    Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio
    Kevin O.

Visited this restaurant on various occasions and most times they were okay. Honestly, I only go for convenience after having a dental check up. I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio. The rice noodle is now chopped apart, so at first it looks like a very full bowl of food, but it's not. Most of the bowl is filled with vegetables. The flavours are fine, but taste very regular; like any other typical Vietnamese restaurant. Pricing was fair, my bowl was around $10. Now what I hated about this place, especially for this specific visit, was the atmosphere. Yes, these restaurants can often have random moments of people being loud, but this occasion was horrible. One of the staff basically tossed plates, bowls, and utensils into the cart. Everything was so loud. Maybe she was having a bad day but it's hard to eat when there's loud clanging every time a patron has their table cleaned. I don't recommend this place as a go-to spot. I do, however, recommend it if you don't mind a basic Vietnamese restaurant.

Place is very dependable these days. Other places often their pho isn't as good. I give 4 stars but always order the same thing. Small special pho

Came here for a late dinner. There were still quite a few tables around us. I wasn't really feeling like pho so I opted for a vermicelli bowl. I had the shredded pork and grilled chicken vermicelli bowl. I wasn't really sure what shredded pork was, but when it came it almost looked like vermicelli, but a more brown colour. I think it was actually shredded pork skin. The chicken was super tender and flavourful. The bowl was pretty filling and had plenty of toppings to go with it. My only complaint was that I didn't know it came with raw bean sprouts and I would have liked them to be cooked. But now I know for next time.

Pho Tuesday is now a thing for my family because of Thai Son. Come by for some pho, big or small with a good selection of topping combinations. My standard is the small #2, a decently sized bowl with my favourite raw beef slices. The broth is decent, and I find it very filling. Sometimes I drink it all, depending on how strong it is that day. Spring rolls are alright. Crispy, dry, and a bit out of my budget to justify eating it with just myself. Great prices for pho (10% off on Tuesdays) so bring the family!

Came here for some Vietnamese dinner goodness, after noticing that this place has replaced the Church's Chicken. Parking is available in the strip mall parking lot, as well as on Victoria outside. The interior is mostly brand new, but you can still tell that the place used to be a fried chicken joint. The chicken-themed bathroom signs come to mind. Service is half-decent, but nothing special. Not sure about the hygiene at this location - one of the staff members would serve us while he was mopping the floor. Not sure if he washed his hands each time, but I'm suspecting he didn't. Of course, one could argue that this place is authentic Vietnamese as a result. (I've been there) Spring rolls - surprisingly mediocre. The filling was okay, but the outside looked like something you'd get out of a dim sum restaurant. Even with the fish sauce they tasted pretty bland. Hot and sour soup - quite decent. Nice large chunks of vegetables, and that trademark tang. Carmelized fish - pretty salty, but this is the way they roll. The fish has a lot of bones, so don't eat too quickly. Even though I thought the dish was okay, my friends described the meat as "sandy". Something to keep in mind. Strangely enough, and maybe it's just in my head, but this location simply isn't as good as the original (E.12th) Marine Drive, or Richmond locations.

Come here for the food....Not the service. Food was delicious. Pho broth was on point. Portion sizes are generous. Price is a bit expensive for the beef short ribs. Staff weren't that friendly. Bit of a language barrier with our wait staff.

    Cash only.

THIS PLACE IS CASH ONLY. Decided to have some Vietnamese food a couple of nights ago. When seated, you're given a teapot and some cups that you fill yourself, and a menu. The items are average priced in my opinion and on Tuesdays, there is a 10% discount. For example, my friend ordered a large pho which is $8.50 + tax and I ordered a Vermicelli bowl with shredded pork, grilled pork, and a spring roll which is $9.25 + tax. The food arrived quite quickly. The pho came first and my Vermicelli came shortly after. As with most places, the pho comes with a plate of bean sprouts, lime, one or two pieces of pepper, and some leaves. I liked my vermicelli bowl. It had small pieces of peanuts, some leaves, lettuce, one deep fried spring roll, shredded pork, grilled pork, some pickled vegetables, and some fried onions. My friend didn't like her pho. She said something was off about the soup. She also mentioned that it had MSG in it, which isn't too uncommon. The service is alright. The waitresses are attentive, but don't smile a lot which may or may not matter to you. When you pay, you pay at the front and you aren't given any mints or candies (sadly). I will return here for my fair share of Vermicelli since it is near my home and it's a short walk.

Good dish...nice staff and quick service. Price is a tad bit pricey but I guess coz the place is bigger than your ordinary Vietnamese resto.

Quick service. Staff are quite noisy though. I like their rice dishes. Soup was served hot. But I've been to other Vietnamese places where they also serve the same kind of dishes and tastes the same...and cost me a tad bit less.

Look! Another Thai Son location! *happy dance* As with their other locations, the BBH was not mind blowing, but the Grilled Lemongrass Chicken on Broken Rice is always good. I'm not usually around this area but it's good to know I have solid food options if I ever find myself hungry over there! Solid 3.5 stars

Just an average tasting Pho. My rare beef pho was okay but soup was rather greasy. Everything else was alright. I asked the server for uncooked bean sprouts and said they only got cooked ones. Oh wells. Anyways they offer 20% off every tuesdays. (Correction: 10% not 20,sorry)

Happy with the dried noodles - authentic taste of Southeast Asia!

Thai son is a no frills, typical quick vietnamese family style restaurant. Don't expect great 'service' that you usually get from westernized restaurants. Hwy, at least they serve free pot of tea! Coming from Singapore I've been missing southeast Asian food, especially the egg noodles. For the first time I tried thai son's pork dried egg noodle and it was pretty close to what I've missed! Pho portions are huge too, and though broth is not as strong as other places I've been to, it definitely has less MSG in it which I like! Food is served quick under 10-15min wait so it's great to visit even when you're famished! I wouldn't call them dirt cheap considering that it only costs $2 in Vietnam itself while it's $9-10 each here! But sure, it's less pricey!

Can you believe we got 8 guys to go golfing on Christmas Day? Anyways after a cold round of golf at Fraserview golf course we were looking for a hot meal. We ended up meeting at Pho Thai Son on Fraser street. I had the large special beef soup (number 13) and a Vietnamese ice coffee. It was nice to have a hot soup/noodle dish on a cold Christmas Day. Everything was good. Just the beef slices were a bit on the fatty side. After tearing some of the excess fat off the meat it's perfectly edible. There are a ton of Vietnamese restaurants around Pho Thai Son isn't half bad. I would place it on the ok side.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

The bone broth was good and the price for the mini version is good for a light lunch. We both enjoyed the spicy baguette stick with the pork pate. A pleasant surprise. However i find the escargot a bit pricey with the quantity and the way it was prepared. Slightly too oily to my personal prefence The iced vietnamese coffee we ordered tasted similar to a regular iced coffee, missing the sweet condensed milk flavor for a vietnamese coffee

My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant. The veggies were overcooked, but plentiful and nicely chosen. Decent place for veggie pho.
