Went on Friday night and I was surprised we were able to get table. Next door the Yard House had an hour and a half wait. That should have been my first clue the food sucked. The waitress was fine and I had no issue with her service. I ordered a cocktail she recommended which was great. They had no kid drinks so my 3 year old daughter was given an enormous cup of orange juice that she had to stand up on the seat to drink. I ordered potato skins for appetizer and it was terrible. The potatoes were burnt outside and very undercooked inside. The bacon pieces were clumped together and very hard. I ordered my daughter the kid fish stick meal. The french fries were cold. The fish sticks were ok. I ordered enchiladas with chicken and cheese. The cheese was not put inside. It was a bowl of cold shredded cheese put on the plate. Wtf! The enchilada tortilla was hard as a rock on the bottom. I tried to eat it but it was way overcooked or stale. I hardly had any green sauce and asked for more. The chicken in the enchilada was fine. The beans and rice were good. My mom ordered ribs. The ribs were cold and hard as was the corn on the plate. We complained to waitress but she did not seem to care. She said sorry and walked away. This place had a great atmosphere and our waiter Jeff was perfectly conscious of when we were trying to eat, when we seemed like we needed something, and he didn't screw around with getting things done. The drinks were good (Banana margarita and a "Zombie"), but not as exotic as I would have hoped for their prices. I was starving and kept walking back and forth deciding what to eat when we finally settled on this place. I asked to be seated outside for the beautiful view, but when our food arrived, we asked to be reseated inside because it was freezing outside. Our waiter was nice and gladly reseated us. We ordered a chicken dish and the carne asada steak plate, and the steak was amazing. I highly recommend the carne asada dish because this dish is the one that would make me return. Went to dinner here with a friend and her mother and we sat in the bar because the wait was 30 min for a table. It's a full service bar, so there was no difference. The fire up front looks fun. We sat at the bar for a little appetizer and a couple of drinks and we were greeted by a not so nice personality. Not bad, but not so nice. So I figured if we ask for his name, maybe we will make him care. At the moment he seemed to light up. Unfortunately that was short lived. We got our food and drinks. BTW, we asked for a little ranch dressing, and they said: "it's $1.50, is that okay?" It didn't really matter to us. Tequila Jack's has a great location on the Pike pier and the ambience is quite nice. It's an upscale look with yummy food. Taco Tuesday seems to be a fan favorite, but be warned that it is incredibly busy because of this. The staff is patient with the crowds, but it can be very loud and rowdy while waiting to be seated. This became a place for us to take visiting family and friends since the location provided a nice view and other things to do before or after eating. The prices are a bit steep for Mexican food, outside of Taco Tuesday, and that's a turn off, but the other points balance it out. I have also noticed that the place is starting to be a little run down. The tables and chairs are starting to show age and the floors and tables are often sticky. Just something to note. read more

You came over to our table to make a party of six feel unwelcomed and stupid because you think we were trying to get out of paying $3?! Here's the story... We walked over to Tequila Jack's after being told it would be a 35-40 minute wait at the Yard House. No wait here which was good because the six of us were hungry! Two of us ordered House Cadillac Margaritas but with 1800 instead of their house tequila - one with salt instead of tajin. We agreed to the $3 up charge per drink. Simple right? They both came out lined with tajin. The nice waitress apologized and took it back. She returned with a salted rim marg but it was clearly made with their house tequila and not the 1800 I agreed to pay extra for. Three of us did a taste test and all agreed this new drink was with cheaper tequila - a little bitter, not as smooth, even the color was different. The waitress apologized again but my friend, who doesn't like to complain, told her he'll just keep it at this point. As we're enjoying the weather, gabbing, munching on chips and salsa, a guy comes up to our table. "I'm the manager and I saw the bartender make this with 1800 before he handed it to me." No 'Hi, welcome, sorry for the mixup with the first drink.' Nada. I told him several of us tried both drinks and agreed there's a distinct difference. His response: "I made the drink myself and I made it with 1800." You just said you watched the bartender make the drink! Which is it?! I didn't want to argue because our food hadn't come yet and I didn't want it served with any "special sauce" just in case. He walked away and made a face. Yup, caught that. To make matters worse, everyone got their food, but my chicken burrito (average at best) came out after everyone was half way done with their dishes. The $3 was never taken off the bill. But here's what your $3 got you, Tequila Jack's manager - a poor review on Yelp, which will be followed by the same review on TripAdvisor, again on Google then followed by the all powerful word-of-mouth. All that and a headache for me as a result of finishing the drink with the cheap tequila. It's no wonder there was a wait at Yard House and available open tables here. read more

