Really nothing bad can be said about this place. as a matter of fact, not only is a great entrepreneurial study. It is probably one of the better Greek restaurants in Houston. First, let's talk about the service which is extremely efficient you order at the counter and the weight staff brings out your meal shortly thereafter. The ambience is very plain like a diner very simple but very clean and so if you wanna grab some wonderful Greek food especially a Gyro you'll find no place better at least on the west side of town. The salads are wonderful of which I had a Greek why not I'm in a Greek restaurant but it was chalk full of wonderful, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, and had a great dressing. In addition, I had a Gyro, which I really didn't even eat until later that day because the salad alone was filling. The owner happen to be in on this particular day as he often is in his restaurant. Lamb gyro 9.5/10 great flavor, lots of meat filling, and tasted great with the Greek garlic got sauce. I do wish there was more onions and maybe even some cucumbers on this. My husband got the Italian beef and sausage combo sandwich. It came loaded with giardinera and peppers and onions, and a side of au jus. This was delicious! 9/10. Chili fries were great. I love the way they fry their fries. It doesn't get soggy with the chili which is rare. 10/10. The baklava comes in a really big portion. It it has a heavy cinnamon flavor, I believe it is a walnut baklava. Really nice treat, which we ended up taking home to eat because the meal was so big. 7.5/10 The interior looks like a 50's style diner, with lots of sports memorabilia. We got a burger, hot dogs, and the loaded Philly cheesesteak fries. Everything was great and fresh. Not oily at all. The burger was my favorite. It has this unique texture that is hard to describe but it's really great for $8.99. You can get it for cheaper during their happy hour. The fries were really good, nice texture being crispy and fluffy on the inside. The hot dog was good but something about the chili was putting me off and I'm not sure what. Maybe a spice like nutmeg or something which I particularly hate in my savory food. There was also an insane amount of mustard that it was pouring off with each bite. I'd try another hot dog in the future but I really recommend the burger, fries, and their gyros. They serve off brand sodas. The interior is nicely decorated and very clean. We have seen Papa Gyro's videos on social media he seemed very friendly and welcoming. So the family and I decided to stop by and give them a try, and man let me tell you it was definitely worth it! Chris the owner was not only friendly but the hospitality was amazing. He walked around to his customers asking them if everything was okay and speaking them everyone as an owner should do with their customers for a more personal experience. The food was amazing we literally almost tried everything he had to offer. We had one small hiccup in our order and Chris took care of it no questions asked. The restaurant was clean, the music was beautiful with its 50's and 60's music playing, just an overall great place. We had a wonderful first time experience with Chris and it will not be our last. While visiting Houston on a solo business trip, I knew I had to take advantage of the freedom to pick my own meals and see what kind of hidden gems I could find. I first looked at the most recent Yelp 100 to see if anything was reasonably close to my hotel in Katy, and lucky me, Pappa Gyros wasn't too far away! The old school dinner aesthetic was welcoming and cozy. The laminated menu had so many items, front and back, that sounded delicious! I couldn't choose, so I asked the gal at the cash register what a popular chose is for someone who has never been. She recommended Taki's Combo Plate which had a little bit of everything--lamb, souvlaki, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), pilaf, and I chose to substitute fries rather than a salad. The food was so good--extremely authentic! Souvlaki is one of my favorite foods, and Pappa Gyro did not disappoint. The flavor and char was just right. I ended up eating nearly everything on my plate! I was also impressed their Koulourakia (Greek Easter Cookies). They were nearly as good as my mom's! Pappa Gyros is definitely worth going out of your way for a bite to eat! I am so glad I drove a little extra to be able to enjoy during my most recent trip to Katy. The food was stellar. We are midwesterners who are always looking for midwestern food, so when we saw Katy had some, we thought we would try it. The first impression was that it was very clean! The staff was very nice and friendly. They explained everything to us. We ordered some food to eat now and an order to go. They also had Hershey ice cream, which is my husband's favorite so I knew we would be getting dessert as well. I tried the strawberry cheesecake and it was really good! I've been here a couple of times and had really good experiences overall. The first time, I dined in. The interior aesthetic is really nice and cute. It feels like a Greek diner. Not something you see very often. The second time, I tried to use the drive-thru, but the speaker didn't work so I assumed their drive-thru just wasn't working. I went inside to place an order and when I asked if their drive-thru was down, the person at the counter said "it should be working" lol I think people were just driving up to the window to order as opposed to the speaker. If this is still the case when you come, check the order window. Tip: All the gyros come LOADED with meat! I order extra pita bread to make extra bites with the meat that doesn't fit in the gyros lol I also get extra tzatziki because they never give enough. Try it out, it's worth it! ORIGINAL GYRO: Delicious, of course! The lamb was moist and flavorful. They use Greek pita bread so it's thick, soft, and fluffy, just the way I like it. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't enough tzatziki sauce, but that's easily fixed by getting extra on the side next time. CHICKEN GYRO: If you're not feeling lamb, a great option! I personally like the lamb better, but this was still delicious in almost all the same ways! Moist and flavorful! THE PAPPA GEORGE GYRO: I think this may be my favorite gyro from here so far! I only had a bite, but the mix of lamb and chicken seemed to elevate the flavor compared to just the original lamb or chicken gyros. PHILLY THE GREEK GYRO: My bf ordered this, so I only had a bite, but he and I agreed it was good. I feel like it would've been too heavy for me if I had to eat the whole thing, but that didn't seem to bother him. He did end up very full from just one though lol ONION RINGS: These were SO GOOOOD! Maybe the best onion rings I've ever had! They had a great crunch and flavor, and were sliced nice and thick! Wasn't expecting to find a hidden gem when I ordered them but I'll definitely be getting them every time I come back now! GYPSY FRIES: The actual fries were really good--well-seasoned and delicately crispy. The toppings were honestly way too heavy though when paired with a gyro. You'd probably be better off getting the gyro fries or plain fries and dipping them in a lighter sauce or condiment. FETA FRIES: Good, if you like feta. There was a dipping sauce or dressing? Not sure what it was, but it complimented the feta fries really well. Definitely liked these better than the gypsy fries lol read more

