Loved this place. The food is always good with one exception today. Our red potatoes were served cold instead of hot. We like to melt our butter over them, but they were too cold for melting butter. We had the best waitress and loved how we were waited on and served. We got to the restaurant early and before the crowd came in for lunch. It was very nice and quiet. We were exploring the Ormond Beach area and stumbled across this hidden gem of a fish market and eatery. The entrance and parking are in the back (street parking can be a little tricky), but once you're in, you'll find a surprisingly spacious and casual spot with a great vibe. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and very reasonably priced. We tried a couple of baskets and the Miss Shells oysters, which were especially delicious. Excellent seafood, I always chose lobster rolls when I go. They are the best ones I have had in the area. My husband had scallops which were delicious, cooked just right. Service was great. But you go for the food, it is just a big room, which makes it loud. Nothing fancy, but it is clean with a nice bar. Parking is terrible, even with valet, because it's so small. read more

My first time I went into the market decided to buy the local shrimp within 40 minutes after eating it. I got the worst headache on earth. I've had it all day. I'm curious what additives they are putting into the shrimp if any. Won't be getting the shrimp again for sure I've never had this happen to me for eating shrimp. Today I give them a three star rating and only because the food was good as usual however the service was very bad. We were told it was the kitchens fault but my son who operates a chain of restaurants in Savannah and is a CIA Culinary Institute of America four year graduate among his credits, Anyways he addressed the issue with management who once again deferred the problem to the kitchen yet the simplest request of crackers upon sitting down for the kids to stay quiet took multiple request before getting them. A bowl of clam chowder that should've been served before the meal was served with the meal so it was sent back and they were told to remove it from the bill upon receiving your bill. It was still there. You can't blame that on the Kitchen the order was supposed to come out with macaroni and cheese. It did not and never did come out of the party. Half the table was served first, but the party of the table that ordered steamed shrimp. It did not come out for another 20 minutes and then the types of sauces that were requested did not come out and those had to be asked for another two times My son who identified who was was who was trying to give feedback seeing if customers don't speak up you don't know what to fix was basically blown off by the server and manager. Several cardinal rules were broken on this visit with a couple being the customer is alway right and never serve half a table and then the other half 20 minutes later In closing Hulls has lost a long time regular customer who always praised the food but if you can't get proper service then there's no reason to return. read more

I have celiac disease and I am extremely allergic to gluten. I have eaten at Hulls for years and never had an issue. I recently ordered a takeout of blackened cod minus the hush puppies. I talked to the employee about being care and needing gluten free. I got so, so sick. We had to pull over on interstate 4 so I could throw up. I barely made it to my hotel in Orlando, and then I was sick for the night! I understand that sometimes cross contamination can occur but when I called the next day and spoke to a manager, he reviewed what I ordered and said it was all gluten free. I told him I was not out to condemn the employee, and I did not believe it was done intentionally. But, I felt that one he should've apologized, and two he should've said he would speak to the employees about being more careful about cross-contamination. He just told me next time I come in to speak to a manager so they can be careful and put it on a separate broiling platter. I have to say I was disappointed because normally their fish is delicious and I love this place. I don't know if I can ever eat there again. My goal in calling was to make sure that he impressed upon the staff to be careful and I wouldn't want anyone else to get as sick as I did, it ranked among one of the worst sicknesses I have had with getting gluten by accident. read more

This is a restaurant and market. The restaurant has plenty of seating. Had the smoked fish dip, clam chowder and blackened mahi sandwich. Everything is incredibly fresh. Smoked fished dip was flavorful and good consistency. The clam chowder had lots of fresh clams but could be a bit more flavorful--I'd still recommend though. The mahi sandwich was a good portion and heavily seasoned but the bun was very run of the mill. Staff was friendly and service was quick. read more

My small salad was served as a side salad and instead of balsamic vinaigrette, they gave me soy sauce, to which I poured all over my tiny salad before tasting. Additionally, we ordered the Mahi sandwich - my husband said it was great but my piece of it was dry and over cooked. The waitress noticed my salad was not the correct size and my husband told her about the soy sauce. Thanks to our waitress, she really made this a great lunch for us but I'm sorely disappointed in the kitchen. Would I come back? Probably not. While this is a typical tourist spot, it still holds up. We visited three times during our trip to Ormond this year. They offer a wide variety of seafood on their menu. I would recommend the peel and eat steamed shrimp southern style. Make sure to get some hushpuppies, they are slightly sweet with a cornmeal base. Also if you have a sweet tooth, try the blue berry hushpuppies for dessert. The wait can be an hour plus so plan ahead! If you can select a seat, I would sit in the front room; it's much quieter. But the bar is also a great spot if you can find a couple empty stools. read more

Great service and even better food. Simple menu one for kids and one for adults. They even provided a bowl of water for my dog as we were seated outdoors. The food was fresh and hot it was very delicious. The restaurant was very comfortable with lots of outside shade and ceiling fans. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the venue. I ordered the Cajun seafood boil with about 1.5lb of peel and eat shrimp and it came loaded with sausage, two pieces of corn on the cob, and plenty of red potatoes. The lady had the blackened red snapper with French fries and the kids had the crab cake meal with French fries, hush puppies. Service was on point and we were able to really enjoy ourselves and the meal knowing our dog was good under the table with his water bowl. We were looking for a pet friendly place and happened to notice another review that said the place was pet friendly, otherwise it would have been fast food in the car and this place was a way better option. My first time visiting this location was amazing! This visit, not so much. The food portions are about half of what they use to serve and prices have raised slightly. I understand the current state of our country has caused this. Also there's a $1 surcharge to substitute sides that are the same price - fries, coleslaw, etc. service was amazing!! Food was just ok. I ordered the golden tile fish. It was bland and a very small portion for about $18. I had to pay to have fries with my sandwich instead of coleslaw. We had been to Hull's almost a year ago and somehow never got back (with the exception of buying fresh seafood to grill; they will also steam shrimp for you FYI!) and finally went again for lunch today. Since it's red snapper season hubs and I both got the fresh red snapper (we had it blackened, Aldo available grilled or fried) and it was SO delicious! Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked! I started with a house salad - fine but nothing remarkable. Hubs had clam chowder and really enjoyed it! Entrees come with hushpuppies - they were a tad too heavy on the grease for our taste; Sides of potatoes and black beans were good. We went on a busy night even with reservations we waited a little while. It was worth it as the food was excellent. The waiters and waitresses shared the duty of taking care of us which was a great service to have. The food was spectacular. We shared roasted brussel sprouts with onion jam - all I can say was wonderful and flavorful. The beef medallions were cook well and the lobster and scalloped were perfect. Went in with a party of 8, 4 of the meals were not eatable and the meal was still close to $300.00. I am a local and refuse to go back. It's not the same as it once was. Hull's has the very best hush puppies anywhere, perfectly browned with bits of sweet red pepper and corn inside. I had broiled scallops with slaw and squash, the squash was nicely seasoned and the slaw was coarse cut and tasty. Hubby had fried oysters with red potatoes and black beans. The oysters were large and perfectly crispy, from the Chesapeake. Service was adequate. We sat outside on the large patio, fans and misters kept it fairly comfortable. We usually have the Chesapeake Bay Oysters. Tried the Pemaquid: life changing. Never eaten a raw oyster without a cracker. A cracker overpowers the Pemaquid's delicate and mild flavor.
