My husband and I came here for lunch while visiting Phoenix over Thanksgiving. We came at 12pm on a Wednesday and were seated immediately at one of their outdoor tables. At the time we came in, it was just before lunch, but there were a couple of people sitting at their outdoor tables already. One of the servers brought us water immediately and directed us to scan the QR code for the menu. We ordered shortly after that. Service was friendly and efficient. We had everything that we needed in a timely fashion. Our food was served quickly after ordering. We shared the seared brussels sprouts to start. These were good, and were also paired with soyrizo. However, the soyrizo was hard to detect among the brussels sprouts. For mains, my husband got the beet and quinoa burger, while I had the tofu scramble. My husband raved about the beet and quinoa burger, saying that it was potentially the best burger he'd ever had. My own tofu scramble was fine, but was nothing amazing in comparison. I also felt that I could have made the tofu scramble a bit better, but this was my own preference for a different kind of flavor. This is a nice place to have lunch or dinner if you are vegan or not. To be honest I haven't dabbled in much of the vegan restaurant scene around Phoenix, but ended up at The Coronado with a vegan friend and enjoyed a fantastic meal. Our server, one of the original members who started the restaurant, informed us that although they do not advertise as being "vegan" everything on the menu is plant based. They're goal is for customers to enjoy their meal just like they would any other regardless of going in with the mindset that it is plant based. There were several items on the menu that stood out but ultimately I opted for the chimichanga - since I'd never seen a vegan option like that before! It did not disappoint, only sad part was that I did not leave a single bite to enjoy later. I'll definitely be back to try the other menu items next! read more

I'll preface this review with the fact that I'm not vegan and honestly don't like most veggies. So why was I at a vegan restaurant you might be wondering? Well, I was here with a vegan friend and I'm always willing to try new foods. I like the restaurant itself and the service was great. Food was passable (but again not a vegan so not sure how it stacks up to other vegan options). Prices were a little more than I was expecting but it's a locally owned place that ethically sources its food and takes care of its people so I don't mind the price too much. My favorite items from our meal were the blackberry smoke drink I had and the rosemary chocolate chip cookie we shared at the end. I didn't know rosemary and dessert went together but it was actually really good! Overall I would come back to try something else on the menu and I'll be better prepared for the hefty price in the future. read more

Full disclosure: I am obsessed with Coronado. How could I not be? At their old building there was no inside seating due to COVID so I would sweat my ass off in the hot sun and, get this!, I loved it - because the quality and flavor of the food is INSANE. This is the vegan restaurant to take your not vegan family too. Every item on the menu is so good if they served Coronado's food in hell I would assume I'd just been mislead and I was in heaven. The new building has excellent, easy parking and is hidden on a quiet street. This is an Instagramable location where the food is just as good as the photo op. This time around I had a good day sandwich - the biscuit is perfect. A little sweet, a little savory, totally soft. The fries have changed a bit since the last time I had them but for the better - full of flavor, the San Jose sauce might actually be made from God's tears, the texture is perfect. As someone whose diet once consisted of fries and wine exclusively - I can say confidently these are the best fries I've had in phx. E had the biscuits and gravy which (are you surprised?) SLAPPED. We left so full and the total check was $36 - we tipped in cash. Portions were crazy - we packed up tons of leftovers. Also - not sure how they did it but the avo on my sandwich was perfect. I feel like so many restaurants just slap whatever avocado they've got on a sandwich. Maybe I've romanticized this place too much, but I truly believe this a restaurant that cares down to the last detail and it makes a big difference in the quality of the food. Location - cutest little spot with inside and outside seating on 7th Street just North of McDowell on Monte Vista - it's a cute little woody earthy spot. Food; The Coronado is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and on this trip I ordered the cauliflower tacos - and they were yummy, the corn tortillas were fresh, with perfect amount of guacamole and pepitas. Would go back to order these again. Also, ordered a orange cup-cake that was fluffy and delicious. It would appear that it may be super sweet - it actually was not, perfect amount of sweetness. We went here two nights in a row from out of town. Our server, Mars was absolutely terrific both nights. We tried the chilaquiles and burrito the first night and they were delicious. The second night we were immediately greeted by the male bartender who was extremely rude and made a comment in front of other guests about how we did not read the sign about waiting to be seated. His rude demeanor, unnecessary commentary & attitude as a new guest and introduction to the establishment are the reason I would not go back or recommend. Not impressed! Came here for my birthday because a local program raved about the cauliflower tacos. Unfortunately we went home gassy and with an upset stomach. IMO you can make anything passable by deep frying it. I had the cauliflower tacos and a friend had the Potato Flautas. We shared the fried guacamole. We both agreed the fried guacamole was the best of everything besides my cocktail The Coronado. However, we both felt we could have had regular guacamole and been delighted with that. A word that comes to mind to describe our food is "too much". The chips for the fried guacamole had two kinds of some sauce drizzled on it. The flautas were placed in some sauce or on top of the beans and had the green cilantro sauce drizzled on top with coleslaw on top of that. Coleslaw on flautas???? There were just too many different, contrasting flavors covering up what you're eating, which was potatoes in a fried tortilla. Even the beans had a strange flavor and I love black beans. Less is more please, let the natural flavors come thru. We both left not feeling very healthy for eating a Vegan meal. Not sure if the oil was old or reused but it wasn't a good meal. On another note, our server did not remove any of the used dishes ie: the appetizer plates until we were almost finished with the meal. We had a small 2 person table and found ourselves juggling dishes to try and eat. My friend said right away she would not ever come back. We went to The Coronado for the first time tonight. Completely impressed!! Great food! Service so personable and helpful. We got to bring Sunshine to their wonderful patio. Really homey feel, could see spending lots of time on their patio. We had the Chimichanga and the chilaquiles. Oh and did I say it was all Vegan!! Generous portions!! Washed it all down with GrandCanyon Amber beer and hibiscus iced tea!! Awesome!! So so good and we will be back and hopefully soon!!! read more

