After freshening up at the hotel, I was starving. Since I wasn't familiar to the Ormond Beach area, I did a Yelp search for restaurants near me. I browsed through the list and decided to try China House. It was a little over a seven mile drive to the Chinese restaurant located within a plaza in Holly Hill. Upon entering, I greeted a female employee behind the counter and placed an order for a pint of house special lo mein and an egg roll. The food was prepared really quickly and it was well-cooked. The egg roll was fried nicely and filled with tender vegetables. I added some duck sauce for flavor. The lo mein was a mixture of tender pieces of chicken roast pork, and shrimp, tossed with soft noodles and crunchy vegetables. It may look like a small amount of food, but it was filling. I have leftovers for the next day. read more

I've been searching for a good Chinese takeout spot around the Daytona Beach / Ormond Beach area for a while now, and honestly it has been almost impossible to find somewhere that actually tastes good--until I found China House in Holly Hill. Their food is absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the spare rib with plain lo mein--it's seriously top-notch. The flavor, the texture, everything about it is just right. Their orange chicken is also really good and definitely worth trying. One thing I noticed right away is the quality of the food. At some Chinese takeout places, you can unfortunately taste when something just isn't fresh or when a kitchen might not be as clean as it should be. Here, everything tastes fresh, clean, and well prepared, which makes a huge difference. I've probably already been three or four times in the last month, so it's safe to say this has become my go-to spot when I'm craving Chinese takeout. They've definitely earned a repeat customer. They also offer lunch specials that include a drink, which is a great deal, so I recommend checking out their website/menu. The prices might be a little higher than some other takeout spots, but the quality makes it totally worth it. The only thing I wish is that I got fortune cookies more often--so next time I might have to remember to ask! If you're in the Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, or Ormond Beach area and craving good Chinese takeout, I highly recommend giving China House a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

The food was tasty and better then most in Florida i've tried several places from South Daytona to Orman and I could truly say most are subpar. They don't use fresh vegetables and just not flavorful. This place is probably the best that I've tasted for Chinese carryout. read more

China house is 90% great. The other 10% is fine at the worst. The egg rolls used to be amazing maybe the best I have ever had. Crispy shell and snappy and fresh cabbage. They are still good, just not "the best." Portions are good sized! Willing to customize orders(I love broccoli and when I order xtra xtra sometimes they just give me side, not to cut into my main side!) read more

Gross as gross can get. Ordered moo goo gai pan and it was slimy. The vegetables were not cooked and the chicken pieces had chunks of bone. Very disappointing, bummer. read more

first off: The young lady that took the order, and works the counter, is excellent!! very thorough, and personable! second: the food is excellent. everything was perfect. from the boneless ribs, wings, pan fried dumplings, to the combo meal and rice. and my hot and sour soup was one of the best I've had in a while! they didn't forget about the sour part of the name!! third: the value for the money is great. my whole order was 50 bucks!!! four appetizers, a soup, a pork fried rice, a combo meal and a small sweet and sour chicken (which is what you order in Florida if you want chicken fingers, btw. lol) definitely found our Chinese place!! don't judge it by the simple look. oh, and don't forget to rub the Buddhas belly for luck!! read more

I got the Szechuan chicken with steamed rice, this was absolutely delicious! I'm from Atlanta and I am going to miss how delicious this food was :( their steamed rice was heaven!! Ordered through DoorDash and couldn't be much happier. The flavor of the food was amazing and it was cooked to perfection, there was still snap to the broccoli. I would've liked a lot more spice to General Tso,I didn't get any heat off this at all. Granted, I have a mouth that can take heat well so maybe it is there and I just didn't sense it. I was NOT prepared for the amount of food. The containers were packed TIGHT!!! Even the delivery driver mentioned how heavy the bag was. Super happy with the price for what I got, Epic Deal!!! Even though the spice level was seriously lacking, I'll definitely order again. read more

