My friends and I recently visited Alexi's Grill for a girls' night. We had dined here a couple of years ago and enjoyed it enough to return, so this visit was unfortunately disappointing. The food quality seemed noticeably different from our previous visit. One friend ordered the calamari steak, which was very tough and difficult to cut even with a knife. Another friend ordered the duck entrée. Although she had never tried duck before, the flavor seemed off and tasted as though it had been frozen for too long. She ended up eating mostly the vegetables instead. Unfortunately, even the broccoli was undercooked to the point of being somewhat raw rather than simply al dente. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The Alfredo sauce was thinner and more watery than expected, and the shrimp was also quite tough. What was most disappointing was the response when the chef (or possibly owner) stopped by to ask how everything was. My friend politely and respectfully shared her concerns about the duck. Rather than acknowledging the feedback, he responded that people fly in from out of state specifically for the duck entrée and essentially shrugged as if there was nothing more to discuss. There was no apology, no offer to replace the meal, and no attempt to make things right. Every restaurant can have an off night, and not every dish will appeal to every guest (which is understandable). When a guest is dissatisfied however, some effort to address the concern goes a long way. We weren't looking for anything unreasonable--just some acknowledgment of the issue and an effort to ensure we left satisfied. On a positive note, we still enjoyed the ambiance and the drinks. The atmosphere was pleasant and made for a nice evening for catching up with friends who I don't get to see very often. Based on this experience however, the food quality and customer service left much to be desired. Given how much we enjoyed our previous visit, this experience was especially disappointing. read more

The food was fantastic. My daughter and I both had filet mignon medium rare entrée. It comes with vegetables and potatoes. All are sautéed. They come with either salad or soup. Service was great. They have waiters and waitresses both. All of them are courteous, kind, thoughtful, and very Tiney to your needs whether you need a glass refilled or whatever. Ambience was out of this world. It was very classy you could dress up or come casual, but I wouldn't come run the meal. It's not that kind of place. read more

We were a party of 6 and were treated amazing! This was my first time going there after my mom had been telling us about this place for... 20+ years! The calamari was thee best calamari I've ever had. It was lightly battered and perfectly cooked. Their lamb chops, incredible! Lobster ravioli, delicious. Chicken piccata, flavorful! Even my 5 year old who tried all the dishes thought it was the best food ever! Service was amazing. We definitely found our new spot for Italian dinners. Ambiance is great. The best thing on the lunch menu is the filet mignon. For $26, you get the filet mignon and a some vegetables. I asked for mine medium rare and it was perfect. But I ordered pasta on another day and the noodles were extraordinarily overcooked. The service can be slow, but it's not a showstopper. The service is actually better when the place is hopping versus when it's not. For the area, Alexi's is a good option for the price point. The interior is dated and lacks any type of true ambiance other than "this is better than nothing". The owner of this place also owns Christo's and the food is better here than at Christo's. But it's very clean inside and the you don't leave smelling like the food. That's a plus for me. If you're in the area and need a place to eat, go to Alexi's for lunch. I don't think I'd go there for dinner unless someone else pays for it read more

