My wife and I are from NY and Chicago and recently moved to central Florida. We have been disappointed with the selection of Thai cuisine, but when we came to Ormond Beach one weekend we decided to try Woodhouse. We read some reviews that were not very positive, but the restaurant has the mango and sweet rice dessert that's hard to find. We ordered the Tom Yum with chicken. Although I agree with other reviews that it was a little blander than other restaurants' Tom Yum, they included much more chicken and vegetables than many we have dined at. Adding a little chili sauce gave enough extra flavor to make it quite appetizing. The fresh roll appetizer was very fresh and satisfying for those who want to taste good fresh basil and raw vegetables. The peanut sauce was a good complement without being too "peanutty" as some of you Thai food lovers can understand what I am saying. We ordered a noodle dish for the kids and selected tofu as the meat and our vegetables. It was a little bland, but for the kids I am good with bland compared to too salty. You can always add a little salt if you need. My crispy duck was delicious. Cooked very well and tender meat. My wife's pineapple beef was also delicious. Too many other places will use poor quality tough meat in this type of dish, but they prepared this well. And the dessert. We were spoiled with a Thai restaurant in Illinois that flew in fresh Thai mangoes when in season and their mango sticky rice dessert was to die for. We expected to be disappointed with the dessert here, but pleasantly surprised that we preferred the sweet sticky rice here! The mangoes were ripe, soft, and not drenched in condensed milk at all. Service was decent but not exceptional. Overall we give it a 4* with a few stars from our order. If you want quite salty food flavors I agree this will disappoint you if you don't add salt, but for those of us who generally think restaurant food can be too salty, consider this place to try. read more

This place always has wonderful food! I eat here relatively often, as I have an affinity for Thai curry, and they always knock it out of the park. The yellow seafood curry is fantastic and keeps SO well for leftovers it's actually kind of crazy!! Service is quick and they're never too bogged down, perfect for rainy day luncheons! This is a nice entry level Thai restaurant if you do not have a lot of experience with Thai. The flavors are muted and accessible to the average palate. However, for those who love Thai, this will be an adequate but less than thrilling culinary experience. We had the spicy noodles. Nice consistency, but lacking in flavor. Needs more basil. More taste! The appetizers are okay, but not authentically Thai. The Penang curry is sweet and okay, but lacks taste and depth of flavor. I've been to this restaurant several times and it never dissapoints ! Service is great and the food is always fresh and delicious! For my recent visit, I ordered the cucumber salad, a shrimp tom yum soup and a pad thai. Everything was excellent, especially the soup! Can't remember the last time I had a tom yum that tasty. The cucumber salad was very light and refreshing. In previous visits, I have ordered the summer rolls and sweer soy noodles with chicken. They are awesome as well. I try to eat there at least 3 times a month, and I have to drive down from Flagler to get there. As far as the food I like everything on the menu. One of the worst experiences ever had in my life. They were way under staffed. Yes was day after Hurricane came through, but perhaps they shouldn't have opened. A poor untrained young man was answering phones and waiting on people. Place was not packed but slow as molasses. People walked out. Took forever to get adequate food, which was pricey. But seeing how I was rushed and literally given one minute to place my order and not even offered a refill on my drink,the waiter that I had had no personality at all. For the money I spent on this food it's a complete rip-off. Chef / Owner literally threw a glass of water in my face Let me most importantly start by saying that this is THE WORST thai food we have ever had. There's no other way to describe the food than flavorless. We're people that never complain when going out to eat - when our waiter comes by to ask us how everything is we always just look up and say everything is great. However at this restaurant, we tried the panang curry first and because it was absolutely flavorless we had to let our waiter know about this. He said he would tell the chef and have him come out to speak with us. The chef later comes by and we tried to be courteous by saying it was missing some flavor and also some spice, he looked very frustrated and walked off. We then tried the pad thai and same thing with this dish, it was completely flavorless. We love thai food and have been to many different places including probably everywhere else in the Ormond / Daytona area and have never had food that tasted so flavorless and bland. We told our waiter again that the food was flavorless and that we would like to go somewhere else. The waiter then said OK and that we could leave. We casually walk out of the restaurant and after getting in our car the chef who I believe is the owner comes out and throws a glass of water in my face and also gets water everywhere in the interior of our car. We actually called law enforcement since this was so outrageous. They spoke with us and the chef and stated that throwing a glass of water in someones face is considered Battery and the chef would have gone to jail if we had decided to press charges. Although I wanted to press charges since he threw a glass of water in my face and got everywhere in our car, we decided not to press charges because we realize this is a family owned business and I did not want someone going to jail for something like this. I'm so excited to have found this gem! I ordered the Basil & Chili Sautéed Veggies and was thoroughly delighted with my dish. The veggies were super fresh and wonderfully flavorful. The veggies included zucchini, carrots, baby bok choy, red bell pepper, broccoli, snow peas, string beans, bean sprouts, onions, and mushrooms...so amazingly delicious. Wow I cannot believe we in Ormond Beach have such a hidden treasure for Thai. I have lived in HUGE cities where Thai is ample (Washington D.C./ Miami to name a few). This is BETTER than any Thai food I have had elsewhere. Their Tom Kha is perfectly made - all flavors are great. So much depth and they definitely do not chimp on the ingredients inside the broth/coconut milk. The fried Tofu is amazing as well with their homemade peanut sauce for dipping. Also my favorite entree is their spicy noodles with chicken. I get 4 stars out of 5 for spicy and it is the perfect spice. It is not burn your mouth hot but a depth heat that truly makes this dish memorable. Last, they do not serve beer or wine but you can bring your own and they will serve you! Great local Thai!!! I was greeted by the friendly owner as I walked in to pick up my takeout order of Chicken Pad Thai. I told him I had found his restaurant on Yelp and he was very excited! The restaurant is very clean, with plenty of seating. It's in a shopping center, and kind of hard to see where it is at night, the lighting on the sign could be a little better but nonetheless, found! My chicken pad thai was absolutely delicious!
