I haven't flown in a while, but I stopped by for a drink before my flight and immediately recognized Giovanna, not by face alone, but because her customer service had genuinely stuck with me. First timer here and I must say that I was disappointed by the service. Our waitress kept changing. Each one took a really long time checking on us, placing our order, we had to keep flagging someone down to help us. Each waitress seemed bothered and annoyed. We didn't even know there was complimentary bread until the very end of our meal. We sat outside and had incredible sunset views. Live music was great. I ordered the braised short ribs and it was delicious. Really great melt in your mouth flavor. Would have been better if we had the freshly baked bread to pair with it. Overall, the experience could have been better and being that I am a stickler for customer service I don't know if I will be back again or even recommend it. Went Sunday with a party of 9. Sat out on the patio, and the views are amazing (of course). Service was good, attentive, and accommodating. We miscounted our party and needed a larger table. It was no issue, they obliged quickly. The music was great! There was an artist singing and playing the steel drums and it made the experience vibrant and fun. Now the food.... loco moco was the winner. The Bayside omelette was not.... neither was the calamari. The sushi was good enough, and the other dishes were edible but mediocre at best. All in all, I'd go back and get the loco moco. read more

We had an awesome experience with Bert (server) I made reservations for 5:45 pm on a Wednesday. We got there by 5:10 and we got our table right away. Free parking. There was a promotion for $14.95 plates to the first 200 people. We barely made it as they only had 8 more filet mignon dinners at 5:15 pm. You can order from the Happy Hour menu from 4 to 6 pm from your table. We ordered the sushi crunchy roll $12, 4/5, pork sliders 5/5 $10, and the Marine Mimosa 5/5 $10. The restaurant had very nice views of the marina and sunset. There was a singer outside in the patio and they also have TV's in the bar area with sports channel. The brownie cheesecake was delicious 5/5 $16. I will definitely return and try other dinner items. read more

Here to celebrate one of my diamond girls birthday. We had a party of over 16, and I made reservations, but they did require a $100 deposit. They only require that deposit if you have a large party. Oh, I forget to mention that there is plenty of FREE parking. We order a little bit of everything. We also ordered a bottle of champagne with three different juices for mimosas. Guys! My friend sent me their IG post about $14.99 dinner plates for 3 days and 1 of them was a nice chunky piece of steak! I said, "Let's go!" I didn't know they did this weekly! The rest of us, last minute peeps, would've missed out! Had it not been for the bad area being open... we were told by the patio host, yesterday (Wednesday) that it was gonna be a 1.5 hr wait, since tons of people made reservations! Darn it! But the hostess said the bar area is first come, first served! So we put our names down, just in case, and went to the bar area. Thank God we did... because it got PACKED super fast!!! We didn't sit AT the bar, since I had my son and he's only 12 but we got a perfect bar table seating! And lucky enough, my friend who invited us out knew the server! Jessica was amazing! Took our orders super fast. And before we could get our drinks, our food was DELIVERED to us! Good! I was starving! Only had protein shake all day! THANK YOU, Jessica! We all got the steak (see pics) and my son got an Arnold Palmer, my friend got the strawberry fields mocktail and I got the blueberry mocktail. Her friend got a watermelon margarita with tequila. I can't believe I finished the whole plate! It was perfect! According to Google AI, the plate was around 6oz of steak, some horseradish mashed potatoes and a big Chinese broccoli! Our second attempt at dining here. First one was on a Saturday but they were packed and wait was hour and a half so we went somewhere else. We came back on a Sunday lunchtime and they were already packed (they open at 1030am). We were quoted an hour and a half wait again. As we were about to leave the hostess suggested that "if you're really starving, bar sitting is available and has a better view, but they're high top tables..." like it's a last-resort option because it's inconvenient??? We sat by the window where we can see the water; server acknowledged us after 5 minutes. We ordered Bloody Marys, 5-pc albacore sashimi, I love the sear on it, and its freshness; clam chowder: 5 out of 5, fish and chips which is alright, Kraken Shrimp on top of sweet chili sauce that comes with another sweet glazy dip. Great food and service! Attended a private event in the Regatta Room. Boathouse does a great job with private dining. The Room has a wall of glass with amazing views of Alamitos Bay! Ot has a private entrance. Great venue for borthday parties and other soecial events. The menu options were very tempting!I ordered the Pan Roasted Salmon and my friends had the Flat Iron Steak. Both dishes were great picks. My salmon was very tender and flavorful served on a bed of mushroom and pea risotto. My once friend mentioned her