We have been wanting to try Big Bertha's for some time and just could never get here before closing at 8:00. Finally had a chance to get here earlier (7:20). When I walked in the door I was told that they are only doing ice cream and select cold sandwiches. Since when is 7:20 acceptable for shutting down your grill when you "close" at 8:00? To say I was miffed is an understatement. It will be quite a while until I try this place again. Maybe sometime when I can get here by 6:00 the grill will still be on. read more

So....I'd like to start with this review on a positive note. Big berthas USED to be good. Maybe about 10 years ago. Since then, it's been on a steady decline. I used to go to this place because they had quality cheesesteaks and friendly customer service. Today I experienced possibly THE worst food and customer service I've ever experienced! I walk in and I asked for a BB cheesesteak with NO ONIONS. The young lady asked if I want sauce and I said yes. My wife standing right beside me can account for this. So we get home with the sandwiches and my wife's tuna sandwich was just "okay". I open my cheesesteak and it was soggy, gross and riddled with onions! Now if there was a few onion slivers, I probably would have let it go but you can see from the images, that this was not the case. it's a big sandwich and it costs $18.50 but there was no way I was even going to attempt eating that POS. I call up and I apologize immediately because I NEVER complain about anything. If anything, I should probably speak up more! I told the young lady that took my order that I'm sorry but I can't eat this. It's riddled with onions. Didn't shout or anything and I was very polite. Can I come back and get a sandwich with no onions to replace it. Not thinking that I should bring this disgusting POS back, I immediately left go all the way back. I get there, walk in and wait for about two minutes. The girl comes out and I say "sorry for the miscommunication" even though I have nothing to be sorry for. She asked for the other sandwich and I told her I threw it out (besides, who else was going eat that greasy, soggy thing - I did not say this to her) She says she can't do an exchange without the old sandwich (it would have been nice if she would have told me that on the phone) so l simply shook my head and said "this has been a very unpleasant experience" and walked out. I didn't raise my voice or curse or anything but apparently my wife had called them after I left big berthas and the manager was rude to her as well and she said the young lady who screwed up my order was in tears because I was so rude to her!!! To be honest, I couldn't care less if this place went under. It's seems that's where they've been heading. No wonder there's never anyone in there. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! The food isn't even fit for trash pandas. AVOID BIG BERTHAS AT ALL COSTS! Unless you're into the whole punishment and torture thing. I'm sure this review sounds dramatic but it's mainly for me because I am P****D! read more

Didn't even get to try their food but, what's more important of any kind of establishment is customer service!!!! After hearing amazing things about this place I decided to call them at and ask their hours. The lady picked up and said we will be open until 8pm. Decided to leave Lancaster, PA with the excitement of enjoying a Big Bertha for the first time. Long story short... Through miles of back roads it finally leads me to the place where it was completely dark. I was a bit confused looking over the time and realized it was 7:28. As I walk up to the door, I see the lady walking around but the door was locked. I started knocking on the door to get the lady's attention and she looked at us and then proceeded to turn the lights off to the outside of the building then she walked away pretending we didn't exist. Decided to call them and the phone was ringing ; this time she ignored it.... so guess what ; I left! Horrible customer service! I'm sure the food is great but whoever the lady that was working today on 11/7/17 needs to be fired! I refuse to go to this place as she looked at me like I was crazy. This restaurant is attached to a driving range and serves as the 19th hole of sorts, but without the beer... I ordered a cheesesteak and fries. The fries were good, but there were too many of them for one person. Good for a group, not so good alone. The cheesesteak was ok, but not great. Onions were a little raw and the sauce overwhelmed the sandwich. It's fine, but not great. Not sure if I would eat here again. read more

Disappointment. Ordered a cheese steak, turkey salad, and chicken steak. The cheese steak, if you call that.. had only one slice of cheese. Didn't really taste like a cheese steak. The chicken in their chicken steak is dry. Turkey salad is ok. It lacks any seasoning. If you're familiar with screpesis sandwich shop, this doesn't compare. I would rather get my subs and salads at screpesis. I think of Big Bertha as a big waste of money. Plus you have to pay a 3.99% credit card fee whether you spend $1 or $100. Screpesis waives it after you spend $10. Big Bertha was a disappointment with their mediocre food. read more

