There's a number in this restaurant's name, so it should be authentic (according to Ali Wong). I loved how the pho noodle soups were available in 3 different sizes (S, L, XL), all priced reasonably. I got small, and it was just right for me. I also really enjoyed the broth. The entire restaurant had a casual ambience and was relatively clean too, compared to most pho noodle places I've been to. Size small unavailable for take-outs: I was going to add a take-out order for mom at home. I wanted to get the small size pho noodle soup but was told that for take-outs, smallest size was L because they did not have the containers for small. If she didn't mention the rationale, I'd understand that small is not available for take-out. But am I the only one who doesn't see the rationale behind this? I'd understand if large can't fit into small, but....?? Nevertheless, I did order and it's was enjoyable at home too.

After another round of Kubb, I'd worked up an appetite and was ready for dinner. I had Pho Xe Lua 24 in my bookmarks (no idea how I heard about this place) so we decided to give it a try. It's a few doors down from Rain or Shine Ice Cream. We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 7:45pm). There's plenty of seating inside and it's actually quite modern compared to the usual Vietnamese spots we frequent. The ladies working are friendly but they didn't come back to refill our waters. Menu is split into appetizers, banh mi, pho, Phnom Penh special soup, rice, vermicelli and drinks. Short and simple. - Basil, bean sprouts and lime - the usual herbs but at least the basil was fresh. - Bun bo hue (#18) ($10.50 large) - thick vermicelli (aka. the normal BBH noodles), grilled onion, cilantro, thin beef slices, ham and tender beef balls. Decent but the broth was lacking in depth and flavour. They tried to mask it with spice but I ain't no newbie. There's better BBH options elsewhere in the city. - Hu tiu nam vang (#23) ($10.50 large) - Special Phnom Penh style noodle. It came with rice noodles, grilled onions, cilantro, shrimp, ham and a couple of delicious fish puff cakes. The broth was much more satisfying. Better flavour, more on the sweet side. Trip #2 Came with a few buddies on a Saturday afternoon after we played tennis in the area. - Pho dac biet (#1) ($10.75 large) - house special noodle soup. Decided to try their pho this time around. Broth was okay; a tad salty and again on the sweeter side. Good variety of meats (beef slices, beef balls and tripe) but it was run of the mill. PXL 24 was decent but there's too many good Vietnamese options to settle for just decent. Cash only!

Went here for a casual dinner with my bf and we enjoyed the place and the food. He got the XL bun bo Hue and I got a Large #23 (hu tieu Nam), and springrolls for starter. The springrolls were crispy and plentiful and delicious - I like how they came already cut up which made it easier to eat. I really enjoyed my noodles (#23) - I thought it had an authentic taste and the amount of huge. I tried a few bites of the bun bo Hue and although it was good, I thought it lacked that spicy, savoury Hue taste. Friendly service

This is exactly what you want in a Vietnamese soup restaurant. The place is clean, the price is very competitive ($14/large bowl), the service quick and friendly, and the flavour is very good. Considering it's right at Broadway and Cambie, it could easily cost a lot more. I'm giving it 5 stars: call it 3.5 for the phó and an extra 1.5 for the price, speed and convenience.

X-large was x-large. A large amount of noodles and meat; an x-large amount of broth. Everything had a good texture. Not over or under cooked. Broth was kinda typical. Borderline 4.

Love how welcoming and sweet the owner was. Me and my friend visit Phi axe Lua 24 after a concert. It was so late and this was one of the restaurant which still opened. We wasn't too hungry, and only wanted some small late night snacks. The owner didn't say anything when we only ordered two appetisers. She also chatted with us a little bit, and let us stay until it was close to closing hour. Of course, the foods and drink were yummy too.

3.5 stars. Good, not amazing, pho which hits the spot. Soup came fairly hot, could have a stronger flavour. A small pho ($9.25) is quite filling for one. I enjoyed the beef flank which had a little bit of fat and melted in my mouth. The rare beef was okay, it was already almost cooked by the time it arrived at the table. A good helping of meat. Cash only.

We came here for comfort food and had a delicious lunch!! The spring rolls are so crispy and delicious! Great for sharing!! I had a large veggie and dumpling soup and it was the largest soup I have ever seen!! So many dumplings and veggies. It was perfect!! Friendly service and plenty of seating in the smaller restaurant.

It used to be Noa restaurant and it closed down lately. Pho Xu Lua just took over the shop without renovate it and just reopen as Vietnamese restaurant. It looked the same interior which clean and modern. They have 3 sizes of pho (S, L, XL) in reasonable price. I liked the broth was super hot and not too salty, we ordered spring rolls and grilled pork paste too. Overall, the foods are good but not outstanding.

The small size is smaller than the average small pho. Pretty much the size of my pretty small fist. Finished it in 4-5 bites.

First time here, friendly staff, nice decor and clean. Broth is a bit watery but pretty decent, good quality ingredients. A couple of things that were an issue for this first visit on a Saturday night: 1. They seemed pretty understaffed. Seemed like two people running the whole place including the kitchen. We waited for a longer than average amount of time to order, get served and get the bill. Between ordering and getting the food it was probably around 20-25 minutes. Looks like they were also doing takeout orders at the same time. 2. I saw L and XL on the other tables (which were pretty damn large and I could not have finished it) and naturally assumed that the small size would logically follow the order of sizing and be enough for a meal. When it came I was actually quite shocked about the portion of noodles.. which was tiny. I finished in around 5 bites and was left with 4-5 pieces of tendon and beef with no noodles. Still hungry, I asked for an additional portion of noodles, which was another $1. To be honest, if I knew the small would be that tiny I would've ordered the large, so lesson learned. I feel like I should've been warned though, because this small size is definitely smaller than average and would be more of a snack than a meal.

A number infront of their name on the restaurant? Check. Authentic pho? Check. Family run establishment? Check. If you want legit, decently priced pho, try this place. Service is a bit iffy but hey, I'm paying for their food. The soup is just fantastic and salad rolls are always fresh. I usually order the number 1 pho on their menu. Can't go wrong with this order. Just make sure to not over cook the meat as it will get tough. I also like their rice dishes. I like the chicken dish the most as it's always nicely cooked and has great flavours. Make sure to bring cash! They don't accept card here.

Absolutely delicious lemon grass chicken vermicelli salad for takeout! I was excited by the smell and when I ate it, oh man it was so good. Cheap and reasonable sized as well!

Wings. Nice crispy crunch but flavour was not memorable. Could have used acidity eg lemon juice dip or zesty garlic-salt.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

The menu isnt big but they do have a reasonable selection of items but mostly dinner entrees We ordered a mini version of pho bo (beef broth pho), french escargot and the spicy baguette stick. The bone broth was good and the price for the mini version is good for a light lunch. We both enjoyed the spicy baguette stick with the pork pate. A pleasant surprise. However i find the escargot a bit pricey with the quantity and the way it was prepared. Slightly too oily to my personal prefence The iced vietnamese coffee we ordered tasted similar to a regular iced coffee, missing the sweet condensed milk flavor for a vietnamese coffee

My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant. The veggies were overcooked, but plentiful and nicely chosen. Decent place for veggie pho.
