Coconut soup was watery, tasteless, and contained few mushrooms or chicken. I've included a picture so you can see the water content. Green curry lacked flavor and portion was surprising small for the price. Worst Thai I have had in some time. Steer clear.

Ordered Chicken Satay, Pad See Ew, Beef Massaman Curry, & Curry Duck. Satay was standard skewered chicken w/ peanut butter-like dipping sauce & chutney of cucumber. Pad See Ew was good, but not best version I've had. Noodle has to have that distinct chewiness or it looses something. First time having Massaman Curry, which is CNN Travel's #1 of World's 50 Best Foods. It was not #1 for me (least not yet) but was flavorful- generously sauced peanut-infused coconut curry with chucks of cooked potatoes, medallions of tender beef, & scarce carrot/bell pepper. Standout was Curry Duck, a Chef Special seasonal version that included chunks of pumpkin. Duck had crispy skin despite swimming in red curry sauce & generous accompaniment of vegetables that included broccoli & pea pods. Would hands down return for this dish again & again. Interior not fancy, but warm; staff pleasant.

We got the mango sticky rice and it was pretty good! The portions are small but good for a dessert or side. Service was quick and friendly.

Thaiwat had an online special on curry so I decided to give it a try... I ordered the traditional green curry in coconut milk with bamboo shoots, green bean, red pepper and fresh basil with tofu and steam noodles - spicy level 5. The taste of the food was excellent and the portion was fair for the pricing. The flavor was complex but fully balanced. The highest spice level was just right - I think much of anything less would potentially be a bit too bland. The lips tingled a little bit from the spice but nothing felt like it was burning or painful. Quite excellent flavor, really. The staff was very friendly when I picked the food up and it was hot and ready at the scheduled time. Ample parking in the shopping center and handicap spots nearby. I'd be happy to visit again.

Had some time to kill before the movies and did some searching for local restaurants. We came across Thaiwat, the menu looked good so we decided to give it a try. Looks as they say are deceiving, I say that because it's located in a strip mall. Don't be nervous by the illusion that everything is spicy, they had a lot of mild dishes. All of which were served quickly and with a friendly smile. If your in the area I'd recommend a visit, FYI it's BYOB.

Nice place in a strip mall , they went the extra mile with decor . The service bland and the food even blander. This was the most generic and spice-less Thai meal I have ever had. Very disappointing and hard to imagine a future visit. The decor gets 1 star and the food and service get 1 star . read more

Awful food and awful service! I ordered the lunch special of panang curry and veggie rolls. The curry was very watery and not spicy at all. When I went to remind them I ordered veggie rolls they told me they had already given me dinner portion curry so they would not get me the lunch special i ordered. Who orders dinner portion at 12 pm? I specifically ordered the lunch special and even pointed. Obviously they made the mistake and knew it but still made the customer pay for it. Very unprofessional. This will be the only and last time I'll be going there. read more

Sorry to say but if you are a big fan of Thai food, do NOT go here. The taste and quality of the food is horrible. Maybe other food on the menu may be better, but the Basil Chicken or beef dish and the Drunken Noodle were not good at all. To make matters worse, they served us spoiled steamed rice. The ladies were nice but the food was extremely distasteful. read more

We ate lunch here on a Saturday. Be advised that they don't have lunch specials on the weekend so you have to get the full meals at full meal prices. That being said the food was very good and had good flavor. We shared a shrimp in a blanket appetizer and it was served very nicely in a boat with sauce. I had the Pad Thai with chicken and tofu. It had very good flavor, a nice balance between salty and sweet with a hint of citrus overtones. The waitress was very good about customizing our orders - I have an egg allergy and they worked with me no problem. I was slightly underwhelmed with the portions. It was a nice amount, I just expected a bit more for the full meal price. On a side note, the bathrooms were also very clean and the inside was well maintained. All in all a very nice addition to the area that doesn't have nearly as much ethnic diversity as one would expect for an area of this size. read more

One of my favorite places in the area. I've only ever ordered take out but the dining area is cute and quaint. The vegetarian jack and sue is one of my all time favorite dishes ever and the coconut sauce is amazing and the vegetables are perfectly melded. That being said I've never ventured beyond that much in the menu as after living/ traveling in Asia/Thailand I've never truly found food that compares, so haven't tried pad Thai or any other traditional dishes. Definitely satisfies any Asian food cravings though. read more

Very good Tom kha kai soup and veggie rolls. Dinners (My wife had the seafood madness and I the drunken noodles) were excellent. Good service, especially since there seemed to be only one person in the front of the house. We'll be back for sure. read more

I only got take out, but the resturant is very small. I got pad thai since that's my favorite. It was the worst ever! I could make it better from a store bought box. It was bascially chicken and noodles, without any flavor. Dish was bland and lacked color, usually it has some color from veggies! This turn me off to this resturant and haven't gone back since then. read more

