    Huge Beef rib pho
    Alisha W.

Thanks to Yelp reminders - I shall finish the draft review for this pho dining experience. #Vietnamesedripcoffee #promptservice #freeparking I like Pho places that serve Vietnamese drip coffee with the silver drip filter. And this Pho place stays on my list because they still serve drip coffee using drip filters. Note: Not all Pho places offer the drip coffee experience anymore. Ordered #11 Pho Xuon Bo on the menu. And as my picture depicts, it's one huge beef rib. Broth was flavorful but I may try something diff next time since I couldn't finish the huge rib and this dish didn't come with the rare beef slices as advertised in menu photo. And I personally prefer rare beef slices or beef tendon with my Pho noodles. Service was decent and prompt - the lady filled our teas and took our order as soon as we arrived. Ambiance resembles traditional Pho places but seems more spacious than most. Also it looked like they have a Karaoke system so maybe they offer karaoke singing and could be a good choice for large group too. Cash only and they charge for takeout containers. There's street park available and free parking is always a bonus in Vancouver :)

Beef and tendon hard as rock pho

I came after reading some reviews...and I must say you're on one if you think this place is good. "Best pho in Vancouver", "highly recommend the pho with tendon"??? I got a beef and tendon pho, the broth was tasteless and has no depth, the beef wasn't good, the tendon was rock hard! I regret my decision immediately after the first bite. I've had better pho at a food court How is this place still in business with all the delicious and authentic Vietnamese restaurants around???

Was sad to hear that our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver was no longer in business. Fortunately, my wife's aunt took us to here. All of us were happy with our entree choices at Pho Long. Portion sizes were generous. Everyone had leftovers to take home and enjoy the following day. My leftovers tasted delicious! I ordered the Bbq Chicken with Vermecelli Noodles. Got to taste their Spring Rolls, and they were yummy too. Bottom line prices are reasonable, service is fine, and the food comes out quick and yummy. Pho Long is now our place to go for Vietnamese cuisine whenever we are in Vancouver.

Pho Long Vietnamese Restaurant has been around for ages. It's a few steps away from Bells & Whistles. Love the old school, 90's neon decor/vibe going on inside. Service was fast but the food came out even quicker. Took us longer to look at the menu than to get our food. The menu is split into pho, Vietnamese specialties, rice, beef stew, desserts and drinks. Every table seemed to be ordering cha gio (deep fried spring rolls). Trip #1 We dropped in on a Thursday afternoon (around 1:00pm). - Cafe sua da (#8) ($3.95) - French style iced coffee with condensed milk. Coffee is strong. - Goi cuon (#23) ($3.55) - shrimp and pork salad roll. Love how you can order them individually! Good mix of meats, daikon, carrot, lettuce and they used a thicker noodle. - Cha gio (#27) ($3.49) - deep fried spring roll with rice vermicelli. These are the real deal; done with the proper rice paper. Crispy, delicious goodness. - Herbs - they gave an abundance of bean sprouts. Basil was fresh. - Pho long dac biet (#1) ($10.25 large) - rare beef, well done brisket, flank, tendon, beef balls and tripe. The amount of meat is generous for the price and good quality. All the meats stayed tender the whole time. Broth was lighter, almost healthier if that makes sense. - Pho ga chien (#13) ($8.75 small) - BBQ chicken with rice noodles. The small was more than enough for B; she had leftovers. They give you a quarter chicken; juicy, moist and flavourful. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Wednesday evening (around 9:30pm). Pretty empty. - Hu tieu saigon (#28) ($9.75 large) - Saigon seafood with pork and rice noodles. Three shrimps, imitation crab and pork. The broth was light, sweet and slightly peppery. - Bun bo hue (#29) ($9.75 large) - decided to try their BBH which, spoiler alert, was disappointing. Broth was spicy but once you got through that note, there was no depth or flavour to the broth. It was almost bland. At least the meats (pork hock, beef slices and pork slices) were tender. No pork blood though. Would not get it again. Pho Long is cheap and open late. Just make sure to bring cash. 3.5 stars.

#1 Large Pho & #11 Small Bo Hue

Whenever I'm craving pho or a nice and crunchy spring roll, Pho Long is the place to go! I usually get the #1 classic pho in size large and spring rolls. I'm telling you... spring rolls here are a MUST! They are super crispy and juicy, and good portions as well. Nice, typical place for pho. Food comes out quickly and I find that the prices are fairly reasonable.. hence why I come here so often :)

