My goodness am I glad Walt's Wharf is back! This place has been a gem for so many years and I feel it just keeps getting better with time like a nice fine wine! Went here for dinner with a few of my friends and let's just say we were all over the moon with our meals and dessert and of course the mini sourdough loaves & whipped butter this place will forever blow me out of the water and I'm ready to go back already and I just left. Thank you Walt's Wharf & team for such beautiful ambiance, great service & amazing food!! See you guys soon !!

First time back since they reopened after they had a fire. Late lunch included albacore sandwich which my wife enjoyed. I had fish and chips that were excellent. Clam chowder is excellent. Cole slaw was good. The downstairs is only open for lunch. Upstairs is open Friday and Saturday night only for added capacity. Popular place for a long time. Main Street is nice place to walk.

Met up with a friend, former colleague (an organization we're both no longer at) last night her for dinner. Though it was my first time, I can see why a lot of people love this place. More on that later. Coming down to Seal Beach from DTLA, everything was smooth. Parking too. Found street parking nearby. Enforced until 6PM so it was FREE. Unlike LA where you're dining and worrying about meters. Arrived and dined at one of the tables adjacent to the bar. There's another section downstairs as well as upstairs, but that wasn't open. Spoke with the owner, warm, passionate person who clearly has been pouring her heart into decorating and restoring the restaurant (fire) who was kind enough to give my friend and I a tour upstairs - which I felt was ready to be opened - as it looked only to be missing a few touches like artwork to fill in a few bare wall spaces. Looking around you can tell she takes pride and care in the details. Recovering from a fire as well as Covid - pouring everything you have into a project like this is inspiring and refreshing. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Alfredo (see pics). It's served with Penne, not fettucine. It's different for me as the sauce can collect in the pasta and not really coat the surface. It can give you a richer bite - just FYI in case you're like me and expecting the traditional dish. Also got a small Caesar. I liked it but would have enjoyed it more if the croutons were cut smaller. I might be wrong but I felt like the dressing was poured and not tossed (or maybe not tossed enough). I really had a good experience. The vibe was relaxed. The service was excellent and friendly. So, it just a matter of whether I'd go back or not. That's not the right question though - it's not if, it's when. Even if I don't live close by.

We had a good lunch and our server, Tiffany, was great. The ambiance is nice and we enjoyed people watching out the window. I had the shrimp and chips which tasted good but didn't sit well. The clam chowder was very good too.

This popular Seal Beach seafood restaurant was closed for some time after a fire, but it's back now. I didn't think would need a reservation on a Monday night, but we did indeed have to wait. It's okay because we just walked around Main Street Seal Beach, which was very quiet. There are two floors to this restaurant and two rooms downstairs. One room has a wall to wall fisherman mural. Through we sat in had windows all around. You can see into the kitchen, but it is walled with glass. Several people were sitting at the bar eating. We got warm sourdough bread and whipped butter. I normally don't like sourdough bread, but this sourdough, which was kind of brown and not the normal white, was so good. Hubby ordered the Red Trout Almondine, which came with rice and green beans. It was a huge piece of fish, and it was delicious. I ordered blackened tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and bok choy. The tuna was just seated, and seasoned perfectly. It was sooooo good. It was the first day that this was on the menu, and I hope it is permanent. Lastly, our server, as well as the hostess, were very, very nice and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Our dinners were outstanding. Our waitress Christine T. was very personable and did an awesome job taking care of us during dinner! Walt's if fortunate to have a team member like Christine T. !!! The restaurant atmosphere was nice and too loud. We highly recommend Walt's !!!

We stumbled upon this place because my boyfriend was craving seafood and we were around the area so we decided to give this a shot and we are so happy we did! Being celiac, they were so accommodating and even had a GF menu! We start off with the oak grilled artichoke, which was super delicious and the lemon aïoli sauce was a perfect pair. I also got the classic mai tai, which was one of the best I've had since they used homemade orgeat. BF got the mahi-mahi plate and I got the GF mahi-mahi tacos and we both agreed that the fish was super fresh and delicious! Service was great and our server, Lisa was super helpful and constantly checked up on us making sure we were satisfied. This place is super popular and we did have to wait about 40 minutes for our table, but it was definitely worth it!!