Dropped in on a Tuesday for the first time. We had limited time due to a diamondbacks game and our server was on top of it. She knew the menu and specials like the back of her hand and she got the salad out super fast. The mustard vinagarete was great but a little too much on my salad. Ceaser was average. We ordered the chicken piccata and chicken zingareli. Both pieces of chicken appear to be sautéed and had little flavor and were a little rubbery. The Italian sausage, veggies red sauce and pasta was excellent. I would skip the chicken next time. The carrots with the chicken piccata was also a highlight. I had dinner here for happy hour and got the crisp calamari, the blackened chicken Cesar, and a lemon drop. Everything was so tasty and the atmosphere was delightful. I stopped by Alexi's Grill for dinner on a Tuesday during Arizona Restaurant Week. Located off of N. Central Ave., I was happy to see that they have a large parking lot. Google Maps was a little off but I found the place without too much trouble. It is a bit tough to find because it's right next to a skyscraper. Ambiance (4/5): Pretty much your typical higher-end restaurant. And more so for an older crowd. Nice decor, a homey feel, and a small bar in one corner of the restaurant. It doesn't stand out but it's nice. Service (4.5/5): The waiters are attentive and pretty efficient. They will pick up your plates in a timely manner, re-fill your water, and do the little things. It took a little longer than usual to close my tab, but outside of that, very solid. Drinks (4/5): As part of their Restaurant Week menu, your meal includes a glass of Cabernet, Chardonnay, or Rose. I went with a glass of Rose. Not my favorite Rose but decent. Food (4/5): They start you off with some complimentary bread and butter. Always a nice touch. The bread wasn't the freshest but still appreciated. From there, I started off with the meatballs over penne pasta appetizer. Two jumbo meatballs in marinara sauce. The meatballs were well seasoned. A hearty appetizer. From there, I had their house salad which comes with their house mustard vinaigrette. I wasn't too excited about the dressing but it ended up being delicious. For my entree, I had the seafood crepes which are filled with crab, cod, salmon, and spinach. They top it off with parmesan cheese if you'd like some. Two crepes without a side so not the largest entree by any means but I appreciated the creativity and the sauce the crepe is lathered in. And then to finish things off, my favorite dessert and an Italian classic: tiramisu. Talk about a feast. read more

Our server wasn't as attentive as usual and our attendant that filled water and brought our bread and removed our dishes. He was literally miserable. This won't stop me from returning.... I was working downtown and decided to stop in Alexi's for lunch. Located in central Phoenix in a tattered parking lot surrounded by business offices. There is a small courtyard in front with a nice little pond to sit by in nicer weather. I was seated immediately and noticed only a few of the white linen covered tables had customers. A friendly waitress came over almost immediately and listed the specials. I was excited to hear there were a few seafood options. Lunch prices were all reasonable at around $16-$22 I chose the Grouper in Dill Sauce which came with a simple house salad, rice & vegetables. The salad, while very simple, was served cold on a chilled plate with a delicious creamy dressing. My food arrived quickly and my first impression was "unimpressive". The presentation was lackadaisical and sad. The grouper was cooked well with a nice crust barely detectable under the heavy creamed dill sauce. It was also too fatty of a cut for my taste. The rice and steamed vegetables were very bland and reminded me of cafeteria food. In fact, as I looked around the restaurant I noticed that I was the only one eating under the age of about 65. Which may explain the cafeteria like food. Definitely not a bad meal but definitely not my type of food. The service was very attentive and prompt, the decor while pleasant also reminded me of a retirement home dining room. We came here on the advice of an uber driver. We had a lovely time. The staff is very professional and attentive. My husband had the chicken Alfredo which he said was delicious. I splurged and got filet mignon which was delicious though not as tender as I expected. It is a very nice setting with candle light and x tables are far enough apart so that it feels a bit private. One of my favorite happy hours in Phx! The happy hour is only available in the bar area or patio. The happy hour deals are SO good! All of the items in the picture below were orders from the happy hour menu, making it the perfect meal for my friend and I. The meatballs were juicy and full of flavor, and I appreciated that they were served over a small bed of penne. The bruschetta is one of my favorite I've had in the valley! The chicken on the Caesar was freshly grilled and had a sort of balsamic glaze in it. The dressing was more of a honey mustard rather than Caesar but was still good. Alex's Grill is off Central. Although your GPS may have, you approach it from a side street. The best entrance is from Central. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, and the service was excellent. There is no music, and it is clean all over. It is not so ideal. They offer only one dressing: House. That is Honey Mustard Vinaigrette. It is mild and inoffensive. Perhaps you should bring some packets from home. You never know. Alex's is not a Greek restaurant, but they do offer Gyros and pita bread with other toppings such as Italian Sausage. They have many seafood entrees. For example, Salmon was less than twenty dollars. It came with a salad and your choice of one house dressing. The Italian Sausage Gyro had sliced broiled sausages. A Pita, the bread was replete with delicious, rich tomato sauce. It was so thick it could not be folded in half. You had to eat the gyro lying flat on your plate with a knife and fork. The tomato sauce was delicious. I would get some pasta with red sauce to do it all over again. This a great place to bring some one whose conversation you appriciate. What a great find in downtown Phoenix! The food, service and ambience were all just first class. Our waiter, who answers to (in his words) Tom, Thomas, Tommy, or Hey You, did a wonderful job with the wine and food service, and took great care of us. We were a group of eight heading to the theater that evening, and he promised to have us on our way at 7 pm, which is exactly when we walked out the door. And the food, oh the food was fantastic! We had linguine in clam sauce, baked halibut, shrimp in a spicy red sauce, chicken with pasta, shrimp cocktail, shrimp scampi, and all of it was great. Although we were stuffed, we still ordered dessert, and the tiramisu was over the top. Prices were good, and our group will return here soon. Bon appetit! read more

