We spent over $100 dollars on poorly cooked and unseasoned food. We just moved to Holly Hill from Palm Coast and let me tell you, Red Bistro has NOTHING on China King. This place needs new management or they are just underserving their community with this halfhearted cooked food. My husband picked up the food so I didn't see the ambiance. We ordered several different rolls; Bo Bo, Crazy, and the Highway 95. We also ordered the Pad Thai, Kung Pao Chicken, and Sweet & Sour Chicken. All the food was delicious. Still a great place to go when you want Asian food. The food, and especially the sushi, is always fresh and delicious. Service is always pleasant and the ambience is calming and peaceful. My wife loves salmon, sushi, and sashimi, and they will make essentially anything for you with whatever ingredients you want. I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp dinner take out. Well, I got home and found it was steamed broccoli and heavily battered fried shrimp with no salt or pepper. The shrimp was soggy due to the water from the broccoli. I called and told them what I received and they wanted me to bring it back. the trip was 12 miles and it was almost around 9 pm so I told them I'd take a pic and come tomorrow. Stopped off the highway looking for a healthy alternative to fast food and had high hopes for Red Bowl. It serves Thai, Chinese, Japanese and other Asian dishes and was certainly a much healthier stop than the Wendy's across the street. For the most part, Red Bowl delivered. We had sushi, mango shrimp, Lo Mein, and curry so we covered an extensive palate. The food came out at different times, including one about 10 minutes later than the others. Flavors were good, but certainly this type food is done much better elsewhere. Service was pleasant except when I asked if the had WiFi, one person said no, while another said that the three WiFi names that showed up were all broken. I'm writing this review again since it was taken down. My coworkers and I all ordered take out for lunch a few months ago. We ordered multiple lunch deal meals which was great. We started eating and everything was fine until I FOUND TWO PIECES OF hair in my salad. I was pretty upset about it. And it wasn't my hair, because mine is long dirty blonde, and these two pieces were short and black. Did I call back or inform them of it? No but I should have, just didn't want to go through the hassle. Sad they reported my original review, when it was the honest truth. What I was served was a bowl of onions floating in a white, flavorless coconut milk with a few chunks of boiled chicken. No red curry paste at all! No seasoning... no flavor... what in earth?! A frozen meal from Publix is far higher quality, better flavor and 1/5 of the price. We tried Red Bowl for the first time this evening. We had the fried dumplings and spare ribs as appetizers and the orange chicken, moo-shu pork and vegetable lo mein. When we ordered we asked our waitress if the dumplings were 'pan fried' (pot sticker), or deep fried; you can also order them steamed. She said pan fried so we ordered them. While they were tasty they were clearly fried in an oil bath as opposed to a light coating of oil on the wok. They weren't truly pan fried, but rather somewhere between deep and pan fried. The pork ribs were crispy, tasty and meaty. Would definitely order those again. The orange chicken pieces were lightly coated in batter, oil fried and tossed in a slightly tangy orange sauce. It was served with a few pieces of broccoli and sliced orange peels. It also was very tasty. The vegetable lo mein and moo-shu pork dishes weren't very good. There were a few pieces of thinly sliced carrots in the lo mein dish but the majority of vegetables were onions and scallions. It also tasted a bit bland and had too much oil. The moo-shu pork tasted "off" and was way too oily. This was surprising because moo-shu pork tends to be one of the more healthy options at Chinese restaurants. However, this dish seemed soaked in oil and was almost inedible. Overall, we thought our appetizers and the orange chicken dish were good (not the best we've ever had by a long shot), but okay for the area. The vegetable lo mein and moo-shu pork dishes were way too oily and bland. We wouldn't order those again. read more