My husband has loved this place since it was at a gas station near our house. Nothing we've ever gotten has been bad. Today he got chicken gyro loaded fries with a side Greek salad and drink. I got Tacos a La Grekka with a side of hummus and a drink. This is my first time with the tacos and they are my new favorite!! They were very good. You don't need the side of red sauce or tzatziki but they both added nice flavor to the tacos. I could only eat 2 of the 3 tacos and shouldn't have gotten the hummus cuz my tacos were more filling than I thought. I do love their hummus though. The red sauce is some sort of pepper sauce that is so good. It has a really great flavor with a hint of spiciness. My husband's fries were really good too. Their fries are tasty, nice crisp outside. He cleaned his plate and just kept talking about how much he loves the place. They also have desserts but we were just too full. Maybe next time. read more

I went to this Greek Restaurant once before when it was in the gas station. It was small, and there was hardly any space to sit. Since then, they have opened a large, beautiful, modern restaurant in the North part of Katy. The place is clean, has great parking, and has a nice atmosphere. Employees were meh. I had to hunt down a person to clean my table and later talk to someone about the food. I had mixed reactions to the food. The Chicago dog was delish, but the Italian beef was terrible. The manager told me that was just how they fixed it, but it was completely sopping wet, so much so that the bread fell through the fork. The manager did take the food back and put it on a new piece of bread and brought me the au jus in a container, which was a good solution. I did eat some of it, but I didn't care for it. I will give them another visit but will focus on the hotdogs. read more

I was so excited to see the special Fish/seafood Lenten menu. My Mom and I both ordered the Fried Clam Strip Basket. Who else is serving fried clams Katy?!? I had my with a Vernor's ginger ale. It reminded me of eating at Howard Johnson's when I was a little kid! The desserts looked good - but we were stuffed! Another person in our party order a bowl of the Detroit-style chili. This is not your Tex-mex chili, and no beans either! It's warm, tasty, and filling. The staff is friendly. My wife shared her Soutzoukakia Plate, Greek baked meatballs slathered in red sauce and feta cheese, came with Greek salad, and rice.....which she skipped....and pita bread. Hers was almost as good as mine. I thoroughly enjoyed and shared the Gyros plate which came with twice as much meat as their gyro sammy, it came with the same three sides, I should have kicked in a dollar more for hummus and pita so we could try more stuff....next time.
