Fresh dozen oysters to start
joeysal77

An amazing date night in downtown Westhampton Beach. The Patio has been on our "bucket list" for quite some time...and shame on us for not getting there sooner. We were seated in the back, very cozy and chill, along the windows with some white birch. Our cocktails started us off just right, before we delved into a dozen oysters and some Caesar salads. Both were delicious. For our main course, we had the cod over a clam chowder-type sauce that was to die for. And when we ate the fresh cod done to perfection, we dipped some of our fresh Italian bread in the juice. Amazing! We shared our raviolis, and as Italians who adore great homemade Rav's, these too hit the spot. So so happy with our meal, service and even the Santagata evoo bottle we purchased to go. Already used it multiple times in our own kitchen. It was the perfect night and undoubtedly, we will visit again real soon. Thanks Patio!!!

Calamari

We came here for dinner on a Tuesday night while Long Island was about to go into phase three of reopening. They had a couple of tables available for outdoor dining. Our waitress was lovely, and the service was great. They had an appropriate amount of space in between the tables. Masks are required to go inside the restaurant. Staff are also wearing masks. My husband had the corn ravioli, while I had the tuna tartare. We shared the calamari for an appetizer. The corn ravioli was the best dish. The sauce had a clear corn flavour, and the pasta was also filled with a corn sauce. The tuna tartare and the calamari were both average in comparison, and the tuna didn't taste as fresh as other places I've been to. Would stick with pasta if you are coming here. Overall, not a bad place to eat, but I didn't think it was amazing based on what I ate this time.

Clam chowder and Jumbo Lump Crab Meat Cocktail

One of our favorite restaurants in Westhampton. Large restaurant open year round with a huge lively bar. Usually we sit at bar but tonite we sat at a table. Our 3 martinis came out right away filled to the rim. A great way to start a fabulous meal. We started with lumb crab cocktail and the clam chowder. Both were very good. We then had the branzino and pasta bolognese. Both were great choices. The pasta was so fresh and made with a delicious sauce that we couldn't get enough of.

Fried Zucchini & Lemon Chips

Came here for a romantic dinner! We sat outside in their nice outdoor dining area. We ordered an espresso martini that has a twist of lemon. We ordered zucchini chips to start. We shared the special of the day, puréed sweet corn ravioli and grilled salmon. The food was delicious. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive. Will absolutely return!

Nice place and the staff are very friendly. They have outside seating which is good. I sat outside but went in because I got chilly with the wind. They were very accommodating. The food was good. And my first drink of patron margarita was made perfectly.

An old-school Westhampton classic. I've been enjoying their duck for 50 years. You will, too.

It is also a perfect winery for larger groups as they have an indoor and outdoor tasting area. This place is just beautiful. We sat on the porch looking out over the vineyard like we were in the Alexander Valley. Honestly, we have done the North Fork trail more but will now be a SOFO family as well. Helene and I both enjoy a good Chardonnay and "Wolffer's Pearl" is great, A chard with tremendous body and depth. We had the honor of being on a European Wine Cruise with the wine maker. Roman Roth [and his wife]. He had multiple wine dinners where we had an opportunity to try some of these new red and white wines and really took a liking to them. We joined their wine club as soon as we returned home so we'll have more to enjoy during the year. Let me be honest... I have been drinking and collecting Roman Roth wines for years now and have always enjoyed them. The team that took care of us was amazing. Nothing but smiles and service. We were very lucky to have the opportunity to experience this wonderful visit. The only downside is that the drive from mid-island to the Hamptons can get a little long. This was a small price to pay for the wonderful experience we had. KUDOs to the team at Wolffer Estate Vineyard

Why have I been walking past Alpina everytime I'm in Greenport?…read more Was it the dark atmosphere? Did I think I was getting just another American-German influenced restaurant with only brats and potato pancakes? Did I expect polka? The experience was actually slow and refined, without the white tablecloths. Alpina has German, Swiss, and slightly Northern Italian influenced cuisine, along with a selection of alcohols I was completely unfamiliar with... which made the experience feel full of new things. The most memorable food was actually one of the simplest. The chef prepared incredibly creamy, caramelized onions with a slight sauerkraut tang that was amazeballs. I told our waiter that I'd write him a love letter over it, and here I am! The pappardelle had shredded duck, cheese, and big, fun, chewy noodles that were satisfying to slurp. It just needed a dash of pepper to elevate it. The meat and cheese board included a few things I'd never tried before, and it was so good I was searching for a meat shop in Manhattan so we could buy them again. Portion sizes aren't huge for the price, but it was worth it to us. Don't be afraid of the dark entrance, the ligonberry on the menu, and ask the bartender about the connection between the giant copper gnome and penguin shaker gone rouge.

Upon arriving back in NY yesterday, we were vexed with the options for dinner; wanting a wine bar…read morewith Old World characteristics, food being of relative importance. We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not.