steak had one if the best flavors she has had. Came here for the second time with my boyfriend and it did not disappoint! We had a beachside table, live band playing, and mimosas - $20 for the bottle, yay! Went here for brunch with friends. Views of the water and boats were great but it was so hot inside the restaurant. Parking was a breeze. Plaza seemed quite dead even on a Saturday afternoon. My Boathouse roll was not great. While the tuna was "fresh", the taste was off. I let the waitress know and they took a small discount off of the item which I appreciated. We got the wagyu tomahawk, it was a good cut but the presentation mash potato and broccolini was just thrown together. Still good though. The kid meals were decently portioned. Our espresso martinis tasted like a mix they just threw together versus something fresh. Overall, I would come back for the views but not for the food or drinks. read more

I just picked up one of my big bosses at the Long Beach Airport and he wanted to take me out to lunch. We walk up to this Boathouse on the Bay and I'm glad I dressed up better then what I usually wear doing field location work. This place looks pretty fancy. I assume seafood is the big thing here. We get seated. The boss says he's been here before and likes the place. One thing I can say, working for this company, they sure don't cheap out on expenses! I'm looking over the menu all while trying to have enlightening and fascinating conversation. The boss say, how bout and order of fries to start, so with the drink orders we add a side of fries. The drinks and fries arrive and I will say, those were some of the best fries I ever had. Then he orders an order of the fried calamari. For entrees he orders the Linguini and Clams and I get the fish and chips. Yeah, I know better than to order the big ass ribeye when you go out with the boss, unless he orders that too. We talk business and stuff, and the fried calamari arrive. I'll say these are damn tasty! Next, my fish and chips arrive along with the Boss's Clam dish. My fish was a nice big piece of real fish filet, not those frozen fish fingers you get at some places and sports bars. Overall, this was a great place for lunch or dinner and has great views. Located right on the harbor. The views are incredible. There is complimentary parking up to 3 hours too. This was a happy surprise since the restaurant has a prime location. We were seated at our table which was outside and right next to the window. Our waitress was Hillary and she was so cheerful and kind. She was such a great server! We started off with the trio which comes with Brussel sprouts, calamari, and shrimp. It was nice to have a sample platter. For dinner I ordered the seabass and my party ordered the halibut. My wife and I came to Boathouse on the Bay to celebrate her birthday. We requested a table close to the water, and the team was kind enough to accommodate us right away. The setting was wonderful, and having live music playing added a great vibe to the evening. Because we had eaten a late lunch, we kept our food order light and went with couple of beers, a glass of Prosecco, the beer-bartered fries, and the watermelon salad. Everything tasted great, and the service throughout the night was attentive and friendly. One minor thing to keep in mind if you are celebrating a special occasion: I asked the host about getting a birthday dessert, but it ended up on our final bill. I may have phrased the request incorrectly, or it might just be restaurant policy! If you are hoping for a complimentary birthday treat or sample, just make sure to clarify with your server or host when ordering. Overall, the host was super sweet and welcoming. We celebrated our 13th anniversary dinner last night and we were seated at the patio. We waited a bit longer before the server came. We ordered our cocktails and the server recommended the best seller, it is pretty good and refreshing. We ordered the trio appetizers, halibut and sea bass for our entrees and both great dishes. And the dessert which is light and delicious . Overall we enjoyed our evening, descent service. Small details like we were not ask if we do not mind being seated at the patio instead of the main dining area and if we are celebrating any occasion. I've been coming to the Boathouse for many years. Learned they no longer offer crab legs....my absolute favorite. The Shrimp was served beautifully but was warm to the touch and the Cocktail sauce was nothing more than ketchup...even after attempts to add horseradish and lemon juice. The ceviche lacked flavor...needed lime juice and Cilantro. The Spicy Alamitos roll was good but needed Ponzu sauce. We ordered another one and asked for ponzu sauce. It was the highlight of the meal. We opted to pass on main entrees. Service was slow..pleasant but Slow. A big miss overall tonight. Blast from the past! And 5 stars for our waitress, Malia I used to come here every weekend for their brunch. This was the very first time I've had dinner and cocktails here I made a reservation which was really easy. I remember I used to have to put my card down for the reservations In the past, but this time it didn't make me do that. But she did say as long as it wasn't brunch menu time, they can make it during lunch and dinner Also, grabbed