Giving 3 stars not because it was bad, but because it was just okay. The atmosphere is fun and energetic, and our main server was great with our kids. However, a few details dragged down the experience. The kids' high chair needed a deep clean (it had cobwebs), and the bus staff felt a bit indifferent. On the food side, the clam chowder crackers were stale, and the rice in the fish rice bowl was undercooked and under-seasoned. Stopped here on our way to st augustine. I first want to say that our bartender was amazing. She was so friendly and welcoming. I ordered the fish tacos. It was triggerfish with blackened seasoning, cheese, lettuce, Pico, and Sriracha sauce. I loved them. If I had a slight complaint, it would be better with cabbage and not lettuce, however still really good. Atmosphere was beautiful. Awesome change of pace! Our 1st time to dine here. Our server was Chuck. We both ordered the fish sandwich (couple behind us recommended it and they dine here frequently) garlic seared and blackened. The sandwich's were amazing. We had jalapeño poppers as appetizers with raspberry sauce, sides of fries and mac and cheese with our sandwiches. All the food was delicious but the service rocked! 1st off no indoor seating so we were fortunate, there was a nice breeze blowing on a relatively mild summer day. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. 15 oysters arrived on the platter. But something was off with these oysters, by the look of them as if they had been sitting out for some time. The waiter agreed and removed them from the table and the bill. We orderedd a cup of clam chowder , which had a heavy dose of potatoes in them. The waiter described the fish as triple tail and another local fish that we have never heard of so we thought we'd give them a try. 2 dinners, 1 beer, 1 bowl of soup and a tip ran close to $100. One and done for us. This place has been on our list to try for a while now so mission accomplished. This place used to be the spot before the hurricane and then the renovations. We were turned away because it was raining and they told us that they could not seat us while it was storming. Open tables with people eating inside, but as long as the storm was happening, they couldn't seat new customers. I don't know how you stay in business on the coast when you can't take new customers when it's raining! We had such fond memories of this place, but the last two visits have been horrendous! Fantastic!! The wait was about 45 minutes, but in all fairness, we had 12 people. Bartenders were on point. Food came out hot, and was really tasty. I do recommend this place if you're looking for an old Florida seafood restaurant on the water. The menu isn't extensive and nothing is fancy by any means but it's a local hangout with a marina attached to it. So this was an interesting experience not because of them but because of our child. We were trying this place for my birthday. We were so excited to try it. We ordered drinks and apps. That's when our son lost his cottonpicken mind. We tried to console him to no avail and the servers were super kind. I asked our server to please pack our apps to go, inhaled my drink and left. My family and I have been going to boondocks for years. I went a few days ago and the face of their business was awful. 4 younger girls NOT doing their job. When they finally acknowledged that we were waiting to be sat it was downhill from there. 3/4 girls sat at one table and talked poorly about their customers. Granted, it happens, but not in ear range of your customers. Calling someone a b!tch isn't really the best way to represent the business. The food was a mix. 5* French fries were excellent. Nice and crispy but not burnt. 3.5* Seafood platter the shrimp was excellent as was the fish. The calamari was good. The oysters were ok. The clams were strips that I think were previously frozen and not very good. It was a hot day but their seating area is shaded and there's a breeze off the water. The cocktail prices weren't bad at all, the craft beer was a bit expensive ($7.50). Our table ordered coconut shrimp, clams in the garlic and white wine sauce, steamed shrimp and chicken Alfredo. Everyone enjoyed their food and the orange marmalade with the coconut shrimp was incredible. The service was great; all the servers were your server so you never had to wait long for one to stop by. We drove about 30 minutes from Seaside to check out Boondocks in a group of 12 after falling victim to roadside billboard advertising. It wasn't my choice and, in all honesty, I expected it to be commercial, overpriced, and sub-standard. I can say humbly that I was wrong on at least 2 of those 3 adjectives (I suppose it was a bit commercial, since it had a gift shop and merch). The place, which has served the community since the 1990s according to some of the posted newspaper clippings, is casual and beachy in nature with an enormous multi-building seating plan and a nice view of the boats docked in the Halifax River. The service was awesome, and our waitress managed our large and occasionally demanding group with ease and charm. The menu is decidedly American with sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc., with an emphasis on seafood and fried stuff. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have raw oysters on offer. The Fried Seafood Combo called my name and I'm glad I listened. The shrimp and oysters were wonderful: not too greasy or overcooked, plus really nicely salted with some zesty Cajun vibes. The clam strips were just OK and I couldn't taste too much outside of salty batter. I should've gone with fried scallops! My fried okra was chewy and fine, but the green beans were actually quite good with a smoky bacon-infused flavor. The quantity was respectable, and I actually took some home so as not to overdose on saturated fat. Boondocks won't necessarily wow you from a culinary perspective, but it will exceed your expectations and makes for a really pleasant family meal. I can't say that I would drive out of my way to dine here, but you probably won't find a better road trip stop or local bite to eat if you're in the area. read more

Next we tried the Mahi tacos (12.99) comes with 2 tacos, pico and slaw that were very flavorful. We added a side of fries that were basic. Last, we had the key lime pie.
