I was kinda bummed that my first choice was not available (crunch wrap) and wish we would've been told when the waitress first greeted us. From the detail in the decor, to the curated mocktails and the well thought out menu. I had the Black seed burger and it did not disappoint. Even the ketchup served with the fries was unique and delicious. The desert was epic. I forget the name, but it was a cake that blew my mind. Texture and taste were perfect. I was in Phoenix and my non vegan friends recommended this restaurant and boy was it good. I had the Chimichanga and it was amazing! It was filled with potatoes and quinoa. Run, do not walk to this place. You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to be wowed by the food here! They are super friendly and make you feel welcome from the minute you walk in. It's super cute inside, very comfortable and unpretentious. Our group of three tried about 5 different entrees. There were leftovers that were still good, later that evening. So excited to find a plant based restaurant! The menu has so many delicious sounding options. I ended up ordering the cauliflower tacos. They were perfectly fried and crispy with great flavor. The Coronado is one of those love hate places for me. I know I'm supposed to love them (as a PHX vegan), and I do, but I hate that I feel called to go eat their cauliflower tacos and jackfruit flautas - basically 24/7. I can't say I've had their entire menu at this point, but I've had a good portion of it, like maybe 90% of it. The cauliflower tacos are a staple here, it's what drives people in droves to come dine on their all vegan, plant based menu. For me though, the real winner are the Jackfruit flautas. I've had those at least three times now and they've been out a few times I tried to order them, they're really a fan favorite and my personal favorite on the Coronado menu. I love the potato tacos too, they are super tasty. Honestly, everything about the menu here is a win. I love the elote, the fried guacamole, the vegan chorizo - pro tip order the fried guac and a side of vegan chorizo then put them together, it's so good and sort of like an order of vegan nachos - which BTW Coronado - you can totally do vegan nachos with the ingredients you have in your kitchen already with the chorizo. Coronado has a real problem with accommodation though. I've been here with friends with allergies, specifically corn, and when they wanted the potato tacos, the staff from the waiter all the way up through the manager on duty gave us attitude when we asked to do this as a burrito in a flour tortilla - allergies be damned they won't substitute jackfruit diddly on their menu - such a pain for customers, but easier on their kitchen I guess. Another for instance here is that they refuse to allow you to order a mix and match of the tacos, all three of your tacos must be the same. I understand their menu is made to order and not on a warmer and ready to plate then serve; alas, I'd still love to have a potato taco AND two cauliflower tacos. They will allow you to order an additional taco on your taco plate; however, they still require the fourth taco to be the *same as the first three. Service is sometimes great and sometimes just ok; recall the whole allergy thing, even the person who claimed to be the manager was argumentative, but they eventually did concede and allow us to order the tacos as a bowl with no tortilla at all. Coronado is in fact one of the very few table service vegan restaurants in Phoenix and with a full bar to boot. You really don't find that with vegan food in this town too often. For those two aspects of the dining experience, Coronado is nice for a date night, a decent option for family dining night, for grabbing lunch by yourself or meeting up with friends. Coronado could really elevate the entire experience here if they'd be more accommodating for their guests with allergies and guests who want tacos, but also don't want three of the same taco, their food is otherwise super delish. Just cut the general holier than thou because we are vegans attitude from service altogether and you'd be a super amazing place to eat. I'll definitely be back because they're so darn close and basically an extension of my own kitchen at this point, but I will do so begrudgingly while kicking and screaming and mumbling about having to eat three of the same darn taco when I want both. read more

My sister went vegan a few years back, and I'm always open to trying out plant-based cuisine! She took me to this place for lunch, and I was a fan. The vibe they had was so fun and right up my alley with the wall paper, light fixtures, and color palette. I ordered a fan favorite, the cauliflower tacos, and we shared a vegan rosemary chocolate cookie afterwards. Uhm the cauliflower tacos were amazing. They were trying to mimic anything meat, and I really appreciated that. The cauliflower was crispy but not over fried where you felt like you were eating fried batter and oil. It gets messy though because you are getting full cauliflower florets! It came in an order of 3, and that was a great portion. The rosemary chocolate cookie was good, but they've been better (she had brought them home before). I love the hint of rosemary; it made the cookie so fragrant. The cookie, however, wasn't as soft as I've had them or like, but that doesn't mean we didn't finish it in minutes! This restaurant is located in the Coronado neighborhood as the name implies, and there's plenty of parking with a small lot next to the building and a larger lot across the street. