This restaurant is known by the locals and fills up at peak times. The menu offers lots of choices from bar food to seafood to kid fare. A lot of it fried but not everything and you can find a way to eat healthy. The servers are solid and friendly and make the place welcoming. The place is dated looking a bit rustic and worn but has a full bar and beach casual vibe. Food is ample fairly priced and tasty enough to revisit almost every year I vacation nearby.

We flew in on a Monday night and got to our hotel about 8, I checked in and right away asked where to go for dinner as we were all so ready to just sit and eat! The hotel desk attendant recommended Charlie Horse restaurant. SO glad we took that recommendation. We were hurrying as they closed at 9 and wanted to be respectful of that. We were greeted with a smile right upon entering and server came over right away to get drinks. We all ordered meals such as a chicken dish, and grilled and coconut shrimp, then I had to add on the crab leg appetizer-which was the star of the meal. They were amazing AND reasonably priced. Our server was so nice and took extra time to help us learn to crack them. This place is a win, definitely give it a try if you're in the area. We can't wait to go back!

This restaurant was recommended by our check in service at the Coral Sands Hotel. I'm glad we listened! Our food was delicious and the restaurant is very laid back. The service was excellent. Our food came out hot and it was perfect. My husband and I both got the fish fry special with grilled shrimp added. If you're looking for a great meal, come check out Charlie Horse.

After spending a couple of hours getting stuck in the sand at a beach less than a half mile away, we were a bit peckish, so we decided to visit Charlie Horse for something satisfying. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, but filled up quickly. Our waitress was on point, attentive and friendly. We were vacationing with Jeremy's family, who are not from Maryland. They ordered: Bite Size Maryland Style Crab Cakes (Bite-sized crab cakes made with real crab meat. Served with our signature dipping sauce). Jeremy and I cringed. If there's one thing you learn living in Baltimore, crab cakes outside our state never ever measure up. Jeremy and I shared the Captain Brian's Seafood Sampler (1/2 lb. steamed shrimp, snow crab cluster, and a grilled fish filet.) Jeremy was utterly delighted by the fish. We struggled a bit with the snow crab. It kept shredding when we tried to remove the meat from the shell. The shrimp were perfect. I think these hush puppies are amongst the best I have ever tasted, which made up for the lackluster crab bisque. Even with added salt and pepper, it didn't have much flavor. We also had cocktails. Jeremy had the Berry Martini (Absolut Raspberri, triple sec, strawberry puree and cranberry juice) which he loved. I had something called The Captains Vacation, which I cannot find on the online menu to give you a proper description. It was rum heavy and did the job. The family ordered a bunch of other stuff, but I sometimes feel weird asking people what they thought of their meal. I saw all empty plates, so I think it must have been an enjoyable meal for everyone.

Ouch, my leg! I don't know if I understand the name, or one review which calls this an "upscale diner" (it's not), but it's your run-of-the-mill American restaurant with a variety of options. It's right across from the Ormond Beach parking lot for the beach, so it's a good spot to grab a quick bite before you head to the ocean. I was with my dad and my cousin and they both got salads which were fresh and delicious according to them. The Shrimp on the Caesar salad were Huge. Tiny Elvis would have been in awe over and over and over again. (RIP Rob Schneider). I had the Fish Fry which was 11 Bucks on Friday and wow, the fish was so lightly breaded and moist. The fries were hot and thin and salty, like a shipwrecked pirate. The Hush Puppies were Meh, but I think that of all Hush Puppies (sorry big eared dogs). Service was excellent too. The awesome server saw I was running low on Tartar Sauce and suggested she brings me a 3rd cup! Yaaaaaassss... I didn't have to ask! Wowza! I slathered on my fish and fries (or chips for you brits reading along). We were in and out an under an hour at 11a-ish on a Friday, and had plenty of time to enjoy the beach.

We had the Friday Fish Special , you get a large order of fish with fries and two small hush puppies, it was delicious. 10/17/25