Nope! Don't do it! Don't take more than four people there. They don't accommodate you outside unless you want to sit under the stairs for people to walk down and sprinkle dirt on your food. The waitress was nice so I tipped well. But the managers were vengeful. How can 4 different credit cards be rejected? I have stellar credit and elite credit cards. They got mad and sabotaged perfectly good credit cards because I publicly asked for a bigger table for 5 people and didn't want to sit under the stairs. They played me. He had great knowledge of the menu he was able to recommend me a dish and drink great service all around. This type of server is hard to find. The parking was $2 after Validation. From start to finish and then some, the absolute worst dining experience I've ever had. Seated quickly which was nice, but it took way to long to get a high chair for my two year old. I had to ask a random food runner about 5 minutes after we were seated to get one. Then as our server got to our table we were rudely asked what we wanted to drink and what appetizers we wanted. We didn't want an appetizer but ordered our drinks, soda for my fiancé and a Modelo for me. Everything is fine at this point till drinks get delivered and my beer had been served in a glass that clearly had tajin still on it from a previous drink. Probably a michelada. So my beer was served in a dirty glass. When the server finally came back over after about 10 minutes of walking by and ignoring our table I informed her my glass was dirty and I would really appreciate a a clean glass and a new beer. She simply couldn't understand the problem. So I said there was old tajin from a previous drink and the light bulb finally went off. (I know it's not her fault since she doesn't clean the glasses) a few moments later the "new" beer shows up and she takes our order. A salad for my fiancé, chicken soft tacos for me and some chicken fingers for the kiddo. Oh, come to find out they're out of chicken fingers at 1130 on a Sunday? Ok that makes sense. Let's just chalk that up to covid. No big deal. So our server leaves and I go to take a sip of a freshly poured Modelo. Wrong. Flat, soapy and absolutely disgusting. Clearly my drink was poured from the previous tainted beer glass and the new glass wasn't rinsed out properly. One sip and spit back in. The food comes out and it was underwhelming at best. 15 bucks for 2 street tacos with some mediocre rice and most likely canned black beans, an insanely overdressed salad and obviously no chicken fingers. The food was unforgettable for the most part. The problem is my PREGNANT fiancé has been sick all day because of it. Our server ignored us and walked right by our table about 5 times before I had to call for her to get our check. (Which still had the soapy contaminated beer on it.) That got taken off but the fact that I even had to say something about it is astounding. I am at the point where, if my 2 year old daughter and I get sick too, I'm going to contact a lawyer for the absolute gross negligence of this place. We had out of town guests visiting us for the holiday; searching for a restaurant, my wife recommended we go to the Tequila Jack's in Long Beach. She bragged about Tequila Jack's restaurant, about its nice setting and her previous pleasant visits. When we got there our guests were very impressed with the restaurants beautifully setting. Problem we encountered was when we were trying to order the food. My guest ordered the famous Fajita dinner plate. He asked the waitress to hold the onion in the plate since he was allergic to the onions. To our surprise the waitress informed us that the vegetable mixed in the fajita was pre-mixed and the cook would not make an exception to accommodate the request. She said my guest was to get the Fajita dish with the onions and that there will be no exceptions. Since when does the cook in the kitchen make the decision for the customers? Why would any one go to a fancy restaurant if you can't ask the kitchen to hold the onion? A simple request that even a fast food restaurant would honor for their customer's. We shall never return to this snobbish establishment. I suggest you do the same. read more

TJ's: My go to Taco Tuesday spot for about 6 months now. It's nitty, it's gritty, and sometimes the crowds a little ghetto. They have $5 margaritas in SCHOONERS( basically a jumbo glass) and plot twist. Are you ready?..... AMAZING chicken strips! The girls here really take care of you and I appreciate that especially on Tuesday's when this place is nuts, I'm talking upwards of two hours for a table. I hadn't been to the restaurant in years was very pleased (and surprised) by the look, feel, energetic atmosphere, terrific food, and the best margarita I've in a long time. Vanessa, our server was gracious and very attentive to the boys, making them feel special. She gave us moms, the time and space to talk, chill out on the beautiful patio while enjoying our drinks, meals, and the Mexican Molten Chocolate Cake - while boys hunted Pokémon. Came in on a Saturday and the place was packed. They seem to have it together cus we only waited for outside seating for twenty minutes. The outside seating has a great view of the pier and they have a huge menu-with VEGETARIAN OPTIONS & our server, Cierra was awesome! They have a "you pick two" entree for $13.50 or "you pick three" for $15.50 and it is HUGE PORTIONS. The veggie tacos and enchiladas are a must try! Their house margarita is also pretty strong. Yard House was mediocre when we went next door to Tequila Jack's I wish I would've listened to him the entire time! Literally got there went straight to seating by such a nice host and then met the best waiter we've ever had in our life before!