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I really like that every staff member is very sweet and attentive, even if I'm ordering things to-go or for pickup. I typically love getting the tepary burger + fries or chilaquiles, both are delicious and flavorful! I also love browsing their daily selection of pastries, which are freshly baked by Dark Hall Coffee -- they come up with different flavors of scones, loaves, and cookies every day, and you can usually find their daily rotating flavors on their Instagram story. It's a Sunday morning and wanting to find some breakfast before I leave Phoenix and head back home. They are located in a residential neighborhood and I was surprised that this hidden gem was there but I'm sure it's a nice addition to the community. I've been meaning to come to The Coronado for a minute and since they were open and on the way home I decided to stop in. The parking situation is less than desired a couple spots out front and an overflow lot access the street but on a busy day it can be very tricky. When I came today it was full luckily a couple was about to leave so I got a spot. I tried the Breakfast burrito- tofu scramble, red potatoes, black beans, spinach, red onions & cilantro-lime sauce. The burrito was very filling but not enough seasoning for my liking so I had to add salt and pepper(it was all I had handy in the car). Hazelnut latte with almond milk best hazelnut latte I've had in a long time. Cauliflower tacos fried cauliflower with guacamole, spinach, pepitas & avocado dressing. I appreciate that they weren't stingy with the cauliflower but could have had less spinach and maybe some other vegetables in it but all in all very good. Black bean burrito with refries beans. I have been here twice hopefully next time I'm there I will be able to try some pastries. Just tried the new location and menu. Love all of the outdoor seating and the inside is very spacious, plus easy parking. I had the beet and quinoa burger, minus the bun and fried onions to make it gluten-free. This was really good, especially with the chili and corn relish. The burger came with a huge amount of cooked to order, skin on fries that were piping hot, perfectly cooked and not overly salted - thank you! So many restaurants over salt and you hardly taste the potato, that was not the case here. I don't know if this pile of fries is the normal size or if they gave me a bit extra since didn't have the burger bun, but I didn't quite eat them all. I am not a vegetarian, and to be honest, when I hear about a vegan restaurant, I'm not interested. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the food. It was amazing and delicious, and the portions were huge. I went with a friend who is a vegetarian and she loved it. I ordered the cauliflower tacos, and she had the chorizo tacos. You get three with each order. We also shared the fried guacamole. The tacos were so delicious and filling. I could not finish all three tacos, but I was so satisfied with the meal. The sauce on the chips that came with the fried guacamole was superb, with the right amount of spicy. My only regret is that I did not order a drink,I will the next time I go. The restaurant is so cute and cozy. We sat outside, and it was a beautiful ambiance. I think next time I will go at night for a romantic vibe. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. I used the restroom, and there are what I can describe as retro pictures, but I found them to be creepy. It was a combination of the content and the lighting, which is very dim. Apparently their shipment of lettuces arrived so they're back in business w/ menu items that were not available aka anything salad-oriented. Yay. Okay now we regroup again, to change our order. Okay let me write this review before I decide that I was completely wrong in absolutely LOVING a vegan meal?! Yes. Me. Queen of "what is a vegetable". The cauliflower tacos were REMARKABLE. They were so filling (for me, that's saying a lot). The deliciously crunchy and juicy cauliflower was a perfect juxtaposition to the pepitas and avocado dressing. The corn tortillas were sturdy and flavorful as well. I also got an oat latte and I loved that they don't charge extra for various milks (looking at you, Brooklyn), plus whatever coffee roaster they use is robust. The service and people working there were amazing. Shout out to Sonya for giving me tips for other delicious meals in Phoenix. I am really blown away by the kindness. I definitely recommend this! We ordered another drink - a margarita, it was average. We also ordered fries as an appetizer, the Cali burrito(which came with chips + salsa) and cauliflower tacos. Unfortunately the fries were pretty burnt, the cauliflower tacos were too so I sent them back. On the bright side, the burrito was pretty bomb.
