Happy Hour

I wouldn't recommend eating anywhere on Dune Road because these spots are all mediocre at best, people just come here for the view. But out of all three options, I do think that Oakland's is a cut above the rest. I think that this is also common knowledge, because trying to get a table here during summer is challenging, especially on weekends. The last time my mom and I came here we were able to be seated relatively quickly since we were willing to sit at one of their counter spots overlooking the water. The margaritas here are nice and strong (which makes the price tag hurt less) and their seafood pasta is an absolute must if you decide to come here. Mussels are also nice and fresh. Not to mention, the sunsets here are epic.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 8 Value: 5 Overall: 6 Like many places with a great view, the food is honestly san afterthought at Oakland's. I had a great time chatting with my friends this past weekend inside their beautiful dining room before they shutdown for the season, but the food was not impressive. Everyone talks about their amazing Crab Cake, really? Maybe mine was an anomaly, but it was not filled with lump crab and lacked flavor. I love crab and eat crab cake everywhere. This ranks on the lower half for sure. As for my Halibut Sandwich, the fish was fried reasonably well, though I wish the batter was crispier. What bothered me more was all the pickled vegetables on top that takes away from the delicate flavors of the fish. Had a bite of my friend's Flounder Sandwich. The panko crusted fish was crispy enough, but flesh was dry. Burrata Salad was just okay since it didn't have that creaminess you want, the salad needed a drizzle more of balsamic vinegar, and quality of prosciutto could be better. Lastly, don't bother ordering the Clam Chowder because there is almost no clam flavor at all. Too heavy on the cream and all I got was potatoes. Clearly the cuisine will not be bringing me back, especially when there is often a wait for seats at this popular restaurant with a view, but maybe I will for the sunset.

Much better restaurant next door

The reservation arrangements were not clear via Oaklands website and social media page. They claim to not take reservations and walk-ins only but was not accommodating to seat my mother and myself for Mother's Day. We arrived at a decent time around 4:30pm just to be told by a rude senior woman at the front saying, "you should've called first", as if she knew for certain I didn't in the past to check if they take reservations. Imagine driving one hour to Hampton bays from central Long Island to this place to be told nonsense. On top of that they had the nerve to tell us to wait 45 min. I think not! Save yourself time and go next door to Sundays on the Bay where they welcome you in even without reservations and are professional about it. My mother had a great time elsewhere!

They did not take to-go orders apparently on friday when I went so I had to dine on. Furthermore the people upfront dont take orders they pointed me to the bar in which the bartender took forever to get to me to tell me that there's no to go orders. I ended up just eating in. -the clam chowder literally the worse ive had. It taste like water -shrimp quesadilla was mid at best -the calamari was definitely the only highly Good views outside and that's about it. Wont recommend and won't be back. Prices are out the door ridiculous too

The food was amazing. Didn't get much pics cause wa too busy eating. Our server was attentive and ambiance wonderful but as I've said before anything by the water in the summertime and I'm biased.

We received a gift certificate here and we're excited to use it. We came on a Saturday for lunch, around 1 pm. They have a huge beautiful deck which swerves around with plenty of seating. It fills up quickly. We opted to eat inside by a window. My husband ordered a special, the soft shell crab. It was huge! It was so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was perfectly seasoned and he loved it. I enjoyed the chef's tacos which consisted of shrimp, salmon and swordfish, peppers and corn. It was so very good. They serve it with warm corn tortillas, which I think are homemade. You put it all together yourself. There was guacamole, sour cream and rice with beans on the side. The seafood in both dishes were absolutely fresh. Delicious. I wish we lived closer to this place; it took us about 2 hrs to get there, and it was worth it. I also want to mention our waiter, Saige. I'm not sure of the spelling but he was terrific. He explained all of the specials and everything in them and served with them. There were plenty of them. He was also very attentive, coming over many times to ask how things were and did we need anything. The place itself is decorated nicely, and the decks are great! I would recommend.

Not sure why this place has 3 stars at the moment but it's fantastic! The smell of fresh sea breeze and the sunset views cannot be beat. Service was very good and the food delicious to match. I would definitely recommend checking it out for ambiance and bar alone. We came for the lobster bake which happens every Monday and Tuesday in the summer. It came with a steamed lobster, soup or salad, and shrimp/mussels as well as corn on the cob. It was quite good! We also had a couple of drinks that complimented the food nicely. See for yourself!

It has a nice vibe and is not too crowded if you sit at a table. The night we went, the bar was packed so I am glad we were given the option of a table or booth. Once we were settled in the booth, water arrived at the table and our drink orders were taken by our waitress who was very nice and personable. My brother got a beer and I decided on the Edgewater espresso martini, which was really good. We placed our happy hour food choices when she returned-my brother opted for the wings and I got the shrimp and ,mushroom risotto. The food arrived quickly and was hot. Both our meals were delicious. The risotto was covered with shaved parmesan cheese and was very tasty. I would recommend and will be returning.

