Crabby's Oceanside in Daytona was a great choice for our bus group, with arrangements made in advance with the help of the assistant general manager who provided suggestions for a menu that would fit the needs of the group. All staff were welcoming, courteous, and flexible in meeting the various needs a large group will have. The food was excellent, especially the Coconut Shrimp, which comes with a very tasty mango salsa and pina colada sauce. We have been in Daytona for a full week and eaten seafood every night. This restaurant had the best view, by far! We sat on the very large deck right next to the ocean and enjoyed the beeeze/wind. I love outdoor dining so I was happy as a clam. The food was good. I got the stuffed flounder and it was packed with crab. Very yummy. The service was great. Took a quick trip down to Daytona Beach with high hopes for fresh coastal seafood, and while the evening had its share of wild swings, management ultimately stepped up in a big way. ​We grabbed a table outside right next to the ocean. Even with the steamy Florida heat, the patio was well-shaded and comfortable, and the restaurant was spotless throughout. ​Service started on rocky footing. Things were taking quite a while and our waitress seemed off-kilter, but she soon came over to sincerely apologize and explained she was dealing with a sudden family emergency while trying to finish out her tables. We told her to go take care of business--we completely understood, and family always comes first. ​Things picked up once the drinks arrived. I ordered the signature Florida Sunset--essentially a boozy adult Snoopy snow cone packed with different liquors--and it hit the spot enough that I gladly ordered a second round. ​From there, the food was a tale of two meals: ​Grouper Nuggets: We were brought the wrong appetizer initially. Once the right plate arrived, the nuggets were decent, but fairly underwhelming for fresh coastal catch. ​Hogfish Imperial: This was supposed to be the highlight of the night. Instead of high-end snapper perfection, this "imperial" was a court jester--paper-thin, barely recognizable fish buried under a watery goo passing for lump crab. The sides didn't fare much better: the russet mash tasted straight out of a bad school cafeteria, and the "crispy" Brussels sprouts could have been swapped for rocks with how tough they were. ​Acknowledging the rough start and the entrée miss, management comped the Hogfish and replaced it with the Blackened Grouper, coconut rice, and French fries. This plate was a night-and-day improvement: the coconut rice was packed with flavor, the fries were hot and crispy, and while the grouper was a touch heavy on seasoning, their signature lime tartar sauce cut through it nicely. ​Between the genuine apologies and applying a friends-and-family discount to the bill, the staff proved they actually care about their guests walking away happy. Cute spot right on the water! Staff were friendly and attentive -- we got seated on the outdoor patio facing the water with our dog, and they even brought him a water bowl and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. Heads up if you're visiting on a hot day: the patio only has umbrellas, no fans or misters, so it can get pretty warm when there's no breeze. Portions are huge! Sides were good overall -- the elote corn side was very creamy though, almost too rich, so I could only eat it in small amounts. The salad was very basic, nothing special. As someone eating gluten free, I appreciated having real options, but be prepared to pay more -- the fully gluten-free items (not cross-contaminated, fried, or topped with something that isn't GF) came at a premium. Food itself was average, and prices were fairly typical for a beachside spot. Overall a cute, dog-friendly place with great service and generous portions -- just manage your expectations on food and be ready to pay a bit extra for true GF options. read more

Lucky we were able to get a spot last month during the 4th of July as there is quite a bit of a wait for over 15 minutes. The seafood platter which included crab cakes, special oysters with cheese and sides was delicious. The Cruzan Rum house drink with cherry on top was excellent. Bonus tip: You can refill it with the cup on each visit for only $8 bucks. Shoutout to the staff for being so accomodating as it really was a busy time as customers were all securing a spot before the fireworks began. 4 1/2 Stars easy!!! Crabby's - We Kept Coming Back! Crabby's was one of those places we enjoyed so much that we went back several times during our stay in Daytona Beach. There is plenty of seating, and you can choose exactly the atmosphere you want--inside in the air conditioning, at the outdoor bar, or outside in the dining area. The restaurant is clean and tidy, and the staff is friendly, attentive, and really knows the menu. They were happy to accommodate requests, the espresso martinis were excellent, the beer was ice cold, and the service was consistently great. And the food! Everything we tried was cooked perfectly, beautifully presented, and so tasty. You can tell they take pride in what comes out of the kitchen. Even the lobby is fun to browse, with probably 20 different T-shirts to choose from, all reasonably priced, along with coffee mugs and other souvenirs. Overall, just a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I can't wait until we come back to Daytona Beach because Crabby's will absolutely be on our list again! read more

