Restaurant located in/near Vancouver downtown. We walked down here during vacation stay in Vancouver. Didn't see any parking besides street parking. A stylish and clean restaurant. They also have a bar area. Kind of an Asian French fusion menu. Food dishes were good and creative, but it didn't really appeal to me. I appreciated the good service and chill atmosphere, but not sure if I would come back. I would say that their house made spicy was really good. A mix of sweet, sour, and spicy. Had a brightness to it yet also very, very spicy. Tastes great on many of the dishes, especially if you wanted a nice "kick" to the food. I went to the old Linh Cafe location (on West 4th) year ago, but this was my first visit to this new location. The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. We were in the area so stopped by for a quick lunch. The decor and ambience are both very nice and inviting. The menu isnt big but they do have a reasonable selection of items but mostly dinner entrees We ordered a mini version of pho bo (beef broth pho), french escargot and the spicy baguette stick. The bone broth was good and the price for the mini version is good for a light lunch. We both enjoyed the spicy baguette stick with the pork pate. A pleasant surprise. However i find the escargot a bit pricey with the quantity and the way it was prepared. Very memorable meal. Indo chine cuisine has always intrigued me. Really enjoyed the escargot, pate, bread and pho here. We also ordered the duck and steak frites, which were good but it exceptional especially when factoring price. The four basic menu items stood out the most. Boosting their rating to 5 stars as I highly recommend this gorgeous place for its French cooking style with Vietnamese dishes. Ambiance here is modern, upscale with great chic vibes! One of my favorite comfort meal on a cold rainy day would be their Pho with bone marrow. Their in house vinegar garlic chili sauce is a must try, add to the pho or try it with anything and everything. I find their service decent and I especially enjoy the cocktail experience here. So it's an experience because you get to see their every shake and pour plus their bar is marbled and the drinks are delicious! This is a great place for dining in a group to share various dishes, for bringing out of town visitors as this place has the casual formal vibes for business acquaintance. And yes, it's a perfect place for dining solo as well because they offer mini portions for their pho. Definitely a fun place to take friends who enjoy both French and Vietnamese. My out of town guests especially love their escargot, foei gras and frog legs dishes on the menu. Upon arrival this place was really cute and chic... but here's where it all went wrong. This place isn't even busy but they have so many waitresses and it took so long for someone to come to take our order. We had to wave them down. Service is definitely lacking. I suggest to hire more cooks if possible because the food did not come out in a timely matter as stated. We had to ask someone else who worked there how much longer... to make matters worst it took 3 times as long. I don't think I would come back... no one really checked on us. My friends and I were looking for a good pho place in downtown and we were not disappointed! I will say that Linh Cafe is confusing - it's a bakery, it's a pho place, and it's also a high-end French-ish restaurant. We came only for the pho, so it was within our budget. But the rest of the menu was pretty fancy. I got a mini sized pho and I added bone marrow. That was delicious - the bone marrow makes the soup so much fattier and heartier. I don't think I've had Northern pho, which has wider noodles and a clearer soup. My friend was surprised that they didn't provided sauces like hoison and chili sauce, or bean sprouts and herbs. Apparently that's specific to Southern pho! I also shared the Pate Sticks with some friends. This restaurant serves a fusion of Vietnamese-French (most French) food items but I came here to try the Northern-style pho. We were given a free roll of bread with butter and were able to get it refilled. The pho comes in a huge bowl so I wouldn't eat too much of the bread as advice! Came to try this Vietnamese French fusion restaurant after searching n for similar places in Vanc. Reservation was easy to set up online. This is located in a trendy new addition under the Granville bridge. Modern interior with concrete flora and high ceilings and French country style wood chairs. Server was friendly and helpful with the menu. Tried the espresso martini and Madison mocktails. Freshly baked bread for the table was nice. The menu has a good selection but only a