Super cute little house, and it appears that all the seating is outside, which is great bc I brought my kid who's too young to be vaccinated. We ordered inside at the counter, then picked a seat outside and they brought us our food. There are misters and shade on the patio which made it bearable even in June at lunchtime. Parking was fairly easy to find in the unpaved lot next to it, but there was also lots of street parking available mid-day. GET THE CAULIFLOWER TACOS! I was kind of disappointed at first to realize this was a vegan place, but OMG that was an amazing lunch. My picky 8yo devoured her fried guac and chips (odd, but it works!) though she said the cilantro dressing was a bit spicy. Our first visit. We chose it because it was vegan and we hadn't been there. The menu selection is very limited. We had the chimichanga, Cesar salad and raspberry cake. The cake was not edible. Was in the area for a quick trip to pick up our new rescue pup, and finally got to try the Coronado. I am a huge fan of Green across the street, and have seen a lot of new vegan restaurants opening up in the area over the past few years. I don't get out here much, but when I do I always make an effort to try another vegan spot, and Coronado has been next on the list for some time. Rad little building with ample outdoor seating amongst plenty of plants and trees. Line outside starts at the door and one party is allowed in at a time to order. Staff was friendly, dog was able to accompany me when ordering. Food and drink came out rather quickly. The breakfast burrito ($10.50) - flour tortilla stuffed with tofu scramble, red potatoes, black beans, spinach, red onions & cilantro-lime dressing. Great flavors, but a tad on the small side. Everything was very fresh, especially the potato. The cilantro lime dressing added a nice zing, and the house made hot sauce was delicious! Nice roasted flavor profile with a slightly sweet background flavor and a little kick. The coffee was good, had a quad iced americano with a splash of oat milk. Overall was very good, just a bit of a small meal overall for close to $20. Will definitely be back to try more of what they have to offer! read more

Dropped by this place for a birthday lunch and did not regret it one bit! I came by with a friend around 11 am on a Monday and was surprised to see how crowded it was in terms of parking. Luckily there was ONE spot left when we pulled in! I ordered the "chorizo" tacos with tofu, my friend got the breakfast burrito with eggs, and we split the fried guac. Now first off, the fried guacamole was amazing and I'm slightly addicted/dreaming of when I can go back and get some more! The tacos were pretty tasty and well seasoned and were some of the better tofu tacos that I've had the pleasure of eating. My friend seemed to like the burrito as well so yay there! Love this place. First off don't be surprised that it is an order at counter place. They have such great ambiance and service that ordering at the counter is actually a fun thing. So with that said they do not take reservations- so get in and grab a table! The menu is so great but we both just wanted to try the vegan chili. Soooo good! The other mind numbing piece though is the cornbread that accompanies it. It was the moistest cornbread I have ever had! And this is without butter! This is a really cool spot. After getting a colonic at Ancient Therapies, the Coronado came highly recommended for lunch. The cauliflower taco in particular is what my therapist told me to try. Once I got there though, there were soooo many other things I wanted to try. It was a pretty packed house, the only seats available were outside and the high top area near the front. I went back and forth with a few items on the menu but took the suggestion of my therapist and the lady behind the counter and went with the cauliflower tacos. They were absolutely delicious. I loved the batter they're fried in. I will say, they didn't have much to them though and I've had better vegan cauliflower tacos but they were good!! I plan to visit again and again and try something new every time. I like this place! read more

