Who knew I'd find comforting Vietnamese food across from the Speedway! I had just flown into Daytona Beach and, after settling into my hotel room, I came to Mama's Kitchen for dinner. Right away, we were greeted by a young lady and gentleman, and were directed to sit at one of the tables. The restaurant was clean and spacious. They had a cute little Vietnamese cart in the middle of the restaurant to bring a bit of Vietnam into its design. They also had a wall with a beautiful drawing. We ordered a few things from their menu, starting off with egg rolls and Bahn Mi with sweet potato fries. Whatever dip it came with was delicious - and that's coming from someone who doesn't like the orange sweet potatoes! We also ordered entrees such as their Bo Kho and Bo Ne. Both stews were delicious. For drinks, we had a Tamarind drink and a Kumquat drink - both of which were refreshing. Overall, I really liked the food here. And the decor was simple and the service was attentive. The gentleman who brought our food out was also very careful with making sure there were no peanuts in any of our dishes. Ate at this restaurant during September 2026 on a weekend during the dinner hour. The business was not very busy at the time. My wife ordered the "Pho Mama" and I ordered the "Bo Ne". We did not order any beverages other than water. The service was very slow and I almost got up to remind our server that we had ordered food and were still waiting. I sampled my wife's pho and found it had a good flavor. The tendon and tripe were over cooked and a bit mushy. The other meats were cooked ok. The plate of condiments (bean sprouts, basil and peppers) were very skippy. At $18, I felt the Pho needed to be better. At $20, the Bo Ne lacked in a few areas and following this dining experience I probably wouldn't order it again. First off, I ordered this dish because it looked good and from the picture. On the menu it says "Vietnamese beef tenderloin" on the menu. The dish I was served looked much different than what I saw on the menu. The pickled carrots and radish must of had the day off on this night. Back to the tenderloin. In my years as a chef, I will tell you that there is only one piece of meat that is more tender than any other cut of meat from the cow and that is the tenderloin. What was served me was closer related to a tough cut or sirloin that tightened up so much when cooked, that every piece of meat I had to chew and chew to get past the grizzle. Once chewed, I needed to remove the meat from my mouth. See picture of the bread basket for the remnants of their so called beef tenderloin. The sauce that the meat was swimming in had a good taste. The liver pate was bland and was melting away into the sauce of the dish. One positive note about the experience is that the bread was superb! The food was amazing! I'm from California and have been trying to find a good pho place and am so glad I tried this one. I got Thai tea as well and that was the perfect sweet and not too heavy like a lot of places do. The restaurant was very clean when I came in and since I was sitting alone, a lot of restaurants give a little attitude over it but they were very welcoming and set me right up. My server and the lovely lady that brought out my food were phenomenal, constantly checking in on me and lmk that if I want to sub something it's no worry at all for next time. I just happened in here on my way to the beach to go surf and very glad I did. I love quality Viet food--but so much in Florida (aside from Orlando) is lackluster. This is different, this is the real deal. You look at their menu and know it's legit at once--then there are the desserts which are also legit and remarkably so--very welcome. My bun bowl with skewered grilled pork and spring roll was absolutely perfect. Like, it seriously could not have been any better. Adrian, my waiter, was also excellent. My only critique--and it may seem a petty one--is the music was banal, trite, American and British pop hits from the early 2000s. There is so much good Viet pop and other Asian music--K-pop if nothing else--they could play, so why this? I don't want to hear the same music Kohl's plays at a restaurant so magical and delicious. The name is actually Mama's Pho and it was changed quite a while back! Our 2nd visit to Mama's Pho. Anyway, our first visit was about 6 months ago. Our first visit we had Ashlynn F as our server. We struck up a conversation with her on the first visit and found her to be friendly, professional and knew everything about the food and restaurant. So, as we drove over for our second visit we hoped Ashlynn would be there again. Well, our wish came true and we were greeted by Ashlynn when we walked through the doors. Not only did Ashlynn remember us, where we sat on our first visit but also what we ordered the first time!! I have yet to be disappointed by anything I've ordered from Mama's kitchen. The ingredients are consistently fresh, the food is delicious, and it is prepared with care. It often looks so pretty that I have to snap a pic! 4.5 stars. I had a coupon, so I decided to check it out. I really did not know of a good place for pho in Volusia County, but