I'm from Arizona, so we don't exactly have the best seafood over there lol, but this place definitely exceeded my expectations. Our server was amazing too! On a Friday happy hour is until 7pm, which includes a variety of well drinks and beers. The staff are professional and friendly. Our bartender was thoughtful to make our day special despite how busy the whole place was. We worked on sharing a variety of shrimp dishes and enjoyed people watching at the beach. The food was absolutely delicious as we attempted to choose which shrimp was our favorite, while sipping on our drinks. I recommend getting dessert to top off your dinner choices. We have historically come to Crabby's every year while on vacation. In the past it has been one of the dining highlights of our trips. The Old Bay seasoning on the crab is excellent. And the view of the beach from the deck is something you can't get at most other restaurants. This year, though, our experience at Crabby's was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time- anywhere. The biggest takeaway is this: if your meal starts going off the rails, don't assume it will get better by being patient and polite. Ours certainly didn't. Our table of seven was there for over two hours, and the problems just kept piling up. A guest was enthusiastically told they could substitute grouper in a combo meal, only to be told later that they couldn't. Another guest ordered the lobster, only to be told later that the restaurant was all out. That would've been OK- restaurants often run out of fresh seafood, it happens. But watching other tables get lobster afterward was off-putting. If that was all that happened, I'd say we were living charmed lives. But the hits kept on coming... Two different guests' cocktails tasted like they contained no alcohol whatsoever. One of those two had to send their drink back twice and eventually just ordered something else entirely. Stick to bottled beer, folks. One guest never received their salad, another received the wrong side, and one of the children's meals didn't arrive until the adults were already well into their meals. Isn't it common knowledge in the restaurant world that you always serve the kids first? One guest told the server that onions make them sick and specifically asked the server to "treat it as an allergy." Despite that, onions appeared *three* times: on their salad, on their first steak, and then again on the replacement steak. That's the kind of mistake that should never happen. If you have a serious allergy, I wouldn't trust Crabby's to honour your allergy request. One guest ordered a medium rare filet, but it arrived well done. They sent it back, and the replacement steak also came out well done. The expediter insisted that the guest cut into the second steak immediately. Ok, that's not unusual. But his tone wasn't "we want to make sure we got it right." It was "I don't trust you not to eat half of it before sending it back again." I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea to treat your guest like that. A restaurant is a *hospitality* business, not a *hostility* business. The pièce de résistance was what happened next: the server, Dan, made a special trip to the table to tell the guest, "We probed that steak, and it registered medium." Apparently arguing with the guest was a better solution than acknowledging the obvious problem. If the overcooked steak had been the only issue with the meal, that comment would have been unwelcome. But after the litany of problems, it was downright insulting. That, and the fact that a manager never visited our table to apologise or try to make things right. Not once. Every restaurant has an off night. It's just part of the business. And most restaurants could have recovered from these issues with a better service mindset and proactive management intervention. Our experience wasn't ruined by a bad drink or a bad steak. It was ruined by a comprehensive failure to recover from one mistake after another, capped off with a direct insult. Crabby's entire staff effectively told us to f*** off and never come back. We'll do just that. read more

We wanted to eat like a king and queen tonight and that's EXACTLY what we did. Our server, Lynn, was EXCELLENT (please make sure she is acknowledged for her great customer service and up charging). We started off with not one but TWO appetizers. The alligator bites and coconut lobster bites. For our entrees I had a house salad with ranch dressing and the key west grilled entree with vegetables and he got th New York strip with coconut rice and mac and cheese. Don't ask he just wanted it. Now let me tell you something important -- we have a tradition of trying calamari everywhere we go. We've lived in Florida for 7 years... and this was hands down the BEST calamari I've had in those 7 years. Crispy, fresh, and seasoned to perfection. Our waiter was attentive, kind, and constantly checking in to make sure we were happy and taken care of, which made the experience even better. My favorite of all the beach bar/restaurants in the area. I usually come here once a month but more during the spring and summer months and sit outside at the bar. We almost always get the same thing so I can't speak to many of the menu items. Their peal and eat shrimp are Royal Reds and are my favorite. Compared to many of the other local restaurants that serve frozen cheap shrimp imported from Asia which is insane considering we are on the coast. My favorite entree item is the grouper tacos but blackened (come as battered and fried I believe. Service is usually great but there have been times where there were bar staffing issues leaving the outside bar to serve there and the restaurant but they usually can overcome. Other items I recommend include the fish dip app, Bairdi crab, mac n cheese as well as the cheese grits sides. read more

I will say the young girls who greet and take you to a table need a bit of polishing.. and patience. The calamari was some of the best we ever had but the conch fritters left a lot to be desired. Terrible experience. Came tonight and got lucky with bar seating. I truly don't know how or why this place has an 1hr + wait. Sat at outside bar. 4-5 bartenders working. Took 10 mins to be acknowledged by any of them and order a drink. I got the chubby mermaid and it was awful. We finally get the menu and aren't expecting anything over the top, we got the fish and chips and the coconut shrimp entrees. The fish and chips (husbands order) was inedible and he tried one bite and pushed it away. The fish was falling out of the batter and mushy. Ketchup on bar was rotten and foul tasting. Coconut shrimp was okay, but it came with a side salad that I watch sit at the bar for 30 minutes and the bartender tried to serve it to me at the very end when I asked for the check. I couldn't get their attention to let them know the fish and chips was disgusting or order another drinks. Went Nextdoor to land shark and had much better service. Will not come back.