few mains to choose from. We ordered the frog legs, fois gras, spring rolls, escargots, mimosa salad for appetizers. Pork rib, steak frites, broiled fish and pho soup noodle. The frog legs were really delicious nicely fried and battered with chilis, salt and pepper seasonings. Meat was tender and juicy and good mastery of this dish. Foie gras and escargots were nicely done. Steak frites also nicely prepared, meat was sliced and good for family style sharing. The pork rib was nothing spectacular and didn't really live up to its own description. It was also difficult to eat, a massive pork chop on a rib that needed cutting up for one or many. The mimosa salad was really lacking. No flavour and confusing concept. After we ordered service was lacking as the server attended to other tasks. The server offered additional bread which never arrived at our table. The pork rib dish came without the appropriate cutlery so we were chasing someone for a steak knife and then it came without a fork. They didn't clear the used plates quickly or change any of our tiny small plates while we had this tapas / family style meal. The spring rolls were standard not memorable. The pho soup noodle was flavourful and salty but not too over powering like msg soups. They gave these share bowls which were standard size bowls and oddly too big. Services as really lacking at the end. They cleared the table and left half the dishes sitting there. By the time we finished dinner there were only two options for dessert which were both cookies. The menu for dessert was limited as well. Expected better dessert options from a French fusion place. Top notch dining experience in downtown Vancouver! Loved the high ceiling and ambiance the minute I walked in. Came here for a ladies night out to celebrate a birthday and it was just such a great vibe!! The food was beyond my expectations!! I love bread so i appreciated the complimentary bread to start and the refills! We ordered a number of dishes from escargots to mussels and fish. Every dish was so flavorful. My only regret was not trying the pho. I must come back! Our server kindly split our bills amongst the party of 8. We stopped by here for a weekday dinner. The restaurant was not super busy at 5 pm. We were seated right away and we ordered a 3 course meal. Food started arriving after we placed our order. The complimentary bread was served with a side of butter in a disposable sauce cup. I think the presentation can be improved there, but it was a free item. Next to arrive were our drinks. The Vietnamese iced coffee was made well and tasted as expected. Madison's drink was alright. I tasted mainly club soda with a hint of berry flavour. The steak tartare was good. The side of chips complimented it nicely. We had pho and beef wellington for our mains. They were both delicious. I added bone marrow and a sous vide egg for extra flavour to the pho. Noodles were soft. The broth was light and a bit oily. The chili vinegar added a nice kick to the pho broth. The shortcrust pastry in the beef wellington was perfection. Beef was medium rare and there was a nice duxelles, ham and peppercorn sauce. Lastly, we ordered a cream puff and lemon tart for dessert. They were served on the same plate. I would have preferred individual plates, but this restaurant was going for the casual dining experience. Dessert was also delicious. The cream puff has a good amount of custard filling. The lemon tart was lightly sweet with a hint of sour and had a perfect buttery pastry crust. No complaints on the dessert themselves. Service was average. Our server was not on top of clearing plates at times and we had to get her attention to order dessert. The kitchen was fast to get our food order completed though. Ambiance is nice. Was working on campus and my colleague recommended going to Linh Cafe nearby for lunch for some pho, as it was a chilly winter day. We walked in at 12:15pm on Tuesday and were immediately greeted and seated. We ordered one regular pho ($18.90) and one regular pho with beef marrow add on (+2.50). The server asked us if we wanted sharing bowls, which we thought strange, as we ordered our own bowls of pho, but said "yes". My bowl of pho, with the added bone marrow, came out within 8 minutes but we were left waiting for my friend's regular pho bowl for awhile. Finally, we flagged down our server and there was a miscommunication as she thought we only wanted one bowl of pho to share. The second bowl of pho was immediately put into the system and came out within a few minutes. Beef broth was really flavourful and light - perfect for a cold winter day! Beef brisket was nicely cooked and I really enjoyed the added extra bone marrow and highly recommend. At $18.90 for a regular bowl of pho, it is a bit pricey but it's a step above the regular Mom & Pop pho joints with a clearer lighter broth that doesn't lack in flavourful, in a prime DT location, and in a modern beautiful esthetic restaurant with superior service. read more