Ok...only been here once, and not sure if I'll come here again. Believe me...if I could, I would be here often. Alas, I live far far away (San Francisco, CA, USA). This place is great! This would definitely be my go to place for pho and spring rolls! Man...I still dream about this place (and sometimes cry inside when I go to local pho places here in SF..lips stills salivating from the yummy spring rolls). I thank my Auntie for introducing this place to me. I confess, I thought the pho here in SF was great...and it is. When i visited Pho Long, expectations were average to low. Man, this place blind sided me. I give this place five stars for the wonderful food we had during our one time visit...one that makes me crave this place and miss it. I ordered the beef ball pho (large w/extra noodles). The taste of the broth was great!...had a quality to it..properly flavored (not just a salty taste with slight hint of some sort of meat, that you'll find in some pho places). The noodles were al dente...the way I like them. And the beef balls were right. I like how they put the extra noodles on the side with broth. My Auntie ordered chicken pho, which was served differently from what I'm used to. The chicken was served on the side, like an order of BBQ/roast chicken...like you would find on a Vietnamese rice plate order. Seemed like five spice. I liked this order also. The fried spring rolls....man, do not pass on these. If you like spring rolls, order these...well, well worth it. I'd have to say these are my favorite spring rolls...which saddens me since I can't have them when I want. The texture of the wrap is different from what I'm used to(....the fried wrap seems to have bubbles..not smooth). So damn good...I'm almost crying at the moment. One thin I noticed..after our meal, I wasn't thirsty as usual when eating pho. Not sure if maybe they don't use as much MSG as other places? Or maybe pho is done differently in Canada? Hmm.. I miss this place =(

Bug in my food and served was advised and I still had to pay for my food

I found a bug in my food and advised the server and she said oh no and said ok you don't pay. When I finished eating and went to cashier to tip them she told me I had to pay. Wow

    Bun Bo Hue
    Jennifer Y.

For some reason I walked in with high expectations. Maybe it was the bright neon lights. Who knows. The Bun Bo Hue was just okay. I think it was the broth that seemed a bit underwhelming. I'm no expert but I personally feel that, in general, the broth plays a big part in whether or not I would enjoy my BBH. And this was really just, A-OK. I would come back again to try their other items because the dishes on the surrounding tables looked pretty darn good.

rare beef, well done flank, brisket, soft tendon and tripe
    Mark M.

After coming here several times, I finally got around to checking in. Not sure why that is because I'm normally quite good at doing that. I think I might have to blame all of the neon that lights up this funky pho joint distracting me from checking in. :-) The first couple of times my friend and I came here, we had large slices of daikon radish in our bowls. Delicious. Every subsequent time since then, they weren't there, but you could still taste their influence in the broth. We made a point of asking about them the last time we were in and the server was a bit confused at first until she said, "You want white carrot." Ahhh... there you go. They were soft enough to cut with your chopsticks, but firm enough to still pick up and added that little extra to the flavor profile of the broth. Perfect. As usual, I ordered a bowl with every meat in it. A generous portion of meats with the exception of tripe this time. The huge chunks of tendon more than made up for it though. The giant fish tank as soon as you walk in, all of the neon everywhere, the copious fake plants, and the big screen TV playing Vietnamese shows (this time was Celebrity Dancing) all add to the ambiance that can't be beat. I love coming here.

    Salad Roll

The weather wasn't great today, but according to the weather report it was suppose to be good. Based on that bum weather report I took out my bike and rode out to Van Dusen Gardens to meet up with a friend for lunch. It was a might nippy out today and in the biting wind I made it from Downtown to Van Dusen in less than 30 minutes. My friend drove us to Pho Long Vietnamese Restaurant for lunch. I ordered the a salad roll, rare beef and tendon noodle soup, and a Vietnamese ice coffee: The salad roll was awesome: meaty with lots of filling and a generous supply of peanut sauce. The pho (or noodle dish) was not as good. My big complaint is the meat they used seemed sub standard. Filled with fat and funky tough pieces of meat some of it was truly not edible. My friend ordered the lemon grass chicken with rice. His dish looked really good. My review is based on what I eat, but if I come back here again I'm going to order a rice dish like his. Ok... The Vietnamese coffee was good. Nice and strong. Not the cheap ass weak stuff I often get from other Vietnamese restaurants. The restaurant itself was pretty clean. Certainly well above average in cleanliness for a Vietnamese restaurant. Service was touch slow. Considering there was only maybe 5 active tables during their lunch rush I felt they could have hustled their asses a bit more. I intend to come back to Pho Long to try out their rice dishes next time!

    No.1 house special

We always come for their lemen grass chicken on rice. I normally don't get chicken at other places because it can be easily over cooked so it could be burnt or dry, certainly not a problem here. It's always juicy and tender. Pho is large and they are generous with bean sprouts as well. The only problem with this place is its hygiene as we find either the floor or table is wet. I would give food a 4 but 3 for the environment. Nonetheless, it's a good place for a quick bite especially if you are craving for a large bowl of pho or chicken on rice. There's free parking on the side of the building as well.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant.
