The pork fried rice have really good taste to it. We really enjoyed. It was our first visit there as for the egg rolls we did not care for them at all. The kind of greasy they taste. They didn't taste like an egg to us. They were fast and friendly as well. They also have a few tables and chairs where you can just sit there and eat. I find that to be very convenient, but will be back to try some other stuff. read more

I have visited this restaurant off and on again since 2016. The quality of the food has suffered over the years and I'm thinking Panda Express across the street is the better option. My last meal on the 26th of Dec. was overcooked, the Orange Chicken has gristle or bone remnants in it, and the beef teriyaki was tougher than a leather shoe bottom. The staff is friendly enough, but for the quality and price, you would be better served to goto P.E. or from next door to Publix and get frozen Chinese entrees. read more

Wanted to give a different place a try. Price to food ratio is not great. I spent 70.00 and got a pint of white rice really. We ordered several main dishes and rather than meat they consisted mainly of vegetables. Will stick to my main place for Chinese take out. read more

I work in Port Orange, and I don't get a scheduled lunch break so I order a lot of my meals delivered so I can eat on the fly. Today I was trying to decide what I wanted to eat and this restaurant popped up as a recommendation so I decided to try it. I didn't know what to expect because these small places can be hit or miss, but the reviews seemed favorable. I ordered pork lo mein, boneless pork ribs, their egg drop/wonton soup combo and an eggroll. The meal came with plenty of sauces and utensils along with a small bag of fried noodles. The food is good. Not great, good. And, the reason I took a couple of points off is while I liked the food, it left a "time to change the oil" aftertaste... on all of it. The egg roll and the fried noodles were also a bit stale. The combo soup was hot and hearty and probably what I enjoyed most although it could have used maybe a little more salt or seasoning. Like I said, I liked the boneless pork ribs which were moist and very flavorful, as well as the lo mein, but that aftertaste kinda stayed with me... So much so that I had to eat the meal in small stops and starts and couldn't really "dig in" because that "used oil" taste would become overwhelming after a few bites. Would I order again..? Price was reasonable for delivery. Serving sizes were appropriate. But I'm not sure... Maybe after an oil change...? read more

A typical fast Americanized- Chinese take out restaurant. This is not authentic Chinese food (obviously) but very good for a quick takeout! Really solid performance. Done on time, all items included in to-go. Everything was great. Chow mein is called Lo Mein in these parts, so I was educated on that. Smart order taking there. The Chinese restaurant we used to go to (Asian Sauce Bowl) is under new management. The new owners raised the prices. $12 for soup is ridiculous and the menu is very confusing. Enter the China Chef. We ordered twice so far and we were pleasantly surprised both times. We tried hot and sour soup, eggrolls, dumplings, kung pao chicken and Szechuan beef. All dishes were excellent. The portions were generous and tasty. You get 8 dumplings in an order and they were quite good for take out. The sauces on the chicken and the beef dishes were savory, delicious and well made. The veggies were crisp and cooked to perfection. The chicken and beef were stir fried perfectly. We hope that the quality of this restaurant continues to be as good as our first 2 encounters and we look forward to going back. read more

Food made me sick. I decided to stop by one day after work and after eating the food at home, I got sick that very same night. Ended up throwing away the left overs. The food was not even that great to begin with. I recommend looking elsewhere. I didn't even bother calling and complaining about my situation as I will never return anyway. read more

We've been searching for a good authentic Chinese food restaurant since we moved here from California. This is not that that! We asked if they used MSG and his answer was "just a little". Beware!....They must use a ton of MSG because it took me out for a day and a half. Plus the food is mediocre at best. I would've had a better Chinese meal if I've gone down the street to Panda Express! You definitely will not catch me buying any more food from China Chef! read more

We've heard nothing but good things and we were excited to try it. Whenever we try a new place we get a bunch of things to sample. This time is no different. We ordered orange chicken, General Tso, House special lo mein, teriyaki beef on a stick, crab rangoon, and two egg rolls. Egg rolls were very chewy, very heavy on the cabbage but overall the flavor was good. The only downside was how chewy they were.. I can't stress it enough. Crab rangoon was very different from what were used to. Every other place fries them up nice and crispy and there's a noticeable amount of crab in the middle, but these I don't think had any crab and the dough was wrong, less like wonton dough more like a very chewy cracker. The teriyaki beef on a stick was good, although dry there was still a nice flavor. Usually the meat is a bit thicker and juicy with a nice sauce, these were thinner and had less sauce so they weren't as good. Out of the appetizers these were the best by far. The orange chicken and the General Tso's chicken were about equal and both had the same downfall. As soon as you open the containers you could smell it... Tofu. For most people tofu wouldn't be a problem but for my husband who was seriously allergic to soy tofu is a problem. Like most allergies once you build up a tolerance for certain things you're okay, but anything new introduced causes problems. He's okay with going out for Chinese food, he won't get sick. Giving him things like edamame or tofu would be equivalent to giving him food poisoning. There's no reason for tofu to be in a chicken dish. I'm not talking about whole pieces of tofu, I'm talking about the sauce itself having a very strong tofu flavor and aroma. The chicken pieces themselves or a lot smaller than other restaurants in the area, no doubt a way to save money. The breading was soggy and the sauce was nice and thick. My husband was sick for the next 2 days with serious stomach pains and constant trips to the bathroom. It baffles me why there would be anything tofu related and a chicken dish that doesn't specifically say that there's tofu in it. Honestly, even if we liked the food here we could never go back because we wouldn't be able to trust that they didn't do this to other dishes. It's a shame really, we both are really liked their lo mein. We ate the lomein before we tried the chicken and we both agree that this was the best thing we ordered, we even prefer it to the other places in the area. Still, just such a shame!! read more

