Went twice with my boyfriend each time my stomach hurt really bad afterwards and feel like they were judging us for being white. Bartender said maybe 3 words to us and rushed us the whole time. Tip whatever you want because there is never a thank you or even a goodbye. As people who work in the service industry this was a really strange experience. read more

Upon entering, we encountered a vibrant Bar scene with lotsa exhuberent partiers revelling at the great drinks being offered. We were seated by our server, a wonderful gal named Villy..so charming and helpful with all of our questions. They have a wonderful selection of cocktails on the menu... Bon had the Tainos Henny Margarita...looked good and tasted great! I had a Grey Goose shaken up with Lime peel..also perfecto! The offerings on the menu were also great...for appys we had the Chicharron de cerdo con yuca..Perfect chunks of porky delite..Mmmm! also had the Coconut fried Shrimp with a wonderful dipping sauce...outstanding choices! For mains Bon had the Steak Fajita..never saw such a beautiful dish as they presented...the whole Skirt steak was cut up on top of the sauteed veggies beneath...what a treat! My fried whole Pargo was made perfectly...steamy delish fish came right off the bone. With very little room left, we tried the Home Made Flan dessert..also perfecto and a great finish to a wonderful meal...And, the price was right..for all the food we had cant ask for more or better!!! I used to love this place & would order takeout often. Well that stops now. The steak my husband ordered was so small not like it normally is. The tostones portion was cut in half. The bean sauce lacked flavor & again a small portion barely enough to mix with the rice. I understand times are hard but don't rip off loyal customers. I can make this same food but it's nice on a busy night not to have to. I won't be ordering again as the price does not justify the portion sizes. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. The menu wasn't even a year old when I saw it and according to the menu we were overcharged. As two natural white gingers walking into this place. No one acknowledged us. We sat ourselves at the bar. The bartender did NOT speak English at all, very very poor communication skills at best. We waited 20 minutes for chips and salsa. Meanwhile the couple who came I know behind us (who were African American) were seated and served before us. Terrible service. We were made to feel like outcasts. We will never be back. read more