First time back since the remodel. It's as good as ever. You just have to know what to order. You have to get the oak grilled artichokes with Lea and Perrins aioli. This is one of the signature dishes of the restaurant, and they live up to the hype. We also love the steamed clams. Make sure to ask for some extra sourdough bread to sop up the wine, butter, and garlic broth. Finish it off with the Caramelized Salmon entree--another signature dish--and you have the perfect dinner for two. The Babcock wines are also very good. We've been coming here for 35 years, and the quality continues to shine.

Ask the Community - Walt's Wharf

    Do they take reservations?

Not at the time I dined there. Should call to verify

How noisy is Walt's Wharf? My husband has a hearing disability and it is very hard for him to hear and participate in conversations at loud restaurants?

It's on the medium to loud side if it's busy. I've been in plenty of much louder places and they don't blast music or anything but I wouldn't call Walt's quiet. You should be OK. I'd take my Dad there...and he refuses to wear his hearing aids!

I thought it shut down for good?

Nope! Back open and good as always! Stop in and support a local restaurant!

    When will the restaurant reopen?

    It's open now

Where can we find the happy hour menu or what's on there ? Thanks

They have fish tacos fish tostadas, crispy calamari spinach and Artichoke dip and Angus beef sliders all for happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 PM with wine specials too

Does Walt's Wharf have an ocean view?

No. The restaurant is on Main Street - 3 blocks from the shore.

It wasn't even close to full. They're clearly holding people outside on purpose to create fake hype, which is honestly pretty messed up. You're telling me dozens of people are stuck waiting forever while there's plenty of room inside? It's giving manufactured crowd and poor management. To make it worse, they stopped serving drinks and turned the lights on at 1:15 AM, way earlier than literally any normal bar. So after wasting hours in line, you barely even get time inside. And it somehow gets worse -- at 1:35 AM they were literally kicking people out of the restroom. We weren't even allowed to finish or wash our hands before being rushed out. That's not just rude, it's straight up unhygienic and disrespectful. Overall, completely overhyped, disorganized, and not worth the wait at all. Don't fall for the line -- it's fake.

Saw the open patio as we had the little pup with us. Noticed the hostess cleaning one of the tables and asked here if it was ok to have our pup with us. Of course she said, which we later seen that so many people would pop in with their fur babies. We checked in which there was about 4 other parties ahead of us. We were wanting the patio seating which they had plenty of seating but still had to wait for a table. It was about a 10 minute wait or so. They were going by the sign in sheet. Hostess was quite sweet and friendly. We got seating which there with plenty of seating still available. There was also hi top bar seating where it seemed like it was first come first serve seating. Menu for the place looked quite interesting. They had breakfast but it was only served till a certain time. Of course the reason we stopped in here was for the Bloody Mary deal we saw for 7.50. Not sure if it's all week or only on for the weekend. Found out that it goes on till 5:30 I believe. Of course we had to try it out. It was a pretty decent size and extra spicy how we like it. Adorned with celery stick, pickle slice, pearl onion, olives and perppercini. For the price, it was quite nice. I thought they would have just used the premixed but it was quoted that each one was made specifically. Quite tasty I must say. Entrees, we just went for a salad. The poke salad on top of mix spring greens was excellent. Nice full chunks of poke in a nice glaze and served with dressing on the side. Portion wise was massive for the price. And the Cobb salad. Your classic with all the usual toppings. Grilled chicken with bacons, tomatoes, avocado, eggs blue cheese crumbles and black olives. Food was nice. Nothing major but they were great. We did also order a side of fries which never came out but later didn't see it on the bill. Waitress must have not heard us ordering it. It was fine. The food was great and service was nice. I understand trying to seat everyone on a busy day but come on. This is 2nd time I am finding an inconsistency in the customer service here. I would probably not have posted this had another person not been also complaining about being passed up and had been waiting. I hate when places start thinking they are so popular they can lose customers from bad customer service and it won't make a difference. It's sad when you have 50% good customer service and then the rest that could care less. And before I get some response about it being a busy day due to the big game, the table I was waiting for was almost in the doorway clearly a last resort table. Would I have minded waiting for a spot? No. But why would I since it was only me, clearly my patronage was less valued than everyone else with 2 people or more. How sad. The server couldn't have cared less. It was that crappy bar stool or nothing. Considering even with specials, the minimum spend per person is $30 and up, I guess it's all about maximizing $$ and my $$ aren't enough. After being a happy customer in the padt, I can't recommend this place right now.