a few cocktails I got the -blueberries on the bay The - pear martini the- Chee hoo And the-champagne punch cocktail (Don't worry, I ain't driving) All of them came out really fast, tasted amazing and were on the happy hour menu They also have great mocktails . Happy hour is tues-Friday and 4-6 pm. (They are closed on Monday) we also ordered the - chicken sliders from the happy hour menu. (I'm not into sushi, but they even have sushi featured on their happy hour) The tomahawk does not come with sides. It comes with a butter / sauce that you get to pick and the seasoning. We ended up picking the mushroom glaze for the tomahawk and skipped on the rub that comes with it (3 to choose from) I really appreciate that Malia kept notifying us that certain items we order would take longer like the tomahawk and our dessert that was being made. She also let us know that she was having to go into a meeting but it would only take about 5-10 minutes and asked if we needed anything beforehand. So she was really great and mindful We ended up getting -Mac and cheese -truffle fries -broccolini with balsamic glaze -garlic mashed potatoes To go with the tomahawk Everything was amazing. I've been coming here for years and yet the service and quality is still the same I think it's safe to say this is a Long Beach staple. Even though I was dining solo, I made a reservation, and I'm glad I did because this place was packed. Reservations are an absolute must. I sat outside, and even though the weather was cold, I honestly didn't feel it because they had plenty of outdoor heat lamps throughout the patio. The ambiance was truly stunning: warm lighting, upscale energy, and a romantic feel without being overly "stuffy." One of my favorite details was seeing a table with a fire feature in the center and guests were literally seated around a fire while dining, which felt so luxurious and unique. There was also a live band, and the sound quality was so crisp I genuinely thought it was a playlist until I looked up and realized they were performing. Parking was a breeze, which is always a win, especially on a busy Saturday night. My server was delightful, attentive, kind, and welcoming. I started with the clam chowder, which was creamy, hot, and full of flavor. The sourdough bread served at the table was perfectly crunchy and delicious with butter. And the pear martini? A full 5 stars on its own. It was so good I ordered two. This is definitely a more expensive place, but the service, atmosphere, and overall experience matched the price. What I also loved is that it's not just for couples it's family-friendly, and I saw families dining, birthday celebrations, and even regulars. I sat near a gentleman who said he comes frequently, and I can absolutely see why. This feels like one of those stable spots that, once you go, could easily become your go-to if you enjoy great ambiance and a quality experience. Went for a Mother's Day lunch. Was very busy but we did have a reservation. Was sat once our entire party arrived. We were originally placed in a booth, but that would have been rough moving around for seconds and thirds. There was also a child with the carrier not able to be fit around the table. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm for a late lunch/early dinner and left with a bad taste in my mouth. Not literally, the food was good but the service was lacking. When our server arrived to take our drink order, instead of introducing herself and asking what drinks we would like to start with, she simply stood there and blinked a couple of times without speaking a word. It was so awkward for those first few seconds that I almost wanted to introduce mySELF and ask how I could help HER. You can't make this shit up lmao. Anyways, we started with some calamari which came out fine but there were no utensils or small plates or even a napkin to cry into, so we just stared at the calamari for a bit wondering who would be the first one to pick at it with their hands like some uncultured swine. She eventually returned and we asked for some cutlery. Overall the experience took away from the enjoyment of the food and the nice outdoor atmosphere by the water. I've eaten at Boathouse on the Bay several times and the food, service, and ambiance is always meets or exceeds my expectations. The patio is nice and airy with great views. There's also live music on the patio on weekends. The main restaurant has a different but still very nice feel to it. On this most recent visit, they were so busy they weren't allowing walk-in's so we sat at the bar. Sitting at the bar is our preferred seating at most restaurants. We had an amazing time. NOTE: make reservations or joint the waiting list on Yelp when you leave the house and by the time you get there you won't have to wait long at all. read more

Walked up to the hostess and asked if we can be seated on patio for the view and her response was have a seat. Never greeted us in fact I felt like leaving. Once seated, served drinks the night was improving until the Thursday Wahoo fish was served. The fish was dry and there was much less sauce in one of the bowls etc. Asked the waitress if we can get more sauce and water and it took 7-10 minutes by that time I had chocked down most my plate yet wife never finished hers.