I think I just discovered one. Although slightly on the pricey side for the portion size, the food is high-quality with an authentic taste. I am a vegetarian, and I saw only one vegetarian option on the menu. When I asked our server (who it seemed may have also been the owner), he pointed out 4 or 5 things he could make vegetarian for me with tofu. We got summer rolls made with crispy tofu, basil, and a yummy peanut sauce for dipping. I got a delicious vermicelli noodle dish with fried tofu, marinated sautéed mushrooms, and plenty of fresh veggies. Delish! My husband said the pho was spot-on although the portion size was slightly on the small side. They had a house-made spicy sauce to put in the pho that really made it a step above. While Christmas shopping my partner discovered a Vietnamese Restuarant on International Speedway Blvd. Since the area is really void of any really good Asian cousine we decided to stop by for lunch. And we're really happy that we did. Mama's Kitchen features what we would consider Fusion Vietnamese cooking which is not a bad thing. Even though it was lunchtime the place was empty. And the dining room is surrounded by televisions on both sides of the place. That said, we were seated immediately and discovered the culinary passions of the place. We started off with the Spring Rolls. A standard Vietnamese appitizer these rolls consisted of prawns, pork, vermilelli noodles, wrapped in lettuce and rolled in rice paper accompanied by a very tasty peanut sauce. What differenciated these rolls from the ones that you can get from other Vietnamese places is that they were really fresh; the lettuce was crunchy fresh. A lot of places usually have these premade, but these were reallt fresh. The entrees were really good too. The winner was Bun Thit Nuong; which consisted of grilled 5 - spice pork, over vermicelli noodles that was served with an eggroll. The other dish; Com Chien was less spectacular consisting of fried rice with seafood, baby shrimp scallups, in a garlic butter sauce. It was basically a seafood fried rice. We both liked the place and it certainly filled us up. The only negative was the price. For $50 for lunch it is more reflective of the times that we live in but we did see a couple of people look over the menu and price and walk out. The food was good as well as our server. To be honest, it is one of the better Vietnamese places in the area, but nothing like Ah Hong in Orlando which we always go to when traveling down to Disney. But if you're in Daytona Beach, Mama's Kitchen is well worth checking out. read more

I am Asian and always on the hunt for good Asian food, and this is in the top 3 best pho broths I have ever had in my life. I was looking for Vietnamese vegetarian options at Mama's Kitchen and found pho rao. The pho rao has a clear vegetable broth with carrots and cabbage and tofu (I asked them to prepare it without onions.). I added bean spouts, jalapeños, and lime from the fresh condiment plate. The soup was flavorful hearty with plenty of vegetables. To my surprise, the pho rao does not have rice noodles, but the large size bowl was very filling. I also got the seafood fried rice to share at the table and a Thai tea. The fried rice came out first and was devoured in minutes. The Thai tea was refreshing and cold. Make sure to stir the condensed milk! Our server was fun and energetic. The restaurant was clean and well kept. The dining area is open and nicely decorated. I did a Google search for a Vietnamese restaurant while in Daytona. I chose this one because of the name. Great choice! The beef pho was fantastic. That was some of the the best broth I have ever had. The next time I would ask for the thinner noodles instead of the Thai noodles. That is only a personal preference though. The pho was amazing. My low ratings is because 1 star for exceptional service by our one waitress who did a wonderful job tending to our large party of 14/half kids and half adults. She deserves a raise! She had maybe an Aussie accent. And the 2nd star was for ambiance and food presentation. It was a nice location. As for flavors, I could not give it any star ratings because we were all very disappointed. We just sucked it up and ate it all because our bill was over $400. The pho broth tasted like it was from instant package, we asked for fish sauce and basically drowned our broth with siracha, hoisin and lime to give it more flavors. The seafood boil was the most expensive & had no flavors, seafood was boiled and bland even with the house special sauce was lightly drenched. Had to request for more sauce on the side just to dip the seafood. Oh and the banh mi sandwiches...so disappointing...literally bread was dried and meat lacked flavors. All together...everything we ordered lacked flavor. Such a costly meal and sadly I don't recommend it. Mainly my biggest complaint is the flavor and that's the most important. The steak dish was good but my son got literally 4 slices of beef for $20 or so....bummer! Was really looking forward to give it a great review but I'm sorry if I sound harsh...I would revisit the recipes and revamp the flavors to intensify it. read more