Came here on a Thursday night and was able to grab two seats at the bar. I started off with a cosmo which was made perfectly, served in an insulated martini glass to keep it nice and cold. For starters we had the charbroiled oysters which were unlike any oyster dish I've ever had. Topped with garlic, parmesan and sriracha, the sauce that comes off of these bad boys gets soaked up with the focaccia its served with. Honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. We also had fried calamari which was solid. For mains, I had the veal Milanese which was perfectly cooked. Crispy, topped with fresh tomatoes and arugula plus shaved parmesan. My brother had the lobster pasta which I tried and was out of this world. The shitake mushrooms in this dish really add a depth of flavor you don't normally find in a lobster pasta. I haven't stopped thinking about those oysters and will absolutely be back. Everything in the Hamptons is expensive, but this place is where you want to spend your money.

Oops lol It was a quiet Friday evening and Plaza Café is conveniently located near my friend's house there in South Hampton. Being off season, there has been very little traffic and people on the streets. There were only 3 other parties in the restaurant when we walked in. This place is cute, private, has great good food, and service. Their menu is very small, but I was still having trouble deciding what I wanted to eat for dinner. Finally decided on the Tile fish....Yeah I know, I was like. Was told that they're like human beings because they eat just about anything in the sea. No idea if that's true or not, but I'll take it. The dish was light and full of flavor. Tried some of my friend's Salmon/Udon dish and I actually think his was the better choice. The salmon went very well with the udon. Noodles were kind of firm and juices full of flavor. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Looks like they may share it with businesses/hotel in the area. I'd eat here again. Cool spot with a Manhattan vibe "behind" Main Street in Patchogue…read more The reason this is key is because, since they face out to the firehouse and residential areas, parking USUALLY isn't a problem. There's a small lot that's free and you can park on Jennings. (sorry residents). We went on NYE so had to park several blocks away. No biggie. The inside is dark and cool with a city-vibe. Ample bar space and 1-4 tops an some banquet seating that lets you look out over the street. We were greeted right away by what turned out to be our server and seated promptly by the windows (we had a reservation). Also greeted by a gentleman that we think might have been her dad. The young lady hustled all night and managed the crowd well. We never waited too long for her to check in on us and she was very helpful with selecting wine and clarifying menu items. That being said, THIS IS A SMALL PLATES JOINT. People expecting full-sized portions should adjust their expectations accordingly. We did, however, order the Trastavere seafood platter (medium) which came as a tower and seemed impressive. Two types of oysters (large and medium) were presented; briny and fresh and pretty damned tasty. There was also a ceviche and tuna tartare that was, unfortunately, a bit unremarkable, as was the shrimp cocktail (though the shrimps were pretty hefty). The American "black caviar" was a nice way to commemorate the meal. Nutty with a pop of salinity but maybe something you can skip. We meant to order the Carne e Formaggi but got the Gamberetto instead which was fine as it was pretty tasty nonetheless (made with shrimp but it almost tasted like smoked salmon). Virgola Manhattan was good but pretty standard. Follow-up drink of dirty Manhattan was blissfully salty and cold. But back to the menu: we are unsure if they have an actual kitchen back there which would also explain the small plates concept and oyster and chilled fish options. The bruschetta was tasty, as mentioned, but it seems like they cut and toasted the bread and topped it with the crudo. The other bruschetta options featured ingredients from other menu items that could be re-purposed for multiple dishes. Smart but expect this. We plan on returning and trying the charcuterie board (mix and match cheeses and meats) and some cocktails. Overall, a nice night out and a nice option for dining and drinking around Patchogue. Cheers!

I came in for happy hour during the week and ordered a bunch of the appetizers that were on special. The focaccia bread with whipped ricotta and honey was outstanding. The pizza we ordered had an extremely thin crust that was perfectly crunchy and had just the right amount of sauce and cheese on it. We were there just after St. Patrick's Day so they had some drinks and food off the special holiday menu. I got the Captain's punch which was very balanced and fruity. Everything on the menu sounded great it was hard to decide what to get. The host and server both recommended their stone baked pizzas since they said the restaurant was known for it. We decided to grab it as an appetizer. We ordered the basic Neapolitano pizza since my husband isn't super adventurous in taste. It was light, very flavorful and just enough crispness. We ended up saving a couple of slices to take home. For entrees I got the olive oil poached halibut and my husband got the short rib special. We both loved our dishes. It was just the right amount for entrees. The halibut was super flakey, light and flavorful. I liked the earthiness the veggies brought to the dish paired with the delicate halibut. The short ribs were also very good according to my husband. He said that it was super tender and was really good with his mashed potatoes. We also got dessert of their doughnuts that came paired with a sweet caramel sauce and fresh raspberry sauce. The doughnuts were nice and warm, light and airy. It paired well with the sauces. We were so stuffed that we took the rest home as well. I would definitely recommend booking a reservation with them since the restaurant can get packed pretty quickly especially if there are special events going on in the facility. We were lucky that we went when they opened so we got a table right away without reservation. Maybe an hour later there were definitely patrons waiting. Everyone was great from the host to our server. The bathrooms in the inn was also very clean. Thanks for the great meal and hospitality. We would be returning again in the future.
