waiting. GGT is an outdoors restaurant located On the grounds of Canoe Place in Hampton Bays. We had dinner there this week and I was blown away by the fabulous service and care afforded to me. I ordered a rare burger and when it came out well done I pointed it out to Josh Strom the assistant general manager. With out blinking he took it back and brought me a totally new plate with all the fixing's This burger was also too well done.. They say the third times a charm and it was. The Terrace has such a vibe. Loved the DJ on Saturday evening. Shocked that it wasn't more packed but I'm thinking that will start to change. We had the soppressata pizza, flounder, sea bass, and the most amazing ricotta. The flounder does not look very appealing but the flavor was there. The artichokes (amazing) and kale along side the sea bass made the dish delightful. The pizza was good but I prefer a thinner crust. Go for the ricotta and stay for the cocktails! This is the restaurant inside the inn and it is very nice! The ambience created trumps the food taste! Food: we ordered the Mediterranean plate to start and the falafel were actually so delicious! I should have ordered the falafel as my main dish just given how delicious and soft these were! The dips that it came with were also so good. For my main I ordered the chicken sandwich and was not blown away, but overall satisfied ! I am happy the chicken was not overtly fried! But it generally lacked some flavor. Ambience: beautiful spot! Pretty, but I'm not sure it knows what it wants to be yet. It's confusing in there as to where you can eat food ur just order drinks. Service is really spotty. The prices are high, but not crazy high for the Hamptons. The Study is a beautiful room with a gorgeous fireplace, perfect for drinks and apps. We had such wonderful dinner here. Everything was perfect from the food on down. And wow what a beautiful setting with top notch design. The ribeye was generous and perfectly cooked. So I went and met up with friends who had plans to be there for dinner. We ordered a pizza and a salad. The food was good, but we couldn't order any other than one of the two pizzas on the menu. We asked for mushrooms to be added to one, and they said they couldn't do it because they didn't have mushrooms for pizza. They only had them for the dinners. Jake our waiter was polite, efficient, and not overbearing. The staff seems to be getting better, but how could you not be able to add a topping to a pizza ? Very disappointing. Ambiance is so nice with trendy decor and a great outdoor patio, however that is the only good thing about this place. Service is incredibly slow with a long wait for bread, drinks, appetizers, entrees, and we couldn't stand to wait any long for dessert too. Menu is very small and not a lot of options. The table next to us never got 2/4 of their entrees because the waiter forgot to put it in...we felt so bad for them. Meanwhile at our table one of us got food poisoning from the undercooked meat and our weekend was ruined. No thanks. I've eaten here several times since it opened, and while the venue is gorgeous, the operation sucks. We were seated on the terrace on a chilly evening, and the heaters were barely noticeable. It was Sunday evening at 6:30 on Father's Day, and not busy at all, but still we sat for 10 minutes before we had a man in a suit, presumably a manager, try to upsell us by offering us sparkling water-we then requested tap water. It was another 10 minutes before a server appeared from the kitchen to take our order. I'm assuming she'd been on a break because in the 20 minutes we'd been sitting at that point, I hadn't seen her on the restaurant floor before that moment, although there were plenty of other waitstaff scurrying around. My spouse and I were hungry walking into the restaurant, and starving by this point. The drinks arrived in a reasonable timeframe but we were really hungry. A pizza stand arrived on our table next, which puzzled me because we hadn't ordered pizza...I wondered if the crudo we'd ordered to share was going to be on a large plate. Soon, one of the several dazed and confused bus staff realized the error, and moved the stand from our table to an adjacent table. I would have been livid if I watched a service item move from someone else's table to mine without first being cleaned. Soon after, two pieces of the smallest focaccia arrived with a delicious olive oil/honey spread...they were two 4" x 1" slices. We ate them in one bite and I asked the server if we could have more, to which she happily replied "yes". Soon after, a minuscule crudo that we had planned to share arrived....four slices of 1.5" x 1.5" tuna that were again, delicious, and again, gone in one bite. Then two more slices of 4" x 1" biscotti-sized slices of focaccia arrived. I was annoyed because one way a restaurant can easily and cheaply attenuate for slow service and/or small portions is with bread. The burger my spouse ordered was pretty bland which left me puzzled, because a burger is usually one of the safe bets on a menu. It was ordered medium, but came out rare and room temperature. They were so hungry at that point they didn't send it back, but asked for pepper instead. They've been feeling nauseous ever since eating it. My sea bass was delicious, but again, small portioned. When the check came the insult to injury was that not only had we been charged for that minuscule extra serving of focaccia, but the burger that was listed on the menu at $32 appeared as $34 on the check. I live year-round in the Hamptons and eat at all the restaurants, and am no stranger to having pricey dinners. But nothing annoys me more than being nickel-and-dimed on a check. This restaurant clearly needs a management change, because by being chintzy on the heat and the portions this restaurant is actually engaged in a false economy....had they made this place more comfortable and enjoyable, we would have easily sat for another hour and consumed dessert and another $100 in alcohol. Instead, I couldn't wait to get out of this place, and was so frustrated that I didn't even want to waste the breath to complain. I drove through McDonald's on the way home and had Big Mac, which tells you everything you need to know about this restaurant's inability to serve up Sunday dinner. read more

