This is my all time favorite spot.. period. Ever. Just wow. If I could go here everyday I would. The food is truly made with love. Every time you go in, you will never have to choose a dish. They have two options... regular or vegan, and of course if there are any allergies they will tailor to that.. The dishes change every time you go in and they are always spectacular and full of flavor. They are always served with a mint chutney and South Indian bread called chapatis which is handmade there. My favorite part is the light desert, I crave it on a rregular basis. It is lightly sweet and addicting. Also if you are there try all of the drinks. Brought the kids here to eat the freshest home made Indian food in town. It's one of my favorite places in town to eat. I love the atmosphere, the food has always been delicious and flavorful and never too heavy. I like that it's connected to other restaurants so that if someone isn't feeling the flavor, they can choose something else. When my mom asked to see a drink menu or what wines they had, the girl at the counter just pointed her finger at the wines on the wall. Nobody throughout out entire meal asked us how things were, offered to refill anything, or offered the seconds. I had to get up and ask someone at the counter what to do with requesting more. There were only 2 other tables in the room, so no excuse for this. -Food: Uninspiring I've had Indian food before, only twice, but for each occasion the flavor profile was so complex, dynamic, foreign, and amazing. The food here was anything but that and instead was bland, flavorless, and served room temperature. -Value: EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. Should be less than $10 a person, not over $20. I was really disappointed not in that it was so bad, but that I went there to celebrate a milestone in my mom's life, that she was excited to go, and that it was such a mediocre and unmemorable experience. You know it's good when the majority of the customers are of Indian decent. There's an art when cooking Indian food, everything is vegan, but it doesn't feel like your missing meat or missing anything. They hit all the flavors that you need to feel satisfied. I never feel like I need something else to complete my meal. It's also very nice that I don't have to choose what I'm getting, they give you what they've made for the night. came to the west market because the wifey was raving this spot for pizza. and yes vegan pizza too . . so we came to west market and its like a open food court with sit down indoor area and outdoor patio too. . so came in and order for something to go along with our vegan pizza. so yes this place serves vegan food. i think it is south indian style. . there is no choices to choose, basically its a thali plate and comes with three entree, nann bread, yogurt, and rice. the three entree they served was dall, eggplant, and saag. . the saag was the most flavorful on the thali plate. the eggplant was kind of bland. the dall i didnt like much it was soupy like. the flavors for the thali plate isnt flavorful enough, each entree was missing some spice to it. i am use to more stronger spices cooked in indian food. it wasnt bad just nothing stood out to me, or makes me want to come back. . overall i do like the choices and options in the west market food court is what i call it. anyways thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day! read more

This is the second time I come to thali and I love it even more now. The service is always incredible. They are super personable and warm. We had friends in town who wanted to go to another Indian restaurant but I convinced them to try something different this time. Thankfully they didn't not regret their decision. They loved everything about thali, specially the food of course . We also had their chai tea after dinner and it was delicious !! Not too sweet which I loved. It's also located in a great location. There is lots of things to do around the area after dinner. Have a glass of wine next door (or drink it while you are having dinner) walk by the river, go to the movies or go to a bar. I don't know how I have never written a review for Thali, it's my favorite restaurant in Reno! This is the kind of food that you can taste the love that they put into it. This restaurant sources local organic produce and then makes "thalis" or plates of different dishes, either vegan or vegetarian. All plates come with three different dishes, a delicious rice, carmelized onion, a small veggie salad, the most amazing minty chutney, roti bread and a dessert. This is an all you can eat restaurant, but I believe now they offer a smaller bowl and even a burrito! The restaurant is located in the west street market and you can eat inside their space or out in the communal area of the market. They are covid compliant and have tables spaced six feet away and they even offer to go! My husband and I have been to Thali at least 30 times and we have never eaten anything we didn't like AND they even get me to eat some vegetables that I normally wouldn't! Thali is healthy good food for your spirit. When you support this restaurant you support a local family and the local farmers that Thali sources from, and in times like these, that's important!! read more

This is a very unique review- as it actually covers two businesses and an event all in one. Reno Supper Club is now in the Bowl location, and it is hosting pop up restaurants. Very ideal since the front dinning area is cozy with limited seating, but the spot has access to the larger dinning area in the common space, and the fully operational kitchen. Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays 6p- 9p Thali is operating their pop. They are offering northern Indian cuisine. Thali means plate in Hindi/Nepali, Tamil is an Indian, Bengali and Nepalese meal made up of a selection of various dishes served on a round platter. The idea behind a Thali is to offer six different flavors. Tonight's thali was a yogurt raita, cabbage & potato masala, dal (French lentil soup), moong dal (a bit spicy for me), besan (dessert) with rice, chutney, and paratha (flat bread) in the center. What a fantastic way to discover the flavors of another country and culture. And if there was a dish you were especially fond of the server brought out a larger serving pot and gave you seconds. Yelps friends wanting to share this new find and their experience created a SSUYE that I was lucky enough to hear about. So I tag along. If I could give the service 4 Stars, I would. Unfortunately vegetarian dinner with a Chai tea was over $20 for small portions of very cheap ingredients. I guess because it's mostly vegan the curries are made with a base of coconut milk. At least, that's what it tasted like and it made the flavor of the meal tend towards being sweet. Everything was very mild, nearing on bland. The only thing that added flavor was the tiny garnish of mint chutney and pickle. This pop up restaurant has taken on the space where BOwl used to be. Always looking for some new Indian food so we decided to check it out. Not bad for Vegetarian There's only one combo on the menu each of the three nights a week they are open. Check Facebook or their website for daily menu. Served in a stainless steel tray,with 6 smaller bowls of various foods. We had Dal, a blank eye pea dish, beets, a sweet carrot dessert and yogurt sauce. Also some spicy mint chutney, pickled onion and a sliver of ginger. Also flat bread All were very tasty and they come around and refill your bowls as often as you like. All for $15.11. Really enjoyed my meal and would definitely go again although I'd prefer some lamb vindaloo and maybe a samosa or two All in all a good meal. I happened upon this gem of a restaurant while on vacation. I tried every vegan/gluten-free restaurant I could find during my time in town, and this one was, by far, the best. No fake meats or substitutes here, just fresh local ingredients cooked up in small batches with love. Even if you've never eaten Indian cuisine, you'll easily enjoy the food here. It turned out to be about $15 for "the plate." Totally reasonable for the portion size, not to mention the craftsmanship.
