My horrible twin cheeseburger that seemed to be soaked in watery mayo... thanks for wasting my money V&S!
My C.

Went to pick up dinner for the family. Was craving for a good sandwich; to my memory V&S was great. Until now... so where to begin. Stood looking at the menu, not sure exactly what I wanted for myself. Noticed the following: one employee eating from the fry area, one employee training another employee being condescending to him "what are you doing, put the onions over there, ugh", one employee telling the cashier her telenovela guy problems. Whew! Then I ordered: the employee seemed like he rather have been shoveling horse stalls then working. Then my food was ready, so I took my $40 order and went home. Sandwiches were horrible... cheese steak looked like it was sitting out for hours, cheese Italian was soaked in oil, twin cheeseburger looked like it was dipped in runny mayo. Totally disappointed don't eat at this location you have a group of careless employees running this place to the ground and giving V&S a bad reputation. Eating at Mama's moving forward!

Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak!
Ryan D.

They offer a great variety of both cold and hot sandwiches. The buffalo cheesesteak is amazing, but I would suggest the hard roll, as the soft roll has a hard time holding the sheer weight of the contents. They also sell Good's chips were are awesome as well, especially the BBQ variety. Another great aspect to this particular location is that they take credit cards and from what I have heard, the other locations don't. The prices for the food are reasonable, but the drink prices are a little high and their large size would probably considered a medium most other places. Overall, one of the better places in the Reading area for a cheesesteak.

Yep. Mold. They gave me a hamburger with a moldy roll.

Screpesi's Sandwich Shop - Large Italian on hard roll - this is a terrible picture the sub is quite large. It also looked (and tasted) so much better than it appears.

We were out hiking at nearby Nolde State Forest and worked up a powerful hunger. I had figured to…read morestop somewhere and as we were headed back, I remember seeing this sandwich shop and thought we might try it out. We're glad to have stopped! We had a turkey on a soft roll and an Italian on a hard roll. Both were great and were loaded with toppings. The tomatoes were very ripe, thick cut, and juicy. The onions, plentiful and strong, and the rolls delicious. The service was very friendly, too. I enjoyed the tomato relish on the italian and next time will ask for more and also light oil and vinegar. I think I'd also prefer the cheese on top of the meat instead of atop the lettuce, tomato, and onions. The sandwiches were huge and delicious and several other locals were in getting their suppers while our subs were being made. We were not prepared to not have an indoor seating area but the gals said there was an outdoor seating area so we enjoyed our sandwiches at the two clean picnic tables. We really enjoyed our subs and will be back the next time we visit Nolde.

I first visited this location shortly after they opened, almost 10 years ago now. That experience…read morewas so godawful bad, I vowed never to return. I decided to try their pizza that time, and it was literally on the level of a Chef Boyardee pizza kit from my childhood. The sandwich we got was also not up to par compared to the original location. Well, I wound up here again yesterday. I called their other location to place a to-go order, got a busy signal, then tried again a minute later. But I called the wrong location by mistake. Since it was just sandwiches and had been so long, we decided to just go there anyway since it was our mistake. And that's what it was, a MISTAKE. I got a cheesesteak, and I did not care for it. They used Provolone cheese instead of American, but they didn't melt it , they just put it on the sandwich and put the meat on top. Either the meat or sauce had a slight sour taste that was not very good. Not enough meat on the sandwich either, as the last 1-1.5 inches on each end of the sandwich had none (they didn't cut the roll to the end). The ham on roll was not very good either, with way too much mayonnaise, hardly any tomato, and bland onions. And we specifically asked for them to cut our sandwiches as we'd be eating them in the car on the way somewhere, and they forgot to do so apparently. The other location is much better, so drive the extra 10 miles and give this one a HARD PASS.

I just can't say no to V&S…read more Although I've never actually set foot in V&S (at this location or the two others dotted across Reading), I find myself absolutely addicted to their subs. About once a month, a co-worker of mine says she's going to V&S and asks me if I want anything. I do indeed. And what I want is an Italian sub. They are so baller here. It's almost like a White House Subs level of fanaticism. So basically whenever I go down to AC, I make a point to stop at White House to pick up a giant sub before even checking into the hotel room. Then on the way out of AC after a weekend of debauchery, I stop by White House again and buy TWO more subs to take home. Whenever I order at V&S, I get subs by the pair. It's never just one. It's at minimum two, but I could definitely see myself ordering three at a time. That could last me the next day or two. A whole sub makes a great dinner. A half sub makes a great late night snack. The other half is a perfect lunch the next day. So what makes a great sub? Well, tons of high quality meat for one. Like, it needs to be piled high. Two or three layers just doesn't cut it. Then fresh cold ingredients, like tomatoes, lettuce, and onion. Next is high quality olive oil that pairs well with an exceptional red wine vinegar. Perhaps one of the most important components is a robust roll. And last but not least, a crushed red pepper relish that adds an extra bite to each, well.. bite. V&S has all of the above. In contrast, the hot dogs here are straight ass. I know, I know. Who gets hot dogs? Well, someone who relishes in the joys and heart complications of transfats for one. Mike from the Jersey Shore was known as "The Situation." You can call me "The Saturation." The hot dogs here are limp and shriveled. I'd wager 7-Eleven has higher quality dogs. On the plus side, if you ask for extra toppings - especially if you request them on the side - V&S is super generous. I asked for onions and they asked if I wanted them on the side. I said sure, so they included a big bag of fresh sliced onions. This was enough for the hot dogs and provided an additional cache of onions that I could sauté up with some chicken and veggies to make a completely separate meal. As I finish this review, I have a major hankering for one of their Italian subs. BRB, gonna place another order.
