Dinner

Absolutely wonderful Italian food! We're visiting Stony Brook from California, and this was one of the best Italian meals we've had in a long time. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and truly authentic -- exactly the kind of Italian food we were hoping to find. The atmosphere at Ragazzi Italian Kitchen & Bar was warm and relaxed, and the servers were super friendly, chill, and welcoming. We ordered several dishes to share, and everything that came to the table was delicious. The pasta, sauces, appetizers, bread, and entrées all tasted like they were made with care. It was the perfect place for a relaxed family dinner after a busy day in Stony Brook. Great food, great service, and a very comfortable atmosphere. We really enjoyed our evening here and will definitely come back whenever we're in the area. Highly recommended!

Ragazzi offers delicious food in a clean, cozy atmosphere with plenty of parking. Reservations are recommended. Unfortunately, the waiter's joke about turning into a rabbit from eating too much salad was off-putting. More concerning, our card was mistakenly charged for another table's bill, twice the amount of ours. Great food and ambiance, but service and billing accuracy need improvement.

Came back because we got a gift certificate. Glad we did because everything was very good. We enjoyed sitting in the bar area. Lively atmosphere. Nice assortment of fresh bread came out first. Our waitress was very oersonable. Drinks were delicious. Clams oreganata were small but flavorful. My veal dish was excellent. My husband had the rigatoni a la vodka with shrimp. Dessert was so good.

We had a large party and they did an awesome job. It was pasta night, so I ordered the Lobster Ravioli. For $26.99, you got a small salad, your pasta dish and dessert. The salad was good and go with the tiramisu, not the Napoleon. The lobster ravioli was also good but too salty. Spice level was nice. Just too salty. Those who ordered it (three other women) also agreed it was too salty but nobody sent it back. I kind of wish I had but it was tolerable. I wish I had ordered differently. Other than that, it was a top notch experience. I would recommend Ragazzi's.

A great Italian spot! Haven't been here in years, but I'll definitely be coming back. Great size portions for the price, which means left overs for the next day! Service was great, and food came out quickly and correct. Nice ambiance, lots of seating, and bar space as well. Looking forward to coming back!

I haven't had this much choice in pasta / Italian since before I stopped eating gluten (and that happened 20 years ago!). And WOW. I was so stunned by the whole menu! Add to that, I walked in with a book, got seated in a dark & quiet corner, and everyone was *just attentive enough*... while leaving me to my reading and my GF gnocchi. This place was the right choice for me tonight!

My mother in law was really excited to go here. We made reservations for 7 and were promptly seated on arrival. If you have a hard time seeing, you'll definitely need assistance with the menu, lighting is dim inside, so much so that even the photos were hard to take. But there is outdoor seating with umbrellas. A fairly large menu in terms of options. Our server was a delight. I was thoroughly impressed with the cocktail 'Cielo', so good I had two. We ordered a slew of appetizers, none of which came out hot ... I'd describe it kinda sorta maybe pushing it warm. I'd even say like it was frozen food sitting out cooked hours ago, sitting on counter that you nuked in microwave for less than 30 seconds. I'll give you an example the mozzarella cheese was no where near gooey or melted, I wish I had taken a video splitting it open. It wasn't a split, it was no where near boomerang worthy. Even the meatballs, you'd figure packed with heat, smh. My sister also described her dish as funky freezer tasting. Ehhh maybe it was a bad night or busy? Maybe give it another chance.

Fantastic Food, Excellent Service, just a wonderful Experience! The food and service at Ragazzi Italian Restaurant are outstanding. There are many gluten-free options available on their menu, such as fried mozzarella and rice balls. The portions are substantial, and the meals were all very delicious, fresh, and tastefully presented. Roger, the owner, and Mike, the General Manager, both went above and above for my wife and me. To commemorate our anniversary, they made sure we had a lovely booth. Landon, our server, was fantastic; he was kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. To make it a warm and unforgettable event, everyone went above and beyond. For Italian food, this is a must-try.

Ordered take out of our favorite dishes capellini frutti di mare (angel hair pasta with shrimp, scallops and calamari in a spicy fra diavlo sauce) and pappardelle bolognese. Caesar salad was good too. They gave us a generous amount of bread and garlic knots too.

The best part of the night was our server. The food not so good, it's pretty much an Olive Garden but nicer inside.

Do they have any craft beers on tap?

Not much from what I remember. You'll get a few more well known beers, but nothing super crafty/local.

Decided to stop by after reading a bunch of really good reviews in Yelp, so glad we trusted it…read morebecause everything was amazing. This is a small strip mall restaurant, walked in at 5 and the place was empty, however the staff was amazing, we had questions due to dietary restrictions and our waitress was very gracious and of she didn't have an answer she went back to the kitchen to check. She recommended the rice balls and they were so good, really hot inside and not hard at all, filled with lots of mozzarella and a delicious vodka sauce and dollop of ricotta. The baked cod special was super tasty and came with some mussels on the side, bread basket was perfect and bread was super nice and warm. Fettuccini was delicious and creamy but not fatty or greasy. We had a wonderful dinner experience and will definitely recommend this restaurant to another looking for good food and great service.

One time I tried a special called the Pollo Valdostano -- breaded chicken breast covered with mozzarella cheese in a creamy mushroom sauce. It was really good. I liked it so much that I've been back twice since then and asked the chef to make it for me, even though it wasn't on the menu, and they were happy to do it. There's not much in the way of atmosphere, but if you're looking for a decent meal at a casual neighborhood place, Il Trio is a good choice. Dinners also come with your choice of salad or pasta, which is a nice addition. We'll definitely be back.

I've lived in the area for about 15 years and had only tried Georgia's Pizza in Nesconset once…read morebefore--unfortunately, that first experience didn't leave much of an impression. Recently, I decided to give it another shot on two separate times, and some of their specialty pies: the vodka pizza with a garlic knot crust and the trio pizza (pesto, marinara, and vodka). I'll start with the positives--service was friendly and welcoming, which definitely made the experience more pleasant. And to be fair, the flavors across the pies were actually pretty good. The sauces complemented each other well. That said, the biggest issue--was the dough. It was noticeably undercooked which made the slices a bit doughy and hard to enjoy. On top of that, the pizza was quite greasy, which didn't help the overall texture. The undercooked dough stood out enough that it took away from what could have been a really solid pie. Another small note: the dining area looked like it could've used a quick sweep. Not a huge deal, but something that affects the overall impression when you walk in. I wouldn't completely write this place off, because the flavors are there and the staff is friendly. If I give it another try, I'd probably stick with a regular pie or maybe a Sicilian and specifically ask for it to be cooked well done. I think that could make a big difference.

Last time food was good, service was great, and the vibes were awesome. That all went downhill. The appetizers were greasy and bland. We ordered a burrata appetizer and it was just some spread burrata on bread with a mound of arugula on top? Fried zucchini was a greasy disaster. Had a chicken dish (can't recall the name) but the side rice was inedible. Disappointed. Service was fine at first but took over a half hour to order our food. Then they gave us the wrong appetizer. Ambiance was fine. Last time we went there was live music and the outside was decorated nicely but not the same. Very disappointing, would probably not come back now.