The restaurant is located in the newly renovated space, Canoe Place Inn and Cottage. First, the Setting. The Canoe Place is a very nice renovated space. We really liked the outdoor space, walking in from the back parking lot. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. The dining area is broken up into two sections (three if you want to count the two tables in the main walkway on the same level as the hostess area). The bar area is very inviting, giving a nice mix of modern and old-timey vibe (of course the restaurant setting could have added to it). There are two thing about the decore I didn't like was the round bistro tables for two placed in the corners. It would have been just as easy to fit a rectangular table, giving the diners more space. But, i understand it was a design couse. The second waa the banquet seats the line the walls of the most of the tables. Its not so much the banquets that make the seats uncomfortable but the cushion choice, i would have preffered no cushion at all. Second. the Food. It's the Hamptoms, where I find the prices to be worse the NYC. Beware, the portions are small. If ur looking for a big meal, this isn't the place. The meal was started with a drink order. The wines are over priced. The mixed coctails are more reasonable, and pretty good. Next, the table is treated with fresh made focaccia...so good!! As well as, a dramatic show of bread sticks, which weren't as good. For the meal, the crab dip (sorry no pic), delicuous! Large chunks of crab cooked and served in a cast iron skillet with bread. The black bass (skip). I'm in the camp of when the fish skin is left on it should be crispy. The olive oil pouched bass skin was wet and soggy and very unappetizing. The fish was slightly over cooked, not terrible but verging on dry. The flank steak, which i ordered medium rare, was closer to a medium. It was a good steak, again small portion. The fries were really good. Last, the Service. Top notch! Mayb it's because it's the slow season, but the servers were super attentive. They were prompt in filling your water glass even though they left a bottle on your table. Good experience. Welcoming, great service and nice vibes. The food portion was small, which i didn't mind. The caviar martini was pretty good but the two other cocktails once with mezcal and the other with gin/lemon/honey were not very good. My wife and I went to Good Ground Tavern at Canoe Place Place Inn for dinner last night. The service, ambience, food and experience was outstanding! Our waiter Danielle, was polite, attentive and knowledgeable. We started with some cocktails and the guac and chips which was a great appetizer! We then ordered the Montauk Red Shrimp Cocktail which was unbelievable fresh! We had delicious burgers for our entree! The highlight of our experience was getting to meet and interact with the General Manger Josh. He was extremely warm, charming, professional and made us laugh. Josh recommended some must try menu items and spent some time to get to know my wife and I. He is a true example and the epitome of high-class hospitality. The entire staff is great! The price point for the food and drinks represent a good value especially considering the quality of how great everything is. I would highly recommend you to try this restaurant! Go there, have some apps, drinks, entrees, ask for Josh! Have a blast! We can't wait to go back there soon! Just go here for drinks. I have tried this restaurant twice. The building and decor are incredible. The bar service, wine menu and drinks are awesome, but the "food" is inedible and overpriced and the menu is extremely limited. Everything they serve is way too much...too much seasoning, too much cheese, too much gravy, too much vinegar, too many spices that should not be served together. I have been many times but for the first time we ordered the seafood tower the other night to start. At $90. it was very underwhelming. The oysters were sadly in pieces and quite small, the chef or sous chef should never have allowed them to go out of the kitchen. Presentation bad. The shrimp very dense, over cooked. I think this will be a place that most locals will only try once. The renovation of this historic building is well done, and overall service was good. It is just way too expensive for Hampton Bays. The restaurant had run out of the salmon bento box, so my friend and I asked the server to put salmon over a kale salad. They charged us $40 for each salad which I thought was exorbitant. For a lunch of just two salads and two drinks each, our bill came to $173, before tip. I don't think we will return unless there are deeply discounted menu options offered during the off-seson. read more

Had dinner on Friday and was not impressed. While the dining room is gorgeous, All the seats are banquets, not comfortable. The crab cakes were delicious, but my chicken was dry. After ordering an expensive bottle of wine, the waitress presented the bottle to us, left with it and brought it back opened and handed us the cork. When we finally got our meal, our waitress was scarce. We had to ask a manager to pour our wine and then again to take away our dirty dishes after a considerable amount of time. As locals we watched the reconstruction of this beautiful building, and was excited to have a special meeting place, i doubt we'll return to dine. The CPI doesn't seem to cater at all to locals, the menu is expensive and the staff definitely needs more training. read more

Very nice restaurant. Food was good, the service was very good and the ambiance was lovely. The menu was a little uninspiring and very basic for the prices charged. I'll probably go back and eat in the outside restaurant in the summer. The interior dining room is small and cozy - the outside is a lot larger and probably a lot fun in the summer. I have been to this restaurant several times but last night was the last. We ordered a bib lettuce salad with dressing on the side. The dressing was extremely salty and uneatable. My wife ordered the pasta with vongole and it was something that we have never seen before. It looked like a child made it. The pasta was stuck together and there were no clams but some burnt bread crumbs thrown on top. I asked our waiter if the chef could come out and speak with us as there was no one else in the restaurant. He informed me that the chef was not there and doing inventory. Such a beautiful space with awful food. Fire the chef and whoever made this meal last night. Now I understand why no one goes there. read more