I pass Taino's and I admit I judged a book by its cover. That was until recently when it was about 10pm, we were starving and not much else was open for Uber Eats delivery. Enter: Taino's. They were open so I decided to try them out. My order was the Taino's skirt steak (with 4 grilled shrimp!!), the garlic chicken (yum), sweet plantains (satisfactory) and some empanadas (2 beef, 1 chicken) [eh]. I can't tell you how long it's been since I've had a meal from a restaurant or take-out that's been phenomenal but this meal totally changed the game Let's get to the ok before we get to saliva-enduring. The chicken empanadas I wouldn't get again. The beef empanadas were tasty but I think I've been spoiled by homemade Chilean empanadas. The sweet plantains were ok. Again, I'm spoiled with awesome homemade plantains. Now to the main event. The garlic chicken was very good. But the Taino's skirt steak was a death row meal. Both entrees came with white rice and beans and let me just tell you that even the white rice by itself was cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of salt that you could make a meal of that itself. The steak I could eat every day of the week. Skirt steak is one of my favorite cuts of meat, but aside from that it was cooked to perfection and the (?) chimichurri sauce just made it that much more perfect. I should say I'm a steak purist and like my steak medium-rare without any adornments, but this was an exception to the rule I should mention that I ordered the same exact thing 2x this past week. Hidden Latin American Gem in the heart of Coram that opened 3 weeks ago. Hubby and I went on a Saturday night to meet up with owners girlfriend Manyerly. We were warmly greeted at 8pm to enjoy dinner and a few drinks. We missed their happy hour that takes place Monday through Friday till 7pm (if this is incorrect i will revise) . They offer half priced drinks and food. Exceptional offer. Staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, professional and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious and generous. The bar is spacious and the Margaritas are perfect. Bartender Rosa is not only adorable but attentive and personable. An asset to this establishment! What a doll! Advised they offer brunch specials on Sunday 1pm - 4pm. Restaurant/ Lounge is elegantly decorated , spacious and clean. What we experienced was after 10pm this restaurant lounge becomes a bustling dance crowd dancing to latin music. Patrons were mostly young but there was a few older folks like us so i felt completely accepted and comfortable. I enjoyed dancing with some friends that were present. Even though our son is a professional chef and we think of ourselves as "foodies," we have only limited experience with Caribbean cuisine. That's going to change, because we will absolutely go back to Taino's to explore more of the menu. We went on a Monday night, and the only other patrons were at the bar. They appeared to be regulars, and the vibe was warm and casual. Coconut shrimp is one of my guilty pleasures and I order it every time I see it on a menu. Tainos' was quite possibly the best I've ever had: enormous shrimp coated in batter and flaked coconut, fried to crispy perfection and served with a to-die-for coconut dipping sauce. I'm also a skirt steak junkie, so ordered the Churrasco al la Parrilla which is served with a large mound of rice, a bowl of red beans and chimichurri sauce, all presented beautifully, complete with an orchid. Our son ordered the chicken Canasta de Platano (plantain 'baskets') appetizer and grudgingly gave me only a tiny (delicious) taste. Husband ordered fried cheese, and ate a whole piece even before I could take a photo. Again, I was allowed only one bite, but know I'll order my own the next time we're there. He also ordered the skirt steak, but our son tried the Colombian platter (steak, avocado, pork cracklings, fried egg, rice and more), which he loved. He gave me the sweet corn cakes which I devoured. The Taino mofongo (seafood over mofongo) is very good. My daughter had the asopao de camarones (seafood and rice soup) which she liked and they serve it piping hot. And my wife had the churrasco ( skirt steak) mofongo. I liked the place, is clean and cozy. If you had mofongo before, this is the real thing. I saw this place on Instagram and thought I'd give it try as I do every other restaurant with decent reviews. However, this place sort of let me down, but not fully. The food was really good it was definitely the star of the show. As for the drinks... unacceptable. I feel like it's false advertising to post your drinks on Instagram looking nice and in a glass and then I get here and my drink is served in a plastic cup? I mean they were only $11 but still I would've liked to have gotten what I saw on IG. Also, beware the prices on the menu differentiate from the price on the bill. My meal on the menu was $22, but on the bill it was $26 ( not including tax)‍. Not a biggie I just think honesty is the best policy!! read more

So hear me out. It looks super sketchy outside and unsafe. There's no doubt about that but inside it's a totally different vibe. The food takes some time but it is all utterly delicious. I believe there's a section where you can dance on the weekend and what not. The star is the food. The Mofongo is pretty good and comparable to places like Casa del Campo. Worst experience. Friend passed out there after 1 drink. Security said it's happened more than once to a few females after 1 drink. Staff was horrible. Tried to tell us not to call ambulance or go outside. Music still played as my friend was passed out on the ground. Waitress was worried bout the bill. Manager handled it so poorly when I called few days later and hung up the phone. Inconsiderate and rude. Also posted a google review. The owner responded.. trying to tell me it was a different story. That I was there for 3 hours with a party of 15? It was me and 2 female friends. We were there from 9 pm - 1030 pm. Outside with the EMT and police by 11 pm !! It would've been sooner but they weren't letting my friend go outside or letting us call 911!! ONE security guard helped us and A FEMALE CUSTOMER. Dj still played music, lights still on when she passed out. the manager Louis was SO unprofessional. They want to say it's lies ? Footage doesn't lie, so they can proudly post the footage but they won't because it'll match MY story. If you read the reviews, there were many people there during day. Which I heard is actually pleasant. But night time ? On the weekend ? Don't even think about going. It's so ghetto and actually scary. Not doing this for attention or money or anything. I believe karma will come around for people who treat other people like this & then try to lie about a serious situation. Just want people to be aware where they're going & be careful. All her veins collapsed he couldn't even find a viable vein. It was extremely scary. I've worked in the hospital for years as well as been in the hospitality/entertainment industry for many years.
