I went for lunch and ordered a General T'sao Lunch, and it was HORRIBLE! it looked like a prepackaged MRI with a separate sauce which in no way resembled the spicy General Tsoao im used to. Man who knew a delicious and CLEAN up north style Chinese take out not to mention Drive thru! Recommend ordering ahead and parking lot is quite small with a a couple of outside seating tables with umbrellas. I ordered the chicken and vegetables and I guess I am not used to ordering this here and it not coming tossed in ANY kind of brown sauce and I was a little shocked and frightened when I opened my togo. I got a nice surprise since there was some kind of flavor to the chicken and veggies. They have the best spring rolls (shrimp inside) and I always have to get one on the side. Pork fried rice had no pork bits and barely any flavor but it wasn't as bad as mall fried rice and I usually prefer white rice, I switched it up a bit here. I passed by this place a hundred times over the years during my annual summer visit to Ormond Beach. This year, I finally ordered carry-out (there is no inside dining), and I was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp cashew dish is my go-to at any Chinese restaurant, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious. There was absolutely no chicken in my dinner and a few baby shrimp. I also ordered won ton soup and there wasn't any meat in the soup either. Came here the other week with my boyfriend because drive thru chinese sounded pretty cool. I'm not sure how the drive thru works out because we waited 20 minutes for our food and there was a line behind us. It would be better to go inside and order. I got the general tso's chicken, which i think was pretty good. He got the chow mein and he hated it. The food here doesn't taste like a regular chinese takeout place, they have their own flavors. We LOVE this place! We stop here once a week or so. There is no inside seating, it is just a drive thru and a walk up pick up window. The exterior is a little off-putting (kind of a run down old Checkers drive thru), but don't let that fool you! You get a ton of food for the price and it's delicious, fresh, and hot. Here's what we've had there and our review of it: - Mongolian beef: Was a tad dry and rather spicy for our taste. Had lots of onions but not a ton of beef. If you like your food less saucy and you like spice, you'll probably love this. -Sweet & sour chicken: This was really the only bad meal we have had here. It was basically hard fried balls of batter with very little chicken inside. Seemed like they were leftovers from lunch and in the fryer too long. -Chicken & broccoli: Excellent! We get this often and is exceptional every time. Tons of chicken and white rice, with excellent flavor. The sauce is a little sparse, so sometimes we ask for extra. -Lo Mein: Awesome! Great flavor and tons of food. They have excellent lunch specials for under $5 but make sure you get there before 3. If you go there on a weekend night around dinner, it is best to call in ahead as you will be waiting in the drive-thru long enough to read Ulysses. Seriously, call ahead if you can. There is a double drive=thru, but only the one side is working. If you want a ton of great food for an excellent price, you will love this place. Burned beef teriyaki, deep fried Southern style WTF greasy chicken wings, rice with absolutely no flavor I had to load with duck sauce to make it almost edible. I've tried most take out places throughout Ormond because I'll give anything a try and would switch it up if something was better in my opinion but to this day as a take out place goes I've always returned to green tea repeatedly.