Absolutely incredible evening! The hospitality, the service, the cocktails, the appetizers, the salads, the main entree, the wine, the dessert: All impeccable to create a magnificent evening... There was a private party of over 20 people right behind our table. We could not even tell. They had a folding divider and the acoustics of this place are so incredible. The best way I can describe my experience at Alexi's would be underwhelming. I came here for lunch and tried the pastas and the gyro sandwiches both of which were ok, truthfully w bit bland and definitely not worth upwards of $18-$20. Visited Alexi's for restaurant week and it was a good choice! For $44, we were able to get 4 tasty courses. My party of 3 were able to each try a different appetizer. The meatballs were delish, the bruschetta was bite size but had great flavor and the caprese was good as well. For the second course, we had the tomato bisque soup and salad. Both were tasty. I enjoyed the seafood crepes for the entree. It was rich and creamy! The pork chops were cooked perfectly but a little salty. Wasn't a big fan of the scallop entree but everything else was really good including the spumoni ice cream we had for dessert. Our waiter was attentive and the ambiance is cozy with both the option to dine in or outdoors. If you're in central Phoenix, it's worth a try. read more

I'm a stan for their happy hour, so this place gets 5 stars from me. Honestly, I don't know how I would rate their standard menu-- their HH is so great, I'm always here for that. The bruschetta, Swedish meatballs, and combo plate are a perfect (and perfectly priced) dinner for two, and the drink deals are also fantastic. They have a nice wine list, but I usually get a Leon Drop, Cosmo, or Appletini. Service is consistently good. SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS Alexi's Grill & Catering 3550 N. Central Ave Phoenix, AZ 85012 Companion and I decided to visit Alexi's for dinner during Restaurant Week. Companion ordered from the special Restaurant Week menu and I ordered from the regular menu. It should be noted that the last time I reviewed Alexis was in 2017. We were seated immediately. The tables were all clean around us and the carpet was spotless. Warm garlic bread and nice salt butter were quickly brought along with all the assorted menu's of the evening. The restaurant week menu was $44 prix fixe and included appetizer, soup or salad, main course, dessert, and a complimentary glass of wine. A real bargain. Companion ordered Bruschetta, which was quite nice. This was followed by a lemon rice soup which was reminiscent of a broccoli cheese soup. Companion devoured it. Next was a double cut pork chop which had a brandy shallot demi-glace glaze on it. Companion would have liked it slightly less well done, but forgot to ask for it that way. Last was a Limoncello Mascarpone cake which I managed to get a taste of and which I pronounced delicious. (Normally I do not enjoy Limoncello anything). For myself, I started with Fried Calamari. Beautifully fried tender morsels with a nice marinara sauce to compliment it. The portion was large and companion helped me eat some of it. For my main course I ordered Shrimp Fra Diavolo. I asked for it to be extra spicy and with extra garlic and that was exactly what was delivered. I have not had any Fra Diavolo like this in more than 30 years. It was wonderful. The plate came with a portion of pasta that was cooked perfectly al dente. I had no room for any dessert after all this food. Alexi's has grown and it's servers and chef's are now serving a mature meal that would make anyone happy. Highly recommended 5 stars for excellent food, good service, and sanitation read more