My husband had their top selling sour & sampled their watermelon Kölsch. Both were very good. We started with their bbq egg rolls which was the draw to get us here. They didn't disappoint!! There was a special on their wings, which was $1.25 a wing no matter the count! We added those and got 6 to split. They were a little too over done, crispy & dry, they were just ok. Main meal; we decided to split the Triple B which came with two sides. We chose the deviled egg salad, baked beans & got some green beans too! Green beans were the best of the three. Everyone just seems so happy here so you can tell that it really enjoy their jobs which makes a huge difference. We started off with the coconut shrimp and had like this coconut mayo dipping sauce was different, but it was really good, but I felt like it needed like a sweet-and-sour sauce then I had the mahi tacos with just the rice no black beans definitely still as good as the last time I tried it my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken pizza gluten-free and he ate the entire thing so that just tells you right off the bat that it was good and to finish off our dinners we ended with Keylime pie. I want to preface this by saying we went on a very cold day and ate indoors..the pizza was outstanding and the waiter was friendly and engaging..in other words, typical for our experiences there. Prior to this, we even brought friends who hadn't been there before and loved it...now, to our recent experience: We were seated and the waitress seemed as though she wasn't very familiar with the menu and had to check on our requests, each check took a disturbingly long time. When we brought our friends, my gal ordered a hamburger and I asked the waitress if she could have the wagyu, rather than the angus burger, she readily said yes and my gal marveled over the burger...fast forward to the last experience, the waitress said she'd have to order the wagyu as posted and it "wasn't available" as a stand alone order. So my gal settled for the angus burger and again, the wait was a bit long and as we were considering to leave, the waitress showed up, gave us our food and left. the onion rings were cold...literally...they had been out so long that they weren't even warm (our prior experiences the onion rings arrived hot and delicious). Again we waited for our waitress to return and my gal had to ask another waitress if she could get us some hot onion rings. That waitress noted the cold onion rings and brought them back to the kitchen to prove we weren't being unreasonable, which was a greatly appreciated gesture on her part. Very promptly, the "other" waitress brought our onion rings, apologizing profusely...we thanked her and when my gal started into her Caesar salad, it was inedible....soggy, nearly tasteless and resembling a hot spinach salad with soggy lettuce than a crisp Caesar salad....the upside, the second batch of onion rings were up to their usual excellent standard, the burger was good, but not the intensity of flavor their wagyu burger had. If we hadn't been semi-regulars, it is a near certainty we wouldn't go back, but we aren't going to let a single experience unravel years of good experiences.

We had to walk by it to get over to the retail store, which is in a huge yard behind it. Yard itself has all kinds of concessions in it, all of which were shut. Only exception, you ask? Why it's the IHS retail outlet, of course! Walk into the joint and its wall to wall T-shirts, jackets, hoodies and other apparel. Beyond that, there are branded accessories and souvenirs in all kinds of categories. One side note: the store is also an impromptu shrine to our newly elected POTUS. The lady at the register, who seemed to be alone in the store, was busy folding shirts but still friendly and helpful at the same time. She was able to answer the Queen Bee's queries and helped her find the way around. One small note is they even have commemorative IHS whisky bottles of both Gentleman Jack, Wolford Reserve as well as other kinds of hooch on one particular table near center of store. While the bottles were quite lovely and tasteful (damn: I didn't snap a photo), I didn't get one for two reasons... 1. I ain't paying $50+ for a $35 bottle of bourbon 2. I ain't livin' down stink eye from the Queen Bee That said, we had to pass through saloon itself to get back to car parking lot. We didn't bother stopping for a cold one and shoot pool, darts or Jack. There were plenty of biker dudes to keep 'em fairly busy for an early weekday afternoon as it was. They seem to have a basic menu of bar food in there also, but I had no desire to stay. Queen Bee got what she wanted, and I became a supportive spouse for the day! I'm sure that anyone reading this should know that once Bike Week, Race Week and all that stuff get closer, this place will get exponentially more crowded. I'm also sure that anyone reading this should realize that this place caters to bikers/riders, particularly Harley ones. Signs all over the place warn patrons to keep out their attitudes, animals and gang patches. At the same time, they are quite accepting of the mostly regular people who just happen to ride. So if you're one of those folks, this lil watering hole slash sub/cultural icon, then there ya go. Mix and mingle with all sorts of fellow hobbyists from doctors, to plumbers, executives and lawyers to teamsters, carpenters and sawyers.

Honestly, there is not a lot going on this part of Ormond unless there is a big bike event; however, Iron Horse is open year-round. The steak tips with mushrooms and mashed potatoes are the bomb, especially with a little hot sauce and salt/pepper, but be prepared to get messy because it is served in a tiny Dixie paper boat that can barely hold the serving. The pork chop sandwich on white bread is a winner, the slab of baloney on the baloney sandwich is thick! and gyros are delicious even though they are not cut from a rotisserie. All of the food out here is pretty damn good and is always cooked fresh; especially during events, since there is always a line. The bands that play here are not always my first choice, but they do have a great lineup every now and then. Drinks are reasonable and if you get to know the bartenders, they might hook you up If you are here during Bike Week or Biketoberfest, definitely stop to say hi to Diana, you can't miss her, she is the gorgeous lady working the bar at the entrance. Also check out the actual Iron Horse bar that is open year-round; it is small, divey, and unique, but they serve a stiff drink. Iron Horse has a great selection of tee's, vests, jackets, and other riding gear available for purchase at their onsite store. During large bike events there are at least 20 vendors on site selling boots, eye protection, knives/pepper spray, installing LED lighting, and repairing upholstery. Iron Horse host several competitions, like their Bikini contest, the baddest bagger contest, the burn-out contest, and more, which enhances the overall Biker experience. During Motorcycle events, lot parking is only for motorcycles, parking is free, but if you cannot ride in loose dirt, don't go down there otherwise you could get stuck. Fortunately, I have no problem managing the terrain; however, I have seen other riders, blow out their cooling system, get stuck, or topple over sometimes two-up on full dressers, ouch! Staff also parks riders like sardines, so there is very little room to navigate out of kickstand position. FYI - there is a ton of other free and paid parking in the area if you prefer to park and ride on more stable ground. All-in-all, Iron Horse Saloon is awesome place to go during big bike events, but just a good place to visit during down season. Regardless, I highly recommend stopping in to check them out.
