After freshening up at the hotel, I was starving. Since I wasn't familiar to the Ormond Beach area, I did a Yelp search for restaurants near me. I browsed through the list and decided to try China House. It was a little over a seven mile drive to the Chinese restaurant located within a plaza in Holly Hill. Upon entering, I greeted a female employee behind the counter and placed an order for a pint of house special lo mein and an egg roll. The food was prepared really quickly and it was well-cooked. The egg roll was fried nicely and filled with tender vegetables. I added some duck sauce for flavor. The lo mein was a mixture of tender pieces of chicken roast pork, and shrimp, tossed with soft noodles and crunchy vegetables. It may look like a small amount of food, but it was filling. I've been searching for a good Chinese takeout spot around the Daytona Beach / Ormond Beach area for a while now, and honestly it has been almost impossible to find somewhere that actually tastes good--until I found China House in Holly Hill. Their food is absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the spare rib with plain lo mein--it's seriously top-notch. The flavor, the texture, everything about it is just right. Their orange chicken is also really good and definitely worth trying. One thing I noticed right away is the quality of the food. At some Chinese takeout places, you can unfortunately taste when something just isn't fresh or when a kitchen might not be as clean as it should be. Here, everything tastes fresh, clean, and well prepared, which makes a huge difference. I've probably already been three or four times in the last month, so it's safe to say this has become my go-to spot when I'm craving Chinese takeout. They've definitely earned a repeat customer. They also offer lunch specials that include a drink, which is a great deal, so I recommend checking out their website/menu. The prices might be a little higher than some other takeout spots, but the quality makes it totally worth it. The only thing I wish is that I got fortune cookies more often--so next time I might have to remember to ask! If you're in the Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, or Ormond Beach area and craving good Chinese takeout, I highly recommend giving China House a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

!! DANGEROUS!! WARNING Okay so NEVER EVER eat there again!!! If I could do a negative in stars I most certainly would 1000 %! My parents got for there yesterday Eve and my Dad hated the boneless spare ribs= (Pink Pork) because of his very first bite was all fat no pork meat just fat-(Dad hates fat on any meat, he wants all his meat very leen) so he gave it to Us (my self, husband and son) we eat a bit and put it in fridge for later.. Now later has come my husband and I are eating cold out of the plastic bowl take out container it came in and I look down to get a bite and I find metal... YES, you read it correctly METAL!!! I have pictures to show it was a over 2 inch long bent like it was a stretch out accordion accordion,and it looked like it was copper about 1/8th of an inch wide X over 2 inches long and very thin... Reminded me of a piece of a Copper "Chore Boy" kinda but mutch thicker wide- for those who don't know what that is it is; Metal Copper Cleaning Scouring Pad- that is usally used to scrub deep baked/cooked on grime in the kitchen on metal, glass pans & pots, BBQ racks.... Now I just took the food back (the very next morning after they opened up with the food, recipe, and I left the METAL in the meat!!! I showed the lady at the counter taking the orders I told her how it was bought last night by my parents and my dad hated it to faty so gave it to us and how we put it away until later last night and than when we opened it up to eat it cold- Well we stopped eating it the Second we found the METAL and I opened the container and showed her the MAGER PROBLEM; her response was ;"Oh, okay so would you like a replacement order of this same?? " I said, "Um NO, I would prefer you give me a full refund on the order and than I would prefer a replacement order of something completely different, seeing that the Boneless Spare Ribs Pork has a Huge Metal thing in it. How do I know that was the only one"... She said oh I can't do that at all! You only brought back 1 item (now the order was rice, spare ribs, and a plate less than 30$ total it was $26 and change.. She said she will not refund me she can only swap the 1 item, no money back at all... I said you don't think finding metal in our meat is a big deal worth a full refund (on 2 dinners plates my mom& dad ordered - completely ruining their dinner and evening all together?... she said "NO. So you want the other food to switch or not??" I was shocked completely shocked!!! So I took the replacement swap-out and got the bourbon chicken we will see if it's good or not ...I even said to her, And what if I would have reheated that in my microwave!!!??? She said, "So?" Really!!!???! I still feel screwed over!!! I will NEVER give ANY Money NOT EVEN a Penny to China House ever again!!! The food has declined in taste, quality; portions are smaller, yet prices have increased 3x in the year! So aside from Leanh's in S. Definitely a solid Chinese restaurant! Been ordering here for a couple years and haven't been disappointed yet. The service is spot on with very friendly cashiers. The food is usually prepared very quickly within maybe 10-20mins of placing your order. Only had to wait a few times and there was a lot of people and to go orders so understandable. I'm pretty basic and stick with the general tso's chicken combo platter which is very good, but every other dish I have tried was always tasty as well! read more

One of my favorite menu items is the Singapore Mei Fun, its a spicy entree, but its delicious. They also have some of the best Hot and Sour soup that I've had locally. Some of the friendliest employees I've ever met. They seem like old friends when I go back to visit. The vegetables are always fresh and crisp. The food is exceptionally cheap and fast. You can have an excellent, healthy meal for $4. I've never had a bad experience at China House, and this was my daily lunch when I worked in the neighborhood. Can get busy during peak hours, but I've never experienced a wait over 15 minutes. Looks like your standard Chinese take out joint-- counter service, picture menu on the wall, and an extensive take out menu. A few tables for those that choose to eat in. But the quality is far above average. This has become the standard by which I judge other Chinese restaurants. I really miss this place.