I had a business meeting here that lasted over 2 hours. The staff could not have been any friendlier. It is a hidden gem as it is in a shopping center right off Central Avenue in Phoenix, AZ so you have no parking issues which is fantastic. The food was excellent; I had the salmon with vegatables and a salad. The seasoning was excellent and the salmon cooked to perfection. When weather permits in Arizona you can sit outside. When I took the photos the lunch crowd had left and they were getting ready for Friday Happy Hour starting at 3pm. They have 2 sections of the restaurant which adds to privacy which is shown by the screen in one of the photos. If you are in the Phoenix area near downtown you will love this place. It is not big and has a very quaint and relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend it. read more

I chose a drink off their happy hour menu that I haven't had in 10 years at least a cosmopolitan (I felt nostalgic) it was okay a little weak but okay. FOOD wow! On the happy hour menu everything was like $6 to $10 dollars and we all shared but each could be a meal on it's own! We got a sampler with delicious calamari, shrimp, tortelloni and something else I forget, that may have been over $10 I can't recall but tasty! Swedish meatballs were firm and juicy with a nice mild sauce with bread for dipping, regular meatballs (2) were delicious and served over pasta with a piece of bread ....(if that isn't a meal in itself I don't know what is) GREAT DEAL my partner got the chicken Caesar salad and also a meal in itself, our friends got a pork slider I think (served with fries) and a bruschetta I believe. My husband and I popped into this gem of a restaurant last night. Upon walking in you're pleasantly greeted by the hostess who also came to our table a couple of times to check on us. It's restaurant week, so I wanted to take advantage of their special. I had the house salad, bruschetta, salmon, and tiramisu. The salmon was seasoned well and was perfectly cooked. The Calamari is close to the best I've had in AZ. Highly recommended!! My husband had the NY Strip which wasn't initially cooked to the temperature that he requested, but our server was on it and had another out to him in minutes. We were very pleased with the level of service that we were provided, the food and drinks were on point, and the restaurant overall was clean, cute, and inviting. This place is a GEM! I am surprised that I have not been here sooner. I came here for lunch to meet up with my friend and her niece. I got the lunch special for the day: daily soup and seafood pasta. The service was outstanding, the bread was great, and love the environment. The daily soup was some cheese herb soup, it was fantastic especially with the bread. Then my seafood pasta was most delicious creamy pasta EVER! It was two types of fish salmon and white. I inhaled the entire dish and enjoyed every bite. Wished the dish and my stomach was bigger. Surprisingly cute atmosphere in Central Phoenix. On the more formal side, although I did see people casually dressed in shorts. Not really a casual work lunch spot as I initially thought when recommended by my coworker. Not sure if the menu on their website is accurate as my Spinach Salad came out to $15 instead of the $14 after chicken. After tip my lunch was $18 which is on the steeper side for a working lunch- and salad! The side itself was underwhelming- spinach, a ring of red onion, a few mushrooms, and a few thickly sliced tomatoes. Good portion of chicken for the extra $3-4, although sliced largely and needing to be cut into more bite size pieces. The bacon vinegar dressing was the star of the salad! It was thoughtfully packed in two containers which was plenty for the salad. The entrees sound delicious but not worth the drive from Tempe for me. 3.5 stars. read more

My friends and I visited Alexi's Grill & Catering during AZ Restaurant Week, and we were thoroughly impressed! The location offers plenty of free parking, making it super convenient. Our waiter, Thomas, was so incredibly knowledgeable. One can tell he really enjoys his job. The first course had three choices, one of which was meatballs. To my surprise, they were two nice-sized meatballs served on a bed of penne, and all four of us shared this dish. We also tried the bruschetta, which was delicious with goat cheese and fig, and the Caprese bites, always refreshing. We all had salads, and they were full-size, not just a side portion. For entrees, I went with the seafood crepes--two large crepes, but I could only finish one, so I got to take the other home. My friend had the pork chop, which was the hit of the table, perfectly cooked with a nice crusty top. Another friend had the scallops, five large ones, cooked to perfection. For dessert, the Limoncello Mascarpone Cake was truly out of this world. The bright lemony flavor combined with white chocolate made it the best dessert ever!