This place is like a little hidden gem. I got one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. I had the medium Italian and I'm glad I only got the medium because it was HUGE! All the meat was high quality and the veggies were crispy and fresh. Price was average but well worth it. They are located at the Pagoda golf area so you can hit balls or play mini golf while you're there. They have hand dipped ice cream too. One of the best sandwich shops in Berks County!! It is one of the few places in this area that offer 18'' sandwiches, and they are FILLED!! The Belly Buster is perfect for a couple to share and the french fries come in generous portions as well. They also serve ice cream, and have indoor and outdoor seating. I've had better experiences in the past at this place... it's going down hill... maybe. The booths were dirty and sticky and there are no tables/chairs inside. If you want a real seat (rather than a booth and bench) you have to be willing to take your food outside. Not a good option when it's too hot or the weather turns cooler. The food was incredible the first couple of times I was here... then... in June 2014 came the disappointment. What used to be a sandwich filled to overflowing was not a lot of bread and not a lot of meat/cheese and the other good stuff. The steak sandwich seemed to have almost as much onion as steak. The flavors were still good, but much less bang for the buck! I'm willing to spend if I get my money's worth! If you're not a golfer, there's little to draw you here. But they are adjacent to the driving range and the miniature golf which could be fun for the kids. A little attention to detail (cleanliness) and when you order a "Bellybuster", it shouldn't be describing the amount of bread you'll be eating! read more

Ham sandwich was inedible. This used to be one of my favorite sandwich shops but has drastically reduced its quality. The ham was such poor quality that I had to pick it out and was left with a messy lettuce and tomato sandwich. Very disappointing. read more

First, their chicken cheesesteak sandwiches are huge. The chicken is as tasty as the sauce, and both are served hot. The fries portion is huge as well- more than an adult might expect or want-- so great for sharing. The fries area also fresh, not bag-frozen-- tasty, potato-ey fries. Their counter people are efficient and friendly as well. In the summer they have shady outdoor seating, or A/c cooled booths inside. They have a exceptionally long list of hard ice-cream flavors for cone or dish. The prices may seem high, but the serving sizes make up for it nicely. I have visited there five or so times over the past 3 years and was never disappointed. read more

The sandwich was fine, would have been great had it been what I ordered. I ordered a Cali Cheese Steak. I get 30 minutes for lunch so I called and ordered ahead of time. The menu specifically states lettuce, tomato, mayo (comes with sauce). I confirmed with the women who took my order I wanted mayo ad sauce and when I picked it up, got back to work, no sauce. I called and the women said I can come back down there and they will give me sauce. So for the 30 minutes I get for lunch I am going to spend 25 of it and my gas running back there to pick up something that should have been on there in the first place. She offered me an apology and nothing else. Check your food when you pick it up. Ticks me off I spent $13.19 for a sandwich and I have to now wait another 5 hours until I am home, to add my own sauce to it. read more

If I had to pick one word to describe Big Bertha's Grill, it would be, "Incredible"! Everything about this place is awesome. I had heard about the portion sizes prior to going, but nothing prepared me for the huge amount of deliciousness I was about to indulge in. I ordered the medium cheesesteak and an order of fries. My beautiful wife got the medium buffalo chicken cheesesteak. When the food came out, I was truly shocked, in the best way possible. The cheesesteak was absolutely massive. I am a large man, with an appetite to match and I can usually house a large amount of food with no problem. I took a bite of the cheesesteak and immediately fell in love. The roll was fresh and delicious and the steak had the perfect melding of cheese and onions mixed in. The fries were also perfectly crisp and tasted phenomenal (not to mention that a "small" order was about the size of a dinner plate). I'm humbled to say that after a solid 20+ minutes of chowing away at this beast of a sandwich, I had more than half left and had to take the rest to go. My wife's chicken cheesesteak was fabulous as well and she also left with a second meal. I should also note that the excellent food is also accompanied by an amazing owner, Kristy, who is an absolute sweetheart. If you want great sandwiches at 1980's pricing, this is the place to go! They have the best cheesesteaks and Italian Hoagies for the price. The Big Bertha will feed two to three people. The Party sub for the Italian Hoagies will feed four. The sandwiches are always stuffed. I recommend you try Big Bertha's out. Great food, great service. great value! read more

friends of ours told us about this place and we looked over the menu and thought it was somewhere we would like. We stop by on Tuesday june 25,2013 at 8:00 pm and it was closed. My husband,daughter,son-in-law,grandson and myself were very disappointed. We were under the impression that they closed at 10:00 pm. While we were there several other families were also wondering why they weren't open! Fast forward to last night July 6, 2013, I called to make sure that they were open. Answering machine told us that they were open till 10:00 pm but couldn't get to the phone. So we headed out at 6:30 pm. GUESS WHAT..... They were closed AGAIN a hand written sign on the door said closed at 6:00 pm to watch the fireworks! Maybe they should have said that on the answering machine. We will not be going back .... but I don't think that they will really care. They seem to close early on a whim and don't care that their cutomers are traveling 30 minutes to get to their resturant.
