It's the first time my husband and I have tried this restaurant. I can't believe we haven't tried it sooner. The food was awesome! It was fresh and flavorful without the flavor overpowering the food. I ordered panco covered Mahi Mahi. It came on a bed of rice with one of my favorite veggies, green beans. The service was excellent, not rushed, but not slow either. As for the restaurant itself, it was quiet and relaxed. I definitely will return! But, it is an upscale restaurant and it is worth it! read more

Wonderful experience for first/time visitors. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating of us brining in our 10-month old. The restaurant is nice but not pretentious so we felt comfortable with our baby. I can't recall our server's name (she was blonde and middle aged) but she was so sweet and attentive. We chatted about kids and she took care of us our entire visit. We all enjoyed our food including the complimentary warm sourdough bread with soft, spreadable butter, coconut crusted shrimp, mahi mahi tacos, kid's salon plate, stuffed salmon, and chocolate bomb. I personally had the stuffed salmon. Hands down the best cooked salmon I've ever had. It tasted like butter and practically melted in my mouth. Walked into Walt's Wharf on a Saturday around 4:45pm and got on the list for dinner. The quoted 30 minute wait went by quickly. We were seated in a cozy booth and ordered: Calamari - Loved the addition of vegetables like carrots and peppers which added variety. The batter was light, crispy and not greasy. Fish and chips - Just like the calamari, the batter was perfectly light and crisp. It came with a generous portion of fries and coleslaw. Trout almondine - The fish was perfectly cooked and paired nicely with wild rice and green beans. I appreciated how its topped with a good amount of toasted almonds. For my daughter, the butter bucatini with a cup of milk was a hit. Our server was attentive and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout the meal. We had a great experience and we're already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu. read more

First time back since they reopened after they had a fire. Late lunch included albacore sandwich which my wife enjoyed. I had fish and chips that were excellent. Clam chowder is excellent. Cole slaw was good. The downstairs is only open for lunch. Upstairs is open Friday and Saturday night only for added capacity. Popular place for a long time. Met up with a friend, former colleague (an organization we're both no longer at) last night her for dinner. Though it was my first time, I can see why a lot of people love this place. More on that later. Coming down to Seal Beach from DTLA, everything was smooth. Parking too. Found street parking nearby. Enforced until 6PM so it was FREE. Unlike LA where you're dining and worrying about meters. Arrived and dined at one of the tables adjacent to the bar. There's another section downstairs as well as upstairs, but that wasn't open. Spoke with the owner, warm, passionate person who clearly has been pouring her heart into decorating and restoring the restaurant (fire) who was kind enough to give my friend and I a tour upstairs - which I felt was ready to be opened - as it looked only to be missing a few touches like artwork to fill in a few bare wall spaces. Looking around you can tell she takes pride and care in the details. Recovering from a fire as well as Covid - pouring everything you have into a project like this is inspiring and refreshing. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Alfredo (see pics). It's served with Penne, not fettucine. It's different for me as the sauce can collect in the pasta and not really coat the surface. It can give you a richer bite - just FYI in case you're like me and expecting the traditional dish. Also got a small Caesar. I liked it but would have enjoyed it more if the croutons were cut smaller. I might be wrong but I felt like the dressing was poured and not tossed (or maybe not tossed enough). I really had a good experience. The vibe was relaxed. The service was excellent and friendly. So, it just a matter of whether I'd go back or not. Arrived 6-26-26 at 5:46pm. Don't sit at the bar with Server: Dinner Bartender B which receipt states. If you want to be ignored. Approaching the restaurant, We bypassed the waiting patrons and proceeded to the bar on the far west side. I immediately ordered the clam chowder, which was exceptionally delicious. My wife opted for the House Smoked Fish Platter, not impressed with it and intending to return it, but I decided to indulge in it instead. This dish should be removed from the menu. We were served two dinner rolls. Before I could complete my meal, the bartender presented us with the bill without inquiring if we desired any additional items. Service not good. read more