After visiting Granville Island, we decided to swing by Linh Cafe for a quick bite. We ordered their escargot, frog legs, pho and spicy baguette but I'd have to say that their amazing sauce was the star of the show. Absolutely enjoyed their frog legs (with tons of garlic) and spicy baguette, and their escargot made a fantastic topping for their complimentary bread. Unfortunately, their pho wasn't as impressive as I had hoped because I was craving some noodle soup, but if you add a hefty scoop of their amazing sauce, it's phenomenal. Hands down the most delicious bowl of pho i have ever had! Came here at a friend's recommendation and could not be happier with the choice. The bread and butter to start was soft and delectable. I paired it with the homemade chili which was the perfect kick. For my appetizer i got the country terrine which was subtle and enough to share between two. for my main i got the braised beef brisket pho with bone marrow which left me in a stupor. I was dumbfounded by just how delicious this was. It was the ultimate bowl of pho in my opinion. Set in a bustling french styled cafe Linh's was tastefully decorated and staffing was very attentive. I've been to Linh Cafe before and I decided for the ultimate test, my Vietnamese aunt would be the critic lol. We had ordered the spicy pate sticks and 2 mini pho bo as we were very hungry. The waitress did not bring us any share plates which was a bit strange considering that the menu highlights that most dishes are family style and meant for sharing. The pate sticks were good but a little bit over-powered by the spicy sauce on top. The mini pho was great! Very clear and light tasting while still having great flavour. When I asked my aunt how it was, she said it was "ok", which is pretty good as she is a tough critic. I wanted pho and my friend wanted oysters so we compromised. Food was okay. Nothing we ordered exactly wowed me. The fries were nicely fried and crispy though and the complimentary bread was nice. Our server was inattentive and they felt it....a few staff including our server asked us multiple times near the "end"of our meal how was our experience, so I told her as is which made me change my review from 2 to 3 stars. But to be honest, the whole experience was quite uncomfortable. I won't delve too much into the service, but it was definitely lacking for the price point being charged. The tables next to us finished their meal a lot earlier than us even though they came after us. I think our server simply forgot about us. We weren't even given the utensils until we asked for it after our pho was served "after" we asked them where our food might be. But let's delve into the food. The Vietnamese coffee was basically a sour coffee. (I asked for 1/2 sweet) It's not what I'm accustomed to. I like the traditional strong, bold and dripped Vietnamese coffee. And this ain't it. Thankfully my friend was okay with it so I didn't have to leave it untouched. The tartare was okay. I'm thankful another waitress (not our server) offered us more bread and water. Our waitress offered more water near the end of our meal. Pho noodles were nice, but broth lacked depth. Sort of wish they came with the option of beef balls and basil (for my friend). The Chili vinegar is nice, but I wish they gave it to us in a separate container... to just give us the jar without a lid feels unhygienic. Kusshi oysters were definitely not as plump or sweet as some other restaurants in the Vancouver area, but it was ok. Overall, I am unlikely to return. read more

Expensive for mediocre pho sums it up! I got the mini pho for $11 for lunch. The regular sized pho is $18.90. It ONLY comes with a few thin slices of braised beef brisket (and some green onions/cilantro if you want to count that). If you want additional meat, it's an add-on (eg. $5 for extra beef brisket, $8 for AAA rare beef), but you'll be paying $25+ for a simple bowl of pho. Soup is fine, but nothing special or unique. I think any neighbourhood pho place around the corner would taste about the same. The ambiance is very nice though, spacious and high ceilings. Come for the vibes, not for the food! Tuna tartare was pretty good. $24, and comes with their house-made chips. While this place was recommended, I was disappointed. The ambiance and food are decent, but not worth the price as it is overpriced, and the service is very subpar. In fact, the portions