With the first bite you can tell that the texture is spot on. Flavor of these bagels go great with their cream cheese options. I usually LOVE NY bagels. But today, around 3, I ordered a toasted everything with olive cream cheese, tomato, and turkey. It was nearly FIFTEEN dollars. First, it took 8 minutes waiting in the drive through while I was sitting at the window for one bagel. Then, my bagel did NOT even come with turkey, which I bet I spent more on than the bagel itself. It was also a MESS from the bag, and cut very off. I am very upset by the whole experience and paying $15 for just a tomato and cream cheese bagel. I don't know if I can go back after that. Took variety home, no one could get serrated knife through them. A bagel is not a soft pretzel, but should be able to bite into it. Find size is all over the place. 1 spinach bagel the size of my fist, the next a little bigger then a slider. Ordered breakfast sandwich requesting smear of mustard (add some flavor/moisture) staff looked at me like I had 2 heads. Sandwich was bone dry- no condiments. Which goes back to original thought, why do I keep coming here? Shouldn't have to "doctor" bagels or sandwiches to make them enjoyable. They should just be good. New York Bagelry makes a very good tasting bagel that is far superior to any other bagel place in the Reading/Berks area, but they could put just a little more effort into their consistency. Although they consistently make a round bagel, the shape within that circle tends to be all over the place. Service is always great! The place looks exactly how it should look for a bagel place. Note to the owner- I come about once every two weeks and always order a dozen bagels with a small cream cheese. You would absolutely make my day if all 14 bagels had similar, if not identical shape. We stopped by for bagels and lunch sandwiches as we had been out all day. We ordered the exact same sandwich. My clerk asked like a dozen questions, her's asked her nothing. Both sandwiches arrived the same way... not sure why I had to answer a million questions and got the sandwich that seems to be the "standard". Bagels are always good. This is a great stop for a brewed coffee and bagel. We stopped in on our way out of town to grab some bagels to go. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, and my husband ordered a bagel with cream cheese. They were super generous with the cream cheese helping! He said it was "a mountain of cream cheese". We don't mind that, but if you do, you may want to ask for them to go a little lighter on the schmear. My breakfast sandwich was so hot that I couldn't eat it for about 20 minutes. I'm grateful the food was hot, but it was far too hot to enjoy right away. It also took quite a while to get our food, and there wasn't anyone ahead of me when I placed my order. I make the drive from the other side of Reading to get my bagels in West Lawn. Great bagels at a great price, this place has a fantastic selection, which ranges from plain bagels to a french toast bagel. This place is absolutely fantastic. These guys are good at making bagels and that is what they stick to. Everything is bagel related, the sandwiches, the cream cheeses are all there to complement their robust selection of bagels. They have a great deal for $18; you get 14 bagels and two 1/2 lb. tubs of cream cheese. I already mentioned the variety of bagels that they have, don't let me forget to tell you about the cream cheese. They have a wide selection of cream cheeses, from fruit flavored, to vegetable based cream cheeses they have it all. Too bad I prefer simple butter on my toasted bagel. However whenever I have an event at the office, I grab the $18 deal and I am suddenly the king of the office for the day (or at least the morning).
