Stopped in having never been before, and we are not vegan, and we SO happy we did. The food was flavorful and delicious. We started with the the fried guacamole and all loved it. I got the Farmyard Classic which is seasonal vegetables and their tofu scramble. The sauce that came with it was really good, but I also got a side of the cilantro (so delicious). I would definitely order this again. Everyone in the party was happy. The service was above and beyond! Our water was always full, the menu was explained so well, their concept was reviewed, and we were checked on many times. It's such a treat for a vegan to be able to eat biscuits and gravy. The lumpy delicious grey gravy that is famous in the south. The biscuits are huge and the gravy is plentiful. I had never heard of fried guacamole, so naturally had to try it. It was really great, so much lighter than I would've expected. The chips were amazing, fresh and crisp. Good strong, local, drip coffee, and other drinks. We ate mostly Mexican based vegan foods, but they have all different kinds of food. I wanted to try every dish on the menu. I LOVE this place! It's a bit out of the way for me to frequent more often but I will make special trips when I really want a hearty vegan meal. The tacos, regardless of which ones are always a favorite of mine, though I will admit there have been a time or two where they've been a bit heavy on the salt. Last time I had the carne burrito and man oh man was it ever good! The sauces that came with were devine on their own. I always love the sweet treats they have available, last time it was a sinfully delicious lemon lavender cupcake. Mmmm. Yum. If I could give zero stars, I would. My friends and I went to The Coronado to celebrate a birthday, and it turned into a nightmare. The service was abysmal from the start. They kept messing up our drinks and expected us to just go along with it. Our food was delayed, and to top it off, one person didn't even get their meal -- and there was no attempt to make it right. The servers didn't bother writing down our orders, which probably explains why everything came out wrong. When we politely mentioned that our drinks were incorrect, one of the pregnant servers was shockingly rude and could care less. She didn't even know what drinks she was serving lol. They even spilled a drink on the person whose birthday we were celebrating and didn't even say sorry! Mind numbing experience to say the least. The bartender seemed clueless, and it felt like no one in there knew what they were doing. Honestly, it looked like half the staff was out of it (high on something), as if they couldn't even understand the problems with our orders, let alone offer any solutions. This place is way overpriced for the kind of slow, incoherent service they provide. I wouldn't recommend The Coronado to anyone. If you're looking for an overpriced meal with terrible service, this is your spot. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and go somewhere else. Never coming back. My recommendation, fire everyone (except the cooks) and start from scratch. This place needs clear management and guidelines. Customer service isn't hard to maintain and it starts with the people who are in customer service. Do better. read more

The food here is always excellent! If you're searching for a vegan and plant based restaurant you'll want to check this place out. I don't primarily eat vegan or plant based and even I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the food. The staff is kind and attentive and not to mention how cool the design of this place is! Fabulous meal and great little vegan. GPS threw us off trying to find it but we eventually prevailed. I had the cauliflower tacos and my partner had the coronado breakfast burrito with added chorizo and we also ordered chips and salsa. The Santa Fe sauce is the bomb. It was all great. Servings were generous. Ambience was great. Trendy but not pretentious. Only negatives are serveware related. And totally nitpicky and this I am not digging the stars for it. I did not care for the water pitchers or glasses. Lame. My husband clumsily dumped half a glass on the table while trying to pour because the spout is the size of a titmouse bird beak. Very few people who've not served tea would intuitively pour slowly enough at first blush not to spill some of it. If it is meant to be poured by the consumer at the table (because the glasses only hold a swallow of water they are so small), it should pour easily and have a sufficiently sized spout for pouring water. Also burrito plate was TINY and when served one half was resting on the other half so it was hard to put the burrito down after only a bite or two. read more

