Cute place with a great vibe! Located in the Melrose District, Yumbar is in the Royale, a building with multiple tenants and outdoor seating areas. Yumbar has an extensive menu of food and drinks. I wasn't sure what to expect from the food, but everything I saw coming out to nearby tables looked really good. Our waiter Jimmy was so nice and helpful! I ended up ordering one of his faves, the Oasis Bowl, and added shrimp. I love the Yumbar!! Had a great dinner there this past weekend. I had the Old Pueblo bowl and it was delicious - healthy, too! I'd definitely order it again. My friend and I shared the raspberry lemon ricotta cake for dessert and that was excellent as well. The space is so beautiful, fun and inviting, and the service was top notch. Came to Phoenix to visit my nephew 10-19-24. We arrived at the restaurant around 11:00 am. We dined inside but I think you're able to eat outside as well (not sure). We all ordered different items off the Brunch Menu, my nephew and I ordered sandwiches then swapped halves just so we can try both sandwiches, we ordered Pesto Cheese Sammie and Mighty Meaty Sammie, our friend ordered Heuerman's Hash and my brother ordered the Basic Bitch. All our meals were beautifully presented and the food was very delicious. We all enjoyed our meals. FYI, both sandwiches were very delicious but I preferred the Pesto Sammie because it was delicious on its own, the other sandwich was missing something like heat (something spicy was missing but then again I love heat). Our waiter was very friendly, great attitude and kept our drinks full. I'd like to go back again and try a different menu (perhaps dinner) because all their food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. read more

I love this place. So good. The venue it is located in is this cool retro space. It has a gorgeous patio. I have been to three events here so far and had a great time. We went again on our own last week on the holiday so it was very slow while we were there. I met a friend and we filled out some postcards for elections and were treated like royalty. Never once did we feel rushed and we had great service. The food is absolutely delish. The hamburger I had was one of the best burgers ever and I love their Rosemary Fries. Yummy. read more

Super fun vibe and delicious food! Would expect this place to be busy on a Saturday night, but it is still just under a month old and tucked away! It's in a little courtyard area with other awesome businesses (like window coffee!). My husband and I thought the decor was so fun, especially the flamingos outside. The server was super sweet. I got a veggie burger with sweet potato tots, my husband got a grilled cheese and fries. My veggie burger was very crumbly but otherwise tasted delicious! The tots were perfect, I loved the seasoning on them. My husbands grilled cheese needed to be toasted just a touch longer, but otherwise his food was good too! We went for brunch on Sunday and a show. The food was great with fresh ingredients and flavor and portions larger than I had expected. The drinks definitely disappoint and the bartenders and servers were friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. I never had to wait for anything either. The show (Barbra Seville (Juneteenth Babies are the best BTW) was also great and definitely glad we went. I want new businesses to survive, but the food is not great. I ordered what I thought would be a simple and sure thing, chicken salad. The concept is easy enough, greens with some fried chicken on the top. I'll start with the greens which were limp and slimy. They seem like they've been out for quite a while. They definitely weren't fresh and definitely weren't even out of a plastic bag that had been recently opened. The chicken pieces were a confusing mess. To start, they were cold, cold chicken seems to be a theme with friends who have visited the restaurant. They were also pounded thin, about the thickness of pita bread with a tasteless breading that was separating from the chicken. A friend also ordered chicken strips and they looked and shared the exact same qualities. Even throwing the chicken in the microwave for 30 seconds would have been a step up. It was 100% inedible and when I sent it back the waiter didn't act one bit surprised...or even concerned. I hope they take the feedback seriously and try to improve. There's potential for the location, but it's going to take a little more effort to attract more than a handful of regulars. read more

We were there opening weekend and quite impressed. The design and vibe of the place feels mid-century modern. There is both inside and outside seating. The service was pretty good and definitely friendly. The dishes we ordered were liked by all. Ordering drinks at the bar was quick but once at our table it took a while for drinks to arrive. It's nice you can make your drink a double for only $4 more. My only complaint would be around portion sizes for the price. The salmon bowl was tiny as was my salad. Fabulous and attentive service while still giving you your space and without hovering. We visited the day after the Grand Opening and the server was very familiar with the menu, was able to make recommendations and even suggested a sauce my husband would prefer over the one that came with the dish. The food was delicious and came out promptly! The first drink was a little slow to come out but the bar was packed and it's the first week. We both ordered bowls and I loved that the sauces were served on the side rather than drowned in a sauce. The food was fabulous with the sauce and came out the perfect temperature and the chef was gracious with all of our modifications. So excited YUMBAR is walking distance and we're already planning to come for brunch tomorrow morning! read more

I have been wanting to try this new spot. We finally made it but we were disappointed. The place is really nice. The food didn't have a lot of flavor to it. The chicken tenders were overcooked and there was one on the plate so small it was the size of a nugget. Didn't care for the green sauce with the tenders. Asked for Parmesan dressing and was charged a $1.50 for it, that was a surprise. The rest of the people in the party all agreed the food was bland. Ok so how do I explain this... My first experience with Yumbar was mixed. When we walked in, the host/manager (Dean), sat us. After 5 min the waiter, Ernesto, brought water and said he will be right back after he grabbed his pad and paper. When he came back he took our order and part of that order was a mimosa set. Ernesto then ran off to enter the order in the system. Keep in mind here that Ernesto was the only waiter/bus boy and had 11 seated tables. While we were waiting approximately 10 min for our mimosas, the manager, Dean, was cleaning menus in the far corner of the restaurant with his back to everyone. Finally he helped Ernesto and brought our drinks 2 min before our food.. Then off Dean went, upstairs never to be seen again while Ernesto is still doing everything for himself. My overall review for this restaurant is split, Ernesto was great and always smiling however he had zero support from the manager. Also the food was really tasty and prepared as requested. read more
