Absolutely delicious food; fast, friendly service, can't fault it! We discovered Pho Goodness at 1150 Davie Street yesterday and are we glad we did! Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. We will return to Pho Goodness when the urge for Vietnamese food strikes again. read more

After over a week without "legit" Asian food, mom begged for us to find something near the hotel where we were staying. Never mind that we were 6 hours away from getting back to the OC...she had to have it now! So we Yelp'd Pho Goodness and off we went, after stashing our luggage with our hotel upon checkout. We arrived just after opening and were seating right away. The servers were quiet and generally efficient, bringing us all the fixin's without much comment. I ordered my usual shrimp spring rolls but when I saw their "eggroll inside a springroll" item, I decided to get that instead. It turned out to be good, though I think I would have preferred the peanut sauce rather than the fish sauce they provided. For noodles, mom and dad went with pho while I went with the spicy beef stew noodles. The beef in my noodles was properly tender. I could have had a few more pieces. I thought everything was pretty decent! The bean sprouts were fresh to boot. They were a little chintzy on the thai basil so I gave my share to the parents. Well, never again. I have been going here for at least 10 (?) years. Today I ordered a meal which comes with a spring roll. While I was standing waiting to pick it up, the woman making it literally wiped her finger under her nose, was putting food in her mouth and then (without gloves like the other people working) grabbed my roll in her hands and proceeds to poke around / cut up the roll while making up the to go meal. We were lucky enough to walk in during their first lunch hour and I was thinking it's about time another pho place opened in the village! We both had #24 Pho Tai - rare beef noodle soup. The broth was very tasty with lots of noodles and beef. Soups came with the required bean sprouts and basil which was plentiful. Not the best pho in town but it sure will give Pho Central a run for it's money! We also had the deep friend spring rolls. They were super fresh and crispy, just perfectly done without being too oily. The filling was very flavourful and just the right amount. The Bun Bo Hue at Pho Goodness was pretty decent. If I had to compare I think I enjoyed the BBH at Baoguette a little bit more (maybe the broth was more flavourful, or the noodles or the selection/cut of meat)... My friend had their grilled lemon grass chicken and she said that's what she usually orders there. It looked like it might've been the better option. Their salad rolls had cucumber sticks in it which seemed a bit weird to me....in any case, if I were in the area I'd give Pho Goodness another try! read more

This is my virgin post! Just ate here today for lunch. Ordered my usual rare beef noodle soup (Pho Tai). For some reason, my order took longer than everyone else's. But on a wet rainy Vancouver day like today, it was definitely worth the wait. Broth and beef were superb and I didn't even had to add any sauces. I like to support local but the service certainly isnt what it used to be. AND heads up... Theres as EXTRA CHARGE for a tea refill when you dine in. Ive never even heard of that. Updating this review from 4 to 5 stars. We've been here almost every week the last few months and have to say that their food is consistently good. Since the last review, I can now add that their short rib and nem noodle bowls, spring rolls and rice paper rolls are also exceptional. The noodle bowls have just enough meat and pickled vegetables to balance out the large portion of noodles. Banh mi baguettes/subs are still one of the best tasting and value items on the menu. You just gotta be quick before they run out. Service is always great and even if you have to wait for awhile to get a seat, the waitresses always come to say hello, give you a menu to peruse and once in awhile assure you that they haven't forgotten about you. read more