How very wrong that I'm (currently) the Yelp "Duke" of The Coronado, but haven't written a review about them! I think it's harder to write about the places you cherish, and the Coronado is definitely one of them! Their delicious treats have given us little bites of happiness during our months of seclusion - especially the brownies! Back when we used eat "here" - we've had many vegan menu items and specials! My favorite special was probably the cornbread waffle with chili. Delicious! They've had a fun English breakfast special that I've enjoyed as well. I also like the red bean quesadilla, the tofu scramble (not currently on the menu) and one of the burgers that isn't on the menu anymore. The coffee is delicious and the treats are both innovative and decadent. Some are straight-forward great (I see you, funfetti cupcakes!) and others are more savory than sweet (rosemary cookies), but they are all made with care - and all vegan! The Coronado has been stalwart throughout the entire pandemic - staying open but taking the right steps immediately to keep customers and staff safe (and fed). I don't normally voice negative experiences on Yelp but I truly do not understand what is wrong each time I come to this establishment. I don't have anything to complain about before COVID when they were at their previous location but since visiting their new spot during weekday happy hour time (they're never busy when I'm there) I have not felt welcome. In fact the past four times I've felt like I'm inconveniencing them by being there and they go far too long in between checking on my party. I'm understanding and patient when I can tell an establishment is slammed but again this is always early on during happy hour on a weekday and there are only 2-3 tables including my own. This has led me to cut my visit short the last four times due to the service. I see a lot of love on here for this place but I'm not sure what's going on each time I go lately. Really makes me not want to support this place anymore. :( read more

We ordered a bunch of things to share including the Caesar salad, elote, and chips and salsa. I LOVED them all. The salsa is so vibrant and fresh, but forewarning, if you're sensitive to spice maybe avoid that one. I love spicy so it didn't bother me, but my boyfriend definitely felt the heat. The elote impressed us both. A nice smokiness from the char complimented by a creaminess. Ugh, so good. The Caesar really surprised me though because it was so creamy. I'm unsure if the dressing was vegan, but I like to think it was. It also had a nice Subtleness to it and wasn't overpowering at all. I ordered the mushroom tacos and loved it. I would have like more toppings, perhaps cabbage, but it was delicious either way. ASK FOR THEIR HOMEMADE HOT SAUCE... it is a must and elevates the dish. Not pictured is the bean burrito my boyfriend got, which he enjoyed. We spent about 75$ (excluding tip) which is pretty good for the amount of food/drink we received. The moment we got lucky with a parking spot in the small parking lot I knew this place would be memorable to this weekend getaway with my sisters. There was a 25 minute wait, however the staff kindly offered us to walk order drinks while we wait. The menu is fully vegan, and incredibly flavorful. The bonus was that it was a true delight to my party-guests whom are all on strict plant-based diets for years now. This place felt like home to us. I always get the potato tacos and every time they are just as delicious as the last! I also tried their blackberry lemonade which was good and refreshing but the STAR of the show are the pancakes! They don't look like anything special but they sure taste extraordinary and I cannot believe they're vegan! They have great indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant has great energy and is bright and airy! They do offer wifi but I wouldn't recommend coming in to work since they have no outlets. We ordered the fried guac ($12) and seared brussels ($10) to start; I got the Tepary burger ($15) with salad, and my wife got the Smoky eggplant sandwich ($15) with salad. -The guac was delicious, with breaded, deep fried avocado, and plenty of tasty garnishes, along with two sauces on the tortilla chips. Delicious stuff. 5/5 -The brussels were beautifully spiced and garnished, but perhaps not cooked quite enough -- my only complaint. Delicious dish though. 4.5/5 -Both our mains were tasty. The salad (mostly arugula) comes with a balsamic glaze dressing that was tasty. My burger was delicious, and so was the eggplant sandwich. THE CAULIFLOWER TACOS. They really are as epic as everybody says. My mom and I got stuck in Phoenix when our flight got delayed so we did an impromptu vegan foodie tour and The Coronado was our first stop. Both my mom and I love chilaquiles and we were going to order them but since we only had the appetite for one dish, we went with the highly highly recommended cauliflower tacos instead. They totally met the hype. Flavorful and filling! I would love to come back and try more dishes including the chilaquiles. I gave 4 stars because we tried 2 of their pastries and neither were worth eating because they were so flavorless (great texture though). I LOVE sweets and was super disappointed that I had to throw both the chai scone and cream cheese muffin away. I liked the old location. I adore cute cottages that are turned into eateries but I get that they are probably a nightmare to work in, space wise. So off to the new location I go. Of course this was after I had a quick cool down period and cry when I discovered that the Tuck House closed and Coronado took over the new location. Big Shoes to fill since the Tuck House was one of my all time favorite restaurants in Phoenix. The atmosphere is very cool and charming. The food is amazing. I could eat here very day. I am not a Vegan but I loved the dishes I tried and the others sound really different and delish! Today I dabbled with the glazed carrots, bean burrito, and the Blackberry Lemonade. All was wonderful. John my server was a Dear. He was so humble and kind. he seemed genuinely happy to see me and that I was visiting his establishment.
