Never went to the previous location but this new place is spacious. The tables are spread nicely and not noisy where we had to shout to each other. The food was excellent; ate egg rolls, papaya salad, red curry with duck, pineapple fried rice with crab, and pad Thai with fried chicken. The flavored ice teas were not overly sweet and can taste the specific fruit. What I found impressive was the service. We realized that he was one step ahead of us the entire time, and we never had to try to get his attention! From water refills to receiving the takeout containers and never felt rushed. The best Tom Kla soup my dad (who's a Tom Kla connoisseur) or I have ever had. So flavorful and fresh. The Pad Thai is also amazing, the perfect bite to the noodles with a wonderful sauce and perfect chicken. It was also pretty inexpensive at $25 for Pad Thai and Tom Kla, both with chicken. The staff were great. We got lost on the way () so I called back and the person who took my order was super sweet and gave me directions. We got there to pick up a takeout order right as they were closing but they were still so nice. I only went in briefly, but the interior looked cute and the exterior was awesome, it looked like a home. One of if not the best Thai places I've ever been to. We're definitely going back and I'd recommend to anyone looking for Thai food in the Reading area. read more

My partner & I have visited this spot twice & plan to return. - So far, the cashew shrimp has been our favorite - LOTS of veggies. - The massaman curry is tasty - but could use more rice to soak up the ample sauce; the sauce-to-veggie/protein ratio could be a little more generous. - The spring rolls are just fine flavor-wise, though crispy and not too greasy. - The coconut shrimp were good, though I didn't actually notice the coconut flavor. This guys is very mean. I was calling to get an order to be ready while I walk to the place and he hang out the phone 3 times saying that I can do an online order. My break from the hospital is only 30 minutes and I wanted to accelerate the order. When I got to the restaurant I told him that he was no nice and he make me wait and told me "you can go to another place". I told him in a nice way that it was not a good costumer service. I hope the owner of this restaurant can approach this message and do something about his actitud and service since he seems not to care about it. Authentic Thai experience. Although I probably wouldn't know an authentic Thai experience if it bit me in the ass. The only Thai I've ever eaten was at American Thai restaurants. It's like if I went to Panda Garden Heaven Delight and called that authentic Chinese. All I have ever known about Chinese food is American Chinese. Probably not the most authentic. But delicious nonetheless. Every noodle dish is a hit. The drunken noodles have great heat and lots of fresh mixed veggies. A fried egg is a nice touch. Can't go wrong with the Pad Thai, either. Hint of spice and a great lime zest. There's an element of sourness as well. A splash of rice wine vinegar perhaps? It really elevated the dish. Splurged one time and got the crab fried rice. Generous portion of crab. Savory, flavorful rice. And yes, more fried egg mixed in to my delight. I do have a qualm with one dish, the Kapow - stir fried choice of meat in roasted Thai chili with fresh garlic, onion, bell pepper, basil. Sounds great, right? Well, it ends up not being so great when you find out it's basically a stripped down version of the noodle dishes without the noodles, all the while costing the same. Basically you get a quarter of a plate of chopped up meat resembling dog food (but to their credit, tasting much better). It's a purely meat and vegetable dish. They need to desperately up the portion if customers are to find any value in it. I've had food from here delivered, but sometimes when I'm feeling assertive I'll walk my lazy butt 0.3 miles down the road and pick it up myself. The staff has always been very friendly. Whenever you're craving Thai noodles - drunken, Pad Thai, or otherwise - Spoonful will satisfy your urge. The fried rice is also a huge hit. Definitely a welcome addition to the West Reading strip. read more

I was hoping for the best with this place because I was really in the mood for some good Thai food. This is the definition of a "hipster" Thai spot. Definitely caters to the West Reading crowd from the look of the spot to the taste of the food. Very bland. Here's what I got: -Egg roll ($6.95): comes in an order of 5. They looked fantastic, but the flavor was lacking. I like my egg rolls greasy and flavorful, but these left more to be desired. I needed every bit of that Thai chili sauce to help make it taste like I wasn't eating air. So disappointing. -Pad See Ew ($13.95): my go-to dish at every Thai spot I try. It was watery and tasted sooo bland. I had to add my own soy sauce to make it taste like something. I think they use regular broccoli for their pad see ew and I've always seen Chinese broccoli used at other places. I prefer the Chinese broccoli. Good portion size though, but I could even eat half of it because I was so underwhelmed. -Black Sticky Rice Pudding ($7.95): I wanted mango sticky rice like I know every other Thai place to have but this is all they had. YUCK. This definitely seems like a "trendy" twist on mango sticky rice. Could've done without it. The sticky rice was good but wayyy too much of the cream to where it wasn't even like pudding. And who thought to add blueberries???? No, just no. I was so disappointed and immediately wished I went elsewhere to eat. I will not be returning. read more

We decided to try here when we were in West Reading and holy knock your socks off. We started with crab Rangoon and egg rolls. Both were excellent! The crab rangoon was legit crab, not like you get at other places. I ordered one of the curries and had no idea it'd be as good as it was. You pour it over your rice (equally as good) and I had to slow myself down because it was that good. Service was friendly and fast, as they do a heck of a takeout business on top of the restaurant. It's small, so making a reservation is key. We didn't, but were there early enough to get a table fast. We will definitely be returning, even if just for takeout. We had an out of town guest, and my girlfriend was coming home from visiting family and we needed takeout. We agreed on Thai, and were deciding between the two local spots. We settled on Spoonful after looking at the menus. We used DoorDash for delivery (driver made great time, all product was delivered intact, etc, no issues with this) . We ordered 2 drunken noodles (spicy) and a pad see ew (mild) . Upon delivery, we cracked open our containers, and began to dig in. The noodles were delicious. The sauce was tasty. The veggies tasted fresh. Man this is pretty goo.... Wait a minute. So, the two drunken noodles were ordered "spicy" and they had 0 heat. Like a .1 out of 10 perhaps. Maybe on the level of black pepper. My girlfriend had the mild pad see ew... .and it was actually spicy. Like, it wasn't mouth melting hot, but was like a 4/10 on the pepper scale. Food is definitely good with fresh ingredients but I feel as if this place definitely caters to the standard American taste buds as this was probably one of the saltiest Thai dishes I've ever had & no spicy heat whatsoever after requesting (very very spicy) & as Thai food being my 2nd favorite ethnic cuisine I've tried many many many different Thai places all throughout the east coast. Prices seem standard to what many other Thai restaurants have but they definitely have very small portions to other Thai restaurants but I guess it's expected being that its a bistro-cafe like setting.
