I was in the area doing some Christmas shopping and made it a point to grab lunch here after I had a good first experience. Upon entry I was quickly seated and cold water was brought to the table. During my last time here I discovered the cooks are Burmese so I promised myself that I would order a Burmese dish the next time I came. Today was the day to do exactly that. I placed my order and waited for my food to arrive. Eventually my order arrived. Nan Ji Thoke: a savory noodle dish with chicken and hard boiled egg garnished with onion and crunchy split chickpeas. The dish is accompanied by a side of clear vegetable broth. Shortly after my food arrived I noticed the waitress speaking with someone who came out of the kitchen. I was then introduced to this man who happened to be the owner. We struck up pleasant conversation about Burmese food, my limited experience with it and desire to further explore this cuisine. Our chat led deeper into discussion about restaurants in Philadelphia and what cuisines should come to Lancaster. Aside from the conversation, the dish was fantastic. I had Nan Ji Thoke before but this expression was better than I ever had. I made sure I verbally expressed this as well. I savored the flavor on my palette for approximately the next two hours. Stopped by while working in the area. Shocks to find a Thai place in Amish Country. In a strip mall so plenty of parking. Interior is bright and inviting. Service was awesome. The owners are a husband and wife that are very sweet and they will even make you a customized roll with whatever you want if you ask. Easy online ordering for takeout. Shrimp pad thai was ok. Little skimpy on the shrimp (3-4) had 4-5 pieces of tofu. I had a curry dish and my mom, who was my dining partner, had traditional Pad Thai. We also split an order of chicken satay. All the ingredients were fresh and the food was quite flavorful. My curry was a bit spicier than expected, but was still good. Service was a bit slow at first but our food came out from the kitchen in a timely manner. The restaurant seemed to be family-owned and had a warm and friendly atmosphere. My only recommendations: 1- consider making changes to the way they serve their curry. The pot and rice spoon were incredibly awkward to manage. 2- consider increasing the portion size for the dipping sauces for the appetizer. Ordered takeout and after coming to yelp and reading all the five star reviews I am confused and wondering if I just ordered the wrong thing. I ordered the pad Thai with tofu and requested the Thai hot spice level - didn't detect a hint of spice and it barely had any flavor. I think there were 4 pieces of tofu with it and they were soggy like it hadn't been drained, not crispy at all. My husband ordered the green curry which is his favorite Thai dish and he could barely eat it because of the spice level (ordered medium) - so they must have mixed up the spice levels of our dishes. Overall nothing terribly bad about the food other than this, but it was disappointing after hearing great things. On the plus side the order was ready on time for pick up. read more