I go here weekly for lunch, both take out and dine in, so I'm not your "I've tried this place one time and had a bad day, so I didn't like it", I LOVE their food. There has not been one time I was let down. The curry entrees are AMAZING, along with their Pad Thai. Staff is extremely nice too. read more

14 of us had dinner there tonight. We were all very pleased. Our food was excellent and the staff was very helpful. We brought an anniversary cake and they accommodated us. The restaurant is very clean and there are no annoying tv's on. Music was nice and in the background. We didn't have to compete to talk. We will be going back. Thanks a bunch! read more

I usually order at least two lunch special because the price is reasonable ..$6.95 for a soup or app and a half portion entree. I got pad thai and it was very sad. Shrimp wasn't really fresh and the sauce was very watery and tasteless. Pad Thai is my favorite asian dish and they didnt even come close. The waitress couldn't understand me at all and didnt really care to help me much. Ill never go back. read more

I'd go to Mikura or Zhuang's Garden for Thai before I'd go here again. The only descent dish I ever got here was the Panang Curry. The PadThai and Drunken Noodles were poor tasting and skimped on any meat. I like the location & atmosphere. I really wish I had more positive things to say about the food. read more

Thaiwat is truly a hidden gem. It's location is deceptive to how wonderful it truly is. It's quiet, which I love, I know sometimes people find it to be off putting when they're in a restaurant hat only has a few guests. I've been here a few time and most recently I ordered the Tom Yum Talay (hot and sour soup with seafood) and the drunken noodles. The soup, notably the broth, is fantastic. It's light but packs some powerful flavor. The drunken noodles are a go to, but I would recommend the "evil jungle princess" which my friend had, it was the perfect combination of veggies and meat in a delectable sauce. I know the service is minimal but I do lean towards that as my preference. The server, who is also the hostess, is present at all times but don't expect her to continually check on you. Coming from philly, I've missed authentic Thai food dearly. I've found what I've been missing in Thaiwat. Not only is the food great but the menu also includes a little story of the history and the meaning behind the name. There's also a page describing the spices and flavors used in Thai cuisine. I also appreciate that not only do they have their traditional dishes but they also offer variations and vegetarian options. read more

Server at Thaiwat changed the tip amount on my receipt from a $3 to an $8.. Reported it to my bank and received the credit. For $5.00 Thiawat has lost my future business. Anyway its cheeper to go to a chinese buffet or get chinese take out. read more

Been here a few times. Food is decent as is service. Some visits are better than others. Overall impression is OK and portions are small for the price for Berks County. I prefer Thai Cuisine in Muhlenberg - more flavorful, more ambiance, more friendly and more food. read more

I won't be back. The portions were terribly small, salad overdressed and bitter w/ way too much lime juice, entree noodles overcooked (precooked, reheated?), chicken, what little there was, overcooked (precooked???), over spiced, and yes, I love spicy food but not to the point that's all there is. VERY small portions, chipped dishes, dirty menu, dirty floor. Horribly disappointed. No excuse, not at all crowded on a Friday lunch (3 tables), now I know why. The waitress was very good, service prompt and polite. What a shame. read more

I recently ordered takeout from Thai Wat and was blown away by the quality of the food and the excellent vegetarian options. I ordered the mixed veggie & tofu options which included drunken noodles, pad thai, and basil fried rice, along with some veggie rolls to start. I ordered all the items at level 3 spicy, and they did not disappoint. All the dishes were amazing, especially the Basil fried rice which was bursting with flavor. The Drunken noodles and Pad thai were also outstanding, with just the right amount of spice. The Veggie rolls were decent but not particularly memorable, although they were a nice appetizer. What really stood out to me about Thai Wat was their willingness to accommodate substitutions for vegetarians. As a vegetarian myself, I always appreciate restaurants that make it easy to customize menu items. Thai Wat was very accommodating and made it easy for me to get the dishes I wanted without any meat. Overall, I highly recommend Thai Wat for anyone looking for delicious Thai food, especially vegetarians who want a variety of options. Was pleasantly surprised the first time I went to this place, lovingly coined as "Thai Diner" to many. It looks like your standard NY/NJ diner but the menu is all Thai food! It's so unique and wonderful. Everything cooked here seems fresh and homemade and the service is great. Large portions at reasonable prices and an extensive menu. I had been missing my favorite Thai spot in the city and wasn't sure this could live up to it, but it really does hit the spot. read more

Tonight I ordered carry out & made the trip from Leesport only to discover I was given the wrong bag when I made it home. When I called after there was no apology or sincerity, just bring it back in to exchange it. The second trip ended the same way. I'm sure there was a couple other very displeased customers tonight. Enjoyed the chicken pad thai, hot/sour soup and thai iced tea. The woman who helped with my pick up order was sweet and friendly.
