So far I've eaten the Prime Rib , best I've eaten in years, really thick and juicy:?the Rib Eye , super tender and cooked perfectly (medium rare): today it was Chicken Fried Steak again! Perfect Tender Juicy meat breaded and fried to a golden crispy crunch. Wifey also had the catfish it has a fabulous breading with just a hint of nutmeg. The jalapeño hush puppies shut this puppy up! I'll order them again. Last week I ordered the BLT , really tasty but you have to insist on 3x bacon (!bacon rationing is in place) The burgers here are as good as any I've ever eaten in any boutique burger place. It's a huge 1/2 pound hand pressed hunk of meat on a fresh baked bun; very juicy and loaded with flavor! You need to get on over here, or they have take out too! read more

All I can say is I love Steak! I have eaten $100 steaks that were horrible and $20 steaks that were amazing. Just moved to Katy and wanted to try this location. All I can say is that I was highly disappointed. I could literally taste the freezer in this steak. First time I didn't finish a steak nor bring the leftovers to my dog. Maybe I caught y'all on a bad day. However, there is no excuse for freezing your steaks. Especially having them frozen long enough to taste freezer burnt. Three stars only because I love to support local small business and do not want to cause any real harm. Get it together guys! read more

Was in town and had a hankering for chicken fried steak. This place was recommended by many and so we did takeout. I got the small chicken fried steak with fried green tomatoes and a side salad. The side salad was tasty with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I wished the fried green tomatoes came with some dipping sauce as it was a cornmeal breading that was fairly bland. Mentioned to me by a friend. Three of us went for late lunch. Food: I had Chicken Fried Chicken, baked potato and green beans. Another had Chicken Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans and the third person had the Seafood Platter. Results: Chicken was rubbery, like cheapo or cooked from frozen perhaps, baked potato was a day or two old. Mashed potatoes were good. Green beans were canned and flavorless. Seafood Platter was almost all fried tomatoes, fried okra. Crab cakes were horrible. Fried shrimp were ok at best and not jumbo and not butterflied. Catfish was tiny and not fresh. Texas Toast was legit. One person had apple crisp with ice cream for dessert. Apples were overcooked. Ice cream was legit. Atmosphere: Dark, blinds closed to save on AC bill, uncomfortably warm, very dated as if its never been updated since 2002. Oriented strand board unpainted ceiling. Staff: As mentioned in other reviews, only teenaged male high school boys. No single server per table. They were all wearing political shirts. Overall: $80 including tip. Never again! My party tried a variety of foods. The burger was quantity over quality - huge, bland (no seasoning on the meat), with a big bun and a lot of condiments. I wouldn't order again. My friend had the potato soup and a salad. The salad was cold, on a cold plate, and what you'd expect. The potato soup had separated into two liquids by the end of the meal. My buddy who never complains got the most delicious, fluffy looking chicken fried steak but sent it back because he said it was tough as nails. He said he thought it could have been double cooked. They took it to the kitchen without question and my friend ordered something else. The one plate which looked the best and got the highest review was a fried seafood platter. We have been here before but always got a burger or sandwich. This time my husband and I got a dinner entree. He got Chicken Fried Steak and I got Chicken Fried Chicken. Both were absolutely delicious. We don't indulge in comfort food very often so this was a real treat. We love the laid back atmosphere and the wait staff was so friendly. They were super busy but didn't have to wait long for a table. It took a bit for us to get our food but not too bad. Like I said they were super busy and we were not in a hurry. Well worth the wait. We were traveling in our RV from Mexico and planned to stop here for dinner. I called ahead to make sure they were open due to Covid19 closings. They were serving take out and curbside but were closing at 8 pm. We weren't going to get there in time and were so disappointed! When they heard that they said no worries, call us at 8:00 with your order and we'll bring it out to your vehicle when you get here. We arrived at 8:30 and they brought our meals right out. As others noted, it doesn't look like much when you drive by, but we were recommended this place so decided to stop by and give it a try. Inside it's decorated very rustic with lots to look at on the walls. The staff was all very friendly and attentive. For appetizers we got the Texas toothpicks and fried pickles. I was worried the jalapenos would be too spicy but they were just flavorful without much of the heat. Tasty! The fried pickles breading was unusual, kind of thin, yet good flavor and stuck to the pickle slices well. A lot of places the breading slides off which this does not do. My husband ordered the brisket burger with fries. He said the cheddar jalapeno bun was spicier than the appetizer jalapeno which he liked. He felt the brisket was a bit dry but the burger was huge. Had to take some home. The fries he felt could have been crispier. My son ordered the seafood platter with catfish, crab cake and fried shrimp. he loved all of it and thought the breading had nice flavor but again, the portions were large so took some home. I ordered the small chicken fried steak and was astonished at the size when it arrived as it was as big as other places normal serving. The country gravy was good and had some seasoning to it, but I really miss sausage country gravy I used to get in the Midwest. No one seems to sell the dish this way here. So, overall was good. breading was crisp and the meat was tender. The mac and cheese I felt was a bit bland, but the mashed potatoes were very good. We shared a peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert which everyone felt was just like homemade. All in all, we would definitely come back and try more dishes. Meh. We were headed for a national chain, when my husband -- who had spent the last two days in downtown Katy for the (sadly diminished) Rice Harvest Festival mentioned Texas Tradition. The restaurant was more than half empty, but we we're sat in a add-on back room. Typical folksy, rustic, faux-dive atmosphere. Prompt, polite, friendly service from our high-school student server. We ordered the Fried Mushrooms appetizer at his recommendation. Typical but tasty. My husband enjoyed his Chopped Steak & Onions with corn on the cob and (canned?) green beans. I didn't not enjoy my dinner. I opted for the Steak Kabob thinking it would be a lighter entree. The baked potato was fluffy, hot, and appropriately sized and served with a DIY toppings carousel. However, the steak pieces were gamey, chewy, and overly charred for Medium-Well. They were Medium in the center and burned on the outside. And one of the green pepper slice was completely black. I requested some A-1 from another server. She asked about my steak, and did offer me the option of another entree when I mentioned I didn't really like my first taste of the kabob. They do truly have best burger in Katy, love that it's locally owed and operated, they have daily lunch specials, and variety of options on their menu reasonably priced and offer both indoor and outdoor dinning. They do offer a grilled chicken or seafood if your looking to stay on your weight watchers points but today I decided to indulge a bit. Definitely be back with kids and next time have to try the peace cobbler. read more

I was driving through Katiy trying to figure out where to eat lunch, this restaurant had the most cars so I figured I'd go there. Ordered a chicken fried steak dinner because it look like that was what just about everybody in there was eating. (I actually rarely order a chicken fried steak maybe once a year) I will tell you that was probably one of the best chicken fried steaks I've ever had the mashed potatoes was real the gravy was great. My wife got the lunch special which was a hamburger steak it was also very good. food came out within five minutes and the staff was extremely friendly. Our family tried dinner here for the first time tonight. We started with a bowl of queso which was made with a white cheese and was flavorful, hot and delicious. Our table ordered chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese (kids), a hamburger and a Salisbury chopped steak. Everything was cooked beautifully and we enjoyed ever bite (but there was such large portions we couldn't finish). We discovered they had live music and a play area for kids on the back patio.