!! DANGEROUS!! WARNING Okay so NEVER EVER eat there again!!! If I could do a negative in stars I most certainly would 1000 %! My parents got for there yesterday Eve and my Dad hated the boneless spare ribs= (Pink Pork) because of his very first bite was all fat no pork meat just fat-(Dad hates fat on any meat, he wants all his meat very leen) so he gave it to Us (my self, husband and son) we eat a bit and put it in fridge for later.. Now later has come my husband and I are eating cold out of the plastic bowl take out container it came in and I look down to get a bite and I find metal... YES, you read it correctly METAL!!! I have pictures to show it was a over 2 inch long bent like it was a stretch out accordion accordion, and it looked like it was copper about 1/8th of an inch wide X over 2 inches long and very thin... Reminded me of a piece of a Copper "Chore Boy" kinda but mutch thicker wide- for those who don't know what that is it is; Metal Copper Cleaning Scouring Pad- that is usally used to scrub deep baked/cooked on grime in the kitchen on metal, glass pans & pots, BBQ racks.... Now I just took the food back (the very next morning after they opened up with the food, recipe, and I left the METAL in the meat!!! I showed the lady at the counter taking the orders I told her how it was bought last night by my parents and my dad hated it to faty so gave it to us and how we put it away until later last night and than when we opened it up to eat it cold- Well we stopped eating it the Second we found the METAL and I opened the container and showed her the MAGER PROBLEM; her response was ;"Oh, okay so would you like a replacement order of this same?? " I said, "Um NO, I would prefer you give me a full refund on the order and than I would prefer a replacement order of something completely different, seeing that the Boneless Spare Ribs Pork has a Huge Metal thing in it. How do I know that was the only one"... She said oh I can't do that at all! You only brought back 1 item (now the order was rice, spare ribs, and a plate less than 30$ total it was $26 and change.. She said she will not refund me she can only swap the 1 item, no money back at all... I said you don't think finding metal in our meat is a big deal worth a full refund (on 2 dinners plates my mom& dad ordered - completely ruining their dinner and evening all together?... she said "NO. So you want the other food to switch or not??" I was shocked completely shocked!!! So I took the replacement swap-out and got the bourbon chicken we will see if it's good or not ...I even said to her, And what if I would have reheated that in my microwave!!!??? She said, "So?" Really!!!???! I still feel screwed over!!! I will NEVER give ANY Money NOT EVEN a Penny to China House ever again!!! Never and I pray no one else ever gets any metal in their food.. what if I gave it to a small child what if they swallowed it??? Death- SURGERY at the very least! And they (I say they because she walked around talking about me as she complained to her coworkers -in their language so I couldn't understand, but the looks they gave me I could definitely understand she was speaking about me and the food) EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL -in my opinion as the CUSTOMER.... they did not see it as a big deal at all like I was full of it, like I was lieing or something.... so very Sad customer service!! NEGATIVE STARS --------!‼ No STARS AT ALL! read more

Very disappointed with our dinner this evening. We got crab rangoons that looked like they had been left out a week and deep fried to get crispy. Quite gross. Most times we love the food here tonight was just not that night, nothing tasted fresh. read more

if you advertise delivery you should have delivery, just saying , incredibly disappointed

From my last gushing review, this was my go-to place for really amazing NY style Chinese takeout FOR NEARLY 12 YEARS! Something has changed with the owners/mgmt in 2019. The food has declined in taste, quality; portions are smaller, yet prices have increased 3x in the year! So aside from Leanh's in S. Daytona, Pho 13 @ Oceanwalk + Green Tea drive-thru in Ormond Beach, I'll have to find a better place for delicious, affordable + convenient Asian. It's been a great run, but time to move on! My new focus is Healthy Asian Seafood lunch deals w/ soup!! read more

Awful. Most awful food. The hot and sour soup was so Spicy I couldn't eat it. I love spicy but this was ridiculous. The kung pou chicken was terrible. The Gen. tso chicken was edible but not good. We had to throw it all away. Waste of $25. I called to complain but did no good. Don't eat here! read more

While in Daytona bike week, and attending tropical tattoo chopper show. We were hungry for some Chinese food. Guess what. Across the street was this gem. The lady up front was awesome. Really cool person. The food was delicious and they gave you huge amounts of food. Place was nice and clean and so was the bathroom. We actually went there 2x while in Daytona. read more

Great food great staff at an affordable price. I typically order the general chicken but also enjoy the orange chicken and lo mein

Never Again. Ordered up to 2 times a week. Mostly ok. Last nite Horrible!! Pepper steak was mushy, so mushy like dog food. Chicken wings were so over cooked. Fries soggy and cold. Chciken chow mein super cold. Egg rolls soggy. When placong order gal was rude. Ok so we called and said manager not there. Made complaint. Manaher came to phone. Hmmmm Refused to make. Good on anything. Regular long time customers treated like dirt and fed food that tasted worse than dirt. And wr had just given the take out menu to our neighbor who was there when the driver came. Lost our $30-$60 a week and now our neighbors business. Kindness and treating a customer fairly (OR NOT) goes along way. read more

Egg drop soup is my favorite but all their food I've had is always above expectations. Very nice people who always do a great job

You'll be a fan of China House, with its friendly employees, fresh ingredients, cleanliness, and tasty food! I am definitely a fan! I often get the Singapore Mei Fun, extra spicy. It's so good. And it's enough for three servings! They are also really good at preparing large, accurate orders for take out! It's my number one spot for Chinese American take-out when I'm in the area. read more

They make these best bbq pork I have ever eaten. mouth wateringly tender and juicy.