I recently moved across town, so my go-to Chinese restaurant is now inconvenient to get to. I wish I had tried China Chef sooner. As far as take-outs go, their food is the tastiest in town. I probably should have bought the sesame chicken like the other reviewer mentioned. Instead, I was craving chicken fried rice so I decided to give it a shot. They should call it pea and carrot fried rice, extra bland. If you're going to cook this crud maybe you should decide whether or not you'd eat it yourself first? Doubtbul... I was starving at the time I got my food so I ate half of it. The good news is I didn't get sick. I didn't have the usual leftovers from a quart of food because the remains were not worth reheating, very disappointed. Since I didn't get sick, maaaaaybe I'll give something else a shot since this is the most convenient place to my residence. Maaaaaaybe not. read more

For Chinese takeout, this meets the requirements....dependable, consistency, wifi, clean establishment, friendly staff, and good food. Did my first take out here for lunch today. Bikers everywhere! Weird lady in the lane next to me in a Beetle with the top down and a dead plant in her cupholder?? Weird, but worth the trip. Ordered the food at the counter and it was out before I had time to finish a lesson on my Duolingo app, so it was fast. Got it home and it was still hot enough for little ghosts to fly out when I opened the lid on my Orange Chicken. My grandmother and aunt really like this place and order take-out frequently. This was my first time and I wasn't impressed. I ordered the moo shoo vegetables and it came with shrimp in it. Make sure you specify if you have an allergy or are a vegetarian. It also wasn't that great. I'm still giving three stars because my grandmother and aunt enjoy the food. read more

Hubs had Pad Kee Mao with chicken (Thai hot!) and loved it. Although we were too full, the almond pudding on the menu did sound good - maybe next time!

Service is friendly and prompt. The tasteful interior is nicely lit, not too bright. There is bar seating but most sit in one of the many booths, and there are bigger tables for large groups. I got the beef brisket noodle soup and my father got the braised pork belly and taro. Stand out favorites were the baked pork buns and sesame balls, both perfectly cooked and filled. The siu mai were available as shrimp, pork, or beef - we got shrimp and yes it was nice shrimp but I prefer the shrimp/pork mixture. Seafood dumplings were good as was the eggplant. The black bean pork rib tips were a bit underseasoned and the soup dumplings had only a few drops of soup and too thick skins BUT if you just think of them as ginger pork dumplings they're great. Brisket noodles soup was good but nothing outstanding. The pork belly was thick cut and perfectly cooked tender and fatty and while we assumed it would be chunks of taro it turned out to be minced into the sauce. Mostly sweet without much other nuance but adding a bit of the chili paste we asked for made it better. Only complaint is that after our final dish came out we never saw our waiter again. A younger waiter started working the floor which only had 3 other tables occupied. We had to flag him down for take out boxes and the check after sitting there for 10 minutes despite him having visited once to refill water when we were already done. If I'm craving dim sum and had to be in the area I'd go again but I'll still be going to Orlando to really scratch that dim sum itch.

We started with the Som Tam papaya salad at a medium and it had a perfect kick with the sour-sweet-funk punch of lime, fish sauce, rock sugar, probably some tamarind? It was fresh, cool and crunchy and a refreshing start to the meal. I had to try the Summer Breeze Rolls because I was actually first introduced to this restaurant by their stalls set up at various local farmers markets and the peanut sauce is out of this world, perfectly sweet and salty and a little curry spice kick as well. The rolls were wrapped a bit loose but I love that they grill the shrimp and also stuff mostly with lettuce instead of a ton of noodles so the rolls were more crisp than squish/starch. I got the panang curry medium and I think I could have gone a step up on heat but it was a nice mild burn that let the flavor of the sauce shine through. The veggies were crisp, the chicken tender, and I was happy with every bite. My father got the Lard Na 100 with crispy duck (a $10.50 upcharge but so worth it, so well cooked and crisp!) and loved it, just had no heat despite ordering it medium. I was impressed with the noodles - wide rice noodles but cooked firm so they didn't fall apart but had a delightful chew. The service was friendly, attentive, and super helpful with suggestions on heat level since we hadn't been before and didn't know if they pulled their punches (they don't, so start at a level below what you usually get elsewhere). Tonight we had the "winter pockets" (crab rangoon) and chicken pad Thai. The pockets were a lot smaller than they were a few months ago. Taste was good. Probably wouldn't order them again. Chicken pad Thai did not have peanuts or bean sprouts ?? This seemed odd to us. It was not the best pad Thai we have ever had. It wasn't the worst either. I ordered medium spicy and the food as not spicy at all. Overall, we were disappointed. Next time we will probably try a different restaurant.