This popular Seal Beach seafood restaurant was closed for some time after a fire, but it's back now. I didn't think would need a reservation on a Monday night, but we did indeed have to wait. It's okay because we just walked around Main Street Seal Beach, which was very quiet. There are two floors to this restaurant and two rooms downstairs. One room has a wall to wall fisherman mural. Through we sat in had windows all around. You can see into the kitchen, but it is walled with glass. Several people were sitting at the bar eating. We got warm sourdough bread and whipped butter. I normally don't like sourdough bread, but this sourdough, which was kind of brown and not the normal white, was so good. Hubby ordered the Red Trout Almondine, which came with rice and green beans. It was a huge piece of fish, and it was delicious. I ordered blackened tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and bok choy. The tuna was just seated, and seasoned perfectly. It was sooooo good. It was the first day that this was on the menu, and I hope it is permanent. Lastly, our server, as well as the hostess, were very, very nice and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. read more

I have been going the Walts Wharf for decades and it is such a treat for me to eat there and I looked so forward to it. I however, like many, waited for the rebuilding of the resturant with anticipation of a great meal. It was meh, dull and the darn fried fish was not fresh. With so many limited fish items on the menu, I would think that it would be fresh. I did however like the chowder just wish it came with more than four tablespoons of chowder. The resturant is beautiful and the staff was spot on. I here they are now owned by a winery. I will go back for drinks only. I used to know Walt and he would be so very dissapointed that the food wasn't up to par. read more

We stumbled upon this place because my boyfriend was craving seafood and we were around the area so we decided to give this a shot and we are so happy we did! Being celiac, they were so accommodating and even had a GF menu! We start off with the oak grilled artichoke, which was super delicious and the lemon aïoli sauce was a perfect pair. I also got the classic mai tai, which was one of the best I've had since they used homemade orgeat. BF got the mahi-mahi plate and I got the GF mahi-mahi tacos and we both agreed that the fish was super fresh and delicious! Service was great and our server, Lisa was super helpful and constantly checked up on us making sure we were satisfied. The manager had a bad attitude, and i left the place thinking they used to be better several years ago. First time back since the remodel. It's as good as ever. You just have to know what to order. You have to get the oak grilled artichokes with Lea and Perrins aioli. This is one of the signature dishes of the restaurant, and they live up to the hype. We also love the steamed clams. Make sure to ask for some extra sourdough bread to sop up the wine, butter, and garlic broth. Finish it off with the Caramelized Salmon entree--another signature dish--and you have the perfect dinner for two. The Babcock wines are also very good. Met up with a good friend last week who loves this place. Now I'm a fan too. I truly enjoyed my soup, scallops & shrimp fettuccine, and decadent chocolate dessert. Service was beyond excellent. Our server was the sweetest and thoughtful person. My good friend had their filet mignon that was served with garlic mash potatoes. She enjoyed her dish too. Used to love this place. First time back in a few years last Friday afternoon. Seated at a nice window table. Server showed up about 10 minutes later. Ordered mocktails, chowders, wedge salad and ono for me and my hubby. Had to ask for bread. Chowders came out. Pretty good, no drinks. Salad came out, good. Still no drinks. Waited about 15 minutes for drinks. Ono came out steaming. It was like fish jerky. Sent back didn't want anything else. So disappointed and parking is awful, I think there was 3 or 4 spots designated for Walt's. Still love Seal beach but Walt's is not like it used to be. read more

The food was amazing Salmon was great had both dishes The ribeye cooked spot on and delicious Asparagus cooked perfectly and yummy Artichoke was great Walt's salad - mustard vinegarette was actually perfect...surprised Sauces amazing..except steak sauce it was ok...but maybe I'm not a big steak sauce person Meyer's lemon cake exceptional Crème Brele very good Mud pie good Babcock Chardonnay was good and I'm a wine snob Service The two waitresses I had were very personable.. I am not easy to serve...I tip well but make lots of requests...the second waitress I had...I asked for two things I never got,..but I got over it...not worth lowering my whole experience to a 4... Bathrooms tidy and good.. Friendly staff Called a few times helpful Good experiences both times They have upped there game in this reopen and I am happy to say it! Way to go read more

Incredible lunch and service! The artichoke is out of this world. Visited after 10 years and it's still fantastic!

We stood at the front desk that was not staffed for about 6 minutes while we looked at a room with open tables and open bar seating. No menu was available to view at the door do we asked for one. After reviewing it and seeing several options we indicated we would like a table for two. We were barked at by the waitress saying nothing was available for at least 40 minutes. I asked about the open seats and was told that would be okay as she walked away. I guess we were to seat ourselves but instead we left. Rude behavior and unfriendly behavior should not be rewarded. It's was a Wednesday evening and many other options were available. I won't be going back and neither should you. read more