Had high hopes, but this was incredibly disappointing. Got the Cobb salad and it still left me so hungry. It's pretty, but that's because of the tahini sauce they slather all over it. When you start digging in, you see that it's not that much food, and what's there is just not satisfying. Also got the elote, which I did not enjoy at all. The cob is so tough and doesn't sit that well in your mouth when you bite into it. Also had the chia pudding, which was surprisingly tasty, because the coconut milk makes it sweet, but that's something you can make at home and certainly isn't worth $8. My vegan friend had long wanted to try this place so when I visited him in the Coronado district, we decided to give this establishment a try. We came during the lunch hour so there was a wait of about half an hour, which we understood because of the hour and the popularity of the place. The ambiance was very casual and tasteful and the server was friendly. I ordered the tepary bean and mushroom burger and my friend ordered the beet and quinoa burger. We gave each other a taste of what we each ordered and I found both to be very good. The fries that came with mine were excellent. We each ordered a canned beer to go with our food. The whole dining experience was pleasant until we got the bill, which came to almost $80 after tax and tip - for 2 burgers and 2 cans of beer-- quite a shock to both of us, but we paid anyway and told each other that we probably misread the menu, and can't afford to return as it was too pricey. After reviewing the menu later in the pictures posted here in yelp, it turns out that the burgers were each just $13.50; the beers I believe were priced typically for their quality. I still can't figure out how we ended up being charged so much and I would like to think that there must have been an unintentional error somewhere in the billing process. So, based on our dining experience: 5 stars for the food, 1 star for the billing, hence the 3 star average. read more

I really dig the vibe of this place. I like that it's in an old house, and I really love the porch. It is especially fun at night with the strings of lights across the roof illuminating everything. The food is also pretty good, but everyone knows that. We've been there for breakfast and lunch, and so far we're going to join the masses and say that the cauliflower tacos are the best things on the menu. I have enjoyed everything I've had there. I can't lie - it's not my favorite veg joint in the Valley - but it is up there. And I have to give a shout out to the employees. Everyone I've run across there are super cool, super friendly, and super chill. The trifecta of a great service. I often think, "Man, I want to be friends with you!" I like the vibe, I like the food, but I am not a super fan of the set up. It is kind of frustrating that there is no separate line for drinks, so if you want another drink during your meal, prepare to line up and wait a long time. I really love the food here, and it's so close to my house that I wish I had nothing but good things to say. But unfortunately, the service here is horrendous. If I could give it a negative star rating I would. We walked in 30 minutes before closing JUST WANTING DRINKS, and we were told 3 times that they were closing soon. The waitress didn't even bother to say hello first, just right into wanting us to leave as quickly as possible. Mind you, I don't mind being informed of this, but the way it was said was so rude and the repetition was unnecessary. I have also walked in here many times and was ignored by every staff member for over 10 mins when trying to be seated. Not to keep going but I have also been made to feel super uncomfortable on multiple occasions near closing time. And have been asked to leave 8 mins before closing when I was just sitting on my laptop outside. I wish I could give this place more stars, but the waitresses are just beyond rude. A vegan/vegetarian Mexican restaurant? That's almost unheard of - so when I found out about the Coronado I went out of my way to visit, and I definitely don't regret it. You place your order at the counter and then get a number that you take with you to a table, where your food will be brought to you. We decided to dine outside on the patio. Seating is pretty limited here but it's nice for small groups (up to 6). I honestly wanted so many things on the menu but we had to settle for getting 2 things to share between us. We got the deep fried guacamole and the potato tacos. Deep fried guac honestly just sounds amazing because it combines two of my favorite things into one dish. It's basically a ball of guac that's crisp on the outside served on a platter of chips. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish - the only thing was that the tortilla chips were a little too thick for my liking. I would've liked thinner chips. The potato tacos were also amazing, but just had slightly too much cabbage on them. I'm sure next time I could just ask for less cabbage. Also, the servings here are massive. The tacos order came with 3 massive tacos that were well stuffed. Not the tiny tacos that some places try to pass off as "adult servings." I can't wait to come back here and try more dishes off the menu. Next on my list are the chili guac fries and the red bean quesadilla. This place is a hidden gem in this city! read more
