Most interesting place. It all depends on what you are looking for regarding seafood. If you want fancy schmancy, this is not for you. If you want straight up crabs and shrimp in a big box for a great price, this is all you!! Take out joint. Friendly and efficient staff. $70-$80 will easily feed three to four people. Food is messy but good. You're gonna need a hammer or something to break the shells if you're on vacation. A roll of paper towels and a few beers will get you a very authentic beach seafood experience. I will be back next time I'm in town for sure!! read more

What a find! It was the 1st of January and after a morning of water activities, my wife and I were looking for seafood options for us and her brother and sister in law for lunch. We were all staying in a condo in Daytona Beach and wanted some place close for take out so we can eat our lunch by the pool. After realizing we aren't allowed to bring beer bottles by the pool, we just decided to eat inside the condo. Fresh Box had great reviews so I called them. I was told they didn't have blue crabs. What sounded like a Korean lady answered and I ordered two boxes with 1 lb of shrimp, 1/2 lb of snow crab legs, sausage, potatoes and corn in each box. I was told it'll be about 20 minutes. When my wife and I got there to pick up our order, only 1 box was ready. I inquired about a second box since I ordered two and lady insisted I only ordered one. Clearly there was some language disconnect. In any case, they said they can make another one. I paid for both boxes and we were told to wait outside (apparently nobody is allowed to wait inside and they even have a sign by the door saying so - what if it's raining hard outside?). Upon getting our two boxes, we made it back to the condo and they were still steaming hot. Everything in that aluminum tray was bursting with flavors, swimming in butter and Old Bay seasoning! Good thing there was a nut cracker in the condo which we used to crack the crab legs. I didn't order any hard boiled eggs but I guess they added that for the ordering miscue. The portions were quite generous as we couldn't finish it all and had some later that night for a "light" dinner. We were very pleased with Fresh Box. For value and flavors, you can't beat this place. Our yummy lunch (and dinner) came out to just over $54...or just over $27 per box/tray and fed 2 people (and then some) per tray. read more

Yummy blue crabs! The place is small, but the food is pretty tasty. I don't like the fact that customers are asked to wait outside for their orders but there is seating inside. If they were at a table, I'd get it's for dine in, but not all are. There's also lots of disorganization with orders. You're given a time the order is ready, approach the check-in area and find out the order hasn't even been processed. Exterior area needs improvement, also. I try to give restaurants the benefit of a doubt that they follow instructions when special requests are made. It is important to check your food before leaving if you requested something special. The potatoes and corn were great as well as the price but, as a lover of snow crab, this was not very good. They had some of the driest crab I've ever tasted. Absolutely blown away by this place! I'm a massive food lover, so before my husband and I even got married, I immediately researched places i wanted to try. Fresh Box was one of them, and I'm so glad we decided to try it. Both of us got the shrimp platter and when I tell you, it is a PLATTER, I mean it. You get a pound of shrimp (you gotta peel them yourselves), a pound of potatoes, and a couple pieces of corn on the cob. For 15 bucks?? A steal. Everything comes drowning in butter and old bay and my lord it is a delicious, messy, incredible experience. I ended up using what we didn't eat initially in this amazing egg hash and WOW. It probably be frozen for several months and the shell and meat are not as regular crawfish anymore, they are very soft! 1/3 of them smell like spoiled. This place has the best price to quality seafood boil boxes! Ended up getting the $15.99 crab box everyday while in Daytona and got another box before going back to Orlando. Their crab is good quality, potatoes are absolutely amazing! They even remove the shells on the blue crabs without any extra charge. When picking up the food, the jumbo shrimp didn't seem that much bigger than the large so next time would check out their batch that day or just get the large. The only thing that wasn't the best was the corn, too soggy and over cooked. Otherwise everything else was great and they even gave us more female crabs when we asked. When I received the food I noticed that the portion sizes were pretty good for one person, although I shared it with someone. Upon eating the shrimp I noticed that the poop sac was still intact which made me not want to even finish it, i also noticed that the food wasn't made fresh because I was in the store and kept hearing microwave beeps. In my opinion, the food was subpar and honestly, I wouldn't go back. Go another couple of miles down the road and eat at another sea food place thats better bang for your buck.