are so tiny, and the menu is disorganized. Be prepared to spend at least 40+ on food. I'd rather go to another French and Vietnamese food establishment than this joint because there is no full disclosure of portion or whether the printed menu has a clear indication of whether the dish is an appetizer. While they claim that the quality of the food is high, I'm not sure I'd agree. My friend did not like his tuna tartare because the portion was small. I'd have to agree with him. It is frustratingly tiny. The baguettes were also super tiny and did not have much filling. The terrain was a bit tough and not easy to spread. Drinks are also overpriced. For one spring roll that is chopped up in 6 pieces, it is not worth 16$. Unless there is edible gold, the food pricing should be reassessed. Another example of their lazy service was the lack of care to follow instructions and split the damage bill. It really isn't asking much, and it isn't rocket science. This is irritating, and I hate feeling inconvenienced. For the prices they charge, it is a given that the food service should be much better than what was experienced! IMO, it's not worth coming back. I'd rather try another place or go for happy hour. It is deceptively well-decorated food that is not filling, nor is it something that is mind-blowing. Great vibes, amazing food, ,terrible parking situation! Came here for lunch after hearing multiple amazing things about their complimentary fish sauce that pairs well with their complimentary bread. First off, trying to find parking here is horrendous. There's barely any parking spots available, especially with some construction going on, they blocked off even more spots. There's also a college beside so makes sense with the limited parking availability. However, we were here for the food which was great! The complimentary bread is unlimited and tastes amazing with the butter and complimentary fish sauce, which is spicy and garlicky YUM! The food: Viet coffee 7/10 - Pretty standard, nothing too over the top, but a great caffeine kick Yellowfin Tuna Tartare 9/10 - Refreshing, light and great for sharing. Tuna was fresh and light to the palette. Mussels 10/10 - A MUST GET! If i could drink the cream white wine sauce on it's own I would. Make sure to dip the bread into the sauce because it is aaaaah-mazing! banh mi cay hai phong - spicy baguette sticks 10/10 - They're small in size and looks like nothing special but it is amazing! Tasty chicken and pork liver pate inside that is creamy and flavourful. Another must get! Fresh black truffle risotto 4/10 - Skip this! Lacked flavour and didn't really taste the truffle at all. Also one of the more expensive items on the menu, sitting at $39. Fried frog legs 8/10 - It really does taste like chicken! It's super flavourful but definitely not something for me. I tried it, it was tasty, but just couldn't down it with the thought of it being frog (haha). Steak & Fries 10/10 - Originally came out as a well done steak even though we ordered medium rare. The staff were quick to fix the mistake and brought out the right order. It was such a good main dish to share with the table. Super tasty overall and great crisp to their fries. Pho Bo 5/10 - Can be a dish to skip. But was nice to have something soupy and warm. Love their fish sauce and bread items. Would be back for more! read more

We had the Fried Frog Legs, Mimosa Salad, Pho Bo, and Red Shrimp. I liked the Mimosa Salad and Red Shrimp the most. The sauce of the shrimp was delicious, especially paired with the complimentary bread they serve. I never had frog legs before; I wouldn't have ordered it for myself, but it was a good opportunity to try something new and I enjoyed the flavor. I came here with my family on a Saturday. The interior design is much brighter than their older location and the aesthetic was very clean. We ordered three side dishes to start and tried their pho and steak and frites as our main. I liked the escargot the most out of the three starters and the pho's broth was also phenomenal. This review is not 5-stars because their service could have definitely been better. The night was busy so the servers were less attentive especially, no one filled our water when the glass was empty till the end of our meal. It's reminds me of an old New York train station from another era but so much nicer and cleaner with extra high ceilings. This French Vietnamese eatery has many French dishes and a small selection of Pho and desserts. We had the following: Pho Bo which was generous with the beef brisket and noodles. The broth is excellent and flavourful without too many chemical additives. No bean sprouts, lime wedges, basil or hoisin and siracha here.
