Wanted some good seafood and decided on Hulls. This is a place I've always wanted to try. They have a seafood market and restaurant. It does get busy at times but there is valet parking which is a plus. There are indoor and outdoor options to dine. I ended up opting for inside seating. The place screams seafood with lots of mounted fish and fishing gear decor. There is a bar with tv to watch and lots of space. The service was good, our waiter was nice and attentive. I ended up getting a Drunken Sailor drink, an order of smoked fish dip, mini crab cake balls, and a fried flounder sandwich. The drunken sailor drink was good but it was definitely strong, hence the name. The smoked fish dip was okay. Tasted very fresh but very plain too, served with tortilla chips and pickled jalapenos. The mini crab cake balls were delicious. They were perfectly seasoned and full of crab meat. My favorite dish I tasted by far. The flounder sandwich was also cooked well and fresh but again lacking in flavor. Overall I was satisfied with the experience and would definitely go again. Had a good experience at the seafood restaurant. I was disappointed because I came for the blue crabs. They have a dozen on their menu for only $29.99, but unfortunately they were not in stock. But they did have everything else under the sea! The crab legs were outstanding... fresh and well seasoned. The sheepshead fish was fried to perfection. The blue crab soup was tasty and packed with crab meat. This is a very large restaurant with both indoor and out door seating. They also have a large, full bar with plenty of beer, wine and cocktail choices. A cosmopolitan is only $8 here. Kitchen area was very clean. Restaurant was quiet. The lady who seated me wasn't very friendly, but the servers were phenomenal. Kind, professional and knowledgeable about menu. I would definitely return... hoping for the crabs next time. My in-laws have brought me here twice already and both times the food was amazing. We ordered the gator bites and the pimento cheese wedges for appetizers and I ordered the blacktip shark dinner for my main dish. This was the first time I've eaten shark and I definitely would come here again for it. The provolone cheese wedges and gator bites were fried well and came out in a hearty serving. The service was attentive and friendly. The decor inside and outside was well thought out. I would recommend sitting outside if the weather isn't too hot. This place never seems to disappoints and tonight was no different. The only bad thing about sitting inside is the noise level. Inside on the bar it's covered in fishing polls like you would be sitting in the back of a boat. Tonight the service was pretty good even though he brought the wrong drink and forgot to put in the correct seasoning for the shrimp. Other than that he was good. Now to the food. Went with the parents while they stay at the beach. Dad got the lobster roll and it was packed full and he said it tasted really good. Mom got the rock shrimp, she is not big on spice so asked for light on the blackening seasoning and they barely put anything on it. Got take out from here during a recent week in ormond and it did not disappoint! There are some tables to dine in at if you aren't looking for anything fancy. But I like the take out option! We got a seafood boil, a dozen garlic crabs, peel and eat shrimp and some soup. Everything was very good. The dozen crabs were quite small which they did warn us about so I probably wouldn't get those again but overall everything was tasty! Love this place however the meals have been trending in the opposite direction of how good it used to be to be. Staff is always lovely and the atmosphere is fun. My husband and I have been wanting to try Hulls for awhile and decided to go. We were seated and shortly after our server greeted us. She took our drink order which was margaritas on the rocks with salt. She brought us waters and asked about appetizers which we didn't want. Our drinks still weren't brought out after 10 minutes but our server said they were working on them and asked what we would want. I ordered the fried shrimp basket with onion rings and my husband ordered clam chowder soup and the fish and chips basket with cod for the fish. It took between 15-20 for our drinks to be served. Unfortunately the drinks didn't taste like a margarita, neither my husband nor myself was a fan. The clam chowder was served to my husband and he said it was really good. Our baskets were served, my husband's fish and chips great, he gave me some of the cod to try and it was delicious. My shrimp on the other hand was awful, overcooked and dry. I couldn't eat it. That was so disappointing. The restaurant was very loud, seemed to echo but they do have TVs if you want to watch sports. We were expecting more from other guests reviews. We started with the "The Undecided " soup which was an interesting combo of New England Clam Chowder and a Spicy Fish Chowder" which was good. A dozen oysters was next and they were a good size too. One entree was the "Local Golden Tile" which is seasonal and came highly recommended by our server. The "Local Golden Tile" was just average and not something we would order again and the server didn't ask for our thoughts. We were seated in the back end by the server stand and the deafening sound of servers dumping dishes in the pan didn't make our experience any better. Parking is limited in the front and valet in the back so parking can be a challenge. Not sure we'll be back but based on the other reviews and if there's a spot to park out front, a quiter table to sit at, we may stop in again for another try. read more

Every time we visit ormand beach / Daytona area we got to Hulls fish market to get fresh snapper or grouper to cook at our condo. We were at happy hour at Kona's thinking about where to eat... I suggested Hulls. My husband didn't know they had a restaurant. I told him that is why it is always hard to get a parking spot... It isn't like all those people were buying raw fish we walk over and from the street entrance it looks like a dive. Turns out that is a pickup spot... Some of the most fresh sea food you'll ever find...they have their own fleet so some of what they serve was in the water hours before it was on your table. Ask about if they have anything that isn't on the menu yet...sometimes they'll have a catch they haven't advertised! The service is always knowledgeable, friendly and on it! Our waiter was great the first 10 min and then disappeared for a while - my husband was missing a spoon for his soup and waited so long and still no one to be found. He then asked two other waiters for a spoon and kept waiting, but by that time I finished my soup and gave him a spoon. My husband finished the soup and then our waiter came over with the spoon. Service could definitely improve. The spicy margaritas were overly sweet and watery, just tasted like diluted spicy honey water. Wouldn't recommended getting drinks here. Great seafood market. We stopped in after several people recommended it. They were very knowledgeable and made some suggestions about fish that we might enjoy. We picked a dozen large scallops to grill outside in a cast iron pan. We were quite happy with both the quality of the seafood as well as the price. The Scollops were great. Huge, in fact. If I remember correctly we ended up with about 8 each, which is going to be a lot more than you would get at a restaurant and our total bill was around $30. When you consider how big these were, hands down this was. a great meal. We plan to come back to their restaurant in the next day or so.... Here I am again on my second visit. I dropped by to pick up some large shrimp... I got a pound and a quarter. Again, if my memory is correct they were about $22. I walked to the restaurant part of the business and had them boiled with Bay Seasoning for $3. That took maybe 10 minutes. They gave me shrimp cocktail sauce and some sliced lemons... While we are discussing boiled shrimp... a while ago I was told that if you get boiled or steamed shrimp to go, you should open the container and let them cool a bit as you take them with you. Otherwise they will continue to cook. If you have a large serving, they will overcook as you drive home. Regardless, the shrimp were excellent. We had a great meal. Definitely, Hulls is on our list. We had a very solid and filling meal. Wife liked the clam chowder a lot. I enjoyed a crab-gumbo kind of soup. She added oysters which she said were very good, and I forget other dishes we had but we loved it all. Reasonable pricing, except I recall the beer was a bit pricey (seemed pricey almost everywhere in FL, for that matter!
