The waitresses were very nice. My boyfriend and I went at 4pm on Friday so there was no crowd. We ordered fountain drinks and Texas toothpicks. The appetizer was good. I ordered the blackened catfish, Mac and cheese and baked potato soup. The catfish was very salty, the Mac and cheese was bland and the soup was extremely watery. My BF ordered the grilled pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Everything on his plate was delicious. The pork chops were very tender. I was turned off by the flies. I gets that it's not an upscale restaurant but there's nothing okay about having flies fly on and around your food inside of a restaurant. I've been to worse places but I wouldn't go back. read more

Stopped here for a late lunch on Saturday. I ordered the jalapeno burger and onion rings. The burger was thick and juicy, cooked perfectly. The bread was fresh, it kind of reminded me of the bread you would get in New Orleans. The onion rings were fantastic! They were thick and hand cut. The batter was crispy and not greasy. When we asked about what kind of cheese was in the delicious queso, the waiter went to the kitchen to ask and told us it was a special Mexican velveeta. My wife and I had the chicken fried steak. It was good, but I prefer mine with a bit more spice. The baked potato and Brussels sprouts sides were good as well. My daughter enjoyed the quesadillas. We have been to TT in the past when a band was playing, and it was a good experience. The only thing I didn't like on our most recent trip was that the large queso was too big for the amount of chips that were brought, and we were charged for a chips refill. Prices may be a little on the high side, but are not extreme. Daily lunch and weekend dinner specials are offered. We will return and I would like to try the catfish next time. read more

First off food was good. Wife had BLT and I had Grilled Chicken Salad. Service was good. Now the bad. The seating is way too close and unfortunately, they practice zero guidelines when it came to distancing. When I say close, I mean I have sat on airplanes and ate with more distance apart. The waiter was wearing a mask. However the lady working the bar, serving drinks, To Go orders and helping serve the tables was NOT wearing a mask. We said something to our waiter, nothing changed, other than a "glare" from her every now and then. I could not wait to get out of this restaurant. It felt like I was in a "petri-dish." It's a shame they are not following any guidelines as the food was really good. Maybe we will give them another shot in about a year when (hopefully) this pandemic is over. "I read reviews before going to an unfamiliar restaurant". What drew me to this one was "friendly staff", and "old fashioned hang off of the plate chicken fried steak". The staff was wonderful! Yes friendly, kind, and informative. While my wife and I were enjoying our spectacular appetizers chicharrones and queso, and fried pickle chips I was watching the staffs interaction with one another. There was one lady who seemed to be an owner or manager and two teenagers or early 20 something's taking orders and bringing the food. There was wonderful and respectful conversation between the three of them. Yes my chicken fried steak was wonderful. It was thin and tender with a great crust and hanging nicely over the edge of my plate. The country gravy was very flavorful. Kudos to the kitchen staff for knocking this meal out of the park. I have been to Texas Tradition about 6 times over the last 3 years (we moved to Katy from SE Asia 3 years ago). Today, I had the chicken fried steak for the first time. It was absolutely delicious. Service was very good, as we were the only ones there, and the food looked amazing. I got the small portion with their amazing onion rings as an adder. I got both country gravy and a side of brown gravy. Glad I did that. I want to do this whole experience again. read more

This place has home cooking down! We've eaten here many times for breakfast but just tried out their dinner. Friday night was all you can eat catfish and boy were we happy campers! The catfish was fresh, moist and breaded and fried perfectly. I had the chicken fried chicken with a house salad and baked potato soup. No shortage on calories, but well worth the splurge! They had live music playing in the outdoor enclosed patio which was a fantastic backdrop to dinner. Quick service and our sweet teas were full and nary needed a refill asked for our server was on it. The bacon cheeseburger was good, huge patty, not too over cooked, but not real pink either. Too much lettuce on the burger made it hard to hold together, get yours without lettuce and I think you'll have yourself a legit chance of keeping it all together. The cajun fries were only lightly seasoned and I think they were good but nothing to write home about. Let me just say, chicken fried steak and white gravy make the list of things that deeply offend me (along with Hawaiian pizza, in case anyone's interested...). That statement now is followed by the disclaimer that it's true in every circumstance except when Texas Tradition is involved. This is apparently a Katy staple and I now see why. The walls are adorned with Texas flags and license plates, and the rest of the dining room is simply no fuss, leaving plenty of room for the star of the show - the food. It's not fancy, it's not exotic. It's just. plain. goodness. Disclaimer on the burgers: you can only eat them with your hands if you 1) cut them in half and 2) are feeling extra adventurous. Otherwise, these guys require a fork, knife, and plenty of extra napkins. It's all well worth it. Disclaimer on the chicken fried steak: if you don't order this dish, you are doing yourself a disservice. I strongly recommend a side of mashed potatoes with white gravy - and fried okra.