Definitely a solid Chinese restaurant! Been ordering here for a couple years and haven't been disappointed yet. The service is spot on with very friendly cashiers. The food is usually prepared very quickly within maybe 10-20mins of placing your order. Only had to wait a few times and there was a lot of people and to go orders so understandable. I'm pretty basic and stick with the general tso's chicken combo platter which is very good, but every other dish I have tried was always tasty as well! read more

OMG This was the worse food tonight. All I can say we will never come back again and I will let all the people I know not to eat here. I have ordered food here many times, tonight it was vomit. I called the the manager and she refused to hear me out and refund our money. by our calculations we have most likely spent over 700 in food over the last months, even with that she was rude and hung up on me. I caution you all on this place it is failing and have no sense of customer service. I will now call many people near this joint. DONT GO THERE DONT ORDER FOOD FROM THEM read more

Won't deliver within a five mile radius and the girl on the phone was dense. No wonder they have a poor rating . Feel bad there going to go under . Shitty service shitty food read more

The best part about China House is that they will customize your order to your liking, whether you prefer a meatless dish, spicy, or not so spicy, they will prepare it the way you want it, every time. One of my favorite menu items is the Singapore Mei Fun, its a spicy entree, but its delicious. They also have some of the best Hot and Sour soup that I've had locally. They also offer a great weekly lunch menu which comes with a soft drink as well. It used to be $3.99 but has went up to $4.99. But, its still worth it for the amount of food that you get. read more

It's so refreshing to find a good Chinese place that delivers. We always get the boneless spare ribs and generals tao chicken. Hardly any fat on the boneless ribs, chicken is spicy and not all breading. Pork fried rice has fresh veggies and tastes like its made fresh daily. Awesome food. Hands down the only Chinese place to order from for delivery in Daytona Beach. Only.... Now they've decided to stop delivering to this area. 4 miles away... So pissed. read more

Absolutely love this place.. super nice service. Great late night place .. friendly staff , great prices as well yummy food always fresh ..

Ordered out for delivery.... The person who took our order over the phone was very nice and patiently answered all of our questions. Our order showed up at the door quicker than promised. The delivery person was very pleasant. Thanks to the Yelp Community because we chose this restaurant based on your glowing comments. We concur! Wow! Try the House Special Soup. Yummers. Very tasty broth with fresh veggies, shrimp, pork, and chicken. We also had the Shrimp w/Lobster Sauce, (Shrimp were quite large.) and Beef w/Broccoli combo dishes. Definitely not skimpy on the meat or veg. They do levy a very small delivery charge of $1.99. So worth it. read more

Portions were great, steamed dumplings were fine, seaseme chicken was mediocre, white rice was good. We ordered through doordash and that service was great. read more

Some of the friendliest employees I've ever met. They seem like old friends when I go back to visit. The vegetables are always fresh and crisp. The food is exceptionally cheap and fast. You can have an excellent, healthy meal for $4. I've never had a bad experience at China House, and this was my daily lunch when I worked in the neighborhood. Can get busy during peak hours, but I've never experienced a wait over 15 minutes. Looks like your standard Chinese take out joint-- counter service, picture menu on the wall, and an extensive take out menu. A few tables for those that choose to eat in. But the quality is far above average. This has become the standard by which I judge other Chinese restaurants. I really miss this place. For all it's faults Daytona has some excellent budget food. read more

Great food choices. Good prices. Have the food made how you like it. Meat & dairy disgusts you? Substitute with tofu! Been coming here for 5 yrs & it's still my fav Chinese takeout. Just one issue- the weird Asian guy at the counter can never get an order right, even after 5 yrs lol. Always get the older lady to take your order & you'll be happier. read more

Grew up eating Chinese food in NYC and this little place is solid. For $5.45 I got a nice sized portion of Kung Pao chicken and pork fried rice, and that includes a can of soda. The chicken was moist and fresh, it was loaded with vegetables (and MSG maybe) and the rice was light and tasty without too much soy. I was feeling a little wild so I got myself an egg roll for $1.20, and it was crunchy and tasty and loaded with pork. This is a strip mall lunch spot, not a date place. PF Chang definitely wouldn't approve, although I'm not too sure they're a fan of his either. The open kitchen here speaks no English (and no Spanish either) Take out is fast and friendly, but make sure you ask for the home made hot mustard and chili oil. They're insanely good. read more

Tofu's not on the menu, but they'll gladly make you a General Tso's (and probably whatever else you want) with tofu. The texture is right, not too spongy or too firm, and without the hard, crunchy outside that some lesser Chinese takeout places have on their tofu. We go there at least once a month. The lunch specials are the killer deal here. You can get a big meal with either an egg roll or a can of soda for less than five bucks, and have enough left over for dinner. You can't get two meals at McDonald's for that price. The combination of excellent quality and low price make this the best Chinese takeout in town. read more
